    Editing my question for conciseness and to update what I've done: How do I model having multiple Addresses for a Company and assign a single Address to a Contact, and be able to assign them when creating or editing a Contact? I want to use nested attributes to be able to add an address at the time of creating a new contact. That address exists as its own model because I may want the option to drop-down from existing addresses rather than entering from scratch. I can't seem to get it to work.   • ListBoxFor not populating with selected items

    I've see this question asked a couple of other times, and I followed this after I tried things on my own with the MS music store demo to no avail, but I still can't get this to work. I've also noticed when I look at my MultiSelectList object in the viewmodel, it has the correct items in the selected items property, but if I expand the results view, it doesn't have any listboxitem with the selected value. This shows the correct tags as selected in the results view when I watch the mslTags object in debug mode.   • CFStrings and storing them into models, related topics

    I have a very frustrating issue that I believe involves CFStringRef and passing them along to custom model properties. The code is pretty messy right now as I am in a debug state, but I will try to describe the problem in words as best as I can. I have a custom model, User, which for irrelevant reasons, I am storing CF types derived from the Address Book API into. Examples include: Name, email as NSStrings. I am simply retrieving the CFStringRef value from the AddressBook API and casting as a string, whereupon I assign to the custom model instance and then CFRelease the string. These NSString properties are set as (nonatomic, retain). I then store this model into an NSArray, and I use this Array as a datasource for a UITableView When accessing the object in the cellForRowAtIndexPath, I get a memory access error. When I do a Debug, I see that the value for this datasource array appears at first glance to be corrupted. I've seen strange values assigned to it, including just plain strings, such as one that I fed to an NSLog function in earlier in the method. So, the thing that leads me to believe that this is Core Foundation related is that I am executing this exact same code, in the same class even, on non-Address Book data, in fact, just good old JSON parsed strings, which produce true Cocoa NSStrings, that I follow the same exact steps to create the datasource array. This code works fine. I have a feeling that my (retain) property declaration and/or my [stringVar release] in my custom model dealloc method may be causing memory problems (since it is my understanding that you shouldn't call a Cocoa retain or release on a CF object). Here is the code. I know some of this is super-roundabout but I was trying to make things as explicit as possible for the sake of debugging. But when I use abFriends as a datasource, poof. Dead. Is my approach all wrong? Any advice?

  • Android - Using PreferenceScreen to display and save settings to/from ContentProvider

    I have my own custom Content Provider that loads a datasbase which contains the settings information for my application. I load the settings from the ContentProvider on the creation of my Settings activity. My Settings activity is made up of a PreferenceScreen and Dialog based EditText's. The following code shows how I use the preference screen and edit texts. So as you can see from the first image this works and displays the menu with the information underneath. The problem is in image two, when I click on a choice in the menu the dialog pops up but it is empty, I would like to be able to load the data from my content provider into the edit text in the dialog, so in image one it shows "Donal" as the user name so in image two "Donal" should also appear in the edit text in the dialog. I would also like to be able to listen to the OK button in the dialog so when a user changes a setting I can update the data in my content provider. Can anyone help me with what I'm trying to do? When the IIS Application Pool is configured to use Network Service, everything runs fine.     I recently migrated a database from sql server 2005 to 2008 on windows server 2008. Clients connect fine from their XP machines and so does the SQL Management Studio 2008.     Has anyone using .net actually worked out how to successfully sign a signature to use with CloudFront private content? After a couple of days of attempts all I can get is Access Denied. I have been working with variations of the following code and also tried using OpenSSL.Net and AWSSDK but that does not have a sign method for RSA-SHA1 yet. The signature (data) looks like this {"Statement":[{"Resource":"http://xxxx.cloudfront.net/xxxx.jpg","Condition":?{"DateLessThan":?{"AWS:EpochTime":1266922799}}}]} This method attempts to sign the signature for use in the canned url. Searching for the error didn't give much clarity. Does this have something to do with the response from the server? Or is it something else?   • Problems with zend-tool reporting that providers are not valid

    I have recently setup XAMPP 1.7.3 and ZendFramework 1.10.4 on a new computer and many of the commands that I normally use now fail. Here are the steps I used to setup and test ZF. First I added the ZF library folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\library) to the include path in php.ini. Then I added the ZF bin folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\bin) to my Path system variable. To test that everything is configured correctly I ran the command "zf show version" from the command line. The result is "Zend Framework Version: 1.9.6". Immediately something appears to be wrong. The file that is downloaded is "ZendFramework-1.10.4.zip" and the reported version is 1.9.6. I have re-downloaded the latest version (1.10.4) and removed old copy. Still the incorrect version number problem persisted. Having done some research there is a bug in the ZF knowledgebase that version 1.10.3 reports a wrong version number. So that may explain the version number problem. Moving forward I tried to run some zf-tool commands and certain commands reports that the action or provider is not valid.     I'm having a leak with this code without being able to find where it's coming from. This function get called within an autorelease pool. I release the IplImage* image argument. When I run the ObjAlloc tool, it tells me that "NSData* data" is leaking. If I try to manually release the UIImage returned by this function, I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error, probably because this UIImage is autoreleased. I'm a bit confused, any hint would be appreciated.     We have an application parsing date/time values in the following format: 2009-10-10 09:19:12.124 2009-10-10 12:13:14.852 2009-10-10 13:00:00 2009-10-10 15:23:32.022 One particular server all of the sudden (today) started failing to parse any times 13:00:00 or later. This particular client has five servers and only one has the problem. We have dozens of other clients with a total of hundreds of servers without the problem. System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. at System.DateTimeParse.Parse(String s, DateTimeFormatInfo dtfi, DateTimeStyles styles) at System.DateTime.Parse(String s, IFormatProvider provider) at System.Convert.ToDateTime(String value, IFormatProvider provider) at System.String.System.IConvertible.ToDateTime(IFormatProvider provider) at System.Convert.ToDateTime(Object value) I ran a test using DateTime.Parse(s, CultureInfo.CurrentCulture) comapred to DateTime.Parse(s, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture) and the problem only shows up with CurrentCulture. However, CurrentCulture is "en-US" just like all the other servers and there's nothing different that I can find in regional or language settings. Has anyone seen this before? Suggestions related to what I can look into? EDIT: Thank you for the answers so far. However, I'm looking for suggestions on what configuration to look into that could have caused this to suddenly change behavior and stop working when it's worked for years and works on hundreds of other servers. I've already changed it for the next version, but I'm looking for a configuration change to fix this in the interim for the current installation.
