• How to change Controllers/Models source directory in CodeIgniter

  I need to load controllers and models from a different folder than the default one. I am using a Linux system. I am building a simple CI application for some people, for use on a shared hosting I own. But I want to give them access only to /views folder and some /config files. And this is why I need to store the controllers and models in a different folder on the same level as /public_html folder or maybe somewhere in the linux system. I consider this would be a better solution than encoding files

• What is faster? Drawing or Compositing?

  I make extensive use of -drawRect: to do some nice animations. A timer tries to fire 30 times per second with -setNeedsDisplay, but it feels like just 20 times. Also I can't use -setNeedsDisplayInRect: because the animation covers the entire thing. Would it help to take some of those drawing operations out of -drawRect: and move them to a subview? -drawRect has to do less then, but instead the OS will have more work with compositing views. Is there a rule of thumb which one is more worse? I remember from an apple text that they claimed Core Animation doesn't redraw during animation. So is that their secret of speed? Using subviews in animations?

• [Cocoa] Placing an NSTimer in a separate thread

  I'm trying to setup an NSTimer in a separate thread so that it continues to fire when users interact with the UI of my application. This seems to work, but Leaks reports a number of issues - and I believe I've narrowed it down to my timer code. Currently what's happening is that updateTimer tries to access an NSArrayController (timersController) which is bound to an NSTableView in my applications interface. From there, I grab the first selected row and alter its timeSpent column. From reading around, I believe what I should be trying to do is execute the updateTimer function on the main thread, rather than in my timers secondary thread. I'm posting here in the hopes that someone with more experience can tell me if that's the only thing I'm doing wrong. Having read Apple's documentation on Threading, I've found it an overwhelmingly large subject area. • Export view data programmatically in Access/SQL Server

  We have an Access application front-end connected to a SQL Server 2000 database. We would like to be able to programmatically export the results of some views to whatever format we can (ideally Excel, but CSV / tab delimited is fine). Up until now we've just hit F11, opened up the view, and hit File-Save As, but we're starting to get results with more than 16,000 results, which can't be exported. I'd like some sort of server side stored procedure we can trigger that will do this. I'm aware of the sp_makewebtask procedure that does this, however it requires administrative rights on the server, and for obvious reasons we can't give that to everyone. Any ideas?

But my goal is to generate a PDF from a view with the media=print format and sends it in attachment by email. I have a view that displays a report. I use CSS Print to display this report in a print format. (Basically I display some elements and hide others). How can I generate a PDF from this view (with format media=print) and send it by e-mail in attachment. I am using ActionMailer to send emails and iTextSharp to generate PDFs

• Is there a better tool than postcat for viewing postfix mail queue files?

  So I got a call early this morning about a client needing to see what email they have waiting to be delivered sitting in our secondary mail server. Their link for the main server had (still is) been down for two days and they needed to see their email. So I wrote up a quick Perl script to use mailq in combination with postcat to dump each email for their address into separate files, tar'd it up and sent it off. Horrible code, I know, but it was urgent. My solution works OK in that it at least gives a raw view, but I thought tonight it would be nice if I had a solution where I could provide their email attachments and maybe remove some "garbage" header text as well. Most of the important emails seem to have a PDF or similar attached. I've been looking around but the only method of viewing queue files I can see is the postcat command, and I really don't want to write my own parser - so I was wondering if any of you have already done so, or know of a better command to use? Broadly, I can divide the tasks in following two categories: 1) Views from the website For this part, I just use the SQL query and execute it in my facebook App. 2) Create Cotent Initially, I tried this by taking the values in a form and then inserting those values into the drupal database myself. But the problem was that there are so many modules using that content. So, is there any other way to submit the contents from the facebook application to Drupal website?   I'm trying to figure out how I can call a function from another one of my classes. I'm using a RootViewController to setup one of my views as lets say AnotherViewController So in my AnotherViewController im going to add in on the .h file @class RootViewController And in the .m file im going to import the View #import "RootViewController.h" I have a function called: -(void)toggleView { //do something } And then in my AnotherViewController I have a button assigned out as: -(void)buttonAction { //} In the buttonAction I would like to be able to call the function toggleView in my RootViewController. Can someone clarify on how I do this. I've tried adding this is my buttonAction: RootViewController * returnRootObject = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; [returnRootObject toggleView]; But I dont think that's right. • Data Structure for a particular problem??

  Hi, Which data structure can perform insertion, deletion and searching operation in O(1) time in the worst case. We may assume the set of elements are integers drawn from a finite set 1,2,...,n, and initialization can take O(n) time. I can only think of implementing a hash table. Implementing it with Trees will not give O(1) time complexity for any of the operation. Or is it possible?? Kindly share your views on this, or any other data structure apart from these.. Thanks..

• Updating Label on previously loaded view?

  I am working on a simple app tab-bar based application that has two views. The first is the main application and the second is a simple instruction screen. What I am trying to do is create a update a label on that second screen as things change in the main app. Because the second screen is only simple with one label and some text I am not unloading it once its loaded. After the first viewDidLoad I can update the label just fine, but after that is there a way to catch successive view switches from the tab-bar menu so I can update the label? many thanks gary

• Range validation not working properly in MVC3

  I am generating data validation javascript in an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with the following code [DisplayName("Latitude Degrees")] [Range(0, 90, ErrorMessage = "Latitude degrees must be between {1} and {2}")] public Int32? LatitudeDegrees { get; set; } on a view model. When it was MVC2 this worked just fine, if I entered a value outside of 0-90 in the textbox I got the validation warnings. Since I moved the application to MVC 3, whenever I put any value into the texbox, legal or illegal I get the validation error appear next to it. I have EnableClientValidation set to true and UseUnobtrusiveJavascript is off (nothing in web.config or the views to turn it on).

• Problems crossing the boundary between protected greasemonkey execution space and the unsafeWindow l

  Hi guys. Here is my problem: I've registered some callbacks into a Yahoo event driven webpage (betfair.com market views) and am trapping the betsPlaced events with a handler. So far so simple. Next stage is to get the event back into greasemonkey land, and while I know that from greasemoney space you can call unsafeWindow.stuff, there is no reverse operation (by design). So if I want to send the contents of the event over, say, a cometd queue, my carefully set up jquery, greasemonkey, YUI2, betfair environment fails by telling me that unsafeWindow processes cant call GM_ajax stuff. This is obviously safe and sane, but it basically stops me doing what I want to do. Has anyone tried doing this (ignore the cometd stuff, just general ajax calls) and succeeded? I've had a look at pages like this: http://wiki.greasespot.net/0.7.20080121.0%2B_compatibility but it doesnt appear to work for all the calls.

  I want track which articles a user read on a website. Then with that data, be able to know: 1) - top N articles read in the last hour/day/week/month 2) - show recommendations ("users who read this, also read that") 3) - same as (1), but for a specific section on the site Since the site has high traffic ( 1M views/day) i can't use a RDBMS for this. I started to look at NoSQL (cassandra specifically) and since it's all new to me i'm not sure it's what i need or not. I'm possitive i'm not the first one who needs something like this but couldn't find links/articles giving me pointers on how to do something like this. Is NoSQL the best aproach? Any tips on the data model? Thanks.

  Ok, firstly this is not about forms this is about consistent layout as a user explores a site. let me explain: If we imagine a (non-ajax) digital camera online store, say someone was on the DSLR section and specified to view the cameras in Gallery mode and order by price. They then click onto the Compact camera's page. It would be in the users interests if the 'views' they selected we're carried over to this new page. Now, i'd say use a session - am i wrong? are there performance issues i should be aware of for a few small session vars ( ie view=1 , orderby=price) ?

  Hey all Basically for my final project at university, I'm developing a vehicle license plate detection application. Now I consider myself an intermediate programmer, however my mathematics knowledge lacks anything above secondary school, therefore producing detection formulae is basically impossible. I've read about a formula called the bottom hat morphology transform, which according to the first does the following: "Basically, the trans- formation keeps all the dark details of the picture, and eliminates everything else (including bigger dark regions and light regions)." Sadly I can't find much information on this, however the image within the documentation near the end of the report shows it's effectiveness. I'm aware this is complicated and vast, I'd just appreciate a little advice, even in terms of what transformation techniques I should focus on developing, or algorithm regarding edge detection or pixel detection. • Is it hacky to manually construct JSON and manually handle GET, POST instead of using a proper RESTful API for AJAX functionality?

  I started building a Django app, but this probably applies to other frameworks as well. In Backbone.js methods that call the server (fetch(), create(), destroy(), etc.), should you be using a proper RESTful API such as one provided by Tastypie or Django-Piston? I've founded it easier and more flexible to just construct the JSON in my Django Views, which are mapped to some URLs that Backbone.js can use. Then again, I'm probably not leveraging Tastypie/Django-Piston functionality to the fullest. I'm not ready to make a full-fledged RESTful API for my app yet. I simply would like to use some of the AJAXy functionality that Backbone.js supports. Pros/Cons of doing this?

• What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

  I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one.
