  • ATI Radeon HD 5970 Display numbering issues

    I have 2 computers on which i have ATI Radeon HD 5970 graphics card installed. There is 1 VGA out and 1 DVI out in it. When I connect my VGA out to a monitor on my 1st computer, it shows it as display 1 and when I connect my DVI out to a monitor it show it as display 2 (I am using extended display). When I do the same thing on my 2nd computer it shows just the opposite. The VGA out shows as display 2 and the DVI out shows as display 1. Is it a problem with the drivers or the hardware? (because the graphics card on both is exactly the same)

  • WCF - (504) The server did not return a response for this request.

    I have a JSONP WCF service,using back end as MySql.It is working properly when i run it locally with visual studio. Now we have hosted it in Windows Server 2003. Now there is very strange problem occurring.. When I do a request with fiddler which does not require much processing internally, it gives me result 200 OK with desired output as response, But when I do a request which requires some internal data processing, it gives me 504 error(gateway time out error). I also looked at C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles to see if it logs any error but it shows ok result in fiddler request which is as follows: Fields: date time s-sitename s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status 2010-04-07 10:08:06 W3SVC490896353 s-ip GET /InitialState.svc/GetInitialState reference=1&pageId=18 8080 - c-ip Fiddler 200 0 64 Can anyone please help me to resolve the problem ??     I wanted some information about FAST ESP search engine. After failing to get any response from the email query system on Microsoft site I called their ore-sales phone number. The person there told me the only way they sell FAST ESP is as a bundled product with SharePoint. That really does not make any sense and contradicts all the PDF documents they have about FAST ESP on their site. Does anyone know who to contact at Microsoft to discuss this product?

    I get the following text as a string from an XML-based REST API 'd':4 'ca':5 'sen':1 'diann':2,6,8 'feinstein':3,7,9 that I'm looking to deserialize into a pretty little Python dictionary: { 'd': [4], 'ca': [5], 'sen': [1], 'diann': [2, 6, 8], 'feinstein': [3, 7, 9] } I'm hoping to avoid using regular expressions or heavy string manipulation, as this format isn't documented and may change. The best I've been able to come up with: members = {} for m in elem.text.split(' '): m = m.split(':') members[m[0].replace("'", '')] = map(int, m[1].split(',')) return members Obviously a terrible approach, but it works, and that's better than anything else I've got right now. Any suggestions on better approaches?

    I am trying to send a simple XML file of the format given in http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/display/HUDSON/Monitoring+external+jobs . I was able to send it easily and was getting desired result!! Then I tried to build this XML file using python script and it was giving me the exact file that I wanted without any problem. But when I tried to run this and send it to Hudson, I was getting the error - "No module named dom.minidom" . I checked again by executing in Python IDLE and it ws working fine but when I tried to send it again, I was getting the same error.. plz help..

  • os.environ() giving errors while setting for Hudson

    I want a small python script to set the HUDSON_HOME environment variable. When using the shell, I can easily do this using set HUDSON_HOME=http://localhost:8080 But how can I do the same directly through python?? I don't want to do it by passing the command line to os.system().. can os.environ() be of any help?? I had in my script: import os os.environ('HUDSON_HOME')='http://localhost:8080' but it's probably setting it for the subprocss and not the parent shell..any way around this??

    In C++ we can enter multiple lines by giving our own choice of delimiting character in the getline() function.. however I am not able to do the same in Python!! it has only raw_input() and sys.stdin.readline() methods that read till I press enter. Is there any way to customize this so that I can specify my own delimiter?

    I assume arguments to my shell scripts willbe ./x.sh subject N file1 file2 fileN So I am splicing argv from 3 till end candidates=${@:3} now I want to check whether length of candidates is same as given N I am trying with echo $((${#candidates[@]})) which is always returning 1. I can do echo "$#-2" | bc but, I shouldn't I be able to get array size ? I can use bc to do integer comparison. but I've to know the size of `candidates array which I am not getting properly.

    Can I use an external assembly's static method like [ThreadStatic] method? Here is my situation. The assembly class (which I do not have access to its source) has this structure public class RegistrationManager() { private RegistrationManager() {} public static void RegisterConfiguration(int ID) {} public static object DoWork() {} public static void UnregisterConfiguration(int ID) {} } Once registered, I cannot call the DoWork() with a different ID without unregistering the previously registered one. Actually I want to call the DoWork() method with different IDs simultaneously with multi-threading. If the RegisterConfiguration(int ID) method was [ThreadStatic], I could have call it in different threads without problems with calls, right? So, can I apply the [ThreadStatic] attribute to this method or is there any other way I can call the two static methods same time without waiting for other thread to unregister it?   • How to implement the "System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName <then my message>)" of Eclipse in Netbeans?

    I would like to know if there is the same feature as in eclipse to automatically generate and print the System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName <then my message>) functionality (which will print the class name and method name for debugging in the console) in Netbeans also. For example, in Eclipse Editor, Typing syst + Ctrl+ Space will auto generate a System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName ) type output in the console. Is such a method available in Netbeans? As of now, I have only two methods here in Netbeans: sout + Tab (System.out.println()) and soutv + Tab (System.out.println(prints the variable used just above the line)) automatically. Let me rephrase, instead of myMethod1, I want to get the enclosing method name. However, when I start the system, GRUB throws up an Error 22 (missing partition) and does not let me boot into Windows. The CD ROM on my laptop is fried and therefore I tried installing Ubuntu again using a USB install. However, the version Ubuntu 9.10 justs hangs in the load screen and does nothing. I do not have windows Vista Recovery CD (as it was a recovery partition in my laptop). What are the options I have? How do I fix this?

    We are hosting a VPS on a popular host and are experiencing a regular time drift of several minutes a day forward (approx 7). Linux Kernel: 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 GNU/Linux Distro: CentOS release 5.4 (Final) We reached out to our hosting provider and their support advised us " This is a known issue with Cloud Servers. To fix this you will need to add one line to your grub config located at: /boot/grub/menu.lst The line you need to add is: noapic nolapic divider=10 nolapic_timer This should correct this issue. You will need to restart after this is added in. " Because I am wary of manipulating grub, mostly I'm terrified that our server may fail to restart - I ask you guys, the pro *nix admins - where exactly in this file does the recommended insertion below: # line from 1&1 for time syncing issue (Case 5163) noapic nolapic divider=10 nolapic_timer go? Please specify where exactly, and whether the order of commands is or is not important. Why is the block below "title CentOS ..." indented? If someone could give me an overview of how this works or point me to a resource that's easy to follow, that's what I'm looking for immediately, a light overview or basic understanding of what I;m doing. If GRUB and bootloaders are a deep dark treasure trove of kernel hacking or something, that's great well-recommended in-depth resources are also very welcome.   • Process killing trouble

    I am trying to program a server software which involves a lot of testing on java / scala platform. Whenever i compile and execute the code. It starts listening on port 80. Sometimes i need to terminate it by Ctrl+C when it hangs. In that case, ubuntu is not freeing the port. So in order to run the process, i have to restart the machine. I see this at ps aux root 1924 0.0 0.0 5796 1660 pts/0 T 05:44 0:00 sudo scala - root 1925 0.2 1.5 491448 40796 pts/0 Tl 05:44 0:03 java -Xmx256M -Xms16M So process 1924 and 1925. I did sudo kill on both these. But then they keep on persisting even after a long time. sudo nmap -T Aggressive -A -v 127.0.0.1 -p 1-65000 Scanning localhost (127.0.0.1) [65000 ports] Discovered open port 80/tcp on 127.0.0.1 It means its still there ! sudo netstat --tcp --udp --listening --program tcp6 0 0 [::]:www [::]:* LISTEN 1925/java tcp6 0 0 ip6-localhost:ipp [::]:* LISTEN 1185/cupsd This means its 1925 - java How to kill it.

    I am using netfilter_queue to pick up certain packets from the kernel and do some processing on them. To, the netfilter queue, I need all packets from a particular source except UDP packets with src port 2152 & dst port 2152. I try to add the iptable rule as iptables -A OUTPUT ! s 192.168.0.3 ! -p udp ! --sport 2905 ! --dport 2905 -j NFQUEUE --queue-num 0 iptables throw up an error of Invalid Argument. Querying dmesg, I see the following error print ip_tables: udp match: only valid for protocol 17 I have tried the following variation with the same error thrown. iptables -A OUTPUT ! s 192.168.0.3 ! -p udp --sport 2905 --dport 2905 -j NFQUEUE --queue-num 0 Can you please advise on the correct usage of the iptables command for my case.

  • Creating Routes using the second NIC in the box

    OS: Linux I need some advice on how to set up the routing table. I have a box with two physical NIC cards eth0 & eth1 with two associated IPs IP1 & IP2 (both of the same subnet). I need to setup a route which will force all messages from IP1 towards IP3 (of the same subnet) to go via IP2. I have a raw socket capture program listening on IP2 (This is not for malicious use). I have set up the routing table as Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface IP3 IP2 255.255.255.255 UGH 0 0 0 eth1 If I try to specify eth0 while adding the above rule, I get an error "SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable". I understand from the manpage of route that if the GW specified is a local interface, then that would be use as the outgoing interface. After setting up this rule, if i do a traceroute (-i eth0), the packet goes first to the default gateway and then to IP3. How do I force the packet originating from eth0 towards IP3 to first come to IP2. I cannot make changes to the routing table of the gateway. Please suggest.
