StreamInsight is, ultimately, a set of programming tools, and at some point it takes a programmer to implement a StreamInsight solution. But it really should be possible to get a handle on what StreamInsight is all about even if you’re not a programmer yourself. It gives an overview of the technology, but it leaves out the C# references and relates StreamInsight to more familiar SQL databases and queries. Check it out. • How to move files over samba share with gnomevfs cli

  Ok I am in the process of backing up my film collection to a NAS and I wanted to automate this as much as possible as I have to work at the same time. I am trying to setup a daily dump of ISO's ready to be converted overnight. I would like to do this as a cron job using gnomevfs. I have been able to connect and do an ls command successfully with gnomevfs-ls smb://user:WORKGROUP:password@media-centre/videos/ but I am having trouble setting up a mv command from a local folder to the same shared folder keep getting the Usage: gnomevfs-mv <from> <to> quote which isn't particularly informative ;) any ideas?

• Changing file permissions on USB external hard drive

  I am using an external USB hard drive for a long time in Ubuntu 10.04, both at work and at home. Now I've installed 12.04 at home. Today I used the USB drive for the first time. I can read the disk but can't change the permissions of a file I wanted. Output of "mount" /dev/sdb1 on /media/FREECOM HDD type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077, utf8=1,showexec,flush,uhelper=udisks) What I try sudo chmod u+w bsst-hdf_to_bsst-h5 and what I get -rw-r--r-- 1 paco paco 2956 dic 19 10:27 bsst-hdf_to_bsst-h5 Any idea would be appreciated. • JMonkeyEngine display a spatial in a Nifty GUI interface

  I want to display a spatial (or the rendering of a spatial/scene) in my HUD interface. I'm really not sure how to go with this. I have search the documentation, but all the queries I search yields no result, and all I could find about images is that one can specify one with the setBackgroundImage method in the builder and setImage from the ImageRenderer class. The latter takes a String or a NiftyImage, but I'm not sure how to create one without loading an image file. Any help to understand this (if even possible) is appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, But in my system: Browsers that have less than width: 800px, the layout must hide some content, not only hide, but avoid them load fully. I mean, in access with desktop with more than 800px of screen, the page load fully; In mobile devices, or even in desktop with less than 800px, not load some content. • DockbarX Applet not loading

  I used to have dockbarX applet installed on my gnome panel. However one day when I login in I got a error message which can be seen in the screenshot below. So I removed it, and then tried adding it again to the gnome panel but I still get the error message. I am running the latest version of dockbarX 0.43 with the helpers enabled and media buttons etc. I did not update it recently and have been using this version for a couple of weeks now and got this problem only now. How can I solve this problem?

• How to dump a MediaWiki for offline use?

  I would like to be able to make an offline version of a MediaWiki site on a weekly basis. The DumpHTML extension actually does what I want, as it dumps all articles and media files, but I can't see any index of all the articles it have dumped, so I can't navigate in the dump. Reading about the XML dump feature MediaWiki have, I wonder if it would be possible to either use a program to view these files or perhaps convert them to html? Or are there other ways to make an offline version of a MediaWiki site?

• Funky Behavior NoTracking Query Entities

  I’ve been using a lot of NoTracking queries to grab lists of data that I don’t need change tracked. It enhances performance and cuts down on resources. There are some nuances about these entities, however. One of the interesting behaviors of EF4’s Lazy Loading is that even if you have entities that you have queried with NoTracking on, they will still lazy load related entities. • How do I install third-party rhythmbox plugins?

  Now that the dust has settled and Rhythmbox has become (again) the default music-media player in 12.04, I'm interested in extending its functionality. For example, the default lyric plugin does not work for me and there doesn't appear to be an sound-equalizer by default. Having done a search, I came across the Gnome-website that lists a number of third-party plugins, some-of which I wish to install which can resolve the above. However, there doesn't appear to be .deb packages or a repository containing these plugins. Instead there are links to source-code websites such as GitHub and others. So, I'm confused - I don't know which plugins works in 12.04 Rhythmbox and I'm not sure how to install these. Help please?

• Download images and other documents from external websites

  We're running a website which enables users to download documents about our company, such as: -wallpapers with the company logo. -company logos in various flavours. -media kits in pdf format. Since these files are quite big in size (some reach 1MB), we no longer want them to be downloaded from our website directly as it's consuming our bandwidth. Accordingly we've been looking into document sharing services. For instance we found Scribd which could allow us to share pdf files, but not our wallpapers and logos which are in png format. Is there a free service we can use for our users to reliably download any type of files we want to host? (ideally on a service which allows users to easily browse through our files).

• Is it convenient to use a XML/JSON generated based system? [closed]

  One of my clients insists that we missed a requisite for the project(a little social network, using PHP + MySql), is that all queries are made from XML / JSON static files (using AJAX) and not directly from the database. Edit: The main reason, stated by client, is a way to economize bandwith. Even the file loading, has to be using AJAX, to avoid server side processing. We will still use a database to store and insert data. These XML / JSON files will be (re) generated whenever any data is changed by CMS or users. As the project was developed without this "technique", we'll have a lot of work ahead, so I would like to avoid that. I'm asking if it's convenient to use a XML generated based system, because I think a database is already "optimized" and secure to deal with a lot of data traffic. Other issue I'm afraid of, is a chance of conflict when a user is trying to read a XML/JSON which is being just generated.

• Building a website, want to use java

  I'd like to make a simple-ish website that is essentially a small game. Key strokes are to be processed and sent to a server (already acquired and should support SQL and JSP, I believe) which then translate to a location and written to the DB. SQL queries are to be used to retrieve these locations and written to other clients connected to the website. Their page is to be updated with these locations. I have working knowledge of Java, jQuery/Ajax, SQL and JavaScript but I'm unfamiliar with JSP and how everything hooks up. I'm aware of the MVC paradigm as well. For my little game idea, would these technologies work? Am I over thinking this and can make it much easier to implement? What might be a good tutorial or example to study?
