  • how to ouput text to java console from servlet

    I have a servlet. But it is not working as desired. Hence for debugging purposes, I want to print statements to the java console(the one that can be opened using the java icon in taskbar). However, if I use System.out.println("message"), it doesnt display in java console. Is there any alternative way where I can display messages to the console from the servlet? Or can anyone suggest me an alternative way to display messages to any other console?

    Project Euler I have recently begun to solve some of the Project Euler riddles. I found the discussion forum in the site a bit frustrating (most of the discussions are closed and poorly-threaded), So I have decided to publish my Python solutions on launchpad for discussion. The problem is that it seems quite unethical to publish these solutions, as it would let other people gain reputation without doing the programming work, which the site deeply discourages. My Encryption problem I want to encrypt my answers so that only those who have already solved the riddles can see my code. The logical key would be the answer to the riddle, which is always numeric. In order to prevent brute-force attacks on my answers, I want to find an encryption algorithm that takes a significantly long time (few seconds) to run. Do you know any such algorithm? I would fancy a Python package, which I can attach to the code, over an external program that might have portability issues. Thanks, Adam

    Does the Prototype Javascript library have a selector that's equivalent to jQuery's :contains()? If not, what would what be "The Prototype Way" to selector/filter-down a list of elements that contains a particular string. For example, using the following $$('#some_div dd a') I may get back an array of 50 or so links. I only want the links that contain the work 'home'. In jQuery I'd do this jQuery('#some_div dd a:contains('home')'); Is it possible to do something similar using Prototype? If not, is there an elegant way to filter out the array of 50 elements that gets returned.

    I am developing a firefox extension and ideally would be able to get the whole darn DOM as a string.. forget any data structure. I just want what I see in "view source" in a buffer. I have been checking out javascript references and HTMLDocument etc. with no avail. Ideally I would be able to write to this buffer as well (seems possible i.e. document.writeLn()) I wish there was a document.read()? Am I just a js noob?

  • System.Drawing - bad text rendering using DrawString on top of transparent pixels.

    When rendering text into a bitmap, I find that text looks very bad when rendered on top of an area with non-opaque alpha. The problem is progressively worse as the underlying pixels become more transparent. If I had to guess I'd say that when underlying pixels are transparent, the text renderer draws any anti-aliased 'gray' pixels as solid black.     I feel very silly asking this, since it seems like it just should work, but I cannot make it work and cannot find anything in the documentation about this. The problem: I'm developing an application in Visual Studio 2010 that is utilizing ReportViewer, rendering the report locally. In the report designer, I place a textbox on top of an image. This looks fine in the designer, but when rendering the report, the textbox is rendered below the image. Now, before you suggest it, I have tried placing a textbox on top of a rectangle (or other control) with the BackgroundImage property set. This works. But: I cannot find a way to rescale the background image to fit the control. Setting a different dpi for the background image does nothing. Simply rescaling the image to a different resolution is not an option, since I eventually want to print the report. Does anybody have a solution to this?

    I have login/signup popups on my site which are in hidden div by default. According to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1547426/google-seo-and-hidden-elements googlebot should NOT see it. But Google Webmaster tool says that keywords "email" and "password" are top keywords over the site. Why it is so? Why google bot sees them? Should I worry about relevancy of top keywords at all?

    I've written a WCF IDispatchMessageInspector, so I can log incomming and outgoing messages. But I'm not sure how to get a nicely-formatted XML string to log. My code looks something like this: public object AfterReceiveRequest(ref Message request, IClientChannel channel, InstanceContext instanceContext) { MessageBuffer buffer = request.CreateBufferedCopy(Int32.MaxValue); request = buffer.CreateMessage(); Log("Received", request.ToString(); return null; } The result of this logging includes things like "ampersand lt;" and some sort of binary-encoded data.     Hi all, I have a task list, with ability to assign users. So i have foreignkey to User model in the database. However, the default display is username in the dropdown menu, i would like to display full name (first last) instead of the username. If the foreignkey is pointing to one of my own classes, i can just change the str function in the model, but User is a django authentication model, so i can't easily change it directly right?   • R: ca plotting text attributes

    Does anyone know of a way to control the font size/color/weight of the row and column names when plotting a correspondence plot with the ca package? The following code will produce a very nice looking chart, though if there were more attributes (very heavy, super heavy, something more than super heavy) or more classes of workers (peons, underlings, etc) then the graph will get a little cluttered and hard to tell what was what. It would be nice if you could list all the attributes in a separate color than the categories of workers. library(ca) data("smoke") plot(ca(smoke) , map = "symmetric" , what =c("active","active") , mass = c(T,T) , contrib = "absolute" , col = c("red","blue") , pch = c(15,17,15,17) , labels = c(2,2) , arrows = c(T,F) ) Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a way to reproduce something along these lines with ggplot2?
