  A look at the documentation for "Typed Measures" shows:"Using format strings, you can format the values (cell contents) of Essbase database members in numeric type measures so that they appear, for query purposes, as text, dates, or other types of predefined values. The resultant display value is the cell’s formatted value (FORMATTED_VALUE property in MDX). The underlying real value is numeric, and this value is unaffected by the associated formatted value."To actually switch ON the use of typed measures in general, you need to navigate to the outline properties: open outline select properties change "Typed Measures enable" to TRUE (click to enlarge) As an example, I created two additional members in the ASOSamp outline. - A member "delta Price" in the Measures (Accounts) Dimension with the Formula: ([Original Price],[Curr_year])-([Original Price],[Prev_year])This is equivalent to the Variance Formula used in the "Years" Dimension. - A member "Var_Quickview" in the "Years" Dimension with the same formula as the "Variance" Member.This will be used to simply display a second cell with the same underlying value as Variance - but formatted using Format String hence enabling BOTH in the same report.   (guest reference added by Nancy) Anyone who has been working with Data import and exoport as well as the Essbase Excel Add In has probably come across a phenomenon that is called data precision: Lots of zeroes are added to any given number that has been calculated by Essbase, and this gets displayed as "10.0000000000001" or "9.99999999999999" instead of a simple "10" . This question is one of the recurring ones that Support get asked over and over again, and we therefore feel the need to give an explanation to it: I would like to point you to the note The Limits of Data Precision in Essbase (Doc ID 1311188.1) which explains in detail why these numbers are showing up and what to do about it.

• EBS 11.5.10 Support Exception / 12.1 Extends to Dec 2018

  E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Sustaining Support Exception & 12.1 Extended Support Now to Dec. 2018 [ID 1495337.1] As part of Oracle’s continued commitment to our customers, we will be providing an exception for the first 13 months of Sustaining Support on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (11i10), valid from December 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014. This exception support will be comprised of three components: (1) new fixes for Severity 1 production issues, (2) United States Form 1099 2013 year-end updates, and (3) payroll regulatory updates for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia for fiscal years ending in 2014.  In addition, the Extended Support period for E-Business Suite Release 12.1 has been extended through December, 2018. Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract will automatically be entitled to Extended Support deliverables for E-Business Suite 12.1. Please refer to the Lifetime Support section of oracle.com for further information regarding Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy for Applications. This change will be reflected in the October update to the Software Technical Support Policies.

Note: 10.1.3.4.2 is a QA-tested patchset (collection of all bug fixes from 10.1.3.4.1 merged together) and is not an upgrade.

  posted by Maurice Bauhahn Remote Diagnostic Agent (RDA) version 4.30 was released on December 11th A free download can be accessed via Knowledge Management article 314422.1 and installed in any Enterprise Performance Management 11.1.2.x environment. EPM-specific instructions are available in Knowledge Management article 1304885.1. This RDA version incorporates two new modules (EAS=Essbase Administration Services; HWA=Hyperion Web Analysis) and improvements in modules and profiles relating to twelve other Hyperion applications (EPM, EPMA, ESS, FCM, HFM, HFR, HIR, HPL, HPSV, HSS, PR, and HSV). To follow best practice, run related RDA profiles [for example: "perl rda.pl -vnSCRPp Hyperion1112_EAS"] and attach the output zip file [by default in \rda\output\] to your service requests. The comprehensive set of details provided in such output files should help technicians to avoid delays in handling service requests (by avoiding ping-pong communications resulting from repeated requests for additional values).

  Question from a customer on an internal mailing list this, succintly answered by RTF Template God, Hok-Min Q: Whats the upper limit for a sum calculation in terms of the largest number BIP can handle? A: Internally, XSL-T processor uses double precession.  Therefore the upper limit and precision will be same as double (IEEE 754 double-precision binary floating-point format, binary64). Approximately 16 significant decimal digits, max is 1.7976931348623157 x 10308 . So, now you know :)
