• Fedora 11 System - Failed Hard Drive Removed, and Boot gets GRUB Hard Disk Error

  Greetings, I have a machine with a 120GB ATA drive that has what I thought to be non-essential data on it. I also have a 320GB SATA hard drive with the OS/Application/Files (good data I want to keep). My 120GB ATA is failing I believe, as my computer kept slowing to a halt. However, when I move the drive from BIOS my computer will not start, says "GRUB Hard Disk Error". I know that my Fedora system has an LVM setup. I am looking to just remove the 120GB drive from "the mix", and just have one hard drive. How do I recover ? Thank you. I have access to a Linux Live CD right now and can make any changes. However, it won't boot into my OS - it fails. I've been considering migrating to slackware. However, it seems slackware does not have a package management system. How would I learn about new security updates?   I can't change Firefox's menu background color using userChrome.css on Windows 7. menubar, menubutton, menulist, menu, menuitem { color: red !important; background-color: orange !important; } This seems to work as the menubar changes to red and orange. But the background-color on the actual drop down menu stays the same (that Windows 7 menu look), although the text color does change to red. Any ideas??

  Good morning, I have a registry key that changes local users Internet Explorer LAN Settings to uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" tickbox. When I add this policy to the Terminal Servers user group it has no effect. I exported this key from my own registry after unticking the box. My computer runs Windows Vista Business Edition. Environment: We are using Server 2008 RC2 environment - two terminal servers with a session broker. Any idea's on how to get this working?

• Make logwatch reports more interesting?

  Is it possible to improve the quality of reports from logwatch? Like make it not just report disk usage which doesn't even change much in daily operation, but report significant changes in usage or approaching critical capacity levels? If I cannot do that with logwatch and instead have to write custom scripts to produce such reports, logwatch appears to be pretty useless, or even dangerous, as many users reportedly grow to ignore emails from it knowing they are so boring.

• Rsync and Lazy mode ?

  Since transferring or copying a file that is being used sometimes causes corruption of the transferred file, can we define a time interval in which Rsync checks each file in a given directory to see if there is a change within that time interval ? Files that are not changed during that interval will be transferred, while those that have changes will not. Can I do that with rsync ? Or another tool ? Is there a script to add this functionality to Rsync ? Thanks

There are a lot of files in my folder and I would need that after I edit some files or add/remove folder to be able to sync the changes to the webdav server ignoring what it is on the server and always using my files.   I'm trying to install SQL Compact 3.5 SP2 after I've installed SQL 2012 RC0, on a x64 Windows 7. The x86 installer goes through fine. The x64 installer fails, with the error: "Error 25543.Failed to save changes to XML file c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024864" Note the \CONFIG (double backslash) where there should be a single backslash... any ideas why this is happening and how to solve it?

  I've just installed an Ubuntu Lucid 64bit image (from Stacklet) as a Xen DomU, running under Xen 3.2.1 on Centos 5.2 64bit. Everything is working fine, except my logs are flooded with: /dev/hvc0: No such file or directory I tried creating the device with mknod /dev/hvc0 c 229 0 but the message just changes to: /dev/hvc0: cannot open as standard input: No such device or address Any hint on what I could try? :(

The problem is that a different desktop loads for only one specific user no matter what changes I make in administrative templates. If I copy this user profile and paste it into another group with a different name, windows workaround loads as it should, but some policies are not applied. Does anybody know a way to solve this problem instead of creating a new group and user from scratch?
