  • Javascript to add cdata section on the fly?

    - by Chris G.
I'm having trouble with special characters that exist in an xml node attribute. To combat this, I'm trying to render the attributes as child nodes and, where necessary, using cdata sections to get around the special characters. The problem is, I can't seem to get the cdata section appended to the node correctly. I'm iterating over the source xml node's attributes and creating new nodes. If the attribute.name = "description" I want to put the attribute.text() in a cdata section and append the new node. That's where I jump the track. // newXMLData is the new xml document that I've created in memory for (var ctr =0;ctr< this.attributes.length;ctr++){ // iterate over the attributes if( this.attributes[ctr].name =="Description"){ // if the attribute name is "Description" add a CDATA section var thisNodeName = this.attributes[ctr].name; newXMLDataNode.append("<"+thisNodeName +"></"+ thisNodeName +">" ); var cdata = newXMLData.createCDATASection('test'); // here's where it breaks. } else { // It's not "Description" so just append the new node. newXMLDataNode.append("<"+ this.attributes[ctr].name +">" + $(this.attributes[ctr]).text() + "</"+ this.attributes[ctr].name +">" ); } } Any ideas? Is there another way to add a cdata section? Here's a sample snippet of the source... <row pSiteID="4" pSiteTile="Test Site Name " pSiteURL="http://www.cnn.com" ID="1" Description="<div>blah blah blah since June 2007.&amp;nbsp; T<br>&amp;nbsp;<br>blah blah blah blah&amp;nbsp; </div>" CreatedDate="2010-09-20 14:46:18" Comments="Comments example.&#10;" > here's what I'm trying to create... <Site> <PSITEID>4</PSITEID> <PSITETILE>Test Site Name</PSITETILE> <PSITEURL>http://www.cnn.com</PSITEURL> <ID>1</ID> <DESCRIPTION><![CDATA[<div>blah blah blah since June 2007.&amp;nbsp; T<br>&amp;nbsp;<br>blah blah blah blah&amp;nbsp; </div ]]></DESCRIPTION> <CREATEDDATE>2010-09-20 14:46:18</CREATEDDATE> <COMMENTS><![CDATA[ Comments example.&#10;]]></COMMENTS> </Site>

  • How to do method chaining in Java? o.m1().m2().m3().m4()

    - by Pentium10
Maybe the title might be better, if someone knows a better one, please edit. I've seen in many Java code notation that after a method we call another, here is an example. Toast.makeText(text).setGravity(Gravity.TOP, 0, 0).setView(layout).show(); As you see after calling makeText on the return we call setGravity and so far. How can I do this with my own classes? Do I have to do anything special?

  • Are parametrized calls/sanitization/escaping characters necessary for hashed password fields in SQL queries?

    - by Computerish
When writing a login system for a website, it is standard to use some combination of parameterized calls, sanitizing the user input, and/or escaping special characters to prevent SQL injection attacks. Any good login system, however, should also hash (and possibly salt) every password before it goes into an SQL query, so is it still necessary to worry about SQL injection attacks in passwords? Doesn't a hash completely eliminate any possibility of an SQL injection attack on its own?

  • C++ Newbie Question

    - by JavaMan
I am from a Java background and is learning C++. I encountered the following C++ code: String source = String::New("'Hello' + ', World'"); As what I understand so far, this should be a call to static member function 'New' of class 'String'. But, I've searched through the whole header file defining 'String', there is not any static member named 'New' in the String class or its super classes. Is there any special meaning attached to String class or the New member function in C++?

I have checked and made sure that $sys_root is not a special var of PHP's.

  • How to generate a LONG guid?

    - by Ron
I would like to generate a long UUID - something like the session key used by gmail. It should be at least 256 chars and no more than 512. It can contain all alpha-numeric chars and a few special chars (the ones below the function keys on the keyboard). Has this been done already or is there a sample out there? C++ or C#

  • How to get iPhones current orientation?

    - by Mike Rychev
Is there a special method to get iPhones orientation? I don't need it in degrees or radians, I want it to return an UIInterfaceOrientation object. I just need it for an if-else construction like if(currentOrientation==UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait ||currentOrientation==UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) { //Code } if (currentOrientation==UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight ||currentOrientation==UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft ) { //Code } Thanks in advance!

  • Date type in oracle does not include time values

    - by Matt
I have a PHP application using an Oracle XE database. Whenever I add a date the hours minutes, and seconds seem to get left out. Is there some special format, or type I should use to be able to store this? I have tried using to_date, and specifying the format I am using. Many thanks for any suggestions from this confused MySql dveloper.

  • Most efficient way to animate a path?

    - by mystify
I have a fullscreen path which consists of about 20 lines. Currently I am animating changes in this path using an NSTimer which frequently calls -setNeedsDisplay. Believe me: Performance sucks absolutely. I slightly remember that there was some better way to animate paths on the iPhone. Some kind of special CA layer. I don't remember anymore it's exact name. Who knows?

  • is there any faster way to parse than by walk each byte?

    - by uray
is there any faster way to parse a text than by walk each byte of the text? I wonder if there is any special CPU (x86/x64) instruction for string operation that is used by string library, that somehow used to optimize the parsing routine. for example instruction like finding a token in a string that could be run by hardware instead of looping each byte until a token is found.

  • Building a custom textbox in GTK

    - by CommuSoft
I want to make my own GTK# Textbox, the textbox should draw the text and it's cursor on a special way. However keyboard and mouse-handling is quite complex and is also influenced by for instance the operating system (for instance the use of dead keys) Is there a way to build such a control without having to worry about keyboard input? I assume I have to make a textbox control that inherits the original textbox control. How can I handle drawing requests and mouse movements?

  • Python - How is this snippet working?

    - by orokusaki
For some reason this function confused me: def protocol(port): return port == "443" and "https://" or "http://" Can somebody explain the order of what's happening behind the scenes to make this work the way it does. I understood it as this until I tried it: Either A) def protocol(port): if port == "443": if bool("https://"): return True elif bool("http://"): return True return False Or B) def protocol(port): if port == "443": return True + "https://" else: return True + "http://" Is this some sort of special case in Python, or am I completely misunderstanding how statements work?

  • Looking for a fast hash-function.

    - by Julian
Hello, I'm looking for a special hash-function. Let's say I have a large list of strings, if I order them by their hash-values they should be ordered quasi randomly. The most important point is: it must be super fast. I've tried md5 and sha1 and they're using to much cpu power. Clashes are not a problem. I'm using javascript, so it shouldn't be too complicated to implement.

  • Erlang: What's a good way to automatically assign node names?

    - by mwt
I want to have an EC2 based cluster that can grow and shrink at will. No node will be special in any way nor do I want them to have to coordinate their names with any other nodes. I don't want to hard code the names since I want to use one image and spin them up as needed. I understand nodes have to have names to communicate, though. What's a good strategy for automatically and dynamically coming up with a name at start script time?

  • Preferred Access point name

    - by rantravee
Hi, I'm hoping that someone will explain to me what preferred access point name refers to in the android system , and what is it's role . Also I'd like to know if by messing with all APN (adding a suffix to the "apn" and "type" fields to disable 3G/EDGE/GPRS connections , and the deleting this suffix ) , the preferred APN can be disrupted. Also if it need special settings in case an APN manipulation is desired.
