  • Desktop appliciations are unable to launch my browser in Windows 8

    I have a fresh copy of Windows 8 Pro installed from MSDN. I have Google Chrome installed (stable channel) and it is set as my default browser. I even went into Control Panel Default Programs to ensure that Chrome had all its defaults. When other desktop applications try to launch my browser they always fail. For example, while trying to install the Android SDK for Windows the installer accurately detected that I did not have the JDK installed. It provides a friendly button to visit java.oracle.com. When pressing this button, nothing happens at all. You can see that here: http://youtu.be/XXL8GhuWWg0 If it were only that application that was having issues I wouldn't think anything of it but I have been encountering similar issues all over the place. Probably the most irritating one is when visual studio has updates; clicking the update button does nothing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwd1mn3TId0 You can see in that screencast that Visual Studio is not able to launch the browser no matter what I click. The update button doesn't do anything and neither do the two links in the update's description. Any suggestions? I'm assuming it's a Windows issue since it is happening in multiple applications. UPDATE: Setting IE as the default browser fixes the issue. So it has something to do with it not being able to launch Chrome programmatically. Is it even possible to workaround this bug or do I have to suffer with IE as default for now?

    Hi, I'm trying to set up an OpenVPN VPN, which will carry some (but not all) traffic from the clients to the internet via the OpenVPN server. My OpenVPN server has a public IP on eth0, and is using tap0 to create a local network, 192.168.2.x. I have a client which connects from local IP 192.168.1.101 and gets VPN IP 192.168.2.3. On the server, I ran: iptables -A INPUT -i tap+ -j ACCEPT iptables -A FORWARD -i tap+ -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.2.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE On the client, the default remains to route via 192.168.1.1. In order to point it to 192.168.2.1 for HTTP, I ran ip rule add fwmark 0x50 table 200 ip route add table 200 default via 192.168.2.1 iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -j MARK -p tcp --dport 80 --set-mark 80 Now, if I try accessing a website on the client (say, wget google.com), it just hangs there.     I'm running Ubuntu on Parallels on a MacBook, and there is no middle-click on the MacBook trackpad - which is annoying because it means you can't do X's paste action. Is there an alternative? I'm hoping there is a keyboard binding to X's paste or better a way to bind a keyboard key/combination to the middle-click action. Edit: I know about the emulate three-button mouse option, but that won't work for me because the trackpad only allows you to click one button at a time

    I'm trying to use Ditto on the Ditto documentation. If I were to copy the table of contents, then paste it (without Ditto) to the word processor, I get http://i.imgur.com/V1GU3.png, and the formatting is maintained. As as a result of the copy operation, the table of contents also goes into the Saved Items List (= History List = Lists the Clips saved from the Clipboard) in Ditto’s Main Window: I open a blank document to paste from Ditto instead of the default clipboard, and press either Ctrl-`, the default Ditto window activation Global Hot Key, or click the tray icon. From this point, I can do 3 things to close the Ditto window, and place the item on the clipboard (the default clipboard?). Select the item, and press Enter Put the cursor on the item, and double-click Select the item, and press Ctrl-c 1) and 2) send a right-click where the cursor is, after the Ditto window closes (presumably to have the paste option ready to access?): Ctrl-c just closes the Ditto window. Whichever method is used, the contents are pasted in what I believe is plain text: http://i.imgur.com/mQAZH.png How do I keep the formatting that the default clipboard keeps? Thanks.

    Application Server Windows Server 2003 SP2 with IIS 6.0 IIS has a "Default Web Site" (port 18000, ssl 443, ID=1) with a certificate created by me. I have an specific site called "scj.galaxy.Weekly" (port 80, ssl 443, ID=1272369728) that is working fine. I have an entry in windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts that links galaxy.Weekly.scjdev.ds to the server ip in both my local machine and in the application Server. These sites works: http://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.html works http://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.aspx works But https://scj.galaxy.weekly/test.html fails Error message is: The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The certificate was working fine for months. It was created with something similar to this: Selfssl /N:CN=*.scjdev.ds /V:3650 /S:1 /P:443 I have tried several options and none of them are working: 1) Create a certificate only in "Default Web Site" and link it to SecureBindings with command prompt cscript adsutil.vbs set /w3svc/1272369728/SecureBindings ":443:galaxy.Weekly.scjdev.ds" 2) Create a certificate only in "Galaxy Site" and link it to SecureBindings 3) Create a certificate in both and link them to secureBindings. Probably I am missing an step or something, but I can't see it.     I'm trying to get Solr to listen on 0.0.0.0 instead of just localhost, and it doesn't seem to be picking up the configuration options. I downloaded apache-solr-1.4.1 from the Solr website, and I'm running: user@:apache-solr-1.4.1/example $ java -jar start.jar With these configuration options: <Call name="addConnector"> <Arg> <New class="org.mortbay.jetty.bio.SocketConnector"> <Set name="host"><SystemProperty name="jetty.host" default="0.0.0.0" /></Set> <Set name="port"><SystemProperty name="jetty.port" default="8983" /></Set> <Set name="maxIdleTime">50000</Set> <Set name="lowResourceMaxIdleTime">1500</Set> </New> </Arg> </Call> Where the only line changed from the default is this one: <Set name="host"><SystemProperty name="jetty.host" default="0.0.0.0" /></Set> And when I check netstat, I see this: $ netstat -an | egrep 'Proto|\b8983\b' Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8983 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp6 0 0 ::1:8983 :::* LISTEN Where Local Address should be 0.0.0.0:8983 instead of 127.0.0.1:8983. Does anyone know why this might not be working?

    Is it possible to add a send/receive action to the Outlook 2007 system tray right-click context menu? It's a little annoying to have to open the whole interface just to run this simple action manually. I have searched for an answer, but could only find two other unanswered questions. If there's no particular answer as of yet, would it make more sense to explore making a plug-in like this one to keep running in the systray when closed, or to look for a registry hack, or something else entirely?

ServerSignature takes one argument, En-/disable server signature (on|off|email) Action 'configtest' failed. Where do I find Apache's configtest declaration, so I can tell it to accept Prod and Off?

  • trying to convert rails 2.3.4 app to rails 3 but views not appearing

    I have a simple rails 2.3.4 application I am trying to get running with rails 3.0.0-beta2. I have the server running and all my links and navigation showing, however for some reason the content of my views is not displaying. When I navigate to Site/index the html in my index.html.erb in my site view is completely ignored. There are no errors in the server log. My template is rendered properly (where all the links and navigation are being created) within application.html.erb however all of my actual view files are being ignored. Has anyone experienced this? I am using old style routing with map.connect, could this be the issue? Does anyone have a tutorial on how to convert old routes to new ones? I couldn't figure it out. my current routes look like this: map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' map.root :controller => :site, :action => :index

  • iPad and UIPickerView (or UIDatePickerView)

    Hey all, Has anyone had any luck using a UIPicker in the 3.2 SDK? I'm in the middle of porting an iPhone application over to an iPad and that's the one thing I can't seem to get to work. I've tried... -Creating an action sheet, add the picker as a subview and displaying it. -Creating that above action sheet, making it the view of a generic ViewController, adding that VC to a UIPopover -Making just the picker the view of a generic ViewController, adding that VC to a UIPopover With the action sheet it doesn't even attempt to draw it. In the popover view it attempts to draw but doesn't get rendered correctly. Just wanted to check to see if anyone has accomplished this and if so how. Thanks everyone!

  • Launch market place with id of an application that doesn't exist in the android market place

    Hi, I am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id. When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch. Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place. But I don't see how they implement it. I'm expecting e.g. a "search:true" and a method to implement it. Has anyone implemented search on jqgrid or know of examples that show explicitly how to do it?

    Hi, guys. I have an ASP.NET MVC page where the model is being edited. On each action executing I have a new controller, so I don't get an updated model. I'm saving a model instance into Session["MyModelKey"]. But every time an action is executed, I have unmodified instance there even if I have changed values in textboxes which were created like this: @Html.LabelFor(model = model.EMail) @Html.TextBoxFor(model = model.EMail) @Html.LabelFor(model = model.Country) @Html.TextBoxFor(model = model.Country) @Html.ActionLink("MyAction", "MyController") Controller: public class MyController : Controller { public ActionResult MyAction() { //Every time this action is executed - I have a new controller instance //So I have null in View.Model //I get Session["MyModelKey"] here, //But the model instance properties are not updated //even though I have updated E-mail and Country properties of the model in the UI } } So, how can I get an updated model?   • Enumerating .NET assembly resources at runtime

    I have a resource assembly with image files in it that are built using Resource or Content build action. This makes these files accessible using the Uris. However I cannot find the way to enumerate such resources. If I set the build action to Embedded Resource it becomes possible to enumerate the files with the following code: string[] resources = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetManifestResourceNames(); but it in turn makes these files inaccessible using Uris. The question is - how to enumerate resources that are compiled with either Resource or Content build action? NOTE: As Thomas Levesque pointed out it is possible to enumerate such resources by leveraging the AssemblyAssociatedContentFileAttribute, but it seems to only work for WPF Application assemblies and not for class library ones. So the question is still open.

    I'm trying to write some c++ code that tests if a string is in a particular format. In this program there is a height followed by some decimal numbers: for example "height 123.45" or "height 12" would return true but "SomeOtherString 123.45" would return false. My first attempt at this was to write the following: string action; cin >> action; boost::regex EXPR( "^height \\d*(\\.\\d{1,2})?$/" ) ;//height format regex bool height_format_matches = boost::regex_match( action, EXPR ) ; if(height_format_matches==true){ \\do some stuff } However height_format_matches never seemed to be true. Any help is greatly appreciated!
