• Generic RPM package for Python 2.x

  I have a python application, it can run on Python = 2.6 and it's architecture independant. I need the rpm package of this application to be installed on Fedora 14 (python 2.7) and Centos 6.2 (python 2.6). I currently use mock to build one rpm package for each "flavour" and it works well. I apparently can't install the Centos compiled rpm on Fedora. • snort analysis of wireshark capture

  I'm trying to identify trouble users on our network. ntop identifies high traffic and high connection users, but malware doesn't always need high bandwidth to really mess things up. So I am trying to do offline analysis with snort (don't want to burden the router with inline analysis of 20 Mbps traffic). Apparently snort provides a -r option for this purpose, but I can't get the analysis to run. The analysis system is gentoo, amd64, in case that makes any difference. I've already used oinkmaster to download the latest IDS signatures. • Two instances of Windows Vista on boot up after failed clean install

  I tried to install a clean version of Vista but failed. I ended up with Windows and Windows.old on my C: drive and a dual boot option on boot up. I gave up and booted up the old version and tried to rename the Windows.old to Windows and was asked if I wanted to merge the two folders. I answered yes and all seemed OK until I booted up this morning and was given the choice of two versions of Vista. The first one is the one that failed to installed correctly and the second one is the old version. How can I get rid of the failed installation? I got rid of the bad boot via MSCONFIG. Here is my current situation: several hard drives installed Using C: as my boot drive a much larger drive (H:) for storing most of my files. I found a subfolder in my C:\windows folder named windows. Upon inspection I determined it to be older than the C:\windows folder and therefore it must be the older, working version of the boot. I renamed the C:\windows folder to c:\windows.bad and moved the sub windows to the C: root directory. I also copied it to the h: drive. Now MSCONFIG reports that the copy that is booting is the h: copy. How can I change it back to the C:\ copy and can I delete the C:\windows.bad file set?

• Issues with ASP.NET via Apache/mod_mono on Ubuntu.

  I run an Ubuntu test server, and my deployment system is also Ubuntu. I've recently been trying to get ASP.NET to work on my test server so that we can take it live. I managed to get it installed, and configured properly, and my application is installed and running, but I can't get anything to work. The error I keep receiving is below, if anyone has any clue what might be going on, it would be greatly appreciated.   Hi All, I'm willing to install phpunit 5.3 with MAMP 1.9 and there for I need to upgrade PEAR to version 1.9.1. The current version installed is 1.9.0. • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. Should I deinstall the unicenter service and make a fresh installation on the server or should I remove the Windows Server 2003 SP2? • can't properly shutdown ubuntu and sound problem on HP mini 311 netbook

  hi, I recently bought a HP mini 311 netbook. I replaced its harddrive and installed ubuntu 10.04. Since then, I have encountered some very strange problem with its sound and shutdown/reboot. At times, when I start the computer, it will have no sound, on the GUI the sound is at max, but no sound is available. This sometimes also happen after after upgrades, hibernate, and toggling the wireless radio button. Strangely, when the sound is out the device will also refuse to be shutdown. If I shutdown the computer using the GUI, it will simply go back to the log in screen without actually shutting down. If I use "sudo shutdown 0", the computer will hang on the loading screen of the shut down process. I had to force the pc to shutdown by holding the power button down. usually (probably always) after I force a turn-off then start off again. the sound and shutdown become normal. I wonder if anyone have clues regarding to the cause of this problem. This the info about the computer: 1) installed ubuntu 10.04LTS RC, later upgraded to formal released version. 2) cat /proc/asound/version == "Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21." however, when doing 'alsaconf' the version displayed is 1.0.23 any help is appreciated. I have been googling around for a bit and all posts say to decrease heap size and increase stack size but that doesnt seem to help. Anyone have anymore ideas? • Upgrade Nokia Maps from v2 to v3 fails

  I'm trying to install Nokia Maps 3.0 on my Nokia N82, without much success. I believe other similar Nokia phones have the same problem. My phone is connected through USB in "PC Suite" mode, and the latest firmware available for N82 is installed. I currently have Maps 2.0 installed. I'm installing from a Windows XP PC, and tried the update first from within Ovi Suite (latest version) and from Nokia Maps Updater (latest version). In both cases it detects that there is an update available (Maps 3.0), downlowds it and starts the install. On my phone, I then get the following error message: Unable to install. Component is built in. And on the PC I get the error Error Cannot update maps application. The installation failed or was cancelled on the phone (18). I found an entry for Maps in the App. manager and deleted it (and turned phone off and on again afterwards), but this didn't make any difference (and I don't think it changed the version of Maps installed either). This is the release version of Maps 3.0, not the beta. I found the problem mentioned many times on various web sites, but couldn't find a solution anywhere. Has anybody any ideas how to get the upgrade from Maps 2.0 to Maps 3.0 to work?

• Word 2013 can't compare readonly files

  I am using Tortoise SVN to work with a repository that contains some documentation saved as Word documents. On my old computer, with Office 2010, I was able to compare with previous revisions. Tortoise would open Word in compare view so I could see the differences between the files. I have installed Office 2013 (final version from Technet, not the preview version) on my new laptop for testing and now I can no longer compare Word Documents. Tortoise pops up a generic error that it was unable to compare the two files. Tortoise uses a JScript file to interface with Word, so I ran that file through a debugger and found that the actual error is: The Compare method or property is not available because this command is not available for reading. Some Googling followed by some testing revealed that the error is caused by the first file opened (in this case, the previous version) being opened as Read-Only. If I change the JScript code to open in normal mode, and I find the file on the system and un-check the "Read Only" property (if necessary), then the comparison opens as expected. I was unable to find any documentation about this change to Word on any Microsoft site. Does anyone know why this has been changed, and if it is intentional and not a bug, what the benefit is of requiring the file to be writable in order to compare it with another? Note: This is tagged word-2013-preview but it is actually for the release version of Word that is available on MSDN and Technet. I do not have enough rep. on this site to create new tags (yet).

• TFS 2012: Backup Plan Fails with empty log file

  I have a Team Foundation Server 2012 installation with Power Tools, and I defined a backup plan using the wizard found in the "Database Backup Tools" in the Team Foundation Server Administration Console. I set the backup plan to do a full database backup on Sunday mornings, to another server in the network. I followed the wizard with no problems and the Backup Plan was set successfully. • Unable to write DVD-R(Blank DVD's)

  I have a problem in dvd drive i.e. It can read CD/DVD and can write CD and all CD/DVD-RW but cannot write DVD DVD drive model is SH-S203B Samsung; I also have a log file created by nero burning rom 11. Actually the fact is no Blank DVD's are being read in my dvd drive only previously written dvd's can be read! I used YAML.load_file to load the hieradata file, and got a correct hash object. Can anybody help?

If I set the proxy_pass of WEB version to Varnish (port 8282) and restart Nginx I got an error when accessing web version (www.mysite.com) "Too many redirections" . I Think my problem come from the Varnish config file, as the site works well if I setup Nginx proxy_pass to Gunicorn ports (MOBILE & WEB).

• Python not Working in Vim

  I have a new install of VIM from the automatic windows installer: gvim73_46.exe I have Python 2.7 (32 bit) installed. If I open gvim, and type: :set python? I get E518: Unknown option. If I try typing: :python 'hello' Vim crashes. What could be wrong? Here are the contents of :version in case they are helpful, although python is installed, and it is using Python 2.7. I also checked, and C:\Windows\System32\python27.dll is where it should be... I am really lost here. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going wrong? • can't ssh from mac to windows (running ssh server on cygwin)

  I set up an ssh server on a fresh windows 7 machine using the latest version of cygwin. Disabled the firewall. I can ssh into it from itself, from a different windows box (using winssh), and from a linux vm. In spite of that, I tried to ssh in from two different macs, and neither would let me! • How to make Synaptics touchpad work better on Linux?

  I have Debian Squeeze currently installed on a Samsung N250 netbook with a Synaptics touchpad. These touchpads are, generally, good, and everything works perfectly on Windows. The support is extremely sucky on Linux through. Of course it has all the cool features like two-finger scrolling, but the cursor (or whatever is a replacement for cursor when scrolling) is trembling awfully. It trembles when I just keep the finger on touchpad, it shakes awfully if the finger is close to the top of touchpad, and when I'm scrolling with it (no matter with two fingers or one), the page shakes a lot too. None of this behavior is observed even in Windows XP with just the default drivers installed. • Unexpected(?) high 'wasted' memory in memcached

  Looking at our memcached stats I think I have found an issue I was not aware of before. It seems that we have a strangely high amount of wasted space. I checked with phpmemcacheadmin for a change, and found this image staring at me: Now I was under the impression that the worst-case scenario would be that there is 50% waste, although I am the first to admit not knowing all the details. I have read - amongst others- this page which is indeed somewhat old, but so is our version of memcached. I think I do understand how the system works (e.g.) I believe, but I have a hard time understanding how we could get to 76% wasted space. The eviction rate that phpmemcacheadmin shows is 2 ev/s, so there is some problem here. The primary question is: what can I do to fix this. I could throw more memory at it (there is some extra available I think), maybe I should fiddle with the slab config (is that even possible with this version?), maybe there are other options? Upgrading the memcached version is not a quickly available option. The secondairy question, out of curiosity, is of course if the rate of 75% (and rising) wasted space is expected, and if so, why. • How can I password protect an IIS directory with only FTP access?

  How can I password protect an IIS directory when I only have FTP access to the server? I can't adjust any IIS settings or add users or anything like that. The answer to: IIS Basic Authorization ala .htaccess/.htpasswd in apache does not help as I only have access to the server via FTP. I just need to password protect a directory. I've tried several variations of a web.config file. I can get a basic HTTP auth form to pop up when a user attempts to load a page from my test directory, but I can't configure the authentication part. The server complains that: Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. whenever I add an <authentication> section to my web.config. I'm grateful for any help anyone can offer.
