• Creating custom model using other models in ASP.NET MVC

  As the title suggests I have two models Products And Orders which are actually two table in my database and I have used a LINQ to SQL class to create there models. Now I wan to create a model named "OrderDetails" which will have properties from both the model like product name and id from product and Order number from orders something like this. An then I want to create a view from this custom model and from which I want to add "CRUD" operation. What should be my approach. And in many scenarios I may have to use data from more than 4 models. Please help. I'm wondering helplessly and I have only two days experience in ASP.NET MVC.

• can I debug my web proejct and wcf project on same vs 2008 instance ?

  I have two projects in my solution 1- asp.net web project. 2- wcf serivce project. 3- other common projects between two listed above Currently on the local dev machine I have to run two visual studio instance to run both projects in debug mode. That makes the system run out of resources as these projects share some other project in the soultion which are heavy in files. Is there a way I can hookup the wcf project on a sinlge visual stodio instance that I am using to debug the asp.net web applicaiton. I do not want to combine the web and wcf project in to one. Have already considred this option. thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance.

The problem is that main script must not wait for external PHP script to finish. Result of external script is important, so exec('php -f file.php &') is not an option.

• How should we serve files in a small bioinformatics cluster?

  We have a small cluster of six ubuntu servers. We run bioinformatics analyses on these clusters. Each analysis takes about 24 hours to complete, each core i7 server can handle 2 at a time, takes as input about 5GB data and outputs about 10-25GB of data. We run dozens of these a week. The software is a hodgepodge of custom perl scripts and 3rd party sequence alignment software written in C/C++. Currently, files are served from two of the compute nodes (yes, we're using compute nodes as file servers)-- each node has 5 1TB sata drives mounted separately (no raid) and is pooled via glusterfs 2.0.1. They each have as 3 bonded intel ethernet pci gigabit ethernet cards, attached to a d-link DGS-1224T switch ($300 24 port consumer-level). We are not currently using jumbo frames (not sure why, actually). The two file-serving compute nodes are then mirrored via glusterfs. Each of the four other nodes mounts the files via glusterfs. The files are all large (4gb+), and are stored as bare files (no database/etc) if that matters. As you can imagine, this is a bit of a mess that grew organically without forethought and we want to improve it now that we're running out of space. Our analyses are I/O intensive and it is a bottle neck-- we're only getting 140mB/sec between the two fileservers, maybe 50mb/sec from the clients (which only have single NICs). We have a flexible budget which I can probably get up $5k or so. How should we spend our budget? We need at least 10TB of storage fast enough to serve all nodes. How fast/big does the cpu/memory of such a file server have to be? Should we use NFS, ATA over Ethernet, iSCSI, Glusterfs, or something else? Should we buy two or more servers and create some sort of storage cluster, or is 1 server enough for such a small number of nodes? Should we invest in faster NICs (say, PCI-express cards with multiple connectors)? The switch? Should we use raid, if so, hardware or software? and which raid (5, 6, 10, etc)? Any ideas appreciated. We're biologists, not IT gurus.

• Multiple wifi cards and Internet connections on Win-7

I connect to the Internet with both of them but one does all of the internet transactions (and I have not seen any place where I can specify which one I would prefer to use!) • Potential issue when using memcache session save handler in PHP

  I have two load balanced web servers, and I'm using the memcache session save handler with the save path pointing to two memcache servers. It's configured with session redundancy set to two (the number of memcache servers). So PHP is writing session data to both memcache servers, and when I take one of the servers down, everything seems to work fine since the session data has been written to both memcache servers. The problem seems to happen when I use the app for a while with only the one memcache server up, and then bring the other one back up. My theory is that the memcache server comes back up, and PHP then starts asking it for session data which isn't there since it was written to the other server while this one was down. Is there any merit to this theory? Should PHP be asking both servers for the session data and maybe there's some other problem?

• Is there a fast concat method for linked list in Java?

  How can I concat two linked lists in O(1) with Java via jdk, google or apache commons collection or whatever? E.g. in jdk there is only the addAll method which is O(n). Another feature I miss is to concat two lists where each of them could be in inverse order. To illustrate this assume two lists a-b-c and e-f-g could merged into a-b-c-e-f-g a-b-c-g-f-e c-b-a-e-f-g c-b-a-g-f-e Do you know of such a list implemenation or do I have to implement my own linked list? It would be also helpful to know how to tweak existing solutions (e.g. the jdk LinkedList has a lot of private methods only). These features seems to me very obvious, hopefully I am not missing something stupid.

• Why tinymce in django admin outputs html tags?

  I have two apps using the same tinymce textarea configurations. However, while an input in an app does output the text properly, same input in another app does not output the text properly -it outputs the <p> <li> tags etc... I have exactly same django source codes for these two different apps. As I mentioned above, two apps using the same tinymce textarea. How come this could happen? Thanks.

  Hello, I am writting program for my iphone and have a qestion. lets say i have class named my_obj class my_obj { NSString *name; NSinteger *id; NSinteger *foo; NSString *boo; } now i allocate 100 objects from type my_obj and insert them to array from type NSArray. then i want to sort the Array in two different ways. one by the name and the second by the id. i want to allocate another two arrays from type NSArray *arraySortByName *arraySortById what i need to do if i just want the sorted arrays to be referenced to the original array so i will get two sorted arrays that point to the original array (that didnt changed!) i other word i dont want to allocate another 100 objects to each sorted array.

Now, as such I have three different files - one C shell script and 2 .c files. I need to give this script to other users. The problem is that I have to distribute three files - which the users must keep in the same folder and then execute the script. Is there some better way to do this? [I know I can make one C code file out of those two... but I will still be left with a shell script and a C code. Actually, the two C codes do entirely different things... so I want them to be separate]

  I am customizing the insert SQL generated by hibernate and have hit an issue. When Hibernate generates the query by itself, it inserts data into the first two columns of the table, but this causes a database error since all four columns of the table are non-nullable. For the insert to be performed properly, it must insert the same data into two columns of the new record. This means that I need Hibernate to bind the same data to two different parameters in the query (prepared statement) that I am writing. Is there some SQL syntax that allows me to refer to anonymous parameters bound to a prepared statement in an order different from which they are bound? • Configure multiple keystores in JBoss depending on requested hostname

  Hello, I have my J2EE application deployed into a JBossAS. My Application has to respond to two different hostnames (https://foo.com/myApp and https://bar.com/myApp). It is the same instance of the app serving those two hostnames. But I don't know how to configure the keystores. I need different keystores for each hostname. Is there a way to tie a virtual host in JBoss' server.xml to a specific connector? Or do I have to use two different IP-addresses and create a connector for each? A solution that does not require a second IP-address would be greatly appreciated.

  I've been googling around, and I can't find the answer I'm looking for. Say I have a file, text1.txt, in directory mydir whose contents are: one two and another called text2.txt, also in mydir, whose contents are: two three four I'm trying to get a list of files (for a given directory) which contain all (not any) patterns I search for. In the example I provided, I'm looking for output somewhere along the lines of: ./text1.txt or ./text1.txt:one ./text1.txt:two The only things I've been able to find are concerning matching any patterns in a file, or matching multiple patterns in a single file (which I tried extending to a whole directory, but received grep usage errors).   I have two 1TB single-partition hard disks configured as RAID1, of which I would like to make an off-site backup on a third disk, which I am still to buy. The idea is to store the backup at a relative's house, considerably far away from my place, in the hope that all the information will be safe in the case of a global thermonuclear apocalypse. Of course, this backup would be well encrypted. What I still have to decide is whether I am going to simply tar the entire partition or, instead, use dd to create an image of the disks. Is there any non-trivial difference between these two approaches that I could be overlooking? This off-site backup would be updated no more than two or three times a year, in the best of the cases, so performance should not be a factor to be pondered at all. What, and why, would you use if you were me? dd, tar, or a third option?
