  • How can I get an Android TableLayout to fill the screen?

    - by Timmmm
    Hi, I'm battling with Android's retarded layout system. I'm trying to get a table to fill the screen (simple right?) but it's ridiculously hard. I got it to work somehow in XML like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <TableRow android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"> <Button android:text="A" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <Button android:text="B" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> </TableRow> <TableRow android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"> <Button android:text="C" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <Button android:text="D" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> </TableRow> However I can not get it to work in Java. I've tried a million combinations of the LayoutParams, but nothing ever works. This is the best result I have which only fills the width of the screen, not the height: table = new TableLayout(this); // Java. You suck. TableLayout.LayoutParams lp = new TableLayout.LayoutParams( ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT); table.setLayoutParams(lp); // This line has no effect! WHYYYY?! table.setStretchAllColumns(true); for (int r = 0; r < 2; ++r) { TableRow row = new TableRow(this); for (int c = 0; c < 2; ++c) { Button btn = new Button(this); btn.setText("A"); row.addView(btn); } table.addView(row); } Obviously the Android documentation is no help. Anyone have any ideas?

  • UITableView with background UIImageView hides table controls

    - by Khanzor
    I am having a problem setting the background of UITableView to a UIImageView (see below for why I am doing this), once the view is set, it works fine, and scrolls with the UITableView, but it hides the elements of the Table View. I need to have a UIImageView as the background for a UITableView. I know this has been answered before, but the answers are to use: [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; Or something like (which I need to use): UIImageView *background = [MainWindow generateBackgroundWithFrame:tableView.bounds]; [tableView addSubview:background]; [tableView sendSubviewToBack:background]; The reason I need to use the latter is because of my generateBackgroundWithFrame method, which takes a large image, and draws a border around that image to the dimensions specified, and clips the remainder of the image: + (UIImageView *) generateBackgroundWithFrame: (CGRect)frame { UIImageView *background = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; background.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"globalBackground.png"]; [background.layer setMasksToBounds:YES]; [background.layer setCornerRadius:10.0]; [background.layer setBorderColor:[[UIColor grayColor] CGColor]]; [background.layer setBorderWidth:3.0]; return background; } Please note: I understand that this might poorly effect performance, but I don't have the resources to go through and make those images for each potential screen in the app. Please do not answer this question with a mindless "you shouldn't do this" response. I am aware that it is possibly the wrong thing to do. How do I show my UITableView control elements? Is there something that I am doing wrong in my delegate? Here is a simplified version: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20, 20, 261, 45) reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton; UIImage *rowBackground; NSString *imageName = @"standAloneTVButton.png"; rowBackground = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName]; UITextView *textView = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 5, 300, 200)]; textView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; textView.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; textView.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:18.0f]; Purchase *purchase = [[PurchaseModel productsPurchased] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; textView.text = [purchase Title]; selectedTextView.text = textView.text; UIImageView *normalBackground = [[[UIImageView alloc] init] autorelease]; normalBackground.image = rowBackground; [normalBackground insertSubview:textView atIndex:0]; cell.backgroundView = normalBackground; [textView release]; } return cell; }

  • Silverlight Update/Trigger IValueConverter in Listbox DataTemplate in a DataGrid

    - by LJ
    Hi I am building an application to display a datagrid bound to an ObservableCollection of Records, where each record has a Course Object and an ObservableCollection of Results Objects. The course is changed using an autocomplete box. The results collection is displayed in a Listbox with an IValueConverter implementation to change the colour of the ellipse template based on criteria of the course currently selected. It works great on loading, but subsequent updates to the course selection via the autocomplete does not trigger a recalculation/refresh of the value converter. Is there a way to trigger the refresh in XAML. I added UpdateSource=Property changed to the binding of the list box - but this caused a stack overflow (haha). Here is the code: <data:DataGrid x:Name="MyDatGrid"> <data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Results"> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding ListOfResults}"> <ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Ellipse Width="20" Height="20" Fill="{Binding Converter={StaticResource resultToBrushConverter} }" Stroke="Black" StrokeThickness="1" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Course" > <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Border> <input:AutoCompleteBox ItemsSource="{Binding Courses, Source={StaticResource coursesSource}}"/> </Border> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> I managed to subscribe to the LostFocus Event on the autocomplete box and reset a filter that I already have on the datagrid. But isn;t this very inefficient ? Refreshing the view on the datagrid does not have any effect in that method. Any steps in the right direction are greatly appreciated. Trying to prevent myself going anymore grey :) Had thoughts of getting the binding expression of the list in the grid and updating it, but no clue ? Thanks guys

  • Building a template to auto-scaffold Index views in ASP.NET MVC

    - by DanM
    I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. Here's what I have so far: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" %> <% var items = (IQueryable<TestProj.ViewModels.TestViewModel>)Model; // Should be generic! var properties = items.First().GetMetadata().Properties .Where(pm => pm.ShowForDisplay && !ViewData.TemplateInfo.Visited(pm)); %> <table> <tr> <% foreach(var property in properties) { %> <th> <%= property.DisplayName %> </th> <% } %> </tr> <% foreach(var item in items) { %> <tr> <% foreach(var property in properties) { %> <td> <%= Html.Display(property.DisplayName) %> // This doesn't work! </td> <% } %> </tr> <% } %> </table> Two problems with this: I'd like it to be generic. So, I'd like to replace var items = (IQueryable<TestProj.ViewModels.TestViewModel>)Model; with var items = (IQueryable<T>)Model; or something to that effect. The <td> elements are not working because the Html in <%= Html.Display(property.DisplayName) %> contains the model for the view, which is a collection of items, not the item itself. Somehow, I need to obtain an HtmlHelper object whose Model property is the current item, but I'm not sure how to do that. How do I solve these two problems?

  • Expand and Shrink UIScrollView with animation

    - by Dilip Rajkumar
    I am having a UITableView inside a scrollview. So I am trying to do a accordion like component using UITableView. So I need to expand the UITableView to add more cell. In that case I have to increase the height of UIScrollView with a animation so that it matches the table animation. - (NSIndexPath *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSInteger row = [indexPath row]; BOOL preventReopen = NO; if (row == expandedRowIndex + 1 && expandedRowIndex != -1) return nil; [tableView beginUpdates]; if (expandedRowIndex != -1) { familyTableView.frame = CGRectMake(familyTableView.frame.origin.x, familyTableView.frame.origin.y, familyTableView.frame.size.width, 3*50+22); toolsTableView.frame = CGRectMake(toolsTableView.frame.origin.x, familyTableView.frame.origin.y + familyTableView.frame.size.height + 20, toolsTableView.frame.size.width, 4*50+22); myAccountTableView.frame = CGRectMake(myAccountTableView.frame.origin.x, toolsTableView.frame.origin.y + toolsTableView.frame.size.height + 20, myAccountTableView.frame.size.width, 2*50+22); settingsScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, familyTableView.frame.size.height + toolsTableView.frame.size.height+ myAccountTableView.frame.size.height + 380); settingsScrollView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 0, familyTableView.frame.size.height + toolsTableView.frame.size.height+ myAccountTableView.frame.size.height + 380, 0); NSInteger rowToRemove = expandedRowIndex + 1; preventReopen = row == expandedRowIndex; if (row > expandedRowIndex) row--; expandedRowIndex = -1; [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:rowToRemove inSection:0]] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; }else { familyTableView.frame = CGRectMake(familyTableView.frame.origin.x, familyTableView.frame.origin.y, familyTableView.frame.size.width, (3*50+22) + 100); toolsTableView.frame = CGRectMake(toolsTableView.frame.origin.x, familyTableView.frame.origin.y + familyTableView.frame.size.height + 20, toolsTableView.frame.size.width, 4*50+22); myAccountTableView.frame = CGRectMake(myAccountTableView.frame.origin.x, toolsTableView.frame.origin.y + toolsTableView.frame.size.height + 20, myAccountTableView.frame.size.width, 2*50+22); settingsScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, familyTableView.frame.size.height + toolsTableView.frame.size.height+ myAccountTableView.frame.size.height + 380); settingsScrollView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 0, familyTableView.frame.size.height + toolsTableView.frame.size.height+ myAccountTableView.frame.size.height + 380, 0); } NSInteger rowToAdd = -1; if (!preventReopen) { rowToAdd = row + 1; expandedRowIndex = row; [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:rowToAdd inSection:0]] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } [tableView endUpdates]; return nil; } I am not good at animation. Any help is greatly appreciated. What I need is when we do [tableView beginUpdates] we have to start animating the resize effect to UIScrollView and it should end when [tableView endUpdates] executes. So the Accordion executes flawlessly. Thanks in advance for any help..

  • Strange crashes when using MPMoviePlayerController in iPad and iPad simulator with iOS 4.2.

    - by Dave L
    I'm getting crashes when trying to play a movie using MPMoviePlayerController on the iPad and in the iPad simulator using iOS 4.2. I am building using xcode 3.2.5 and the 4.2 SDK. When running on an iPad using iOS 3.2 or in the iPad simulator 3.2, the same code works fine, but on an iPad running 4.2 or in the iPad simulator 4.2, it crashes. The crash is due to an exception for calling an unknown selector down somewhere deep in the cocoa libraries, something tries to call a selector called "setHitRectInsets:" on a UIButton object. Also, the crash happens after control has returned to the main event loop. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this? Here is the code (roughly, some extraneous stuff deleted that doesn't seem to have any effect) that is crashing: NSString *fullMovieFilename = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"movie" ofType:@"m4v"]; NSURL *movieURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:fullMovieFilename]; moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL]; moviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone; // crash happens regardless of the setting here [moviePlayer.view setFrame:self.view.bounds]; [self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view]; [moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES animated:YES]; // crash happens whether i use fullscreen or not [moviePlayer play]; The same code also works just find if I build using Xcode 3.2.3 and the 4.0 SDK. The crash stack trace looks like this: 2011-03-04 23:08:22.017 MyApp[31610:207] -[UIButton setHitRectInsets:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x990bc60 2011-03-04 23:08:22.020 MyApp[31610:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[UIButton setHitRectInsets:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x990bc60' *** Call stack at first throw: ( 0 CoreFoundation 0x0151abe9 __exceptionPreprocess + 185 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x0166f5c2 objc_exception_throw + 47 2 CoreFoundation 0x0151c6fb -[NSObject(NSObject) doesNotRecognizeSelector:] + 187 3 CoreFoundation 0x0148c366 ___forwarding___ + 966 4 CoreFoundation 0x0148bf22 _CF_forwarding_prep_0 + 50 5 MediaPlayer 0x011b5bdb -[MPTransportControls createButtonForPart:] + 380 6 MediaPlayer 0x011b65d5 -[MPTransportControls _updateAdditions:removals:forPart:] + 110 7 MediaPlayer 0x011b4d78 -[MPTransportControls _reloadViewWithAnimation:] + 299 8 MediaPlayer 0x011b621a -[MPTransportControls setVisibleParts:] + 49 9 MediaPlayer 0x011b6e4a -[MPTransportControls initWithFrame:] + 173 10 MediaPlayer 0x011f9188 -[MPInlineTransportControls initWithFrame:] + 78 11 MediaPlayer 0x011f193a -[MPInlineVideoOverlay layoutSubviews] + 158 12 QuartzCore 0x00d6e451 -[CALayer layoutSublayers] + 181 13 QuartzCore 0x00d6e17c CALayerLayoutIfNeeded + 220 14 QuartzCore 0x00d6e088 -[CALayer layoutIfNeeded] + 111 15 MediaPlayer 0x011f130c -[MPInlineVideoOverlay setAllowsWirelessPlayback:] + 46 16 MediaPlayer 0x011f5b0d -[MPInlineVideoViewController _overlayView] + 526 17 MediaPlayer 0x011f6359 -[MPInlineVideoViewController _layoutForItemTypeAvailable] + 1350 18 Foundation 0x000e56c1 _nsnote_callback + 145 19 CoreFoundation 0x014f2f99 __CFXNotificationPost_old + 745 20 CoreFoundation 0x0147233a _CFXNotificationPostNotification + 186 21 Foundation 0x000db266 -[NSNotificationCenter postNotificationName:object:userInfo:] + 134 22 Foundation 0x000e75a9 -[NSNotificationCenter postNotificationName:object:] + 56 23 MediaPlayer 0x01184dd6 -[MPAVItem _updateForNaturalSizeChange] + 278 24 MediaPlayer 0x011818e4 __-[MPAVItem blockForDirectAVControllerNotificationReferencingItem:]_block_invoke_1 + 82 25 MediaPlayer 0x011899ba -[MPAVController _postMPAVControllerSizeDidChangeNotificationWithItem:] + 138 26 Foundation 0x000e56c1 _nsnote_callback + 145 27 CoreFoundation 0x014f2f99 __CFXNotificationPost_old + 745 28 CoreFoundation 0x0147233a _CFXNotificationPostNotification + 186 29 Foundation 0x000db266 -[NSNotificationCenter postNotificationName:object:userInfo:] + 134 30 Celestial 0x052a35b2 -[NSObject(NSObject_AVShared) postNotificationWithDescription:] + 176 31 Celestial 0x052ab214 -[AVController fpItemNotification:sender:] + 735 32 Celestial 0x052b5305 -[AVPlaybackItem fpItemNotificationInfo:] + 640 33 Celestial 0x052a3d5c -[AVObjectRegistry safeInvokeWithDescription:] + 211 34 Foundation 0x000fa9a6 __NSThreadPerformPerform + 251 35 CoreFoundation 0x014fc01f __CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE0_PERFORM_FUNCTION__ + 15 36 CoreFoundation 0x0145a28b __CFRunLoopDoSources0 + 571 37 CoreFoundation 0x01459786 __CFRunLoopRun + 470 38 CoreFoundation 0x01459240 CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 208 39 CoreFoundation 0x01459161 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 97 40 GraphicsServices 0x01e4f268 GSEventRunModal + 217 41 GraphicsServices 0x01e4f32d GSEventRun + 115 42 UIKit 0x0038a42e UIApplicationMain + 1160 43 MyApp 0x0000837a main + 102 44 MpApp 0x00002009 start + 53 ) terminate called after throwing an instance of 'NSException' Been fighting with this for several days, and have searched the internet quite a bit for anybody having similar problems, all with no luck.   • Asyncronus javascript rendering widgets

    - by Joe J
    Hey all, I'm creating a javascript widget so third partys (web designers) can post a link on their website and it will render the widget on their site. Currently, I'm doing this with just a script link tag: <div class="some_random_div_in_html_body"> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://remotehost.com/link/to/widget.js'></script> </div> However, this has the side-effect of slowing down a thrid party's website render times of the page if my site is under a load. Therefore, I'd like the third party website to request the widget link from my site asyncronously and then render it on their site when the widget link loads completely. The Google Analytics javascript snippet seems to have a nice bit of asyncronous code that does a nice async request to model off of, but I'm wondering if I can modify it so that it will render content on the third party's site. Using the example below, I want the content of http://mysite.com/link/to/widget.js to render something in the "message" id field. <HTML> <HEAD><TITLE>Third Party Site</TITLE><STYLE>#message { background-color: #eee; } </STYLE></HEAD> <BODY> <div id="message">asdf</div> <script type="text/javascript"> (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = 'http://mysite.com/link/to/widget.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); </script> </BODY> </HTML> I don't know if what I'm trying to do constitutes Cross Site Scripting (still a bit vague on that concept) but am wondering if what I'm trying to do is possible. Or if anyone has any other approaches to creating javascript widgets effectively, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading this. Joe

  • Android - Getting audio to play through earpiece

    - by Donal Rafferty
    I currently have code that reads a recording in from the devices mic using the AudioRecord class and then playing it back out using the AudioTrack class. My problem is that when I play it out it plays vis the speaker phone. I want it to play out via the ear piece on the device. Here is my code: public class LoopProg extends Activity { boolean isRecording; //currently not used AudioManager am; int count = 0; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); am = (AudioManager) getSystemService(Context.AUDIO_SERVICE); am.setMicrophoneMute(true); while(count <= 1000000){ Record record = new Record(); record.run(); count ++; Log.d("COUNT", "Count is : " + count); } } public class Record extends Thread { static final int bufferSize = 200000; final short[] buffer = new short[bufferSize]; short[] readBuffer = new short[bufferSize]; public void run() { isRecording = true; android.os.Process.setThreadPriority (android.os.Process.THREAD_PRIORITY_URGENT_AUDIO); int buffersize = AudioRecord.getMinBufferSize(11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT); AudioRecord arec = new AudioRecord(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC, 11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, buffersize); AudioTrack atrack = new AudioTrack(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, buffersize, AudioTrack.MODE_STREAM); am.setRouting(AudioManager.MODE_NORMAL,1, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); int ok = am.getRouting(AudioManager.ROUTE_EARPIECE); Log.d("ROUTING", "getRouting = " + ok); setVolumeControlStream(AudioManager.STREAM_VOICE_CALL); //am.setSpeakerphoneOn(true); Log.d("SPEAKERPHONE", "Is speakerphone on? : " + am.isSpeakerphoneOn()); am.setSpeakerphoneOn(false); Log.d("SPEAKERPHONE", "Is speakerphone on? : " + am.isSpeakerphoneOn()); atrack.setPlaybackRate(11025); byte[] buffer = new byte[buffersize]; arec.startRecording(); atrack.play(); while(isRecording) { arec.read(buffer, 0, buffersize); atrack.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length); } arec.stop(); atrack.stop(); isRecording = false; } } } As you can see if the code I have tried using the AudioManager class and its methods including the deprecated setRouting method and nothing works, the setSpeatPoneOn method seems to have no effect at all, neither does the routing method. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get it to play via the earpiece instead of the spaker phone?

  • UITableViewCell rounded corners and clip subviews

    - by Brenden
    I can't find anything anywhere(search engines, docs, here, etc) that shows how to create rounded corners (esp. in a grouped table view) on an element that also clips the subviews. I have code that properly creates a rounded rectangle out of a path with 4 arcs(the rounded corners) that has been tested in the drawRect: method in my subclassed uitableviewcell. The issue is that the subviews, which happen to be uibuttons with their internal uiimageviews, do no obey the CGContextClip() that the uitableviewcell obeys. Here is the code: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGFloat radius = 12; CGFloat width = CGRectGetWidth(rect); CGFloat height = CGRectGetHeight(rect); // Make sure corner radius isn't larger than half the shorter side if (radius > width/2.0) radius = width/2.0; if (radius > height/2.0) radius = height/2.0; CGFloat minx = CGRectGetMinX(rect) + 10; CGFloat midx = CGRectGetMidX(rect); CGFloat maxx = CGRectGetMaxX(rect) - 10; CGFloat miny = CGRectGetMinY(rect); CGFloat midy = CGRectGetMidY(rect); CGFloat maxy = CGRectGetMaxY(rect); [[UIColor greenColor] set]; CGContextBeginPath(context); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, minx, midy); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, minx, miny, midx, miny, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, maxx, miny, maxx, midy, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, maxx, maxy, midx, maxy, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, minx, maxy, minx, midy, radius); CGContextClip(context); CGContextFillRect(context, rect); [super drawRect:rect]; } Because this specific case is static(only shows in 1 specific row of buttons), I can edit the images being used for the buttons to get the desired effect. HOWEVER, I have another case that is dynamic. Specifically, a grouped table with lots of database-driven results that will show photos that may be in the first or last row with rounded corners and thus needs to be clipped). So, is it possible to create a CGContextClip() that also clips the subviews? If so, how?

  • Handling Errors from HttpWebRequest.GetResponse

    - by Jason
    Hey experts - I'm having a ridiculous time trying to get an SMS API working (ZeepMobile, if you're interested) with .NET... I've been around .NET for a few years, but with all this social networking and API stuff, I need to get into the HttpWebRequest a bit. I'm new at it, but not completely new; I was able to hook up my site to Twitter without too much fuss (ie, I was able to modify someone's code to work for me). Anyways, the way their API works is to send an SMS message, you send them a POST and they respond back to you. I can send it just fine, but every time I do, rather than echo back something helpful to figure out what the error is, I get the Yellow Error Page Of Death (YEPOD) saying something to the effect of "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request." This occurs on my line: '...creation of httpwebrequest here...' Dim myWebResponse As WebResponse myWebResponse = request.GetResponse() '<--- error line Is there any way to simply receive the error from the server rather than have the webserver throw an exception and give me the YEPOD? Or better yet, can anyone post a working example of their Zeep code? :) Thanks! EDIT: Here's my whole code block: Public Shared Function SendTextMessage(ByVal username As String, _ ByVal txt As String) As String Dim content As String = "user_id=" + _ username + "&body=" + Current.Server.UrlEncode(txt) Dim httpDate As String = DateTime.Now.ToString("r") Dim canonicalString As String = API_KEY & httpDate & content Dim encoding As New System.Text.UTF8Encoding Dim hmacSha As New HMACSHA1(encoding.GetBytes(SECRET_ACCESS_KEY)) Dim hash() As Byte = hmacSha.ComputeHash(encoding.GetBytes(canonicalString)) Dim b64 As String = Convert.ToBase64String(hash) 'connect with zeep' Dim request As HttpWebRequest = CType(WebRequest.Create(_ "https://api.zeepmobile.com/messaging/2008-07-14/send_message"), HttpWebRequest) request.Method = "POST" request.ServicePoint.Expect100Continue = False ' set the authorization levels' request.Headers.Add("Authorization", "Zeep " & API_KEY & ":" & b64) request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" request.ContentLength = content.Length ' set up and write to stream' Dim reqStream As New StreamWriter(request.GetRequestStream()) reqStream.Write(content) reqStream.Close() Dim msg As String = "" msg = reqStream.ToString Dim myWebResponse As WebResponse Dim myResponseStream As Stream Dim myStreamReader As StreamReader myWebResponse = request.GetResponse() myResponseStream = myWebResponse.GetResponseStream() myStreamReader = New StreamReader(myResponseStream) msg = myStreamReader.ReadToEnd() myStreamReader.Close() myResponseStream.Close() ' Close the WebResponse' myWebResponse.Close() Return msg End Function

  • C++ visibility of privately inherited typedefs to nested classes

    - by beldaz
    First time on StackOverflow, so please be tolerant. In the following example (apologies for the length) I have tried to isolate some unexpected behaviour I've encountered when using nested classes within a class that privately inherits from another. I've often seen statements to the effect that there is nothing special about a nested class compared to an unnested class, but in this example one can see that a nested class (at least according to GCC 4.4) can see the public typedefs of a class that is privately inherited by the closing class. I appreciate that typdefs are not the same as member data, but I found this behaviour surprising, and I imagine many others would, too. So my question is threefold: Is this standard behaviour? (a decent explanation of why would be very helpful) Can one expect it to work on most modern compilers (i.e., how portable is it)? #include <iostream> class Base { typedef int priv_t; priv_t priv; public: typedef int pub_t; pub_t pub; Base() : priv(0), pub(1) {} }; class PubDerived : public Base { public: // Not allowed since Base::priv is private // void foo() {std::cout << priv << "\n";} class Nested { // Not allowed since Nested has no access to PubDerived member data // void foo() {std::cout << pub << "\n";} // Not allowed since typedef Base::priv_t is private // void bar() {priv_t x=0; std::cout << x << "\n";} }; }; class PrivDerived : private Base { public: // Allowed since Base::pub is public void foo() {std::cout << pub << "\n";} class Nested { public: // Works (gcc 4.4 - see below) void fred() {pub_t x=0; std::cout << x << "\n";} }; }; int main() { // Not allowed since typedef Base::priv_t private // std::cout << PubDerived::priv_t(0) << "\n"; // Allowed since typedef Base::pub_t is inaccessible std::cout << PubDerived::pub_t(0) << "\n"; // Prints 0 // Not allowed since typedef Base::pub_t is inaccessible //std::cout << PrivDerived::pub_t(0) << "\n"; // Works (gcc 4.4) PrivDerived::Nested o; o.fred(); // Prints 0 return 0; }

    oke heres the problem, I have a ContentControl3D object from thriple in that im creating a LibraryStack with images it runs fine, until i run the function where the LibraryStack gets created and filled. when i click on any of the objects inside i get the following error An unspecified error occurred on the render thread. with stacktrace at System.Windows.Media.MediaContext.NotifyPartitionIsZombie(Int32 failureCode) at System.Windows.Media.MediaContext.NotifyChannelMessage() at System.Windows.Interop.HwndTarget.HandleMessage(Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) at System.Windows.Interop.HwndSource.HwndTargetFilterMessage(IntPtr hwnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam, Boolean& handled) at MS.Win32.HwndWrapper.WndProc(IntPtr hwnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam, Boolean& handled) at MS.Win32.HwndSubclass.DispatcherCallbackOperation(Object o) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(Delegate callback, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(Object source, Delegate callback, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter, Delegate catchHandler) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.WrappedInvoke(Delegate callback, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter, Delegate catchHandler) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.InvokeImpl(DispatcherPriority priority, TimeSpan timeout, Delegate method, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority priority, Delegate method, Object arg) at MS.Win32.HwndSubclass.SubclassWndProc(IntPtr hwnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam) at MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.DispatchMessage(MSG& msg) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(DispatcherFrame frame) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrame(DispatcherFrame frame) at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Run() at System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(Object ignore) at System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(Window window) at System.Windows.Application.Run(Window window) at System.Windows.Application.Run() at WelkoMap.App.Main() in F:\MediaGarde\Surface\Development\WelkoMap\WelkoMap\obj\Debug\App.g.cs:line 0 at System.AppDomain._nExecuteAssembly(Assembly assembly, String[] args) at System.AppDomain.ExecuteAssembly(String assemblyFile, Evidence assemblySecurity, String[] args) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssembly() at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() heres the code that adds and creates the LibraryStack and fills it public void ReplaceBackContent(List<Image> images, List<MediaElement> videos) { ContentControl3D control = this.TryFindParent<ContentControl3D>(); if (control == null) { return; } LibraryStack stack = new LibraryStack(); foreach (Image image in images) { if (image.Parent != null) { continue; } LibraryStackItem item = new LibraryStackItem(); item.Content = image; stack.Items.Add(item); } control.BackContent = stack; } Since it has the NotifyPartitionIsZombie error i already installed windows update KB967634 which had absolutely no effect at all

  • how to use SQL wildcard % with Queryset extra>select?

    - by tylias
    I'm trying to add weights to search terms I'm using to filter a queryset. Using the '%' wildcard is causing me some problems. I'm using the extra() modifier to add a weight parameter to the queryset, which I will be using to inform a sort ordering. (See http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.1/ref/models/querysets/#extra-select-none-where-none-params-none-tables-none-order-by-none-select-params-none ) Here's the gist of the code: def viewname(request) ... exact_matchstrings="" exact_matchstrings.append("(accountprofile.first_name LIKE '" + term + "')") exact_matchstrings.append("(accountprofile.first_name LIKE '" + term + '\%' + "')") extraquerystring = " + ".join(exact_matchstrings) return_queryset = return_queryset.extra( select = { 'match_weight': extraquerystring }, ) The effect I'm going for is that if the search term matches exactly, the weight associated with the record is 2, but if the term merely starts with the search term and isn't an exact match, the weight is 1. (for example, if 'term' = 'Jon', an entry with first_name='Jon' gets a weight of 2 but an entry with an entry with first_name = 'Jonathan' gets a weight of 1.) I can test the statement in SQL and it seems to work well enough. If I make this SQL query from the mysql shell, no problem: select (first_name like "Carl") + (first_name like "Car%") from accountprofile; But trying to run it via the extra() modifier in my view code and evaluating the resulting queryset gives me the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 68, in __repr__ data = list(self[:REPR_OUTPUT_SIZE + 1]) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 83, in __len__ self._result_cache.extend(list(self._iter)) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 238, in iterator for row in self.query.results_iter(): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/sql/query.py", line 287, in results_iter for rows in self.execute_sql(MULTI): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/sql/query.py", line 2369, in execute_sql cursor.execute(sql, params) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/backends/util.py", line 22, in execute sql = self.db.ops.last_executed_query(self.cursor, sql, params) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/backends/__init__.py", line 217, in last_executed_query return smart_unicode(sql) % u_params ValueError: unsupported format character ''' (0x27) at index 309 I've tried it escaping and not escaping % wildcard but that doesn't solve the problem. Doesn't seem to affect it at all, really. Any ideas?

  • Auto-scaffolding an "index" view in ASP.NET MVC

  • Trouble with OpenLayers Styles.

    - by Jenny
    So, tired of always seeing the bright orange default regular polygons, I'm trying to learn to style OpenLayers. I've had some success with: var layer_style = OpenLayers.Util.extend({},OpenLayers.Feature.Vector.style['default']); layer_style.fillColor = "#000000"; layer_style.strokeColor = "#000000"; polygonLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("PolygonLayer"); polygonLayer.style = layer_style; But sine I am drawing my polygons with DrawFeature, my style only takes effect once I've finished drawing, and seeing it snap from bright orange to grey is sort of disconcerting. So, I learned about temporary styles, and tried: var layer_style = new OpenLayers.Style({"default": {fillColor: "#000000"}, "temporary": {fillColor: "#000000"}}) polygonLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("PolygonLayer"); polygonLayer.style = layer_style; This got me a still orange square--until I stopped drawing, when it snapped into completely opaque black. I figured maybe I had to explicitly set the fillOpacity...no dice. Even when I changed both fill colors to be pink and blue, respectively, I still saw only orange and opaque black. I've tried messing with StyleMaps, since I read that if you only add one style to a style map, it uses the default one for everything, including the temporary style. var layer_style = OpenLayers.Util.extend({}, OpenLayers.Feature.Vector.style['default']); var style_map = new OpenLayers.StyleMap(layer_style); polygonLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("PolygonLayer"); polygonLayer.style = style_map; That got me the black opaque square, too. (Even though that layer style works when not given to a map). Passing the map to the layer itself like so: polygonLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("PolygonLayer", style_map); Didn't get me anything at all. Orange all the way, even after drawn. polygonLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("PolygonLayer", {styleMap: style_map}); Is a lot more succesful: Orange while drawing, translucent black with black outline when drawn. Just like when I didn't use a map. Problem is, still no temporary... So, I tried initializing my map this way: var style_map = new OpenLayers.StyleMap({"default": layer_style, "temporary": layer_style}); No opaque square, but no dice for the temporary, either... Still orange snapping to black transparent. Even if I make a new Style (layer_style2), and set temporary to that, still no luck. And no luck with setting "select" style, either. What am I doing wrong? Temporary IS for styling things that are currently being sketched, correct? Is there some other way specific to the drawFeature Controller? Edit: setting extendDefault to be true doesn't seem to help, either... var style_map = new OpenLayers.StyleMap({"default": layer_style, "temporary": layer_style}, {"extendDefault": "true"});

  • DataTrigger only works on first TabItem in TabControl

    - by JustusJonas
    Hi! It seems like a bug in WPF, but maybe someone has an answers to this. I have a DataTrigger for an editable ComboBox. It works on the first TabItem of my TabControl, but not on the second. If you switch the first with the second TabItem, the "second" will work. The same effect happens when you give the style exactly to the ComboBox (ComboBox.Stye ...). <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="640" Height="480"> <Window.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ComboBox}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="25" /> <Setter Property="Width" Value="125" /> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ElementName=PART_EditableTextBox, Path=IsFocused}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="BitmapEffect"> <Setter.Value> <OuterGlowBitmapEffect GlowColor="Red" GlowSize="5" /> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </Window.Resources> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <TabControl> <TabItem Header="TabItem1"> <Grid> <ComboBox IsEditable="True"/> </Grid> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem2"> <Grid> <ComboBox IsEditable="True"/> </Grid> </TabItem> </TabControl> </Grid>

  • DataTable identity column not set after DataAdapter.Update/Refresh on table with "instead of"-trigge

    - by Arno
    Within our unit tests we use plain ADO.NET (DataTable, DataAdapter) for preparing the database resp. checking the results, while the tested components themselves run under NHibernate 2.1. .NET version is 3.5, SqlServer version is 2005. The database tables have identity columns as primary keys. Some tables apply instead-of-insert/update triggers (this is due to backward compatibility, nothing I can change). The triggers generally work like this: create trigger dbo.emp_insert on dbo.emp instead of insert as begin set nocount on insert into emp ... select @@identity end The insert statement issued by the ADO.NET DataAdapter (generated on-the-fly by a thin ADO.NET wrapper) tries to retrieve the identity value back into the DataRow: exec sp_executesql N' insert into emp (...) values (...); select id, ... from emp where id = @@identity ' But the DataRow's id-Column is still 0. When I remove the trigger temporarily, it works fine - the id-Column then holds the identity value set by the database. NHibernate on the other hand uses this kind of insert statement: exec sp_executesql N' insert into emp (...) values (...); select scope_identity() ' This works, the NHibernate POCO has its id property correctly set right after flushing. Which seems a little bit counter-intuitive to me, as I expected the trigger to run in a different scope, hence @@identity should be a better fit than scope_identity(). So I thought no problem, I will apply scope_identity() instead of @@identity under ADO.NET as well. But this has no effect, the DataRow value is still not updated accordingly. And now for the best part: When I copy and paste those two statements from SqlServer profiler into a Management Studio query (that is including "exec sp_executesql"), and run them there, the results seem to be inverse! There the ADO.NET version works, and the NHibernate version doesn't (select scope_identity() returns null). I tried several times to verify, but to no avail. Of course this just shows the resultset coming from the database, whatever happens inside NHibernate and ADO.NET is another topic. Also, several session properties defined by T-SQL SET are different in the two scenarios (Management Studio query vs. application at runtime) This is a real puzzle to me. I would be happy about any insights on that. Thank you!

  • TVirtualStringTree - resetting non-visual nodes and memory consumption

    - by Remy Lebeau - TeamB
    I have an app that loads records from a binary log file and displays them in a virtual TListView. There are potentially millions of records in a file, and the display can be filtered by the user, so I do not load all of the records in memory at one time, and the ListView item indexes are not a 1-to-1 relation with the file record offsets (List item 1 may be file record 100, for instance). I use the ListView's OnDataHint event to load records for just the items the ListView is actually interested in. As the user scrolls around, the range specified by OnDataHint changes, allowing me to free records that are not in the new range, and allocate new records as needed. This works fine, speed is tolerable, and the memory footprint is very low. I am currently evaluating TVirtualStringTree as a replacement for the TListView, mainly because I want to add the ability to expand/collapse records that span multiple lines (I can fudge it with the TListView by incrementing/decrementing the item count dynamically, but this is not as straight forward as using a real tree). For the most part, I have been able to port the TListView logic and have everything work as I need. I notice that TVirtualStringTree's virtual paradigm is vastly different, though. It does not have the same kind of OnDataHint functionality that TListView does (I can use the OnScroll event to fake it, which allows my memory buffer logic to continue working), and I can use the OnInitializeNode event to associate nodes with records that are allocated. However, once a tree node is initialized, it sees that it remains initialized for the lifetime of the tree. That is not good for me. As the user scrolls around and I remove records from memory, I need to reset those non-visual nodes without removing them from the tree completely, or losing their expand/collapse states. When the user scrolls them back into view, I can re-allocate the records and re-initialize the nodes. Basically, I want to make TVirtualStringTree act as much like TListView as possible, as far as its virtualization is concerned. I have seen that TVirtualStringTree has a ResetNode() method, but I encounter various errors whenever I try to use it. I must be using it wrong. I also thought of just storing a data pointer inside each node to my record buffers, and I allocate and free memory, update those pointers accordingly. The end effect does not work so well, either. Worse, my largest test log file has ~5 million records in it. If I initialize the TVirtualStringTree with that many nodes at one time (when the log display is unfiltered), the tree's internal overhead for its nodes takes up a whopping 260MB of memory (without any records being allocated yet). Whereas with the TListView, loading the same log file and all the memory logic behind it, I can get away with using just a few MBs. Any ideas?

  • Can't interact with children of an itemRenderer in Flex 4 Gumbo

    - by BlueDude
    I thought this would be pretty easy but I'm running into all sorts of problems with this. I have an ItemRenderer with a an image and two labels. I want to assign separate mouse events to the image and two labels. It seems like the item renderer is treated like a single interactive piece and I haven't found a way to override that. I couldn't even disable the default rollover effect so I had to style the rollOverColor to match my background. Can anyone provide a solution? <s:DataGroup id="browserDataGroup" dataProvider="{model.userBoardList}" verticalCenter="0" left="10" rollOverColor="0x424242" itemRenderer="edu.xxxxx.components.board.BrowserItemRenderer"> <!--itemrenderer code below --> <s:ItemRenderer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo" xmlns:ns="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" buttonMode="true" useHandCursor="true" mouseChildren="true"> <s:states> <s:State name="up"/> <s:State name="over"/> </s:states> <s:layout> <s:VerticalLayout gap="2"/> </s:layout> <s:Group> <ns:Image id="image" source="{data.thumbnail}" addedEffect="Fade" completeEffect="Fade" removedEffect="Fade" width="130" height="89" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0"/> <s:Rect id="imageRect" width="130" height="89"> <s:stroke> <s:SolidColorStroke color="0xFFFFFF" joints="miter" pixelHinting="true"/> </s:stroke> </s:Rect> </s:Group> <s:Label text="{data.title}" color="0xFFFFFF" fontWeight="bold"/> <s:Group> <s:layout> <s:HorizontalLayout gap="3"/> </s:layout> <s:Label text="Edit" color="0xFFFFFF" click="trace('edit');" textDecoration.up="underline" textDecoration.over="none"/> <s:Label text="|" color="0xFFFFFF"/> <s:Label text="Delete" color="0xFFFFFF" click="trace('delete');" textDecoration.up="underline" textDecoration.over="none"/> </s:Group> </s:ItemRenderer>

  • CSS sliding doors technique for buttons, IE8 problem

    - by Kelvin
    Hello All! I used sliding doors technique, explained here: http://www.oscaralexander.com/tutorials/how-to-make-sexy-buttons-with-css.html With only one exception, that I decided to add one more image for "hover" effect. My code works well for all browsers, except IE8 (and maybe earlier versions). a.submit-button:active and a.submit-button:active span are simply blocked by "hover" and never work. Does anyone knows solution for this? Thanks a lot in advance! <style type="text/css"> .clear { /* generic container (i.e. div) for floating buttons */ overflow: hidden; width: 100%; } a.submit-button { background: transparent url('images/button-1b.png') no-repeat scroll top right; color: #fff; display: block; float: left; font: bold 13px sans-serif, arial; height: 28px; margin-right: 6px; padding-right: 18px; /* sliding doors padding */ text-decoration: none; outline: none; } a.submit-button span { background: transparent url('images/button-1a.png') no-repeat; display: block; line-height: 14px; padding: 6px 0 8px 24px; } a.submit-button:hover { background-position: right -28px; outline: none; /* hide dotted outline in Firefox */ color: #fff; } a.submit-button:hover span { background-position: 0px -28px; } a.submit-button:active { background-position: right -56px; color: #e5e5e5; outline: none; } a.submit-button:active span { background-position: 0px -56px; padding: 7px 0 7px 24px; /* push text down 1px */ } </style> And this is the button: <div class="clear"> <a class="submit-button" href="#" onclick="this.blur();"><span>Hello All</span></a> </div>

  • UITableViewCells appear behind backgroundView

    - by Khanzor
    I am having a problem setting the background of UITableView to a UIImageView (see below for why I am doing this), once the view is set, it works fine, and scrolls with the UITableView, but it hides the elements of the Table View. I need to have a UIImageView as the background for a UITableView. I know this has been answered before, but the answers are to use: [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; Or something like (which I need to use): UIImageView *background = [MainWindow generateBackgroundWithFrame:tableView.bounds]; [tableView addSubview:background]; [tableView sendSubviewToBack:background]; The reason I need to use the latter is because of my generateBackgroundWithFrame method, which takes a large image, and draws a border around that image to the dimensions specified, and clips the remainder of the image: + (UIImageView *) generateBackgroundWithFrame: (CGRect)frame { UIImageView *background = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; background.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"globalBackground.png"]; [background.layer setMasksToBounds:YES]; [background.layer setCornerRadius:10.0]; [background.layer setBorderColor:[[UIColor grayColor] CGColor]]; [background.layer setBorderWidth:3.0]; return background; } Please note: I understand that this might poorly effect performance, but I don't have the resources to go through and make those images for each potential screen in the app. Please do not answer this question with a mindless "you shouldn't do this" response. I am aware that it is possibly the wrong thing to do. How do I show my UITableView control elements? Is there something that I am doing wrong in my delegate? Here is a simplified version: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20, 20, 261, 45) reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton; UIImage *rowBackground; NSString *imageName = @"standAloneTVButton.png"; rowBackground = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName]; UITextView *textView = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 5, 300, 200)]; textView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; textView.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; textView.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:18.0f]; Purchase *purchase = [[PurchaseModel productsPurchased] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; textView.text = [purchase Title]; selectedTextView.text = textView.text; UIImageView *normalBackground = [[[UIImageView alloc] init] autorelease]; normalBackground.image = rowBackground; [normalBackground insertSubview:textView atIndex:0]; cell.backgroundView = normalBackground; [textView release]; } return cell; }

If anyone knows how i could also "slide" them down (kinda like an effect of jQuery) then that would also be, well awesome to know! :o) Any help/suggestions would be great! :o) David

  • How to show / hide all tags with the same class with Java Script?

    - by Roger
    I need a javascrit function that shows/hides all span tags with a specific class (t1, t2 or t3) in a HTML document. Example: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function sh(t){//show_hide(text number class) //??? } //--> </script> <div id='C'> <p> <span class="P"> Normal allways visible text. <span class="t1">Text 1</span> <span class="t2">Text 2</span> <span class="t3">Text 3</span> Normal allways visible text. <span> </p> <p> <span class="P"> Normal allways visible text. <span class="t1">Text 1</span> <span class="t2">Text 2</span> <span class="t3">Text 3</span> Normal (allways visible text. <span> </p> <p><span>Normal allways visible text.</span></p> </div> The function sh (show hide) could be trigerred like this: <p>Show: <a href="#" onclick="sh('t1');">text 1</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sh(t2);">text 2</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sh(t3);">text 3</a></p> An important detail is that when the span class t1 is visible, all other span class t2 and t3 are hidden. The default is to have all span class t1 visible at the first load. Till now, the only solution I found was this one (a bit too complicated though). Thanks a lot. I created a class to launch the MailComposer so that my iPhone app would only have one place to go when generating various kinds of e-mail: some with attachments, some not. Some with pre-filled addresses, some not. I didn't want my class implement UIViewController, but it has to so it can be the delegate for the MailComposer. Otherwise, the view controllers that call my class would themselves have to be delegates for the MailComposer, which defeats the purpose. The downside of having my class be a view controller is that it has to load to the screen before it can modally bring up the MailComposer. Unfortunately, view controllers can't be transparent. The effect is, whatever is on screen gets covered by a solid white view controller for a moment before the MailComposer appears. I could maybe live with that, but not this: after the MailComposer goes away, I'm left with my blank view controller occupying the screen. I ought to be able to get rid of it from within itself by calling this: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:NO]; But that dies a horrible death: "Loading 43365 stack frames..." Has my class -- a UIViewController that pre-fills and then launches a MailComposer -- lost track of its parentViewController? It isn't nil, because I've tested for that. As launched from within the current view controller... // My class is called Email. Email *oEmail = [[[Email alloc] init] retain]; // Red, to remind myself that I'd like to someday learn to make it transparent. oEmail.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor]; // Pre-fill whatever fields you want, and specify attachments. oEmail.EmailSubject = @"I am truly stumped"; // This has to go on screen first. [self presentModalViewController:oEmail animated:NO]; // Then this can happen, which brings up the MailComposer. [oEmail f_SendEmail]; // Commenting out the next line didn't help, so I turned it back on. [oEmail release]; Inside the class, you need the mailComposeController:didFinishWithResult:error: method to make the MailComposer go away, and for that to happen, the class has to be the MFMailComposeViewControllerDelegate. Here's what happens in there: // This gets rid of the mail composer. [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; // This never fails to get rid of other modal view controllers when called // from within those controllers, but boy does it not work here. [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:NO]; If you can help me, I will be truly thankful!

  • Efficiency of Java "Double Brace Initialization"?

    - by Jim Ferrans
    In Hidden Features of Java the top answer mentions Double Brace Initialization, with a very enticing syntax: Set<String> flavors = new HashSet<String>() {{ add("vanilla"); add("strawberry"); add("chocolate"); add("butter pecan"); }}; This idiom creates an anonymous inner class with just an instance initializer in it, which "can use any [...] methods in the containing scope". Main question: Is this as inefficient as it sounds? Should its use be limited to one-off initializations? (And of course showing off!) Second question: The new HashSet must be the "this" used in the instance initializer ... can anyone shed light on the mechanism? Third question: Is this idiom too obscure to use in production code? Summary: Very, very nice answers, thanks everyone. On question (3), people felt the syntax should be clear (though I'd recommend an occasional comment, especially if your code will pass on to developers who may not be familiar with it). On question (1), The generated code should run quickly. The extra .class files do cause jar file clutter, and slow program startup slightly (thanks to coobird for measuring that). Thilo pointed out that garbage collection can be affected, and the memory cost for the extra loaded classes may be a factor in some cases. Question (2) turned out to be most interesting to me. If I understand the answers, what's happening in DBI is that the anonymous inner class extends the class of the object being constructed by the new operator, and hence has a "this" value referencing the instance being constructed. Very neat. Overall, DBI strikes me as something of an intellectual curiousity. Coobird and others point out you can achieve the same effect with Arrays.asList, varargs methods, Google Collections, and the proposed Java 7 Collection literals. Newer JVM languages like Scala, JRuby, and Groovy also offer concise notations for list construction, and interoperate well with Java. Given that DBI clutters up the classpath, slows down class loading a bit, and makes the code a tad more obscure, I'd probably shy away from it. However, I plan to spring this on a friend who's just gotten his SCJP and loves good natured jousts about Java semantics! ;-) Thanks everyone!
