  • Close TCP port 80 and 443 after forking in Django

    - by audiodev
I am trying to fork() and exec() a new python script process from within a Django app that is running in apache2/WSGI Python. The new python process is daemonized so that it doesn't hold any association to apache2, but I know the HTTP ports are still open. The new process kills apache2, but as a result the new python process now holds port 80 and 443 open, and I don't want this. How do I close port 80 and 443 from within the new python process? Is there a way to gain access to the socket handle descriptors so they can be closed?

  • Forwarding 80 to 443 on Nagios woes

    - by Ethabelle
I perhaps just need some extra insight because I don't see where I'm going wrong. I used an SSL Cert to secure our nagios server. We want to specifically require all traffic over nagios (like 2 users, lol) to use SSL. So I thought, oh, mod_rewrite + Rewrite Rule in .htaccess, right? So I went into the DocumentRoot and did a vi .htaccess (one didn't already exist) and then I put in the following rule; RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80 RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://our.server.org/$1 [R,L] This does absolutely nothing. Does nada. Whhhyy.. Note: AllowOverride all in httpd.conf is on. Also, I verified that the module is not uncommented out ... but note, I couldn't find the mod_rewrite module installed so I copied it over from another server and placed it in modules/mod_rewrite.so . It was weird because it was enabled in the httpd.conf file, but then didn't exist in modules ... I'm a baddie :(

  • Enabling SSL on apache2 causes address already in use error

    - by durron597
My server works just fine on a normal apache2 install. Now, I'm trying to install subversion on this server using this guide: http://alephzarro.com/blog/2007/01/07/installation-of-subversion-on-ubuntu-with-apache-ssl-and-basicauth/ I get the following error: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443 When I do grep -rH 443 /etc/apache2/, I get results in two files: ports.conf and sites-enabled/default-ssl I tried it both with and without that last Listen 443 commented out, here's ports.conf: NameVirtualHost *:80 Listen 80 <IfModule mod_ssl.c> NameVirtualHost *:443 Listen 443 </IfModule> <IfModule mod_gnutls.c> Listen 443 </IfModule> #Listen 443 And the first few lines of default-ssl <IfModule mod_ssl.c> <VirtualHost *:443> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /this/isnt/relevant/probably.pem SSLProtocol all SSLCipherSuite HIGH:MEDIUM And netstat -an --inet | grep 443 returns nothing. Any ideas?

  • How to run VisualSvn Server on port 443 running IIS on same server?

    - by Metro Smurf
Server 2008 R2 SP1 VisualSvn Server 2.1.6 The IIS server has about 10 sites. One of them uses https over port 443 with the following bindings: http x.x.x.39:80 site.com http x.x.x.39:80 www.site.com https x.x.x.39:443 VisualSvn Server Properties server name: svn.SomeSite.com server port: 443 Server Binding: x.x.x.40 No sites on IIS are listening to x.x.x.40. When starting up VisualSvn server, the following errors are thrown: make_sock: could not bind to address x.x.x.40:443 (OS 10013) An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. no listening sockets available, shutting down When I stop Site.com on IIS, then VisualSvn Server starts up without a problem. When I bind VisualSvn server to port 8443 and start Site.com, then VisualSvn Server starts without a problem. My goal is to be able to access the VisualSvn Server with a normal url, i.e., one that does't use a port number in the address: https://svn.site.com vs https://svn.site.com:8443 What needs to be configured to allow VisualSvn Server to run on port 443 with IIS running on the same server?

  • Local SSL connections are causing redirect loop (after Ubuntu update)

Edit / Answer The answer provided by Ivan did point me in the right direction. For anyone else running into this, here is a bit more information. Even though my IIS had no bindings set to the IP address I am using for VisualSvn, IIS will still take the IP address hostage unless IIS is explicitly told which IP addresses to listen to. There is no GUI in Win Server 2k8 to configure the IP addresses for IIS to listen; by default, IIS listens to all IP addresses assigned to the server. The following will help configure IIS to only listen to the IP addresses you want: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: show iplisten -- this will show a table of the IP addresses IIS is listening to. By default, the table will be empty (I guess this means IIS listens to all IP's) For each IP address IIS should listen to, enter: add iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x enter: show iplisten -- you should now see all the IP addresses added to the listening table. Exit and then reset IIS. Each of these commands can also be run directly, i.e., netsh http show iplisten If you need to delete an IP address from the listening table: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: delete iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x Exit and then reset IIS.

  • Re-using port 443 for another service - is it possible?

    - by Donald Matheson
The ultimate goal is to allow a remote data connection service to operate on port 443 on a the SQL server. The application accessing the connection is behind a firewall and it is because of the client's reluctance to open another port that I have been asked to try and get this working. The current environment is Windows 2003 R2 (SP2) and SQL Server 2005. IIS is not installed, but when I try and install the third party connection software (SequeLink) it won't as it reports something is still configured on/using port 443. Netstat does not show anything listening on the port and I've tried editing the system32\drivers\etc\services file removing any reference to port 443 and also using sc delete to delete the HTTP and HTTPFilter (HTTP SSL in services console) services to see if this would help. Rebooting after each change. What could still be using the port? Is what I'm trying even possible (I have my doubts but have to investigate every avenue)? Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why is the System process listening on Port 443?

    - by ClearsTheScreen
I am having problems starting my apache server, because port 443 is already in use. It turns out, the system process (PID 4) uses the port 443. I don't have IIS installed, the services.msc shows (predicatbly) no Exchange server running, nor WWW-Services, nor IIS. I have no idea how to find out what service uses that port short of just disabling each service one after the other, and I am not even sure that would help. I would be grateful if someone could point me towards how I can get my SSL port back, thank you :) P.S.: Of course "just switch apache to another port for SSL" would solve the problem of not being able to start apache. But I'd still like to know what is so insistent about hogging port 443. :)

It turned out that the "Routing and RAS" service was the culprit. Thank you all for the valuable input and the new tools in the combat against "WTF does my system do now".

  • How to setup multiple Apache SSL sites using multiple IP addresses

    - by Jeff
How do you setup a single Apache2 config to host multiple HTTPS sites each on their own IP address? There will also be multiple HTTP sites on just a single IP address. I do not want to use Server Name Indication (SNI) as described here, and I'm only concerned with the important top-level Apache directives. That is, I just need to know the skeleton of how my config should look. The basic setup looks like this: Hosted on 1.1.1.1:80 (HTTP) - example.com - example.net - example.org Hosted on 2.2.2.2:443 (HTTPS) - secure.com Hosted on 3.3.3.3:443 (HTTPS) - secure.net Hosted on 4.4.4.4:443 (HTTPS) - secure.org And here are the important config directives I have so far, which is the closest I've come to a working iteration, but still no dice. I know I'm close, just need a little push in the right direction. Listen 1.1.1.1:80 Listen 2.2.2.2:443 Listen 3.3.3.3:443 Listen 4.4.4.4:443 NameVirtualHost 1.1.1.1:80 NameVirtualHost 2.2.2.2:443 NameVirtualHost 3.3.3.3:443 NameVirtualHost 4.4.4.4:443 # HTTP VIRTUAL HOSTS: <VirtualHost 1.1.1.1:80> ServerName example.com DocumentRoot /home/foo/example.com </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 1.1.1.1:80> ServerName example.net DocumentRoot /home/foo/example.net </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 1.1.1.1:80> ServerName example.org DocumentRoot /home/foo/example.org </VirtualHost> # HTTPS VIRTUAL HOSTS: <VirtualHost 2.2.2.2:443> ServerName secure.com DocumentRoot /home/foo/secure.com SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.com.key SSLCACertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/ca.txt </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 3.3.3.3:443> ServerName secure.net DocumentRoot /home/foo/secure.net SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.net.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.net.key SSLCACertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/ca.txt </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 4.4.4.4:443> ServerName secure.org DocumentRoot /home/foo/secure.org SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.org.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /home/foo/ssl/secure.org.key SSLCACertificateFile /home/foo/ssl/ca.txt </VirtualHost> For what it's worth, I prefer to have each of my SSL sites on their own IP instead of including one of them on the primary VHOST IP. Any links which show a standard setup would be more than welcome!

  • SSL / HTTP / No Response to Curl

    - by Alex McHale
I am trying to send commands to a SOAP service, and getting nothing in reply. The SOAP service is at a completely separate site from either server I am testing with. I have written a dummy script with the SOAP XML embedded. When I run it at my local site, on any of three machines -- OSX, Ubuntu, or CentOS 5.3 -- it completes successfully with a good response. I then sent the script to our public host at Slicehost, where I fail to get the response back from the SOAP service. It accepts the TCP socket and proceeds with the SSL handshake. I do not however receive any valid HTTP response. This is the case whether I use my script or curl on the command line. I have rewritten the script using SOAP4R, Net::HTTP and Curb. All of which work at my local site, none of which work at the Slicehost site. I have tried to assemble the CentOS box as closely to match my Slicehost server as possible. I rebuilt the Slice to be a stock CentOS 5.3 and stock CentOS 5.4 with the same results. When I look at a tcpdump of the bad sessions on Slicehost, I see my script or curl send the XML to the remote server, and nothing comes back. When I look at the tcpdump at my local site, I see the response just fine. I have entirely disabled iptables on the Slice. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing these results? Please let me know what additional information I can furnish. Thank you! Below is a wire trace of a sample session. • apache name virtual host - two domains and SSL

    - by Tom
    I'm trying to setup Apache(2.2.3) to run two websites with SSL using both different domains and IP addresses. Both websites run fine on port 80 but when I tried to enable SSL for website2 I get a ssl_error_bad_cert_domain error; website2 picks up the SSL cert for website1. Here is my setup in httpd.conf: # Website1 NameVirtualHost 192.168.10.1:80 <VirtualHost 192.168.10.1:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html ServerName www.website1.org </VirtualHost> NameVirtualHost 192.168.10.1:443 <VirtualHost 192.168.10.1:443> SSLEngine On SSLCertificateFile conf/ssl/website1.cer SSLCertificateKeyFile conf/ssl/website1.key </VirtualHost> # Website2 NameVirtualHost 192.168.10.2:80 <VirtualHost 192.168.10.2:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/chart ServerName www.website2.org </VirtualHost> NameVirtualHost 192.168.10.2:443 <VirtualHost 192.168.10.2:443> SSLEngine On SSLCertificateFile conf/ssl/website2.cer SSLCertificateKeyFile conf/ssl/website2.key </VirtualHost> Update: In answer to Shane (this wouldn't fit in comment box) here is the output from apachectl -S: VirtualHost configuration: 192.168.10.2:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server www.website2.org (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1033) port 80 namevhost www.website2.org (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1033) 192.168.10.2:443 is a NameVirtualHost default server bogus_host_without_reverse_dns (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1040) port 443 namevhost bogus_host_without_reverse_dns (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1040) 192.168.10.1:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server www.website1.org (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1017) port 80 namevhost www.website1.org (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1017) 192.168.10.1:443 is a NameVirtualHost default server bogus_host_without_reverse_dns (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1024) port 443 namevhost bogus_host_without_reverse_dns (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1024) wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: _default_:443 192.168.10.1 (/etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf:81) Syntax OK

  • IE Mixed Content Warining when using https URLs and http:443 URLs?

    - by Campbeln
I'm getting the good ole' "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items." dialog in IE when connecting to an HTTPS site. No big deal... I've just got something coming in over a non-secure connection so that should be an easy fix, right? So I go into "View Web Page Privacy Policy..." to look to see where I've included an HTTP file, and this is what I see... https://blah/path/to/file.htm https://blah/path/to/file.js http://blah:443/path/to/file.css Um... ok... so... there is an HTTP only URL being requested, but it is going over port 443 ("https://blah/" is shorthand for "http://blah:443/") so... What is the deal with this!? IE 7.0.5730.13 can't possibly be THAT stupid, can it? Is there an IIS setting that needs to be tweaked?

  • When I remove the SSL port 443 from IIS my website stops loading, how can I have it just work with only port 80 and no SSL?

    - by shogun
I am trying to disable SSL, I delete the 443 port so there is only an entry for port 80 and now the site won't load at all. If I re-add the 443 configuration it loads fine. What is causing it to require that? Why can't I set it up to run without SSL? Instead of just failing it should just load the page without HTTPS. If I disable port 443 and then I browse via HTTP, it STILL fails even though I am not trying to use HTTPS. What gives? When/where/how does it decide to use SSL?

  • Can't start httpd 2.4.9 with self-signed SSL certificate

    - by Smollet
I cannot start the httpd 2.4.9 (tried 2.4.x too) on CentOS 6.5 with the simplest SSL config possible. The openssl version installed on the machine is OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013 (I've upgraded it using 'yum update' to the latest patched version as well) I have compiled and installed the httpd 2.4.9 using the following commands: ./configure --enable-ssl --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl/ --enable-proxy=shared --enable-proxy_wstunnel=shared --with-apr=apr-1.5.1/ --with-apr-util=apr-util-1.5.3/ make make install Now I'm generating the default self-signed certificate as described in the CentOS HowTo: openssl genrsa -out ca.key 2048 openssl req -new -key ca.key -out ca.csr openssl x509 -req -days 365 -in ca.csr -signkey ca.key -out ca.crt cp ca.crt /etc/pki/tls/certs cp ca.key /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key cp ca.csr /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.csr Here is my httpd-ssl.conf file: Listen 443 SSLCipherSuite HIGH:MEDIUM:!aNULL:!MD5 SSLPassPhraseDialog builtin SSLSessionCache "shmcb:/usr/local/apache2/logs/ssl_scache(512000)" SSLSessionCacheTimeout 300 <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key <FilesMatch "\.(cgi|shtml|phtml|php)$"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </FilesMatch> <Directory "/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </Directory> BrowserMatch "MSIE [2-5]" \ nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \ downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 CustomLog "/usr/local/apache2/logs/ssl_request_log" \ "%t %h %{SSL_PROTOCOL}x %{SSL_CIPHER}x \"%r\" %b" </VirtualHost> when I start httpd using bin/apachectl -k start I get following errors in the error_log: Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995654 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01887: Init: Initializing (virtual) servers for SSL [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995726 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01914: Configuring server 192.168.9.128:443 for SSL protocol [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995863 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_engine_init.c(312): AH01893: Configuring TLS extension handling [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996111 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_util_ssl.c(343): AH02412: [192.168.9.128:443] Cert matches for name '192.168.9.128' [subject: CN=192.168.9.128,OU=XXX,O=XXXX,L=XXXX,ST=NRW,C=DE / issuer: CN=192.168.9.128,OU=XXX,O=XXXX,L=XXXX,ST=NRW,C=DE / serial: AF04AF31799B7695 / notbefore: Jun 3 22:26:45 2014 GMT / notafter: Jun 3 22:26:45 2015 GMT] [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996122 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH02568: Certificate and private key 192.168.9.128:443:0 configured from /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca.crt and /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996209 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01914: Configuring server 192.168.9.128:443 for SSL protocol [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996280 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_engine_init.c(312): AH01893: Configuring TLS extension handling [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996295 2014] [ssl:emerg] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH02572: Failed to configure at least one certificate and key for 192.168.9.128:443 [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996303 2014] [ssl:emerg] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] SSL Library Error: error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line (Expecting: DH PARAMETERS) -- Bad file contents or format - or even just a forgotten SSLCertificateKeyFile? I have also tried to create a short chain of certificates and set the root CA certificate using SSLCertificateChainFile directive. That didn't help either, I get exact same errors as above. I'm not interested in setting up hardened security, etc. The only thing I need is to start httpd with the simplest SSL config possible to continue testing proxy config for the mod_proxy_wstunnel Had anybody encountered and solved this issue? Is my sequence for creating a self-signed certificate incorrect? I'd appreciate any help very much!

My apache2 web-server starts twice and wont bind, so i have to do this: sudo netstat -nap | grep 0.0.0.0:443 sudo kill -9 1243 sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart Is there any way i can make a script out of the code above so that i can run automatically on start up? I have Ubuntu 10.04, this happened after an update. UPDATE: ports.conf - Could this be cause it: <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl # to <VirtualHost *:443> # Server Name Indication for SSL named virtual hosts is currently not # supported by MSIE on Windows XP. SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/private/abc.fr.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/ssl/private/abc.fr.key SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/ssl/private/gd_bundle_fr.crt </VirtualHost> First ssl certificate for abc.be is working fine, but 2nd domian abc.fr still load first ssl. following the output of apachictl -s VirtualHost configuration: wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: *:443 is a NameVirtualHost default server www.abc.be (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1071) port 443 namevhost www.abc.fr (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:1071) Thanks

  • Cisco 881 losing NAT NVI translation config after reload

    - by MasterRoot24
This is a weird one, so I'll try to explain in as much detail as I can so I'm giving the whole picture. As I've mentioned in my other questions, I'm in the process of setting up a new Cisco 881 as my WAN router and NAT firewall. I'm facing an issue where NAT NVI rules that I have configured are not enabled after a reload of the router, regardless of the fact that they are present in the startup-config. In order to clarify this a little, here's the relevant section of my current running-config: Router1#show running-config | include nat source ip nat source list 1 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source list 2 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 1723 interface FastEthernet4 1723 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 80 interface FastEthernet4 80 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 443 interface FastEthernet4 443 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 25 interface FastEthernet4 25 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 587 interface FastEthernet4 587 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 143 interface FastEthernet4 143 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 993 interface FastEthernet4 993 ...and here's the mappings 'in action': Router1#show ip nat nvi translations | include --- tcp <WAN IP>:25 192.168.1.x:25 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:80 192.168.1.x:80 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:143 192.168.1.x:143 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:443 192.168.1.x:443 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:587 192.168.1.x:587 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:993 192.168.1.x:993 --- --- tcp <WAN IP>:1723 192.168.1.x:1723 --- --- ...and here's proof that the mappings are saved to startup-config: Router1#show startup-config | include nat source ip nat source list 1 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source list 2 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 1723 interface FastEthernet4 1723 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 80 interface FastEthernet4 80 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 443 interface FastEthernet4 443 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 25 interface FastEthernet4 25 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 587 interface FastEthernet4 587 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 143 interface FastEthernet4 143 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.x 993 interface FastEthernet4 993 However, look what happens after a reload of the router: Router1#reload Proceed with reload? [confirm]Connection to router closed by remote host. Connection to router closed. $ ssh joe@router Password: Authorized Access only Router1>en Password: Router1#show ip nat nvi translations | include --- Router1# Router1#show ip nat translations | include --- tcp 188.222.181.173:25 192.168.1.2:25 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:80 192.168.1.2:80 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:143 192.168.1.2:143 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:443 192.168.1.2:443 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:587 192.168.1.2:587 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:993 192.168.1.2:993 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:1723 192.168.1.2:1723 --- --- Router1# Here's proof that the running config should have the mappings setup as NVI: Router1#show running-config | include nat source ip nat source list 1 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source list 2 interface FastEthernet4 overload ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 1723 interface FastEthernet4 1723 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 80 interface FastEthernet4 80 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 443 interface FastEthernet4 443 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 25 interface FastEthernet4 25 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 587 interface FastEthernet4 587 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 143 interface FastEthernet4 143 ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 993 interface FastEthernet4 993 At this point, the mappings are not working (inbound connections from WAN on the HTTP/IMAP fail). I presume that this is because my interfaces are using ip nat enable for use with NVI mappings, instead of ip nat inside/outside. So, I re-apply the mappings: Router1#configure ter Router1#configure terminal Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 1723 interface FastEthernet4 1723 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 80 interface FastEthernet4 80 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 443 interface FastEthernet4 443 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 25 interface FastEthernet4 25 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 587 interface FastEthernet4 587 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 143 interface FastEthernet4 143 Router1(config)#ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.2 993 interface FastEthernet4 993 Router1(config)#end ... then they show up correctly: Router1#show ip nat nvi translations | include --- tcp 188.222.181.173:25 192.168.1.2:25 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:80 192.168.1.2:80 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:143 192.168.1.2:143 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:443 192.168.1.2:443 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:587 192.168.1.2:587 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:993 192.168.1.2:993 --- --- tcp 188.222.181.173:1723 192.168.1.2:1723 --- --- Router1# Router1#show ip nat translations | include --- Router1# ... furthermore, now from both WAN and LAN, the services mapped above now work until the next reload. All of the above is required every time I have to reload the router (which is all too often at the moment :-( ). Here's my full current config: ! ! • Using a nat rule to translate 80/443 traffic to web server, but internal users cannot access it using external ip/domain name

    - by Josh
I am using Cisco ASDM for ASA I have my internal network called soa. My outside interface is called outside. Let's say my outside IP given to me by my ISP isp is y.y.y.y I have a web server inside my network with a static ip of x.x.x.110. I have configured 2 static nat rules (one for http the other for https). Source is x.x.x.110. Interface is outside, service (http or https). Maybe I am doing this wrong, but when I run the packet tracer, I choose outside interface and for the source IP I used 8.8.8.8 and the destination ip is my outside IP address, y.y.y.y When I run that, it shows the packet traversing successfully, using 9 steps. For my other test, I switch to the soa interface, input an ip on that network, and leave the destination the same. This test comes up with 2 steps and then fails on my access list. When I see the rule that fails, it is my catch all which is source: any desitnation: any, service: ip action: deny. What rule do I need to make to allow my soa network access to go out and come back in by my external IP addess (using a domain name attached to that ip in my dns, of course)?

  • Exchange 2010 Deployment Notes - ISA 2004 Server Issue

    - by BWCA
An interesting ISA 2004 tidbit … While we were setting up our Exchange 2010 ActiveSync environment, we encountered a problem where we could not successfully telnet over port 443 from one of our ISA 2004 Servers to our Exchange 2010 Client Access Server Array. When we tried to telnet over port 443 from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array name, we would get a “Could not open connection to the host on port 443: Connect failed” error message. Also, when we used portqry over port 443 from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array name, we would get a “Error opening socket: 10065” and “No route to host” error messages. It was odd because we did not have any problems with using ping or tracert from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array and our firewall firewall policy was allowing 443 traffic to pass through. After some troubleshooting, we were able to telnet and use portqry over port 443 successfully if we stopped the Microsoft Firewall service on the ISA 2004 Server.  So, it was strictly a problem with ISA.  Eventually, we were able to isolate the problem to a ISA 2004 Server System Policy setting as shown below (to modify the System Policy, right-click Firewall Policy and click Edit System Policy). Under the Diagnostics Services – HTTP Connectivity verifiers Configuration Group, you need to enable the configuration group under the General tab to resolve the problem.  After we enabled the setting, we no longer had a problem.

  • How Do I Enable My Ubuntu Server To Host Various SSL-Enabled Websites?

    - by Andy Ibanez
Actually, I Have looked around for a few hours now, but I can't get this to work. The main problem I'm having is that only one out of two sites works. I have my website which will mostly be used for an app. It's called atajosapp.com . atajosapp.com will have three main sites: www.atajosapp.com <- Homepage for the app. auth.atajosapp.com <- Login endpoint for my API (needs SSL) api.atajosapp.com <- Main endpoint for my API (needs SSL). If you attempt to access api.atajosapp.com it works. It will throw you a 403 error and a JSON output, but that's fully intentional. If you try to access auth.atajosapp.com however, the site simply doesn't load. Chrome complains with: The webpage at https://auth.atajosapp.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error code: ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED But the website IS there. If you try to access www.atajosapp.com or any other HTTP site, it connects fine. It just doesn't like dealing with more than one HTTPS websites, it seems. The VirtualHost for api.atajosapp.com looks like this: <VirtualHost *:443> DocumentRoot /var/www/api.atajosapp.com ServerName api.atajosapp.com SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /certificates/STAR_atajosapp_com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /certificates/star_atajosapp_com.key SSLCertificateChainFile /certificates/PositiveSSLCA2.crt </VirtualHost> auth.atajosapp.com Looks very similar: <VirtualHost *:443> DocumentRoot /var/www/auth.atajosapp.com ServerName auth.atajosapp.com SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /certificates/STAR_atajosapp_com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /certificates/star_atajosapp_com.key SSLCertificateChainFile /certificates/PositiveSSLCA2.crt </VirtualHost> Now I have found many websites that talk about possible solutions. At first, I was getting a message like this: _default_ VirtualHost overlap on port 443, the first has precedence But after googling for hours, I managed to solve it by editing both apache2.conf and ports.conf. This is the last thing I added to ports.conf: <IfModule mod_ssl.c> NameVirtualHost *:443 # SSL name based virtual hosts are not yet supported, therefore no # NameVirtualHost statement here NameVirtualHost *:443 Listen 443 </IfModule> Still, right now only api.atajosapp.com and www.atajosapp.com are working. I still can't access auth.atajosapp.com. When I check the error log, I see this: Init: Name-based SSL virtual hosts only work for clients with TLS server name indication support (RFC 4366) I don't know what else to do to make both sites work fine on this. I purchased a Wildcard SSL certificate from Comodo that supposedly secures *.atajosapp.com, so after hours trying and googling, I don't know what's wrong anymore. Any help will be really appreciated. EDIT: I just ran the apachectl -t -D DUMP_VHOSTS command and this is the output. Can't make much sense of it...: root@atajosapp:/# apachectl -t -D DUMP_VHOSTS apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using atajosapp.com for ServerName [Thu Nov 07 02:01:24 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts VirtualHost configuration: wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: *:443 is a NameVirtualHost default server api.atajosapp.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/api.atajosapp.com:1) port 443 namevhost api.atajosapp.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/api.atajosapp.com:1) port 443 namevhost auth.atajosapp.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/auth.atajosapp.com:1) *:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server atajosapp.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:1) port 80 namevhost atajosapp.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:1)

  • Can I use iptables on my Varnish server to forward HTTPS traffic to a specific server?

    - by Dylan Beattie
We use Varnish as our front-end web cache and load balancer, so we have a Linux server in our development environment, running Varnish with some basic caching and load-balancing rules across a pair of Windows 2008 IIS web servers. We have a wildcard DNS rule that points *.development at this Varnish box, so we can browse http://www.mysite.com.development, http://www.othersite.com.development, etc. The problem is that since Varnish can't handle HTTPS traffic, we can't access https://www.mysite.com.development/ For dev/testing, we don't need any acceleration or load-balancing - all I need is to tell this box to act as a dumb proxy and forward any incoming requests on port 443 to a specific IIS server. I suspect iptables may offer a solution but it's been a long while since I wrote an iptables rule. Some initial hacking has got me as far as iptables -F iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --sport 443 -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 443 -j DNAT --to 10.0.0.241:443 iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -p tcp -d 10.0.0.241 --dport 443 -j MASQUERADE iptables -A INPUT -j LOG --log-level 4 --log-prefix 'PreRouting ' iptables -A OUTPUT -j LOG --log-level 4 --log-prefix 'PostRouting ' iptables-save > /etc/iptables.rules (where 10.0.0.241 is the IIS box hosting the HTTPS website), but this doesn't appear to be working. To clarify - I realize there's security implications about HTTPS proxying/caching - all I'm looking for is completely transparent IP traffic forwarding. I don't need to decrypt, cache or inspect any of the packets; I just want anything on port 443 to flow through the Linux box to the IIS box behind it as though the Linux box wasn't even there. Any help gratefully received... EDIT: Included full iptables config script.
