  • INSERT stored procedure does not work?

    - by vikitor
    Hello, I'm trying to make an insertion from one database called suspension to the table called Notification in the ANimals database. My stored procedure is this: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[spCreateNotification] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @notRecID int, @notName nvarchar(50), @notRecStatus nvarchar(1), @notAdded smalldatetime, @notByWho int AS BEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON; -- Insert statements for procedure here INSERT INTO Animals.dbo.Notification values (@notRecID, @notName, @notRecStatus, null, @notAdded, @notByWho); END The null inserting is to replenish one column that otherwise will not be filled, I've tried different ways, like using also the names for the columns after the name of the table and then only indicate in values the fields I've got. I know it is not a problem of the stored procedure because I executed it from the sql server management studio and it works introducing the parameters. Then I guess the problem must be in the repository when I call the stored procedure: public void createNotification(Notification not) { try { DB.spCreateNotification(not.NotRecID, not.NotName, not.NotRecStatus, (DateTime)not.NotAdded, (int)not.NotByWho); } catch { return; } } It does not record the value in the database. I've been debugging and getting mad about this, because it works when I execute it manually, but not when I automatize the proccess in my application. Does anyone see anything wrong with my code? Thank you

  • Storing records in a dropdownlist from DB without using LINQ Data source

    - by user1318369
    I have a website for dance academy where Users can register and add/drop dance classes. In the web page to drop a particular dance, for a particular user, the dropdown displays her registered dances. Now I want to delete one of the dances from the list. So i'll remove the row from the table and also from the dropdownlist. The problem is that everytime the item with the lowest ID (index) is getting deleted, no matter which one the user selects. I think I am storing the DataTextField and DataValueField for the dropdown incorrectly. Can someone please help me out? The code is: private void PopulateDanceDropDown() { var registereddanceList = from dd in context.DANCER_AND_DANCE where dd.UserId == dancerId select new { Text = dd.DanceName, Value = dd.DanceId }; dances.DataSource = registereddanceList; dances.DataTextField = "Text"; dances.DataValueField = "Value"; dances.DataBind(); } protected void dropthedance(object o, EventArgs e) { String strDataValueField = dances.SelectedItem.Value; int danceIDFromDropDown = Convert.ToInt32(strDataValueField); var dancer_dance = from dd in context.DANCER_AND_DANCE where dd.DanceId == danceIDFromDropDown select dd; foreach (var dndd in dancer_dance) { context.DANCER_AND_DANCE.DeleteOnSubmit(dndd); } try { context.SubmitChanges(); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex); } PopulateDanceDropDown(); }

  • Could DataGridView be this dumb? or its me?lol

    Am trying to bind data to a dropdown list on pageload based on a condition. Code explains further below. public partial class AddExhibit : System.Web.UI.Page { string adminID, caseIDRetrieved; DataSet caseDataSet = new DataSet(); SqlDataAdapter caseSqlDataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(); string strConn = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CMSSQL3ConnectionString1"].ConnectionString; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { adminID = Request.QueryString["adminID"]; caseIDRetrieved = Request.QueryString["caseID"]; if (caseIDRetrieved != null) { CaseIDDropDownList.Text = caseIDRetrieved; //CaseIDDropDownList.Enabled = false; } else { try { CreateDataSet(); DataView caseDataView = new DataView(caseDataSet.Tables[0]); CaseIDDropDownList.DataSource = caseDataView; CaseIDDropDownList.DataBind(); } catch (Exception ex) { string script = "<script>alert('" + ex.Message + "');</script>"; } } } The CreateDataset method that is called in the if..else statement is contains the following code. private void CreateDataSet() { SqlConnection caseConnection = new SqlConnection(strConn); caseSqlDataAdapter.SelectCommand = new SqlCommand("Select CaseID FROM Cases", caseConnection); caseSqlDataAdapter.Fill(caseDataSet); } However when i load the page and as usual the condition that is supposed to bid the data is met, the gridview decides to displays as follows... IS IT ME OR ITS THE DATAGRID?...??

  • Efficiently sending protocol buffer messages with http on an android platform

    - by Ben Griffiths
    I'm trying to send messages generated by Google Protocol Buffer code via a simple HTTP scheme to a server. What I have currently have implemented is here (forgive the obvious incompletion...): HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); String url = "http://192.168.1.69:8888/sdroidmarshal"; HttpPost postRequest = new HttpPost(url); String proto = offers.build().toString(); List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(1); nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("sdroidmsg", proto)); postRequest.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs)); try { ResponseHandler<String> responseHandler = new BasicResponseHandler(); String responseBody = client.execute(postRequest, responseHandler); } catch (Throwable t) { } I'm not that experienced with communications over the internet and no more so with HTTP - while I do understand the basics... So my question, before I blindly develop the rest of the application around this, is whether or not this is particularly efficient? I ideally would like to keep messages small and I assume toString() adds some unnecessary formatting.

  • JavaFX: File upload to REST service / servlet fails because of missing boundary

    - by spa
    I'm trying to upload a file using JavaFX using the HttpRequest. For this purpose I have written the following function. function uploadFile(inputFile : File) : Void { // check file if (inputFile == null or not(inputFile.exists()) or inputFile.isDirectory()) { return; } def httpRequest : HttpRequest = HttpRequest { location: urlConverter.encodeURL("{serverUrl}"); source: new FileInputStream(inputFile) method: HttpRequest.POST headers: [ HttpHeader { name: HttpHeader.CONTENT_TYPE value: "multipart/form-data" } ] } httpRequest.start(); } On the server side, I am trying to handle the incoming data using the Apache Commons FileUpload API using a Jersey REST service. The code used to do this is a simple copy of the FileUpload tutorial on the Apache homepage. @Path("Upload") public class UploadService { public static final String RC_OK = "OK"; public static final String RC_ERROR = "ERROR"; @POST @Produces("text/plain") public String handleFileUpload(@Context HttpServletRequest request) { if (!ServletFileUpload.isMultipartContent(request)) { return RC_ERROR; } FileItemFactory factory = new DiskFileItemFactory(); ServletFileUpload upload = new ServletFileUpload(factory); List<FileItem> items = null; try { items = upload.parseRequest(request); } catch (FileUploadException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return RC_ERROR; } ... } } However, I get a exception at items = upload.parseRequest(request);: org.apache.commons.fileupload.FileUploadException: the request was rejected because no multipart boundary was found I guess I have to add a manual boundary info to the InputStream. Is there any easy solution to do this? Or are there even other solutions?

  • Is it safe to read regular expressions from a file?

    - by Zilk
    Assuming a Perl script that allows users to specify several text filter expressions in a config file, is there a safe way to let them enter regular expressions as well, without the possibility of unintended side effects or code execution? Without actually parsing the regexes and checking them for problematic constructs, that is. There won't be any substitution, only matching. As an aside, is there a way to test if the specified regex is valid before actually using it? I'd like to issue warnings if something like /foo (bar/ was entered. Thanks, Z. EDIT: Thanks for the very interesting answers. I've since found out that the following dangerous constructs will only be evaluated in regexes if the use re 'eval' pragma is used: (?{code}) (??{code}) ${code} @{code} The default is no re 'eval'; so unless I'm missing something, it should be safe to read regular expressions from a file, with the only check being the eval/catch posted by Axeman. At least I haven't been able to hide anything evil in them in my tests. Thanks again. Z.

  • Mamimum page fetch with maximum bandwith

    - by Ehsan
    Hi I want to create an application like a spider I've implement fetching page as the following code in multi-thread application but there is two problem 1) I want to use my maximum bandwidth to send/receive request, how should I config my request to do so (Like Download Accelerator application and the like) cause I heard the normal application will use 66% of the available bandwidth. 2) I don't know what exactly HttpWebRequest.KeepAlive do, but as its name implies I think i can create a connection to a website and without closing the connection sending another request to that web site using existing connection. does it boost performance or Im wrong public PageFetchResult Fetch() { PageFetchResult fetchResult = new PageFetchResult(); try { HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(URLAddress); HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); Uri requestedURI = new Uri(URLAddress); Uri responseURI = resp.ResponseUri; if (Uri.Equals(requestedURI, responseURI)) { string resultHTML = ""; byte[] reqHTML = ResponseAsBytes(resp); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(FetchingEncoding)) resultHTML = Encoding.GetEncoding(FetchingEncoding).GetString(reqHTML); else if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(resp.CharacterSet)) resultHTML = Encoding.GetEncoding(resp.CharacterSet).GetString(reqHTML); req.Abort(); resp.Close(); fetchResult.IsOK = true; fetchResult.ResultHTML = resultHTML; } else { URLAddress = responseURI.AbsoluteUri; relayPageCount++; if (relayPageCount > 5) { fetchResult.IsOK = false; fetchResult.ErrorMessage = "Maximum page redirection occured."; relayPageCount = 0; return fetchResult; } req.Abort(); resp.Close(); return Fetch(); } } catch (Exception ex) { fetchResult.IsOK = false; fetchResult.ErrorMessage = ex.Message; } return fetchResult; }

  • VB.NET: Dialog exits when enter pressed?

    - by Camilo Martin
    Hi all; My problem seems to be quite simple, but it's not working the intuitive way. I'm designing a Windows Forms Application, and there is a dialog that should NOT exit when the enter key is pressed, instead it has to validate data first, in case enter was pressed after changing the text of a ComboBox. I've tried by telling it what to do on KeyPress event of the ComboBox if e is the Enter key: Private Sub ComboBoxSizeChoose_KeyPress(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles ComboBoxSizeChoose.KeyPress If e.KeyChar = Convert.ToChar(Keys.Enter) Then Try TamanhoDaNovaFonte = Single.Parse(ComboBoxSizeChoose.Text) Catch ex As Exception Dim Dialogo2 As New Dialog2 Dialog2.ShowDialog() ComboBoxSizeChoose.Text = TamanhoDaNovaFonte End Try End If End Sub But no success so far. When the Enter key is pressed, even with the ComboBox on focus, the whole dialog is closed, returning to the previous form. The validation is NOT done at all, and it has to be done before exiting. In fact, I don't even want to exit on the form's enter KeyPress, the only purpose of the enter key on the whole dialog is to validate the ComboBox (but only when in focus, for the sake of an intuitive UI). I've also tried appending the validation to the KeyPress event of the whole dialog's form, if the key is Enter. NO SUCCESS! It's like my code wasn't there at all. What should I do? (Visual Studio 2008, VB.NET)

  • Download dynaic file with GWT

    - by Maksim
    I have a GWT page where user enter data (start date, end date, etc.), then this data goes to the server via RPC call. On the server I want to generate Excel report with POI and let user save that file on their local machine. This is my test code to stream file back to the client but for some reason it does not know: public class ReportsServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements ReportsService { public String myMethod(String s) { File f = new File("/excelTestFile.xls"); String filename = f.getName(); int length = 0; try { HttpServletResponse resp = getThreadLocalResponse(); ServletOutputStream op = resp.getOutputStream(); ServletContext context = getServletConfig().getServletContext(); resp.setContentType("application/octet-stream"); resp.setContentLength((int) f.length()); resp.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename*=\"utf-8''" + filename + ""); byte[] bbuf = new byte[1024]; DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(new FileInputStream(f)); while ((in != null) && ((length = in.read(bbuf)) != -1)) { op.write(bbuf, 0, length); } in.close(); op.flush(); op.close(); } catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } return "Server says: " + filename; } } I've red somewhere on internet that you can't do file stream with RPC and I have to use Servlet for that. Is there any example of how to use Servlet and how to call that servlet from ReportsServiceImpl

  • Adding an unknown number of JComponents to a JPanel

    - by Matthew
    Good day, I am building an Applet (JApplet to be exact) and I sub divided that into two panels. The top panel is called DisplayPanel which is a custom class that extends JPanel. The bottom panel is called InputPanel which also extends JPanel. As mentioned above, I can add those two Panel's to the applet and they display fine. The next thing that I would like to do is have the InputPanel be able to hold a random number of JComponent Objects all listed veritcally. This means that the InputPanel should be able to have JButtons, JLabels, JTextFields etc thrown at it. I then want the InputPanel to display some sort of scrolling capability. The catch is that since these two panels are already inside my applet, I need the InputPanel to stay the same size as it was given when added to the Applet. So for example, if my applet (from the web-browser html code) was given the size 700,700, and then the DisplayPanel was 700 by 350, and the InputPanel was below it with the same dimensions, I want to then be able to add lots of JComponents like buttons, to the InputPanel and the panel would stay 700 x 350 in the same position that it is at, only the panel would have scroll bars if needed. I've played with many different combinations of JScrollPane, but just cannot get it. Thank you.

  • Checking if a console application is still running using the Process class

    - by Ced
    I'm making an application that will monitor the state of another process and restart it when it stops responding, exits, or throws an error. However, I'm having trouble to make it reliably check if the process (Being a C++ Console window) has stopped responding. My code looks like this: public void monitorserver() { while (true) { server.StartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(textbox_srcdsexe.Text, startstring); server.Start(); log("server started"); log("Monitor started."); while (server.Responding) { if (server.HasExited) { log("server exitted, Restarting."); break; } log("server is running: " + server.Responding.ToString()); Thread.Sleep(1000); } log("Server stopped responding, terminating.."); try { server.Kill(); } catch (Exception) { } } } The application I'm monitoring is Valve's Source Dedicated Server, running Garry's Mod, and I'm over stressing the physics engine to simulate it stopping responding. However, this never triggers the process class recognizing it as 'stopped responding'. I know there are ways to directly query the source server using their own protocol, but i'd like to keep it simple and universal (So that i can maybe use it for different applications in the future). Any help appreciated

  • What is an elegant way to set up a leiningen project that requires different dependencies based on the build platform?

    - by Savanni D'Gerinel
    In order to do some multi-platform GUI development, I have just switched from GTK + Clojure (because it looks like the Java bindings for GTK never got ported to Windows) to SWT + Clojure. So far, so good in that I have gotten an uberjar built for Linux. The catch, though, is that I want to build an uberjar for Windows and I am trying to figure out a clean way to manage the project.clj file. At first, I thought I would set the classpath to point to the SWT libraries and then build the uberjar. This would require that I set a classpath to the SWT libraries before running the jar, but I would likely need a launcher script, anyway. However, leiningen seems to ignore the classpath in this instance because it always reports that Currently, project.clj looks like this for me: (defproject alyra.mana-punk/character "1.0.0-SNAPSHOT" :description "FIXME: write" :dependencies [[org.clojure/clojure "1.2.0"] [org.clojure/clojure-contrib "1.2.0"] [org.eclipse/swt-gtk-linux-x86 "3.5.2"]] :main alyra.mana-punk.character.core) The relevant line is the org.eclipse/swt-gtk-linux-x86 line. If I want to make an uberjar for Windows, I have to depend on org.eclipse/swt-win32-win32-x86, and another one for x86-64, and so on and so forth. My current solution is to simply create a separate branch for each build environment with a different project.clj. This seems kinda like using a semi to deliver a single gallon of milk, but I am using bazaar for version control, so branching and repeated integrations are easy. Maybe the better way is to have a project.linux.clj, project.win32.clj, etc, but I do not see any way to tell leiningen which project descriptor to use. What are other (preferably more elegant) ways to set up such an environment?

  • Design: How to declare a specialized memory handler class

    - by Michael Dorgan
    On an embedded type system, I have created a Small Object Allocator that piggy backs on top of a standard memory allocation system. This allocator is a Boost::simple_segregated_storage< class and it does exactly what I need - O(1) alloc/dealloc time on small objects at the cost of a touch of internal fragmentation. My question is how best to declare it. Right now, it's scope static declared in our mem code module, which is probably fine, but it feels a bit exposed there and is also now linked to that module forever. Normally, I declare it as a monostate or a singleton, but this uses the dynamic memory allocator (where this is located.) Furthermore, our dynamic memory allocator is being initialized and used before static object initialization occurs on our system (as again, the memory manager is pretty much the most fundamental component of an engine.) To get around this catch 22, I added an extra 'if the small memory allocator exists' to see if the small object allocator exists yet. That if that now must be run on every small object allocation. In the scheme of things, this is nearly negligable, but it still bothers me. So the question is, is there a better way to declare this portion of the memory manager that helps decouple it from the memory module and perhaps not costing that extra isinitialized() if statement? If this method uses dynamic memory, please explain how to get around lack of initialization of the small object portion of the manager.

  • How to Update with LINQ?

    - by DaveDev
    currently, I'm doing an update similar to as follows, because I can't see a better way of doing it. I've tried suggestions that I've read in blogs but none work, such as http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb425822.aspx and http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/05/19/using-linq-to-sql-part-1.aspx Maybe these do work and I'm missing some point. Has anyone else had luck with them? // please note this isn't the actual code. // I've modified it to clarify the point I wanted to make // and also I didn't want to post our code here! public bool UpdateMyStuff(int myId, List<int> funds) { // get MyTypes that correspond to the ID I want to update IQueryable<MyType> myTypes = database.MyTypes.Where(xx => xx.MyType_MyId == myId); // delete them from the database foreach (db.MyType mt in myTypes) { database.MyTypes.DeleteOnSubmit(mt); } database.SubmitChanges(); // create a new row for each item I wanted to update, and insert it foreach (int fund in funds) { database.MyType mt = new database.MyType { MyType_MyId = myId, fund_id = fund }; database.MyTypes.InsertOnSubmit(mt); } // try to commit the insert try { database.SubmitChanges(); return true; } catch (Exception) { return false; throw; } } Unfortunately, there isn't a database.MyTypes.Update() method so I don't know a better way to do it. Can sombody suggest what I could do? Thanks. ..as a side note, why isn't there an Update() method?

  • TextBox change is not saved to DataTable

    - by SeaDrive
    I'm having trouble with a simple table edit in a Winform application. I must have missed a step. I have a DataSet containing a DataTable connected to a database with a SqlDataAdapter. There is a SqlCommandBuilder on the SqlDataAdapter. On the form, there are TextBoxes which are bound to the DataTable. The binding was done in the Designer and it machine-produced statements like this: this.tbLast.DataBindings.Add(new System.Windows.Forms.Binding("Text", this.belkData, "belk_mem.last", true)); When I fill the row in the DataTable, the values from the database appear in the textboxes, but when I change contents of the TextBox, the changes are apparently not being going to the DataTable. When I try to save change both of the following return null: DataTable dtChanges = dtMem.GetChanges(); DataSet dsChanges = belkData.GetChanges(); What did I forget? Edit - response to mrlucmorin: The save is under a button. Code is: BindingContext[belkData, "belk_mem"].EndCurrentEdit(); try { DataSet dsChanges = belkData.GetChanges(); if (dsChanges != null) { int nRows = sdaMem.Update(dsChanges); MessageBox.Show("Row(s) Updated: " + nRows.ToString()); belkData.AcceptChanges(); } else { MessageBox.Show("Nothing to save.", "No changes"); } } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show("Error: " + ex.Message); } I've tried putting in these statements without any change in behavior: dtMem.AcceptChanges(); belkData.AcceptChanges();

    Hi All, Hibernate Newbie here. I am quite unsure why I am not getting any exception when I am executing below code. On first attempt, this code creates the Book Entry on my Book Table. But my concern is that when I execute below code again, no error was pop out by Hibernate. I was in fact expecting some sort of Violation of Primary Key Constraints as what I have bee doing in JDBC code. public class BookDao { public void createBook(Book bookObj) { Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory() .getCurrentSession(); session.beginTransaction(); session.saveOrUpdate(bookObj); session.getTransaction().commit(); } } public class HibernateUtil { private static final SessionFactory sessionFactory = buildSessionFactory(); private static SessionFactory buildSessionFactory() { try { // Create the SessionFactory from hibernate.cfg.xml return new AnnotationConfiguration().configure() .buildSessionFactory(); } catch (Throwable ex) { // Make sure you log the exception, as it might be swallowed ex.printStackTrace(); throw new ExceptionInInitializerError(ex); } } public static SessionFactory getSessionFactory() { return sessionFactory; } } public class BookDBStarter { public static void main(String[] args) { Book bookHF = new Book(); bookHF.setIsbn("HF-12345"); bookHF.setName("Head First HTML"); bookHF.setPublishDate(new Date()); BookDao daoBook = new BookDao(); daoBook.createBook(bookHF); } } Is this normal hibernate way? And how will I know if my insert is successful? Any thoughts?

  • Wrapper Classes for Backward compatibility in Java

    - by Casebash
    There is an interesting article here on maintaing backwards compatibility for Java. In the wrapper class section, I can't actually understand what the wrapper class accomplishes. In the following code from MyApp, WrapNewClass.checkAvailable() could be replaced by Class.forName("NewClass"). static { try { WrapNewClass.checkAvailable(); mNewClassAvailable = true; } catch (Throwable ex) { mNewClassAvailable = false; } } Consider when NewClass is unavailable. In the code where we use the wrapper (see below), all we have done is replace a class that doesn't exist, with one that exists, but which can't be compiled as it uses a class that doesn't exist. public void diddle() { if (mNewClassAvailable) { WrapNewClass.setGlobalDiv(4); WrapNewClass wnc = new WrapNewClass(40); System.out.println("newer API is available - " + wnc.doStuff(10)); }else { System.out.println("newer API not available"); } } Can anyone explain why this makes a difference? I assume it has something to do with how Java compiles code - which I don't know much about.

  • Making a database backup to SDCard on Android

    - by Pentium10
    I am using the below code to write a backup copy to SDCard and I get java.io.IOException: Parent directory of file is not writable: /sdcard/mydbfile.db private class ExportDatabaseFileTask extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Boolean> { private final ProgressDialog dialog = new ProgressDialog(ctx); // can use UI thread here protected void onPreExecute() { this.dialog.setMessage("Exporting database..."); this.dialog.show(); } // automatically done on worker thread (separate from UI thread) protected Boolean doInBackground(final String... args) { File dbFile = new File(Environment.getDataDirectory() + "/data/com.mypkg/databases/mydbfile.db"); File exportDir = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), ""); if (!exportDir.exists()) { exportDir.mkdirs(); } File file = new File(exportDir, dbFile.getName()); try { file.createNewFile(); this.copyFile(dbFile, file); return true; } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("mypck", e.getMessage(), e); return false; } } // can use UI thread here protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success) { if (this.dialog.isShowing()) { this.dialog.dismiss(); } if (success) { Toast.makeText(ctx, "Export successful!", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Toast.makeText(ctx, "Export failed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } void copyFile(File src, File dst) throws IOException { FileChannel inChannel = new FileInputStream(src).getChannel(); FileChannel outChannel = new FileOutputStream(dst).getChannel(); try { inChannel.transferTo(0, inChannel.size(), outChannel); } finally { if (inChannel != null) inChannel.close(); if (outChannel != null) outChannel.close(); } } }

  • SCJP Book, IO section: Is this a typo or is there a reason it would look like this?

    - by iamchuckb
    My question is about line 4, where the new PrintWriter is created with the constructor taking the FileWriter fw as a parameter. I don't understand the use of chaining the BufferedWriter bw to FileWriter if it isn't used later on in the actual writing. Can Java apply chaining in a way that bw still somehow affects the rest of the program? 16. try { 17. FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(test); 18. BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(fw, 1024); 19. PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(fw); 20. out.println("<html><body><h1>"); 21. out.println(args[0]); 22. out.println("</h1></body></html>"); 23. out.close(); 24. bw.close(); 25. fw.close(); 26. }catch(IOException e) { 27. e.printStackTrace(); 28. } I think it is probably a typo and they meant to use bw as the parameter for PrintWriter out but like the title says, I'm new to this. Thanks to all in advance.
