  Although , Microsoft officially not going support Windows XP  but still many healthcare companies preferred to use windows XP internally. They buy windows 7 laptop and convert to Windows XP.This sounds funny but it true. I was trying to use IE’s Developer tools(F12) to debug one of JavaScript issue found that “jscript.dll” has to be registered explicitly    to your machine. even if i have IE8 and javsascript enabled on browser it was not stopping on breakpoint. • Creating a level editor event system

  I'm designing a level editor for game, and I'm trying to create sort of an 'event' system so I can chain together things. If anyone has used RPG Maker, I'm trying to do similar to their system. Right now, I have an 'EventTemplate' class and a bunch of sub-classed 'EventNodes' which basically just contain properties of their data. Orginally, the IAction and IExecute interface performed logic but it was moved into a DLL to share between the two projects. Question: How can I abstract logic from data in this case? Is my model wrong? Isn't cast typing expensive to parse these actions all the time? Should I write a 'Processor' class to execute these all? But then these actions that can do all sorts of things need to interact with all sorts of sub-systems.

Create a console app Add reference to Microsoft.SharePoint.dll Hit F5, curse because I forgot to set the framework to .NET 3.5 Right click properties, change framework to .NET 3.5 Hit F5, curse again because I get a FileNotFoundException, because I forgot to make it a x64 app. Finally on my way, 2 minutes later – which has added to atleast 2 hours over the last year.   Well, no more! • Oculus Rift with Antichamber

  Antichamber runs great on linux (steam version). But it is not playable with the Oculus Rift at this point. The issues are: 1) no headtracking 2) graphics are not being split and distorted by Oculus SDK My current plan is to use LD_PRELOAD to add the functionality, this seems to be the linux equivalent of DLL injection. Antichamber appears to be using SDL, I'm hoping this can be configured to use the headtracking data as a joystick and apply the graphics distortion, but I am not sure which functions I should be looking for. Is there a simpler way of getting these issues resolved? Is SDL the right choice here? Would appreciate any information on how the Unreal Engine 3 works under linux; and library injection too.

  In the Java world, it seems to sometimes be a problem, but, what about C++? Are there different solutions? I was thinking about the fact that someone can replace the C++ library of a specific OS with a different version of the same library, but full of debug symbols to understand what my code does. IS tt a good thing to use standard or popular libraries? This can also happen with some dll library under Windows replaced with the "debug version" of that library. Is it better to prefer static compilation? In commercial applications, I see that for the core of their app they compile everything statically and for the most part the dlls (dynamic libraries in general) are used to offer some third party technologies like anti-piracy solutions (I see this in many games), GUI library (like Qt), OS libraries, etc. Is static compilation the equivalent to obfuscation in the Java world? In better terms, is it the best and most affordable solution to protect your code?

The most "clean" answer I've seen is to make a kernel-mode-driver filter from the scratch (TDI for XP and earlier winx9 or NDIS for NT systems). An other way, is to use a user-mode-driver like Windivert, also Komodia has a great solution (without writing any single code). The idea behind this introduction is just I want to know is API Hooking can be considered as alternative of writing of whole of driver-filter? writing a driver from the scratch is not an easy task, why just not Hooking the HttpSendRequest or any other API used by the browser? There are many free/commercial libraries to do this in a safe manner (eg: EasyHook, Mhook, Nektra..). I'm not the first who ask, there already Sockscap that uses Hook(DLL injection) to change behavior to other applications and force them to use a Socks proxy, also Form grabbing attack 'used by keylogger..

  There is an AGPLv3 based software (Client) that makes web service calls (using SOAP) to another software (Server - commercial, cloud based). There is no common code or any connection whatsoever between these two except for the web service calls being made. My questions - Does the Server need to be AGPL too? I guess not - but would like to confirm. Let us say the end point URL for the Server can be configured on the Client side (by editing an XML file) to connect it to different Servers (again, there is no connection other than the webservice calls being made) does it require any of these Servers being AGPL? Are there any issues in running the Client as a DLL that is loaded by other commercial applications on users' desktops? Does it require these other applications also to be AGPL?

  I have an issue with objects moving roughly twice as far as expected when dragging them. I am comparing my application to the standard TouchGestureSample sample from MSDN. For some reason in my application gesture samples have fractional positions and deltas. Both are using same Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Input.Touch.dll, v4.0.30319. I am running both apps using standard Windows Phone Emulator. I am setting my break point immediately after this line of code in a simple Update method: GestureSample gesture = TouchPanel.ReadGesture(); Typical values in my app: Delta = {X:-13.56522 Y:4.166667} Position = {X:184.6956 Y:417.7083} Typical values in sample app: Delta = {X:7 Y:16} Position = {X:497 Y:244} Have anyone seen this issue?   I am trying to make my first app for sale, I would like to ask some questions for those who have already sold their software: Have you used a Framework/Lib whose LGPL License? if yes, what are the impressions of your customers? for example, if your customers/ competitors from the market reveal technology/secrets that you used in your solution (as LGPL requires that you make a Dynamic Link (.DLL) for your libs and you clearly tell the use of a Lib/Framework). Full story: For my project, I used a framework LGPL/commercial (Dual License) the second one it was too expensive (about 3000 USD) which pushed me to use LGPL however I still concerned. That is why I ask for advise and especially motivations.

  First of all, I've tried to install adobe air on ubuntu 13.10 64-bit without any success (yes, I've read the posts here, but none of them have helped (it's always some dependency that says "but it wont be installed"). Then I decided to try running it thru wine. Installed adobe air with no problems. Now the tricky part - how do I run it ? Adobe Air has only exes' to update itself, and the minerva has and .air extension. Ive tried even something like rundll32 Adobe Air.dll (with no success of course).

  I am developing a tool for simulating systems like the Gray-Scott model (That is systems where spatial distribution depends on time). The actual model is loaded from a DLL or shared object and the simulation is performed by a Simulation object. There are at least two situations when the simulation needs to be destroyed: The user loads a new model The user changes the size of the domain To make sure nothing goes wrong, the current Model, Simulation, and rendering Thread are all managed by an ApplicationState object. But the two cases above are initiated from two different UI objects. Is it then ok to distribute a reference to the ApplicationState object to all panels that need to access at least one method on the ApplicationState object? Another solution would be to use aggregation so that the panel from which the user chooses model knows the simulation parameter panel. Also, the ApplicationState class seems somewhat clumsy, so I would like to have something else

• What exactly does an installer do and why might I need one?

  this is probably the noob-question of the day: So I've written this game. Now there's the .exe file that does the work, a folder with my beautiful, beautiful assets and a bunch of .dll files and other stuff that I probably shouldn't touch. To run the game, I copy the whole lot to the desired computer, double-click the .exe file and start shooting some dudes. Yay! But what exactly is the difference between that and using an installer? What else does an installer do besides copying files and looking more professional than a .zip-file? Is there generally a lot of patching/configuring involved when trying to make a game run on a different computer? I tested my game on all windows computers I could get my greedy fingers on and it works great. Thanks for your time.

  I have an large html website on a very old server and I'm attempting to move it to a brand new server running IIS7. I've tried moving the entire site to the WWW directory, but then all my forms return "The HTTP verb POST used to access path is not allowed". Additionally, all the solutions I've found online only work on a page by page basis. Is there a simpler/faster way to migrate a large website containing many forms to IIS7? Here is the specific error message: The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/FormServer/Mig/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/admissions/askseaaggie.htm' is not allowed.

• CreateDXGIFactory Doesn't Let Program Exit

  I'm using CreateDXGIFactory to get the graphics adapters and display modes. When I call it, it works fine and I get all the data. However, when I exit my program, the main Win32 thread exits, but something stays open because it keeps debugging. Does CreateDXGIFactory create an extra thread and I'm not closing it? I don't understand. The only thing I would suspect is that in the documentation it says it doesn't work if it's called from DllMain. It is in a DLL, but it's not called from DllMain. And it doesn't fail, either. I'm using DirectX 11.

• Generic Handler vs Direct Reference

  In a project where I'm working on the data access layer I'm trying to make a decision how to send data and objects to the next layer (and programmer). Is it better to tell him to reference my dll, OR should I build a generic handler and let him take the objects from there (i.e. json format) If I understand correctly, In case of 2. he would have to handle the objects on his own, whereas in case 1. he will have the entities I've built. Note: It is very probable that other people would need to take the same data, though, we're not up to that yet. Same question here - should I make it into a webservice, or have them access the handler?
