• How can I see when the txt file was embedded to a word document?

  Is there a possibility to search when the embedded txt file was created in the word document? I'm working in Word 2010 and the extension of the document is simple: .doc It was inserted using the Word options: Insert -> Object -> Create from file -> Insert as icon Thank you, I already tried the right click and properties option, but the problem with it, that it shows only the current date for all of the 3 options (created/modified/accessed). I also tried to get the timestamp but it is inactive when I'm on the txt object. Sorry not to mention it before: Thank you all of you here for the help and support it is really appreciated.

• Saving backup files automatically in (g)Vim after saving a file.

  I had a problem with my gVim. I lost some important modifications after I plugged on my machine after a hibernating process. To avoid this kind of problem, I would like to know if it's possible to add something in my .vimrc (or a plugin) that automatically backups all saving made to my files. Disk space is not an issue, I can delete these files after. I'm already using set backup set backupdir=~/.backup/vim set directory=~/.swap/vim This creates a myfile.extension~ in my .backup/vim. ...but I would like this configuration to add ~ to first save, ~0 to second, ~1 to third, ~2 to fourth, and so on - something that keeps copies from all modifications I made to a file. Is this possible? Do you know if there's a plugin for this?

• Strange Rendering in Firefox

  I've just noticed when loading my client's page (http://habbopfm.com/) in Firefox, that it renders what looks like a rectangle is pushed down a few pixels. It's difficult to describe, but imagine you took a screenshot of the page, opened it in Photoshop, selected a rectangle and moved it down a bit. IE and Safari don't appear to do this - I'm assuming this is a browser glitch, not a problem with the code. Can anyone confirm what causes this? Below is a screenshot taken of the issue: http://habbopfm.com/problem.png One other thing is that it only does this once the page has finished loading. While it is loading, it looks fine.

Also, most address bars or search fields feature this (like the tag input below the posting form). I would like the same for a few, often-occuring words in business correspondance. • Document width calculated via Javascript is different in Firefox compared to other browsers

  I have a problem with retrieving the current page document width from Mozilla Firefox. While the rest of the browsers report the correct width of the document, Firefox reports a smaller one (example: at screen resolution of 1920x1080 IE, Chrome and Safari reports 1920 while Firefox reports 1903). I use document width in $(document).ready(function() { ... }); to reposition a div element. Funny this is that after using alert() inside this function, the element reposition correctly, though the document size is still smaller than other browsers.

• Why does this JavaScript destroys my layout in Internet Explorer?

• Is it possible to extend the Active Directory schema in a Windows 2003 DC (NOT R2) to support DFSR?

  We're in the process of installing a brand new Windows Server 2008 Web cluster and we would like to synchronize some files between the servers. The problem is that the DC in the domain is an old Windows Server 2003 Standard (NOT R2) which apparently doesn't contain some extension to the AD schema. Is it possible to upgrade the schema without upgrading the DC servers to R2? When I try to create a Replication Group on the 2008 Server I get the following message: --------------------------- Error --------------------------- srv.XXXXXX.XX: The Active Directory Domain Services schema on domain controller activedc07.srv.XXXXXX.XX cannot be read. This error might be caused by a schema that has not been extended, or was extended improperly. See Help and Support Center for information about extending the Active Directory Domain Services schema. • How to display downloaded youtube annotations ( not captions) on offline video player?

  i need to display the annotations for some of my downloaded youtube videos. It's also important to make them closeable. Making them clickable would also be nice. What i found out so far: From what i understand there there is a vlc plugin/extension that could also render the annotations but i'm having a hard time finding it. Mplayer might also be an option but i'd have to convert the xml files to .bmp and then use a bmov filter to play them. Any suggestions welcome. Edit: to further clarify i would like to display/overlay annotations from a youtube xml file (i'm willing to go through a conversion step if i have to) pretty much the same way i can display subtitles from a srt or sub file. Edit2: I'm open to using other players too ( if vlc is not a feasible option for what i want)

• Why does Microsoft's IE even exists?

  For real what is the point? Why can't it display pages properly like Chrome, safari or Firefox? If you want to make a web application (modern 2.0 site) that supports IE you will end up almost doubling your coding time as IE has its own interpretation of things. PLUS they just keep on changing how it renders pages from version to version (5,6,7,8) unbelievable. Microsoft hates web designers. i used to handle rendering problems with extra JS scripts and CSS files but i had enoughs of this $hit all over my pages: <!--[if IE]> .... <!--[if IE 8]> .... <!--[if IE 7]> .... <!--[if IE 6]> ....   Using jQuery and the Cycle plugin. Runs flawless in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and the latest version of Opera. Won't run in older versions of Opera, and of course, IE. I know its running Java, because its picking up the rollovers. This is driving me batty. Hopefully its something simple. • Is there a way to redirect certain URLs to specific web browsers in Linux?

  I'm using Chrome as my default browser in Ubuntu 12.10. I need to use Firefox for business purposes (certain websites pertaining to my work only work with Firefox). Is there a way to force Ubuntu to use Firefox for certain types of URLs (maybe as defined by a regular expression) while maintaining Chrome as my default browser for all my other tasks? Perhaps as a shell script running in the background? I'd like this to work system-wide, covering links from Chrome itself as well as PDFs/ODTs, etc. I have searched for solutions, but I couldn't find anything besides OpenWith, a Firefox extension which adds a button to open certain links in other browsers which would again require me to open Firefox beforehand, which does not help me at all. Does anyone have any ideas? Something like Choosy for Linux?

  Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. • IE8 is still caching my requests even with mathrandom.

  TLDR IE is still caching my requests even with Math.random() included in the URL. So I added math random onto the end of my url: var MYKMLURL = 'http://' + host + 'data/pattern?key='+ Math.random(); I also added math random onto my function param: window.setTimeout(RefreshPatternData, 1000, MYKMLLAYER); function RefreshPatternData(layer) { layer.loaded = false; layer.setVisibility(true); layer.refresh({ force: true, params: { 'key': Math.random()} }); setTimeout(RefreshPatternData, 30000, MYKMLLAYER); } So the request appears as http://host/data/pattern?key=35678652545 etc. It changes everytime the request is made. It works in Firefox & Chrome & Safari etc. But IE8 is still caching the data and not updating my layer. Any ideas as to why this might be occuring?

My question: How can that be done if I use the facebook SDK for ios? Looking at the SDK, there seem to be no notifications and no designated states that would allow me to detect that the sdk is about to background my app and about to opening either Safari or the Facebook app.

  I have setup a SSRS 2008 and building reports. So far so good. Now there is a picture control in SSRS where you can set the picture as external link reference. There you can choose to use a link. When I use a weblink (http://anyurl/download_picture.aspx?id=123) it dont' work for me. Calling the url in the web browser (all tested IE, Safari, Chrome, FF) the pictures is delivered, Header is ok, content type, too. Does it work in general in SSRS ? Or do I have to copy the picture to a temp folder and link the url like http://anyurl/mypicture.jpg.

  Not really a programming related question but... I'd like very much to experiment with WebGL on my spare time. My current 'spare time' machine is a MacBook running Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.xx) and I'm unable to find a new browser supporting this OS. Firefox dropped support, Chrome too, and Safari idem. I read somewhere that this is due to a Quicktime bug that Apple won't fix. Does anyone have more information on this issue ?   Hi guys, I am having a javascript written like this. imageDiv.onclick = function(){xyz.deleteImage(param1, param2);return false;}; Now things are fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. But I have a strange issue in Internet Explorer. What happens is, when I click on the imageDiv in my page, the deleteImage() method is getting invoked twice. One being the actual deleteimage() method thats given here and another is the deleteimage() method that I have in the page. How to resolve this issue. Please help.

• QuickTime movie disappearing from Javascript when scrolled offscreen in Firefox?

  I have a web page I'm creating that uses Javascript to control an embedded QuickTime player. I add the QuickTime movie to the page using the AC_QuickTime.js file from Apple (as described here - http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/QuickTime/Conceptual/QTScripting_HTML/QTScripting_HTML_Document/ScriptingHTML.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001525-2-SW1 ). Everything seems to be working fine - I can call methods on the QuickTime movie and control its playback (as well as get the current timestamp). The problem is that in Firefox, when I scroll down such that the QuickTime player is no longer visible, I get the following error every time I try to call a method on the QuickTime movie: Error calling method on NPObject! This does not occur in Safari. Why is this happening, and is there any way to work around this?

• How to reset persistent scrollbar position after div refresh in FF3?

  Hi, I'm experiencing a weird scrollbar issue. I'm building a page that uses jQuery and PHP to dynamically load images into a DIV sequentially. This DIV is a fixed height but uses a scrollbar for its variable width. The problem is that the scrollbar does not reset after a dynamic refresh of the DIV. So when the user scrolls and then refreshes with new content, the scroll bar position stays persistent instead of resetting back to the left. This seems to only happen in FF3. The scrollbar resets perfectly fine in Chrome, Safari, and IE8. For each refresh, the DIV is hidden, emptied, sized with CSS, then sequentially appended with images. I've tried resetting white-space: normal before the nowrap, playing around with overflow, and also jQuery's scrollLeft to no avail. It still behaves strangely in FF3, and only FF3. http://www.shadowshapes.com/uttdev/ Click a thumbnail, move the scrollbar then click another thumb. Thanks for any help!

• Ruby On Rails - Collection Select - MYSQL Database - Problem Displaying ampersand ("&")

  I am having an annoying problem displaying the labels of a select box correctly where there is an ampersand contained within the label string. On a form being rendered with the form_for helper the collection_select reads data from a Mysql 5.075 database the text stored in the database is "Surabaya & Surrounding Areas" when rendered and displayed in firefox 3.6 or safari is is displaying as "Surabaya %amp; Surrounding Areas". The code used to render the select is as follows: <%= f.collection_select :parent_id, Destination.roots, :id, :name, {:include_blank => true} %> I have tried adding a h(:name) and also storing && in the database but it still will not display the ampersand correctly. Have searched on google for what I thought would be a simple solution but cant find anything that solves this. Using ROR 2.3.5/Ruby 1.8.7 If anyone has a solution it will be much appreciated. many thanks, David
