  • Firebug is throwing a ' $( ' error?

    I am getting a strange error in Firebug, that I am not getting in Webkit. The error comes up as ' $( ' in firebug. Here's the code that is supposedly causing it to flip: $.getScript("http://kylehotchkiss.com/min/?g=packageHome", function() { $(".countdown").countdown({ until: new Date(2010, 6 - 1, 5), layout:'{dn} {dl}' }); }); The error isn't specific to the countdown script, it's just giving me an error trying to call any plugin I just loaded in firefox. Any ideas?

    hi i am new to valgrind. I know how to run valgrind on executable files from command line. But how do you run valgrind on server processes like apache/myqld/traffic server etc .. I want to run valgrind on traffic server (http://incubator.apache.org/projects/trafficserver.html) to detect some memory leaks taking place in the plugin I have written.     I'm using the jQuery validation plugin to validate a form, and I'd like to remove the validation and submit the form if a certain link is clicked. I am submitting form with javascript like jQuery('form#listing').submit(), so I must remove the validation rules/function with javascript. The problem is that I can't figure out how to do this. I've tried things like jQuery('form#listing').validate({}); and jQuery('form#listing').validate = null, but with no luck.

  • How to merge jquery autocomplete and fcbkListSelection functionality?

    Initial caveat: I am a newbie to jquery and javascript. I started using the autocomplete jquery plugin recently from bassistance.de. Yesterday, I found the fcbkListSelection plugin (http://www.emposha.com/javascript/fcbklistselection-like-facebook-friends-selector.html) and am using it to include a selector in my application. What I now want to do is to merge the 2 pieces of functionality since there are lots of items in my selector list. To be more specific, I want to put a "Filter by Name" text box above the facebook list selection object in my html. When the user types a few characters into the "Filter by Name" text box, I want the items in the Facebook list selector to only show the items that contain the typed characters -- kind of like what autocomplete does already, but rather than the results showing below the text input box, I want them to dynamically update the facebook list object. Is this possible and relatively straightforward? If so, can somebody please describe how to do it? If not, is there an easier way to approach this? Thanks! OK, to Spencer Ruport's comment, I guess I may have a more specific question already. Below is the current Javascript in my HTML file (angle brackets represent Django tags). #suggest1 and #fcbklist both do their separate pieces, but how do I get them to talk to each other?     As the title says: how can I use the Restful Authentication Plugin with Ruby on Rails. When I want to create a new user, it requires me to set the (wrong-named, confusing field) login (= username), email address and password. However, I want, like Facebook does, to require the user to enter only an email address and password, not a username. People will also login with this email address. Can anyone help me?

Unfortunately, when a link is clicked, the lightbox that is loaded starts at the same scroll position as the previous one. I tried using self.scrollTo(0,0) $.scrollTo(0) $('#top').scrollTo(); and a few others methods to push it back to the top, but none have seemed to work. Any help on this?

    Hi all, i am currently working on a web application that needs to accept video uploaded by users in any format (.avi, .mov, etc.) and convert them to flv for playing in a flash-based player. Since the site is OpenCms-based, the best solution would be a ready-made plugin for OpenCms that allowed to upload and play videos doing the transcode operation in background, but just a set of Java classes to do the transcode would be great and then i could make the uploading form and playback part on my own.
