  • NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert reported when only updates are taking place

    - by niblha
I have a class that acts as a NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate which is receiving messages to -(void)controller:didChangeObject:atIndexPath:forChangeType:newIndexPath: with change type NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert, but the actual object which is the subject has with certainty not been newly inserted, only updated. So I would expect to get a change message with type NSFetchedResultsChangeUpdate, should I not? If i check the value of isInserted on the object, it yields false (as expected from the logic in my program). So my question is, why is this reported as an insert when it is only a change/update? They only thing I can think of is that part of the changes that are taking place is that objects of another entity type are inserted with relationships to objects of the entity type that the NSFetchedResultsController is set up to fetch.

  • simple CATextLayer scaling problem

    - by dersubtile
I'm having a simple scaling problem with CATextLayer, but i just couldn't figure it out: I want the CATextLayer to proportionally grow in size with it's superlayer: if the superlayer's width is 300 the text size of CATextLayer should be 12 and if the supeview's width is 600 the text size should be 24. I couldn't find a working solution! Can you please give me a clue? Thanks, Julian.

  • Can two managed object context share one single persistent store coordinator?

    - by mystify
Example: I have one persistent store coordinator which uses one single persistent store. Now there are two managed object contexts, and both want to use the same persistent store. Could both simply use the same persistent store coordinator, or would I have to create two instances of NSPersistentStoreCoordinator? And if I had to, then: Would I also have to create two NSPersistentStore instances?

  • Is there any data missing?

    - by smwikipedia
Hi experts, Here is some code quoted from Douglas.E.Comer's < Computer Networks and Internets 4th edition. This program will send back any data it received. ... while((len = recv(conn, buff, BUFFERSIZE,0)) >0) // receive data send(conn, buff, len, 0); // send it back ... I am wondering, what if some data arrived when the code is executing in send(..) function, will it miss that data? Because the recv() function is not being executed. If no data is missed, where is the data kept? And by whom? Thanks...

  • Blur CALayer's Superlayer

    - by eaigner
Hi. I've got a CALayer and a sublayer in it. What i want to achieve is a blur of the superlayer (the area under the sublayer), just like the standard sheets do it. I've tried to set a .compositingFilter on the sublayer but this doesn't seem to work. Any ideas how to solve this?

  • Quartz 2D animating text?

    - by coure06
i have to animate text around a circle. The text will also scale up/down. Whats the best approach to accomplish this? (i am using Quartz 2D) My approach is: -- Calculate point using sin and cos methods. -- Move Pen there and draw text with alpha and size. -- Clear the screen -- Calculate next point using sin and cos methods. -- Move pen there and draw text with alpha and size. -- clear the screen so on... any better way?

  • NSData in CoreData is not saving properly

    - by abisson
I am currently trying to store images I download from the web into an NSManagedObject class so that I don't have to redownload it every single time the application is opened. I currently have these two classes. Plant.h @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * name; @property (nonatomic, retain) PlantPicture *picture; PlantPicture.h @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * bucketName; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * creationDate; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSData * pictureData; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * slug; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * urlWithBucket; Now I do the following: - (UICollectionViewCell *)collectionView:(UICollectionView *)collectionView cellForItemAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { PlantCollectionCell *cell = [collectionView dequeueReusableCellWithReuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; Plant *plant = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; cell.plantLabel.text = plant.name; if(plant.picture.pictureData == nil) { NSLog(@"Downloading"); NSMutableString *pictureUrl = [[NSMutableString alloc]initWithString:amazonS3BaseURL]; [pictureUrl appendString:plant.picture.urlWithBucket]; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:pictureUrl]]; AFImageRequestOperation *imageOperation = [AFImageRequestOperation imageRequestOperationWithRequest:request success:^(UIImage *image) { cell.plantImageView.image = image; plant.picture.pictureData = [[NSData alloc]initWithData:UIImageJPEGRepresentation(image, 1.0)]; NSError *error = nil; if (![_managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); } }]; [imageOperation start]; } else { NSLog(@"Already"); cell.plantImageView.image = [UIImage imageWithData:plant.picture.pictureData]; } NSLog(@"%@", plant.name); return cell; } The plant information is present, as well as the picture object. However, the NSData itself is NEVER saved throughout the application opening and closing. I always have to REDOWNLOAD the image! Any ideas!? [Very new to CoreData... sorry if it is easy!] thanks!

  • Calling NSFetchedResultsController & CoreData experts

    - by JK
I am having a few nagging issues with NSFetchedResultsController and CoreData, any of which I would be very grateful to get help on. Issue 1 - Updates: I update my store on a background thread which results in certain rows being delete, inserted or updated. The changes are merged into the context on the main thread using the "mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification:" method. Inserts and deletes are updated properly, but updates are not (e.g. the cell label is not updated with the change) although I have confirmed the updates to come through the contextDidSaveNotifcation, exactly like the inserts and deleted. My current workaround is to temporarily change the staleness interval of the context to 0, but this does not seem like the ideal solution. Issue 2 - Deleting objects: My fetch batch size is 20. If an object is deleted by the background thread which is in the first 20 rows, everything works fine. But if the object is after the first 20 rows and the table is scrolled down, a "CoreData could not fulfill a fault" error is raised. I have tried resaving the context and reperforming the frc fetch - all to no avail. Note: In this scenario, the frc delegate method "didChangeObject...." is not called for the delete - I assume this is because the object in question had not been faulted at that time (as it is was outside the initial fetch range). But for some reason, the context still thinks the object is around, although is has been deleted from the store. Issue 3 - Deleting sections : When the deletion of a row leads to the deletion of a section, I have gotten the "invalid number of rows in section???" error. I have worked around this by removing the "reloadSection" line from the NSFetchedResultsChangeMove: section and replacing it with "[tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths...." This seems to work, but once again, I am not sure if this is the best solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Strange behavior: save video recorded within app?

    - by Josue Espinosa
I allow the user to record a video within my app, then later play it again. When a user records a video, I save the URL of the video, then play the video later from the saved URL. I save the video both in the Photos app and in my app. If I delete the video within the photos app, it still plays. After about 7 days, the video gets deleted. I think I am saving in my tmp directory, but i'm not sure. Here is what I am doing: -(void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { NSString *mediaType = [info objectForKey: UIImagePickerControllerMediaType]; [self dismissViewControllerAnimated:YES completion:nil]; // Handle a movie capture if (CFStringCompare ((__bridge_retained CFStringRef) mediaType, kUTTypeMovie, 0) == kCFCompareEqualTo) { NSString *moviePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[[info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerMediaURL] path]]; NSURL *videoURL = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerMediaURL]; NSData *videoData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:videoURL]; _justRecordedVideoURL = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",videoURL]; AppDelegate *appDelegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; _managedObjectContext = [appDelegate managedObjectContext]; Video *video = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Video" inManagedObjectContext:_managedObjectContext]; [video setVideoData:videoData]; [video setVideoURL:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",videoURL]]; NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; dateFormatter.dateStyle = NSDateFormatterLongStyle; [dateFormatter setDateStyle:NSDateFormatterLongStyle]; NSDate *date = [dateFormatter dateFromString:[dateFormatter stringFromDate:[NSDate date]]]; NSString *dateAdded = [dateFormatter stringFromDate:date]; [video setDate_recorded:dateAdded]; if(_currentAthlete != nil){ [video setWhosVideo:_currentAthlete]; } NSError *error = nil; if(![_managedObjectContext save:&error]){ //handle dat error } NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *tempPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingFormat:@"/vid1.mp4"]; BOOL success = [videoData writeToFile:tempPath atomically:NO]; if(success == FALSE){ NSLog(@"Video was not successfully saved."); } if (UIVideoAtPathIsCompatibleWithSavedPhotosAlbum(moviePath)) { UISaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum(moviePath, self, @selector(video:didFinishSavingWithError:contextInfo:), nil); } } } Am I saving it incorrectly? When I go to play the video, it works fine, after a couple days the video will play without audio, then eventually it will be gone. Any ideas why?

  • animating adding/removing layers on iPhone

    - by magesteve
On the iPhone, when you add a sub layer to a visible view's layer, using either -addSublayer: or -removeFromSuperlayer, shouldn't that sub layer appear or disappear in an animated manner (ie. fade in or fade out gradually)? My program animates using layers (not views). When I change a property of a layer like position or image content, then the change does animate (layer streaks around it's parent layer, the layer fades from the old image to the new image), so I obviously have the layers & view setup correctly. However, when I add or remove a sub layer, the change occurs instantly; there is no animation. Reading the references, it says that if the layer is visible, the sub layer should animate when adder or removed. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone had a similar problem, and was able to find a solution? Thank you, Steve Sheets

  • Repeating animations using the Stop Selector

    - by Tiago
I'm trying to repeat an animation until a certain condition is met. Something like this: - (void) animateUpdate { if (inUpdate) { [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:2.0]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate: self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector: @selector(animateUpdate)]; button.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( M_PI ); [UIView commitAnimations]; } } This will run the first time, but it won't repeat. The selector will just be called until the application crashes. How should I do this? Thanks.

  • UIView to Form Sheet flip animation rotation issue

    - by GSD
    I have this view to form sheet flip animation that works great in portrait mode but not in any other orientations. In my code, I use it with a UIView embedded in another UIView, which is in the root view. The animation will be rotated. Anyone has an idea why? - (void)presentModalViewControllerWithFlipAnimation:(UIViewController *)modalViewController fromView:(UIView *)fromView { UIWindow* window = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] windows][0]; _fromViewSnapshot = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:fromView.bounds]; UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(fromView.bounds.size); [fromView.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; [_fromViewSnapshot setImage:UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext()]; [_fromViewSnapshot sizeToFit]; UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); _fromViewSnapshot.autoresizesSubviews = YES; _fromViewSnapshot.frame = [fromView.superview convertRect:fromView.frame toView:window]; [window addSubview:_fromViewSnapshot]; fromView.hidden = YES; modalViewController.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; [self presentViewController:modalViewController animated:NO completion:nil]; UIView __weak *presentedView = modalViewController.view.superview; UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(presentedView.bounds.size); [presentedView.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage* modalSnapshot = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); UIView __weak *presentationSuperview = presentedView.superview; [presentedView removeFromSuperview]; UIImageView* presentationSnapshotView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:modalSnapshot]; presentationSnapshotView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingNone; [_fromViewSnapshot.superview bringSubviewToFront:_fromViewSnapshot]; [UIView animateWithDuration:kFlipAnimationScaleSpeed delay:0 options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseIn|UIViewAnimationOptionBeginFromCurrentState animations: ^{ [UIView animateWithDuration:kFlipAnimationScaleSpeed delay:0 options:UIViewAnimationOptionBeginFromCurrentState animations: ^{ _fromViewSnapshot.frame = [_fromViewSnapshot.superview convertRect:presentedView.frame fromView:presentationSuperview]; } completion:nil]; } completion:^(BOOL finished) { [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; [UIView transitionWithView:_fromViewSnapshot duration:kFlipAnimationSpeed options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseIn|UIViewAnimationOptionTransitionFlipFromRight animations: ^{ presentationSnapshotView.frame = _fromViewSnapshot.bounds; [_fromViewSnapshot addSubview:presentationSnapshotView]; } completion:^(BOOL finished) { [presentationSuperview addSubview:presentedView]; [presentationSnapshotView removeFromSuperview]; [_fromViewSnapshot removeFromSuperview]; }]; }]; } - (void)dismissViewControllerWithFlipAnimation:(UIView*)fromView completion:(void (^)(void))completion { UIWindow* window = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] windows][0]; UIView __weak *presentedView = self.presentedViewController.view.superview; UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(presentedView.bounds.size); [presentedView.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage* modalSnapshot = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); [presentedView removeFromSuperview]; UIImageView* presentationSnapshotView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:modalSnapshot]; presentationSnapshotView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingNone; presentationSnapshotView.frame = presentedView.frame; [window addSubview:presentationSnapshotView]; [UIView animateWithDuration:kFlipAnimationScaleSpeed delay:0 options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseIn|UIViewAnimationOptionBeginFromCurrentState animations: ^{ [UIView animateWithDuration:kFlipAnimationScaleSpeed delay:0 options:UIViewAnimationOptionBeginFromCurrentState animations: ^{ presentationSnapshotView.frame = [fromView.superview convertRect:fromView.frame toView:window]; } completion:nil]; } completion:^(BOOL finished) { [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; [UIView transitionWithView:presentationSnapshotView duration:kFlipAnimationSpeed options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseIn|UIViewAnimationOptionTransitionFlipFromLeft animations: ^{ _fromViewSnapshot.frame = presentationSnapshotView.bounds; [presentationSnapshotView setImage:[(UIImageView*)_fromViewSnapshot image]]; [self dismissViewControllerAnimated:NO completion:nil]; } completion:^(BOOL finished) { [presentationSnapshotView removeFromSuperview]; _fromViewSnapshot = nil; completion(); }]; }]; }

  • Added CAGradientLayer, getting this in my UIView dealloc: [CALayer release]: message sent to deallocated instance

    - by developerdoug
Here there, I have a custom UIView. This view acts as a activity indicator but as label above the UIActivityIndicatorView. In the init, I add a CAGradientLayer. I allocate and initialize it and insert it at index 0 as a sublayer of the UIView layer property. In my dealloc method was called, I received a message in the console: - [CALayer release]: message sent to deallocated instance. My code: @interface LabelActivityIndicatorView () { UILabel *_label; UIActivityIndicatorView *_activityIndicatorView; CAGradientLayer *_gradientLayer; } @end @implementation LabelActivityIndicatorView //dealloc - (void) dealloc { [_label release]; [_activityIndicatorView release]; //even tried to remove the layer [_gradientLayer removeFromSuperLayer]; [_gradientLayer release]; [super dealloc]; } // init - (id) initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if ( (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) ) { // init the label // init the gradient layer _gradientLayer = [[CAGradientLayer alloc] init]; [_gradientLayer setBounds:[self bounds]]; [_gradientLayer setPosition:CGPointMake(frame.size.width/2, frame.size.height/2)]; [[self layer] insertSublayer:_gradientLayer atIndex:0]; [[self layer] setNeedsDisplay]; } return self; } @end Anyone have any ideas. Since I'm allocating and initializing the gradient layer I'm responsible for releasing it. I should be able to alloc and init and assign to some ivar. Perhaps I should create a property with retain on it. Thanks,
