  • How can I implement a proper counter bean with EJB 3.0?

    - by Aaron Digulla
    I have this entity bean: import javax.persistence.*; @Entity public class CounterTest { private int id; private int counter; @Id public int getId() { return id; } public void setId(int id) { this.id = id; } public int getCounter() { return counter; } public void setCounter(int counter) { this.counter = counter; } } and this stateful bean to increment a counter: import java.rmi.RemoteException; import javax.ejb.*; import javax.persistence.*; @Stateful public class CounterTestBean implements CounterTestRemote { @PersistenceContext(unitName = "JavaEE") EntityManager manager; public void initDB() { CounterTest ct = new CounterTest(); ct.setNr(1); ct.setWert(1); manager.persist(ct); } public boolean testCounterWithLock() { try { CounterTest ct = manager.find(CounterTest.class, 1); manager.lock(ct, LockModeType.WRITE); int wert = ct.getWert(); ct.setWert(wert + 1); manager.flush(); return true; } catch (Throwable t) { return false; } } } When I call testCounterWithLock() from three threads 500 times each, the counter gets incremented between 13 and 1279 times. How do I fix this code so that it is incremented 1500 times?

  • reactor not working when reactor.run is not called in the main thread and installSignalHandlers=Fals

    - by Kalmi
    I'm trying to answer the following question out of personal interest: What is the fastest way to send 100,000 HTTP requests in Python? And this is what I have came up so far, but I'm experiencing something very stange. When installSignalHandlers is True, it just hangs. I can see that the DelayedCall instances are in reactor._newTimedCalls, but processResponse never gets called. When installSignalHandlers is False, it throws an error and works. from twisted.internet import reactor from twisted.web.client import Agent from threading import Semaphore, Thread import time concurrent = 100 s = Semaphore(concurrent) reactor.suggestThreadPoolSize(concurrent) t=Thread( target=reactor.run, kwargs={'installSignalHandlers':True}) t.daemon=True t.start() agent = Agent(reactor) def processResponse(response,url): print response.code, url s.release() def processError(response,url): print "error", url s.release() def addTask(url): req = agent.request('HEAD', url) req.addCallback(processResponse, url) req.addErrback(processError, url) for url in open('urllist.txt'): addTask(url.strip()) s.acquire() while s._Semaphore__value!=concurrent: time.sleep(0.1) reactor.stop() And here is the error that it throws when installSignalHandlers is True: (Note: This is the expected behaviour! The question is why it doesn't work when installSignalHandlers is False.) • Download-from-PyPI-and-install script

    - by zubin71
    Hello, I have written a script which fetches a distribution, given the URL. After downloading the distribution, it compares the md5 hashes to verify that the file has been downloaded properly. This is how I do it. def download(package_name, url): import urllib2 downloader = urllib2.urlopen(url) package = downloader.read() package_file_path = os.path.join('/tmp', package_name) package_file = open(package_file_path, "w") package_file.write(package) package_file.close() I wonder if there is any better(more pythonic) way to do what I have done using the above code snippet. Also, once the package is downloaded this is what is done: def install_package(package_name): if package_name.endswith('.tar'): import tarfile tarfile.open('/tmp/' + package_name) tarfile.extract('/tmp') import shlex import subprocess installation_cmd = 'python %ssetup.py install' %('/tmp/'+package_name) subprocess.Popen(shlex.split(installation_cmd) As there are a number of imports for the install_package method, i wonder if there is a better way to do this. I`d love to have some constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement. Also, I have only implemented the install_package method for .tar files; would there be a better manner by which I could install .tar.gz and .zip files too without having to write seperate methods for each of these?

  • XmlSlurper/NekoHTML document fragment parsing - No HTML or BODY tags wanted

    - by Misha Koshelev
    Dear All, I am trying to parse the following HTML fragment, and I would like to get the same fragment as output (without HTML and BODY tags). Is this possible? If so, how? Thank you Misha p.s. I am reading here: http://nekohtml.sourceforge.net/faq.html#fragments and I believe I have added the correct options below. However, the output is still incorrect :( Thank you Misha import groovy.xml.MarkupBuilder import groovy.xml.StreamingMarkupBuilder import groovy.util.XmlNodePrinter import groovy.util.slurpersupport.NodeChild def text=""" <div><h2>Test</h2> <div>Hi</div> </div> """ // Parse def config=new org.cyberneko.html.HTMLConfiguration() config.setFeature("http://cyberneko.org/html/features/balance-tags/document-fragment",true) def html=new XmlSlurper(new org.cyberneko.html.parsers.SAXParser()).parseText(text) // Output def printNode(NodeChild node) { def writer = new StringWriter() writer << new StreamingMarkupBuilder().bind { mkp.declareNamespace('':node[0].namespaceURI()) mkp.yield node } new XmlNodePrinter().print(new XmlParser().parseText(writer.toString())) } printNode(html) Output: <HTML> <tag0:HEAD xmlns:tag0="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"/> <BODY> <DIV> <H2> Test </H2> <DIV> Hi </DIV> </DIV> </BODY> </HTML>

  • JTree events seem misordered

    - by MeBigFatGuy
    It appears to me that tree selection events should happen after focus events, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Assume you have a JTree and a JTextField, where the JTextField is populated by what is selected in the tree. When the user changes the text field, on focus lost, you update the tree from the text field. however, the tree selection is changed before the focus is lost on the text field. this is incorrect, right? Any ideas? Here is some sample code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.event.*; public class Focus extends JFrame { public static void main(String[] args) { Focus f = new Focus(); f.setLocationRelativeTo(null); f.setVisible(true); } public Focus() { Container cp = getContentPane(); cp.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); final JTextArea ta = new JTextArea(5, 10); cp.add(new JScrollPane(ta), BorderLayout.SOUTH); JSplitPane sp = new JSplitPane(); cp.add(sp, BorderLayout.CENTER); JTree t = new JTree(); t.addTreeSelectionListener(new TreeSelectionListener() { public void valueChanged(TreeSelectionEvent tse) { ta.append("Tree Selection changed\n"); } }); t.addFocusListener(new FocusListener() { public void focusGained(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Tree focus gained\n"); } public void focusLost(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Tree focus lost\n"); } }); sp.setLeftComponent(new JScrollPane(t)); JTextField f = new JTextField(10); sp.setRightComponent(f); pack(); f.addFocusListener(new FocusListener() { public void focusGained(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Text field focus gained\n"); } public void focusLost(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Text field focus lost\n"); } }); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } }

  • Groovlet + Tomcat: "unable to resolve class" when importing libraries

    - by Rob Hruska
    I'm having some trouble running a groovy servlet (groovlet) in tomcat that imports a library class. When I don't import anything the groovlet works correctly, but if I do import something that I expect to be on the classpath (I can import the same class successfully in a regular servlet), I see the following error: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy java.lang.RuntimeException: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy at groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet$1.call(GroovyServlet.java:123) ... Caused by: org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed, /MyGroovlet.groovy: 1: unable to resolve class com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass @ line 1, column 1. The jar containing MyLibraryClass is in shared/lib, which is loaded by tomcat by the following in catalina.properties: shared.loader=...,${catalina.base}/shared/lib/*.jar,... My groovlets are mapped as described in the user guide in my application's web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.groovy</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> And here's the code for the groovlet, MyGroovlet.groovy: import com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass MyLibraryClass.someStaticMethod() My groovlet is deployed to WEB-INF/groovy/MyGroovlet.groovy, per the GroovyServlet API. When I visit http://localhost:8080/myapplication/MyGroovlet.groovy, the error described previously is written to my application logs. Is there some way that I need to explicitly declare the runtime classpath for GroovyServlet? I've tried moving the library jar to several places, including WEB-INF/lib and moving the actual MyLibraryClass.class file to WEB-INF/classes, but with no luck.

  • Perl - How to get the number of elements in an anonymous array, for concisely trimming pathnames

    - by NXT
    Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get a block of code down to one line. I need a way to get the number of items in a list. My code currently looks like this: # Include the lib directory several levels up from this directory my @ary = split('/', $Bin); my @ary = @ary[0 .. $#ary-4]; my $res = join '/',@ary; lib->import($res.'/lib'); That's great but I'd like to make that one line, something like this: lib->import( join('/', ((split('/', $Bin)) [0 .. $#ary-4])) ); But of course the syntax $#ary is meaningless in the above line. Is there equivalent way to get the number of elements in an anonymous list? Thanks! PS: The reason for consolidating this is that it will be in the header of a bunch of perl scripts that are ancillary to the main application, and I want this little incantation to be more cut & paste proof. Thanks everyone There doesn't seem to be a shorthand for the number of elements in an anonymous list. That seems like an oversight. However the suggested alternatives were all good. I'm going with: lib->import(join('/', splice( @{[split('/', $Bin)]}, 0, -4)).'/lib'); But Ether suggested the following, which is much more correct and portable: my $lib = File::Spec->catfile( realpath(File::Spec->catfile($FindBin::Bin, ('..') x 4)), 'lib'); lib->import($lib);

  • Pydev and Django: Shell not finding certain modules?

    - by Rosarch
    I am developing a Django project with PyDev in Eclipse. For a while, PyDev's Django Shell worked great. Now, it doesn't: >>> import sys; print('%s %s' % (sys.executable or sys.platform, sys.version)) C:\Python26\python.exe 2.6.4 (r264:75708, Oct 26 2009, 08:23:19) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] >>> >>> from django.core import management;import mysite.settings as settings;management.setup_environ(settings) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named mysite.settings >>> The dev server runs just fine. What could I be doing wrong? The models module is also conspicuously absent: >>> import mysite.myapp.models Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named mysite.myapp.models On the normal command line, outside of PyDev, the shell works fine. Why could this be happening?

  • flash as3 document class and event listeners

    - by Lee
    I think i have this document class concept entirly wrong now, i was wondering if someone mind explaining it.. I assumed that the above class would be instantiated within the first frame on scene one of a movie. I also assumed that when changing scenes the state of the class would remain constant so any event listeners would still be running.. Scene 1: I have a movieclip named ui_mc, that has a button in for muting sound. Scene 2: I have the same movie clip with the same button. Now the eventListener picks it up in the first scene, however it does not in the second. I am wondering for every scene do the event listeners need to be resetup? If that is the case if their an event listener to listen for the change in scene, so i can set them back up again lol.. Thanks in advance.. package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.media.Sound; import flash.media.SoundChannel; public class game extends MovieClip { public var snd_state:Boolean = true; public function game() { ui_setup(); } public function ui_setup():void { ui_mc.toggleMute_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, snd_toggle); } private function snd_toggle(event:MouseEvent):void { // 0 = No Sound, 1 = Full Sound trace("Toggle"); } } }

  • Pressing back button in ActivityGroup causes it to pause, and then continue shutting down the next t

    - by synic
    Pressing the back button causes onPause to be called, and the app stays paused until it is re-launched by clicking on the icon, at which point, onDestroy gets called, and the main activity continues to shut down. Simple class to demonstrate. Note, as far as I can tell, this only happens on the Nexus One. I can't reproduce it in the emulator or on my Droid. package com.vimtips.testshutdown; import android.app.ActivityGroup; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; import android.view.KeyEvent; public class MainActivity extends ActivityGroup { private static final String TAG = "MainActivity"; private int counter = 3; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); } public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if(keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { if(counter-- > 0) return true; } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } @Override public void onPause() { super.onPause(); Log.d(TAG, "onPause called"); } @Override public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); if(isFinishing()) { Log.d(TAG, "Shutting down"); } } } And here's the log: I/ActivityManager( 132): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10100000 cmp=com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity } I/ActivityManager( 132): Displayed activity com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity: 305 ms (total 305 ms) D/MainActivity( 1393): onPause called I/ActivityManager( 132): Displayed activity com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity: 302 ms (total 302 ms) D/MainActivity( 1393): Shutting down This doesn't appear to happen on a normal Activity, just an Activity group, though looking at Android's sourcecode, I can't figure out why. It's causing some serious problems with my app. Anyone know why this would happen?

  • Having a Python package install itself under a different name

    - by cool-RR
    I'm developing a package called garlicsim. (Website.) The package is intended for Python 2.X, but I am also offerring Python 3 support on a different fork called garlicsim_py3.(1) So both of these packages live side by side on PyPI, and Python 3 users install garlicsim_py3, and Python 2 users install garlicsim. The problem is: When third party modules want to use garlicsim, they should have one package name to refer to, not two. Sure, they can do something like this: try: import garlicsim except ImportError: import garlicsim_py3 as garlicsim But I would prefer not to make the developers of these modules do this. Is there a way that garlicsim_py3 will install itself under the alias garlicsim? What I want is for a Python 3 user to be able to import garlicsim and refer to the module all the time as garlicsim, but that it will really be garlicsim_py3. I know that the Distribute project does something like this: They make it so you can import setuptools and it will be redirected into their code. I have no idea how they do it. Any ideas? (1) I've reached the decision to support Python 3 on a fork instead of in the same code base; It's important for me that the code base will be clean, and I would really not want to introduce compatibilty hacks.

  • How to use URLClassLoader to load a *.class file?

    - by DeletedAccount
    I'm playing around with Reflection and I thought I'd make something which loads a class and prints the names of all fields in the class. I've made a small hello world type of class to have something to inspect: kent@rat:~/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin$ ls IndependentClass.class kent@rat:~/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin$ java IndependentClass Hello! Goodbye! kent@rat:~/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin$ pwd /home/kent/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin kent@rat:~/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin$ Based on the above I draw two conclusions: It exists at /home/kent/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin/IndependentClass.class It works! (So it must be a proper .class-file which can be loaded by a class loader) Then the code which is to use Reflection: (Line which causes an exception is marked) import java.lang.reflect.Field; import java.net.MalformedURLException; import java.net.URL; import java.net.URLClassLoader; public class InspectClass { @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public static void main(String[] args) throws ClassNotFoundException, MalformedURLException { URL classUrl; classUrl = new URL("file:///home/kent/eclipsews/SmallExample/bin/IndependentClass.class"); URL[] classUrls = { classUrl }; URLClassLoader ucl = new URLClassLoader(classUrls); Class c = ucl.loadClass("IndependentClass"); // LINE 14 for(Field f: c.getDeclaredFields()) { System.out.println("Field name" + f.getName()); } } } But when I run it I get: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: IndependentClass at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251) at InspectClass.main(InspectClass.java:14) My questions: What am I doing wrong above? How do I fix it? Is there a way to load several class files and iterate over them?

  • Unable to display Google Map through API in Flex SDK

    - by Spero.ShiroPetto
    Hello, I am using the mxmlc to compile the examples from google to get started in using Google Maps API in Flex 4. But after compiling the swf file the map does not load. I've registered for an API key Downloaded and included the Maps SDK in the xml config file used at compile time C:\sdk\flex4\frameworks\flex-config.xml <external-library-path> <path-element>libs/google/maps/lib/map_flex_1_18.swc</path-element> </external-library-path> Foo.mxml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <maps:Map xmlns:maps="com.google.maps.*" id="map" mapevent_mapready="onMapReady(event)" width="100%" height="100%" key="{KEY}"/> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ import com.google.maps.LatLng; import com.google.maps.Map; import com.google.maps.MapEvent; import com.google.maps.MapType; private function onMapReady(event:Event):void { this.map.setCenter(new LatLng(40.736072,-73.992062), 14, MapType.NORMAL_MAP_TYPE); } ]]> </mx:Script> </mx:Application> Any tips on where to go from here? Then open another file and do a find an replace. I know this should be easy but haven't done so much in python before. Here is what I have so far... masterlist.txt (tab delimited) Name UID Bob-Smith.local bobs Carmen-Jackson.local carmenj David-Kathman.local davidk Jenn-Roberts.local jennr Here is the script that I have created thus far #GET CLIENT HOST NAME import socket host = socket.gethostname() print host #IMPORT MASTER DATA import csv, sys filename = "masterlist.txt" reader = csv.reader(open(filename, "rU")) #PRINT MASTER DATA for row in reader: print row #SEARCH ON HOSTNAME AND RETURN UID #REPLACE VALUE IN FILE WITH UID #import fileinput #for line in fileinput.FileInput("filetoreplace",inplace=1): # line = line.replace("replacethistext","UID") # print line Right now, it's just set to print the master list. I'm not sure if the list needs to be parsed and placed into a dictionary or what. I really need to figure out how to search the first field for the hostname and then return the field in the second column. Thanks in advance for your help, Aaron

  • Syncing data between devel/live databases in Django

    - by T. Stone
    With Django's new multi-db functionality in the development version, I've been trying to work on creating a management command that let's me synchronize the data from the live site down to a developer machine for extended testing. (Having actual data, particularly user-entered data, allows me to test a broader range of inputs.) Right now I've got a "mostly" working command. It can sync "simple" model data but the problem I'm having is that it ignores ManyToMany fields which I don't see any reason for it do so. Anyone have any ideas of either how to fix that or a better want to handle this? Should I be exporting that first query to a fixture first and then re-importing it? from django.core.management.base import LabelCommand from django.db.utils import IntegrityError from django.db import models from django.conf import settings LIVE_DATABASE_KEY = 'live' class Command(LabelCommand): help = ("Synchronizes the data between the local machine and the live server") args = "APP_NAME" label = 'application name' requires_model_validation = False can_import_settings = True def handle_label(self, label, **options): # Make sure we're running the command on a developer machine and that we've got the right settings db_settings = getattr(settings, 'DATABASES', {}) if not LIVE_DATABASE_KEY in db_settings: print 'Could not find "%s" in database settings.' % LIVE_DATABASE_KEY return if db_settings.get('default') == db_settings.get(LIVE_DATABASE_KEY): print 'Data cannot synchronize with self. I have this code that sends an email based on request params after some auth logic. in my Unit tests (i'm using GAEUnit), how do I confirm an email with specific contents were sent? - i.e. how do I mock the emailer with a fake emailer to verify send was called? class EmailHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def bad_input(self): self.response.set_status(400) self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = 'text/plain' self.response.out.write("<html><body>bad input </body></html>") def get(self): to_addr = self.request.get("to") subj = self.request.get("subject") msg = self.request.get("body") if not mail.is_email_valid(to_addr): # Return an error message... # self.bad_input() pass # authenticate here message = mail.EmailMessage() message.sender = "[email protected]" message.to = to_addr message.subject = subj message.body = msg message.send() self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = 'text/plain' self.response.out.write("<html><body>success!</body></html>") And the unit tests, import unittest from webtest import TestApp from google.appengine.ext import webapp from email import EmailHandler class SendingEmails(unittest.TestCase): def setUp(self): self.application = webapp.WSGIApplication([('/', EmailHandler)], debug=True) def test_success(self): app = TestApp(self.application) response = app.get('http://localhost:8080/[email protected]&body=blah_blah_blah&subject=mySubject') self.assertEqual('200 OK', response.status) self.assertTrue('success' in response) # somehow, assert email was sent

  • Where to put a textfile I want to use in eclipse?

    - by Jayomat
    hi there, I need to read a text file when I start my program. I'm using eclipse and started a new java project. In my project folder I got the "src" folder and the standard "JRE System Library"... I just don't know where to put the text file. I cannot use a "hard coded" path because the text file needs to be included with my app... I also tried to create a new folder like "Files" and use the pathe "Files/staedteliste.txt".. doesn't work too... I use the following code to read the file, but I get this error: Error:java.io.FileNotFoundException:staedteliste.txt(No such file or directory) import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.FileReader; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.ArrayList; public class Test { ArrayList<String[]> values; public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub loadList(); } public static void loadList() { BufferedReader reader; String zeile = null; try { reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("staedteliste.txt")); zeile = reader.readLine(); ArrayList<String[]> values = new ArrayList<String[]>(); while (zeile != null) { values.add(zeile.split(";")); zeile = reader.readLine(); } System.out.println(values.size()); System.out.println(zeile); } catch (IOException e) { System.err.println("Error :"+e); } } } thx for help!

  • Flash As3.0 PHP Variables?

    - by user311421
    Is it possible to make php variables public and accessible anywhere on the timeline? The script I included works fine if I set it as the document class only (it won't work if I try importing it). The variables pass the text to dynamic text fields on the main timeline. The problem: It will pull the information and display it when the SWF first loads but if I move to my second frame and then back it erases the information. It also will not pass any variables to the second frame. The only way to see the variables after going back to the first frame is to reload the whole SWF. I'm pretty much stuck at this point trying to make the variables persistent through all frames. this is my code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.*; import flash.display.Stage; public class Main extends MovieClip { public function Main() { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://localhost/mytest2/dataLayer.php"); request.method = URLRequestMethod.GET; var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES; loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler); loader.load(request); function completeHandler(evt:Event) { var username = evt.target.data.username; var pclass = evt.target.data.pclass; var hpoints = evt.target.data.hpoints; var spoints = evt.target.data.spoints; username_txt.text = username; class_txt.text = pclass; hpoints_txt.text = hpoints; spoints_txt.text = spoints; } } } }

  • Python Process won't call atexit

    - by Brian M. Hunt
    I'm trying to use atexit in a Process, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Here's some example code: import time import atexit import logging import multiprocessing logging.basicConfig(level=logging.DEBUG) class W(multiprocessing.Process): def run(self): logging.debug("%s Started" % self.name) @atexit.register def log_terminate(): # ever called? logging.debug("%s Terminated!" % self.name) while True: time.sleep(10) @atexit.register def log_exit(): logging.debug("Main process terminated") logging.debug("Main process started") a = W() b = W() a.start() b.start() time.sleep(1) a.terminate() b.terminate() The output of this code is: DEBUG:root:Main process started DEBUG:root:W-1 Started DEBUG:root:W-2 Started DEBUG:root:Main process terminated I would expect that the W.run.log_terminate() would be called when a.terminate() and b.terminate() are called, and the output to be something likeso (emphasis added)!: DEBUG:root:Main process started DEBUG:root:W-1 Started DEBUG:root:W-2 Started DEBUG:root:W-1 Terminated! DEBUG:root:W-2 Terminated! DEBUG:root:Main process terminated Why isn't this working, and is there a better way to log a message (from the Process context) when a Process is terminated? Thank you for your input - it's much appreciated.

  • Removing PDF attachments via itext

    - by r00fus
    I'm trying to remove attachments from a number of my pdf files (I can extract via pdftk, so preserving them is not an issue). I coded the following based on an example found from a google search: import java.io.FileOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import com.lowagie.text.*; import com.lowagie.text.pdf.*; class pdfremoveattachment { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException, DocumentException { if (args.length < 2) { System.out.println("Usage: java PDFremoveAttachments source.pdf target.pdf"); System.exit(1); } PdfReader sourcePDF = new PdfReader(args[0]); removeAttachments(sourcePDF); FileOutputStream targetFOS = new FileOutputStream(args[1]); PdfStamper targetPDF = new PdfStamper(sourcePDF,targetFOS); targetPDF.close(); } public static void removeAttachments(PdfReader reader) { PdfDictionary catalog = reader.getCatalog(); // System.out.println(catalog.getAsDict(PdfName.NAME)); // this would print "null" PdfDictionary names = (PdfDictionary)PdfReader.getPdfObject(catalog.get(PdfName.NAMES)); // System.out.println(names.toString()); //this returns NPE if( names != null) { PdfDictionary files = (PdfDictionary) PdfReader.getPdfObject(names.get(PdfName.FILEATTACHMENT)); if( files!= null ){ for( Object key : files.getKeys() ){ files.remove((PdfName)key); } files = (PdfDictionary) PdfReader.getPdfObject(names.get(PdfName.EMBEDDEDFILES)); } if( files!= null ){ for( Object key : files.getKeys() ){ files.remove((PdfName)key); } reader.removeUnusedObjects(); } } } } If anyone knows how I might be able to remove attachments, I'd greatly appreciate a reply.

  • Matplotlib PDF export uses wrong font

    - by Konrad Rudolph
    I want to generate high-quality diagrams for a presentation. I’m using Python’s matplotlib to generate the graphics. Unfortunately, the PDF export seems to ignore my font settings. I tried setting the font both by passing a FontProperties object to the text drawing functions and by setting the option globally. For the record, here is a MWE to reproduce the problem: import scipy import matplotlib matplotlib.use('cairo') import matplotlib.pylab as pylab import matplotlib.font_manager as fm data = scipy.arange(5) for font in ['Helvetica', 'Gill Sans']: fig = pylab.figure() ax = fig.add_subplot(111) ax.bar(data, data) ax.set_xticks(data) ax.set_xticklabels(data, fontproperties = fm.FontProperties(family = font)) pylab.savefig('foo-%s.pdf' % font) In both cases, the produced output is identical and uses Helvetica (and yes, I do have both fonts installed). Just to be sure, the following doesn’t help either: matplotlib.rc('font', family = 'Gill Sans') Finally, if I replace the backend, instead using the native viewer: matplotlib.use('MacOSX') I do get the correct font displayed – but only in the viewer GUI. The PDF output is once again wrong. To be sure – I can set other fonts – but only other classes of font families: I can set serif fonts or fantasy or monospace. But all sans-serif fonts seem to default to Helvetica.

  • PyQt Drag and Drop - Nothing happens

    - by Umang
    Hi, I'm trying to get drop a file onto a Window (I've tried the same thing with a QListWidget without success there too) test.py: #! /usr/bin/python # Test from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui import sys from qt_test import Ui_MainWindow class MyForm(QtGui.QMainWindow, Ui_MainWindow): def __init__(self, parent=None): QtGui.QWidget.__init__(self, parent) self.setupUi(self) self.__class__.dragEnterEvent = self.DragEnterEvent self.__class__.dragMoveEvent = self.DragEnterEvent self.__class__.dropEvent = self.drop self.setAcceptDrops(True) print "Initialized" self.show() def DragEnterEvent(self, event): event.accept() def drop(self, event): link=event.mimeData().text() print link def main(): app = QtGui.QApplication(sys.argv) mw = MyForm() sys.exit(app.exec_()) if __name__== "__main__": main() And here's qt_test.py # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- # Form implementation generated from reading ui file 'untitled.ui' # # Created: Thu May 20 12:23:19 2010 # by: PyQt4 UI code generator 4.6 # # WARNING! I still don't get any output except "Initialized" and the drag doesn't seem to get accepted (both for files from a file manager and plain text dragged from a text editor). Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
