• Gridview : Hyperlink and description in the same column cell

  Hi Guys, Apologies for the newbie question. My client wishes me to make a small change to the gridview on his http://www.flogitdonegal.com/SearchPage.aspx page. Note the way the Title column is a hyperlink to view more information. This comes from a 'BriefDescription' field in the database. How can I add 250 chars from the 'FullDescription' underneath the Title in the same cell, but I dont want it be a hyperlink. Essentially it will be 2 fields coming into the same column.   Hi guys. I have a few text fields and text views on my application's view. The keyboard comes up when I click in anyone of them. I have a method that gets called when any one of these objects is tapped in. However, I would like the method to execute its code only if the a certain Text Field(s) or a certain Text View(s) is tapped in. I would therefore like to have something like this in the method body: { if(currentField != mySpecialField) {return;} //Rest of the method code... } Now, my question is, how do I get a reference to the currently tapped in field so that I can perform the if-check. • Doing a join across two databases with different collations on SQL Server and getting an error.

  I know, I know with what I wrote in the question I shouldn't be surprised. But my situation is slowly working on an inherited POS system and my predecessor apparently wasn't aware of JOINs so when I looked into one of the internal pages that loads for 60 seconds I see that it's a fairly quick, rewrite these 8 queries as one query with JOINs situation. Problem is that besides not knowing about JOINs he also seems to have had a fetish for multiple databases and surprise, surprise they use different collations. Fact of the matter is we use all "normal" latin characters that English speaking people would consider the entire alphabet and this whole thing will be out of use in a few months so a bandaid is all I need. Long story short is I need some kind of method to cast to a single collation so I can compare two fields from two databases. Exact error is: Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_CI_AI" and "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.

  Yes, this is another Pivot question... I've read through nearly all the previous questions and I can't seem to hack together a query that does what I need. Here is what my table looks like: FirmName Account Balance Pmt Revolving Installment Mortgage Amex 12345 10000 2000 1 0 0 Discover 54321 20000 4000 1 0 0 Chase 13579 100000 1500 0 0 1 Wells Fargo 2468 40000 900 0 1 0 The last three bit columns (Revolving, Installment, & Mortgage) dictate how the columns should be rolled up into a type. Each result requires three columns based on the type and its row count. The outcome should be one row with many columns.   i want to normalize date fields from an old badly designed db dump. i now need to update every row, where the datefield only contains the year. update table set date = '01.01.' + date where date like '____' and isnumeric(date) = 1 and date >= 1950 but this will not work, because sql does not do short circuit evaluation of boolean expressions. thus i get an error "error converting nvarchar '01.07.1989' to int" is there a way to work around this? the column also contains strings with a length of 4, which are not numbers (????, 5/96, 70/8, etc.) the table only has 60000 rows

  I need to catch the following specific exception: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was caught ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message="The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again." Source="Microsoft JET Database Engine" I'm not sure what ErrorCode is but it looks unreliable. Can I rely on Message being identical across platforms? Is the only solution to do a text search of Message for words like duplicate and primary key? Note: see my question here for why I need to catch this exception.

• Possible to access gdata api when using Java App Engine?

  I have a dilemma where I want to create an application that manipulates google contacts information. The problem comes down to the fact that Python only supports version 1.0 of the api whilst Java supports 3.0. I also want it to be web-based so I'm having a look at google app engine, but it seems that only the python version of app engine supports the import of gdata apis whilst java does not. So its either web based and version 1.0 of the api or non-web based and version 3.0 of the api. I actually need version 3.0 to get access to the extra fields provided by google contacts. So my question is, is there a way to get access to the gdata api under Google App Engine using Java? If not is there an ETA on when version 3.0 of the gdata api will be released for python? Cheers.

• Rails: Accessing previous loop in Populator (rake db:populate)

  I am populating my Rails database using populator, and I have a case where I would like to build a series of records where fields start_date and end_date follow seamlessly from each other (from today back into the past). Here is a sample of what I'm doing: Chain.populate 1 do |ch| ch.date_end = DateTime.now ch.date_start = DateTime.civil(DateTime.now.year-rand(40)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Chain.populate 0..10 do |chs| chs.date_end = Chain.find(:last).date_start chs.date_start = DateTime.civil(chs.date_end.year-rand(10)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Problem? undefined method 'date_start' for nil:NilClass. I assume the problem is the first Chain record hasn't been saved, so I added: Chain.save # in between the two loops This didn't work either. How can I make this work? Thank you!

• ASP.Net Form Databound problems

  I know there is a similar problem on this forum, but the solutions did not really work for me. I am populating form controls with fields from a few different data sources, and the data shows up great. I have an ImageButton controlwhich has an OnClick Event set to grab all of the data from the form. Unfortunately, when I click the button, it seems as though the page is reloading first, and THEN is executes the OnClick call. The data that was hand-entered, or hard-coded seems to be pulled fine from the controls it was entered in, but anything that was pulled from a datasource is not able to be read. Any ideas. this is the last hurdle in a project that I have been working on for 6 months. I want to go home... Thank you so much in advance. Jason

• Nhibernate ValueType Collection as delimited string in DB

  Hi I have a legacy db that I am mapping with Nhibernate. And in several locations a list och strigs or domain objects are mapped as a delimited string in the database. Either 'string|string|string' in the value type cases and like 'domainID|domainID|domainID' in the references type cases. I know I can create a dummy property on the class and map to that fields but I would like to do it in a more clean way, like when mapping Enums as their string representation with the EnumStringType class.   I got dpm($form) working. Nice! This is much better way to view data. I am still trying to figure out where stuff is coming from eg: location longitude & latitude. The word 'longitude' is referenced in 20 different places. I thought this was a likely place to isolate text box for this input field. dpm($form['#field_info']['field_store_latitude']['location_settings']['form']['fields']); Any tips on how to track down individual input elements?

  Hello, I use : Subsonic 3, SQL Server 2008, Json.Net Here is my problem : I have a house table with id,lot number, address, location, ownerid and an owner table with id,name, description. I'd like to get only the owner name and address of house where location is "San Francisco". How can I do this with Subsonic? My problem is I can only get a typed list or a datareader, I don't understand how to only get an array or a simple list. What is the best solution? Create a custom class ? Create a View ? Anything else ? My aim is to then serialize the data to send it back to my application, but serialization is seriously long because of the numerous relationships (My example here is simplified, there are indeed : house - owner - city - country etc.), whereas I need only 2 fields... • C# GridView dynamically built columns with textboxes ontextchanged

  My page is a bulk order form that has many products and various size options. I've got a gridview that has a 3 static columns with labels. There are then some dynamically built columns. Each of the dynamically built columns have a textbox in them. The textbox is for quantity. Trying to either update the server with the quantity entered each time a textbox is changed (possibly ontextchanged event) or loop though each of the rows column by column and gather all the items that have a quantity and process those items and their quantities all at once (via button onclick). If I put the process that builds the GridView behind a if(!Page.IsPostBack) then the when a textchanged event fires the gridview only gets the static fields and the dynamic ones are gone. If I remove the if(!Page.IsPostBack) the process to gather and build the page is too heavy on processing and takes too long to render the page again. Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  I am having difficulty serializing a django object. The problem is that there are foreign keys. I want the serialization to have data from the referenced object, not just the index. For example, I would like the sponsor data field to say "sponsor.last_name, sponsor.first_name" rather than "13".   I have the following table, which is used for storing bandings. The table is maintained via a web frontend. I want to get to a position where I can use the operators values stored in the table in a case statement in a where clause. Like this. SELECT * FROM table WHERE CASE ValueLowerLimitOperator WHEN '<' THEN VALUE < X WHEN '>' THEN VALUE > X END rather than having to write mutiple case or if statements for each permutation. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can decode the operators values stored in the table as part of my query and then use them in a case/where statement?
