• Slow network interaction between 2 kvm host machines

  We have 2 physical machines, Host1 is a CentOS 6.4 kvm host and hosts ~7 kvm VMs all running Ubuntu 12.04 - all of this runs perfectly. Recently we've added a 2nd host system, host2, again a CentOS 6.4 kvm host with a view to running another couple of VMs and providing some failover against host1 should it be required. Both physical machines reside in the same cabinet in our DC, and are on the same subnet - let's say host1: 1.1.1.64 and host2: 1.1.1.81. Both have their gateway set to the DC gateway of 1.1.1.254 with no hardware firewall in between. On each machine, I have 4 NICs that are bonded together to form a single interface, which is then bridged to allow the VMs to access the network. All of the VMs are online, and all of them can successfully ssh into the hosts without any delay. Both systems can access the internet fine, and I can ssh into both systems from home without any issues. However, there is a real delay when attempting to ssh from host1 to host2 (or vice versa) and this obviously means that any action required on host2, that is controlled by host1 either takes forever or results in failure due to timeout. In the interest of keeping this post short, I've put my ifcfg files into a pastie: http://pastie.org/8081648 I've tried both adding a firewall rule in each machine for the other, and also disabling the firewall entirely, so that can't be the issue. I've tried troubleshooting this myself but can't seem to get to the bottom of it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• How can I monitor URLs being requested by components in web apps running in Internet Explorer?

  Hi I'm using a particular web app which for some strange reason runs only in IE and not in Firefox. I need to see which URLs are being fetched by internal components in the web app, such as AJAX requests and video sources being loaded in a video player. In Firefox I would have used Firebug... is there any tool I can use to see (not necessarily in real time or with a nice GUI) which URLs were requested by IE? Thanks

• equivalent to CDN but for dynamical content?

  so i know for serving static elements (css, js, images, videos etc) you should use CDN since they are spread out throughout the world. but how could i spread out by apache servers? is there an equivalent to CDN but for dynamical pages? or is it the traditional LAMP way. if so, i guess my best option is to find an international hosting provider that hosts in different countries, so the content will be served from the country located nearest the client machine. any suggestions of such hosting providers? or is it best practice to contact different hosting providers in different countries that do not relate to each other. what is the right way to go?

  This I understand: net use P: \\SOME_COMPUTER\SOME_SHARE net use P: \\1.2.3.4\SOME_SHARE (the second argument is a logical share on the given computer) This, I do NOT understand: net use LPT2: IP_1.2.3.4 (where IP_1.2.3.4 is the name of a "port" assigned to a printer; the IP is a valid and responding device, but the full string "IP_1.2.3.4" is not) Can anyone tell me, is there ever a syntax of NET USE that could operate on a printer port like that? I can't get it to work, can't find anything via Google, and am practically in tears. [Sorry if this is cheating, this is basically a re-post of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1884235/old-school-windows-2000-printing-or-when-is-a-port-name-a-computer but with the scope narrowed just to the main issue at hand.

• xen 4.1 host priodically dropping network packets of domU

  I have xen 4.1 Host running on a ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server with ip 153.x.x.54. I have setup 2 VMs on it, namely, "dev.mydomain.com" and "web.mydomain.com" with ips 195.X.X.2 and 195.x.x.3 respectively. For network the VMs connect through xendbr0 (xen-bridge), and can accces the network properly. I can also login to the VMs with ssh with no issue. However when I ping any of the VMs, there is a high amount of periodic packet drop. If I the ping the xen host (dom0) there is no packet drop. I've found a few people successfully doing it in the past but Atlassian seems to have changed their WSDL since then to make the existing advice not entirely helpful.   I am using a Java library called PDFBox trying to write text to a PDF. It works perfect for English text, but when i tried to write Russian text inside the PDF the letters appeared so strange. It seems the problem is in the font used, but i am not so sure about that, so i hope if anyone could guide me through this. • Save a PDF created with FPDF php library in a MySQL blob field

  I need to create a pdf file with the fpdf library and save it in a blob field in my MySQL database. The problem is, when I try to retrieve the file from the blob field and send it to the browser for the download, the donwloaded file is corrupted and does not display correctly. The same pdf file is correctly displayed if I send it immediately to the browser without storing it in the db, so it seems some of the data gets corrupted when is inserted in the db. My code is something like this: $pdf = new MyPDF(); //class that extends FPDF and create te pdf file $content = $pdf->Output("", "S"); //return the pdf file content as string $sql = "insert into mytable(myblobfield) values('".addslashes($content)."')"; mysql_query($sql); to store the pdf, and like this: $sql = "select myblobfield from mytable where id = '1'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $rs = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $content = stripslashes($rs['myblobfield']); header('Content-Type: application/pdf'); header("Content-Length: ".strlen(content)); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=myfile.pdf'); print $content; to send it to the browser for downloading.   Hi All, I am implementing a peer to peer network using WCF NetPeerTcpBinding connections. I am using a central server which itself overrides the class CustomPeerResolverService. All this service does is register peers, and publish information about the peers to each other. On my server application I can visibly see which peers are currently connected on the GUI. My question is, each peer has a TCP connection to the server. When I unplug my network connection all connections to this server are severed. When the network comes back online those connections to the server are not re-established. What do I need to do to make sure they are re-established? • compiling iphone program in snow leopard wtih libsqlite3 library

  Hi, I develop an iphone application which uses sqlite3 as a database. That time my OS X version was leopard. So add added libsqlite3.0.dylib to frameworks and compile without any problems it complied and with any problems I could run it on the device as well. This week I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac. Removing old Leopard version and install a fresh Snow leopard system. But my problem is now I cannot compile that program because it will give errors with sqlite3 library. I added sqlite3.0.dylib using selecting targets and then selecting file.   jQuery based modal dialog boxes are great as long as you do as much as the example tells you to. I need a jQuery based modal dialog box library that has to have the following characteristics: It should be fast, something like the add and link dialog on StackOverflow. Most libraries take an eternity to load the dialog with its fancy effects and stuff. I want to call it using a script. Show a hidden div or a span element inline. MOst of the libraries talk filling an anchor with rel, class and href=#hiddenDiv sort of things. I need to be able to what I want without adding unnecessary attributes to my anchor. Something like this function showDialog(values) { processToChangeDom(values); changeDivTobeDisplayed(); modalDialog.show(); } It should reflect changes I make to the DOM in the hidden Div. I used facebox and found out that it makes a copy of the hidden div and changes to the DOM doesn't reflect on the modal window. I need to be able call the close modal div using javascript and also attach beforeOpen and afterClose handlers to the action. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have already tried facebox, simplemodal and a whole range of libraries, most of them don't support one or the other of these functions I described above.

  I'd like to print PDF file(s) on windows' network printer via GhostScript. (I dont want to use Adobe Reader) I've read gswin32c.exe which can do the job. I experimented with many commands and coudn't find the way how to force gs to print PDF on my (windows default) network drive. I don't need point exact network printer- default can be used. But if there is no such option I'm happy to pass printer name as well. (I've tried with param -SDevice="\server_IP\printer_name" but this didnt work as well...)   I am writing a .Net application where I must support user-defined formulas that can perform basic mathematics, as well as accessing data from any arbitrary table in the database. I have the math part working, using JScript Eval(). What I haven't decided on is what a nice way is to do the generic table lookups. For example, I may have a formula something like: Column: BonusAmount Formula: {CurrentSalary} * 1.5 * {[SystemSettings][Value][SettingName=CorpBonus AND Year={Year}]} So, in this example I would replace {xxx} and {Year} with the value of Column xxx from the current table, and I would replace the second part with the value of (select Value from SystemSettings WHERE SettingName='CorpBonus' AND Year=2008) So, basically, I am looking for something very much like the MS Access DLookup function: DLookup ( expression, domain, [criteria] ) DLookup("[UnitPrice]", "Order Details", "OrderID = 10248") But, I also need to overall parsing routine that can tell whether to just look up in the current row, or to look into another table. Would also be nice to support aggregate functions (ie: DAvg, DMax, etc), as well as all the weird edge cases handled. So I wonder if anyone knows of any sort of an existing library, or has a nice routine that can handle this formula parsing and database lookup / aggregate function resolution requirements.

It works perfect for English text, but when i tried to write Russian text inside the PDF the letters appeared so strange. It seems the problem is in the font used, but i am not so sure about that, so i hope if anyone could guide me through this. The WinAnsiEncoding source code is : Click here --------------------- Edit on 18 November 2009 After some investigation, i am now sure it is an Encoding problem, this could be solved by defining my own Encoding using the helpful PDFBox class called DictionaryEncoding. I am not sure how to use it, but here is what i have tried until now : COSDictionary cosDic = new COSDictionary(); cosDic.setString( COSName.getPDFName("Ercyrillic"), "0420 " ); // Russian letter. font.setEncoding( new DictionaryEncoding( cosDic ) ); This does not work, as it seems i am filling the dictionary in a wrong way, when i write a PDF page using this it appears blank. Enable CIFS access to a cloud-server based installation of Alfresco Allow Eventual implementation of some form of single-sign-on ( OpenLDAP server ) access to Alfresco and other server applications implemented in the future Given: All Servers will live in the public internet cloud (Rackspace Cloud Servers) OpenVPN Server will be a Linux disto, probably Ubuntu 9.x, installed on same server as Alfresco (at least to start) Staff will access server applications and resources from client sites, hotels, trains, planes, coffee shops or their homes over various ISP, using their company laptops or personal home desktops.
