• How do chains work in Rainbow tables?

  Hello, I was wondering if should one could explain in detail how chains work in rainbow tables as though you would a complete novice but with relevance to programming. I understand that a chain is 16 bytes long. 8 bytes mark the starting point and 8 mark the end. I also understand that in the filename we have the chain length i.e. 2400. Which means that between our starting point and end point in just 16 bytes we have 2400 possible clear texts? What? How does that work? in those 16 bytes how do i get my 2400 hashes and clear texts or am i miss understanding this? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks P.s. I have read the related papers and googled this topic a fair bit. I think im just missing something important to make these gears turn.

• problem processing xml in flex3

  Hi All, First time here asking a question and still learning on how to format things better... so sorry about the format as it does not look too well. I have started learning flex and picked up a book and tried to follow the examples in it. However, I got stuck with a problem. I have a jsp page which returns xml which basically have a list of products. I am trying to parse this xml, in other words go through products, and create Objects for each product node and store them in an ArrayCollection. The problem I believe I am having is I am not using the right way of navigating through xml. • Flight paths linking placemarks using Java Api For Kml(JAK)

  Currently i'm having a project which requires to set placemarks and link them with polylines (i suppose), lines which have an arc to it, with properly segmented portions to the arc. I've been able to generate kml file with jak library. But i can't produce more den 1 placemark in the kml file.   I'm reviewing my notes for my course on theory of computation and I'm having trouble understanding how to complete a certain proof. Here is the question: A = {0^n 1^m 0^n | n>=1, m>=1} Prove that A is not regular. It's pretty obvious that the pumping lemma has to be used for this. So, we have |vy| = 1 |vxy| <= p (p being the pumping length, = 1) uv^ixy^iz exists in A for all i = 0 Trying to think of the correct string to choose seems a bit iffy for this. I was thinking 0^p 1^q 0^p, but I don't know if I can obscurely make a q, and since there is no bound on u, this could make things unruly.. So, how would one go about this?

  I am developing iphone application similar to the Talking Larry Application. I am facing an issue of Low Memory when i pre-load the animations into an NSMutable Array. If i do not pre-load the animations and load it into the Animation Images when the user touch the button then it takes Time and it play back the animation very Slow. And during video making it does not play the complete animations. How can i resolve this issue. I want to play back the animations similar to the Talking Larry app and do not want to get Low Memory Issue.

• Classes missing if application runs for a long time

  I have a funny problem - if my application runs for a long time ( 20h), then sometimes I get NoClassDefFound error - seems like JVM decided that the class is not going to be used anyway and GCd it. To be a bit more specific, here's an example case: object ErrorHandler extends PartialFunction[Throwable,Unit] { def isDefinedAt(t: Throwable) = true def apply(e: Throwable) =e match { // ... handle errors } } // somewhere else in the code... try { // ... long running code, can take more than 20 hours to complete } catch (ErrorHandler) And I get the following exception: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/rogach/avalanche/ErrorHandler$ If that try/catch block runs for smaller amounts of time, everything works as expected. If anyone is interested, here is the codebase in question: Avalanche I need to note that I saw this and similar problems only on Cent OS 5 machines, using JRE 6u26 and Scala 2.9.1 / 2.9.2. What could be the cause of this problem?

• GEdit/Python execution plugin?

  Hi I'm just starting out learning python with GEdit plus various plugins as my IDE. Visual Studio/F# has a feature which permits the highlighting on a piece of text in the code window which then, on a keypress, gets executed in the F# console. Is there a similar facility/plugin which would enable this sort of behaviour for GEdit/Python? I do have various execution type plugins (Run In Python,Better Python Console) but they don't give me this particular behaviour - or at least I'm not sure how to configure them to give me this. I find it useful because in learning python, I have some test code I want to execute particular individual lines or small segments of code (rather then a complete file) to try and understand what they are doing (and the copy/paste can get a bit tiresome) ... or perhaps there is a better way to do code exploration? • Winforms panel event after scroll

  Hello I have a panel in wich I do a bounch af rater complex drawing in the paint event. Since the drawing-code is kind of heavy, it gets rather twitchy when I scroll the panel, since the paint event is raised in such short intervals. My question is really this; Can i capture evnts such as "on scroll start" and "on scroll end" on a winforms control? If so, I could then just pause the drawing-code until the scroll is complete. • Progress Dialog in Android doesn't Show?

  Okay.. I am doing something similar to the below: private void onCreate() { final ProgressDialog dialog = ProgressDialog.show(this, "Please wait..", "Doing stuff..", true); Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() { //do some serious stuff... dialog.dismiss(); } }; t.start(); t.join(); stepTwo(); } However, what I am finding is that my progress dialog never even shows up. My App stalls for a moment so I know it is chugging along inside of thread t, but why doesnt my dialog appear? IF I remove the line: t.join(); Then what I find happens is that the progress dialog does show up, but my app starts stepTwo(); before what happens in the thread is complete.. Any ideas?

• MS Word: Mailmerge hyperlinks with query get url string with a mergefield.

  Hi, I'm trying to send an email merging one document (docx) with a contacts database (via OleDB). Using MSWord2007, it seems easy (it works for easy things: name, address, ...) but I can't find how fill an query-get url string with a merge field inside an hyperlink. An hyperlink like: Click here where here is an hyperlink to http://domain.com/[email protected] where [email protected] is the address of the contact, a merge field. I've tried the special/merge fields: {HYPERLINK "http://domain.com/test.php?contact={MERGEFIELD contactEmail}" \o "Here"} but it doesn't work, sometimes it merge only the first record and then send all the mails with the same address, I got this alternating the view with ALT+F9. This support doc doesn't work for me because I don't have the complete URL in my database for each contact, and I can't change the design of the table or add a view (it's from the CRM), I don't like to do it exporting the table and adding the field. • Text rendering blurred in Firefox and Internet Explorer using jQuery

  Not sure what causes this? If I user slideDown in Firefox the text rendering cuts off the top of the letters before the animation is complete. This is ok in IE. If I then change the animation to use fadeIn instead, the blur does not happen in Firefox but the text is very jagged in IE. From another question I have asked in the past pertaining to animation, the guy told me that I should wrap that which I want to animate in another DIV and animate that instead. This sorted out the jerkiness caused by the padding on the content inside the .animateDiv. Is there a trick to the text rendering as well in jQuery

• Struts2 dynamic form elements

  Hi, I would like to create little higer-level framework on top of Stuts2 which can take form element description from Action and render a complete form, in order to avoid having a separate JSP files with hardcoded form elements for every form in a large web application (so if I manage to do this I will have just a few generic JSPs for data form and few for layout). Application is extremely data-driven. My idea is to create form description using custom objects in the Action (i.e. Button, TextInput etc.) and then to create a single JSP page that will render eveything out. What is the best way of doing this? Can you propose some concrete way to do this? I don't want to write something if I can reuse the existing code with some effort. Any ideas are appreciated. • FlexNativeMenu Problem in Air Application

  I am trying to add a flexnativemenu to my air application and I have some problems... When I set it in the windowApplication, I get null errors in child controls so I tried to set this.menu = myMainMenu (which is my flexnativemenu) in the creation complete event but the menu doesn't show up... I tried to show an alert message before setting the menu and the menu appeared in the application. Is there a method I can call to force the application to "redraw" itself in the creationComplete event??? Thanks!

• Trouble with loading jquery onload.

  Hi guys, I'm trying to build some jquery tabs based on the request (which is stored in a table). I have two pages sharing one .js file. One page is for the user to create the request, and the other is for the administrator to approve/deny the request. On the admin page, here is my javascript code: $(function() { GetRequest(); }); Which is just calling a function I have inside my .js file. All the code in the .js file is also wrapped in a '$(function(){ //...code here })'. The problem is the function isn't built yet when calling it from the page. Is there a way I can tell the page to wait until the script is complete?

  In relation to this question, I was wondering if anyone knows a javascript code snippet/library to convert a single doxygen comment to HTML? For example, /** This is a comment block * * \b bold text * \i italic text */ would be converted to something like: <p>This is a comment block</p> <p><b>bold</b> text</p> <p><i>italic</i> text</p> Similar for all the other formatting related tags of doxygen. I've found this already, which seems to be a good starting point if I have to implement it myself, but possibly I'm missing a complete project :-) So, suggestions welcome!

• Trying to run psexec to remote to server and recycle app pool

  If I run this from my command prompt it works fine. psexec \ServerName cscript.exe iisapp.vbs /a AppName /r I'm trying to do the same thing with C# console app. I'm using the below code but most of the time the application hangs and doesn't complete, and the few times it does it throws an error code. Am I doing this wrong?   Hi There! I have an issue with expiration date in emails. For example, I have a subscription which expires on 1st FEB 2010 and I am purchasing new subscription (renewing my role). When order is complete Ubercart CA (Condition actions) sends an email about role renewal and new expiration date ([role-expiration-short]). But the message contains wrong expiration date I've noticed that on each order email contains N-1 expiration, where N - current purchase. This is email message: [order-first-name] [order-last-name], Thanks to your order, [order-link], at [store-name] you have renewed the role, [role-name]. It is now set to expire on [role-expiration-short] <- ISSUE IS HERE. Thanks again, [store-name] [site-slogan] Any ideas? Thanks!

• With VIM, use both snipMate and pydiction together (share the <tab> key?)

  I am trying to use snipMate and pydiction in vim together - however, both use the <tab> key to perform their genius-auto-completion-snippet-rendering-goodness-that-I-so-desire. When pydiction is installed, snipMate stops working. I assume its because they can't both own the <tab> key. How can I get them to work together? I wouldn't mind mapping one of them to a different key, but I am not really sure how to do this ... (maybe pydiction to the <ctrl-n> key so it mimics vim's autocomplete?). • What web based programming environments exist to learn on?

  I loved appjet (the programming environment) before it was taken over by Google. What other web based complete programming environments are out there? Which one do you think is best for starting to do real world coding the fastest? I really think coding from your browser will make programming more accessible to the public. Are there any out there that use a vim style, (e.g. jsvi) in combination with free server side hosting? The last time I looked at Bespin it was a little green. Are there others?
