    On Monday 12/6/2010, Florida witnessed the inauguration of the state’s first official chapter of the International Association for Software Architects (IASA). Present were Ms. Damaris Bode, Global IASA Chapter Director and Mr. Uday Batt, President of the Indian Chapter.   Ms. Bode spoke to us about the various benefits IASA offers to its members as well as the various available education courses and certification tracks.     Hi, I have situation in with I stucked and don't know way out. The problem is in my bigger model, but I have made small example which shows the same problem. I have 4 tables. I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition.     I have an association of a Admin - Account in factory girl I now wish to associate a second user with the same account but am unable to do so. I build my Admin-Account association like this u.account { |account| account.association(:account)} This works fine and creates the Account and Admin association. Im looking for a way to setup a second user who's account also points to the record created in the Admin factory association. I currently just build the second user as such @user = Factory.build(:seconduser) @user.account = Account.first @user.save! Which works but seems somewhat hacky .

  • Why are certain default application associations "locked"?

    Edit: As i now have three answers that do not answer the question: This question is not about getting the association to work again. I do not like fighting symptoms, i prefer cures. After associating my MP3 files with MPlayer using the Open with/Choose default program... dialogue i can no longer change that association using said dialogue, the Always use this [...] Checkbox is henceforth always greyed out (Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program does not let me change it either, it seems to just use the same dialogue anyway). That also happened for MP4s but not for MKVs for example, and if i associate my MP3s with other applications like VLC it does not get blocked. I would really like to know why that is and if i can avoid this beforehand (thankfully i know ways to fix it afterwards already). Edit: Another obervation: The blocking programs (i managed to block it with an association to Visual Studio as well) do not appear in the Recommended Programs of the open-with-dialogue (And the explorer said: "The current program is not recommended, but i won't let you change it, ha!"). Edit: A screenshot as requested: As you can see on the top left (if you know the icon of MPlayer), the file is currently associated with MPlayer. Edit: Ways to fix it (Note: This question is not about fixing it) Using the Default Programs Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Default Programs, select WMP, Choose defaults for this program, check .mp3 This should reassociate the files with WMP and you can create a new association in the explorer. Using the registry (As always, keep your hands off it unless you know what you are doing or if you are fine with accidentally breaking your system) HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > FileExts > .mp3 Here you could for example clean up the open-with-list, and the current default program seems to be saved here as well in the key UserChoice, there you can change the ProgId string to another application, you can associate it with WMP by entering WMP11.AssocFile.MP3 or just pick another application right away. You may need to mess with permissions on the key though, if you cannot change the ProgId value.

  • Firefox application associations not working

    No matter what changes i make to file associations (actions) in the 'Applications' tab in firefox, they're totally ignored. For example, i set .wmv and .avi files to open with 'smplayer' but when i download a file and double-click on it (through the 'Downloads' window), it keeps opening with Totem player. I've tried to delete and recreate mimetypes.rdf but that didn't help. Any ideas on what else should i check?

    I'm trying to associate .doc and .docx files to MS Word 2010 using the same .desktop file as Unity dash and launcher, so I can use the Word icon in launcher. I tried: [Desktop Entry] Name=Microsoft Word 2010 Exec=env WINEPREFIX="/home/nastys/.mso2010" wine "C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office14/WINWORD.exe" %f Type=Application StartupNotify=true Comment=Create and edit professional-looking documents such as letters, papers, reports, and booklets by using Microsoft Word. Icon=29F5_WINWORD.0 StartupWMClass=WINWORD.EXE MimeType=application/msword; application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document; Using this .desktop file I can launch Word with its icon in Unity launcher, but if I associate .doc files to the same file Word will launch, but it won't open the .doc file. If I associate .doc files to any .desktop file generated by Wine it will launch Word, but it will use Wine icon.

  • Web browser downloads only open target folders - cannot open files

    After installing xubuntu packages in order to check xfce, I reverted back to gnome2. During the first login, I noticed that thunar was now selected as the default file manager. Preferred applications menu is also missing now, so I could not set nautilus as the default. I removed all the xubuntu packages (including thunar) and then when I tried to open a folder, I was asked to select the default file manager - that's how I got nautilus back. The next problem I'm now facing has to do with the downloaded files from web browsers: Open and Open containing folder options produce exactly the same result. If I double-click on a file, it'll just open the containing folder, instead of opening the file with it's associated application (e.g. libreoffice writer for .doc,.odt, smplayer for .avi,.wmv, etc). The problem happens both in Firefox and Chrome. Through nautilus, all files open correctly. Up until now I've tried the following: Delete/recreate mimeTypes.rdf in my FF profile Create a new profile in FF Delete/recreate ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list Already checked this similar article None of them worked. Any ideas on the issue would be appreciated.

  • How do I get ftype & assoc to match Windows Explorer?

    I changed the association to use upon launching a .py file, via Windows Explorer: Tools - Folders - File types. Then browse to .py. Change the association to Wordpad. Now when I type the name of a py file in the command line, Wordpad opens it. But assoc and ftype in the command line still return the following: C:\> assoc .py .py = Python.File C:\> ftype Python.File Python.File = "C:\Program\Python27\python.exe" "%1" %* How come the association is working, but assoc and ftype are not aware of it? I did restart the prompt. More info from my registry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.py = Python.File HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.py\Application = wordpad.exe HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.py\OpenWithProgids\Python.File = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.py\(Standard) = Python.File More registry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\python.exe\shell\open\command\(Standard) = "C:\Program\Python27\python.exe" "%1" %*` I suppose this is what is showing up in ftype Python.File. But it does not seem to get used. (I am doing this for testing, so I can eventually choose my default version of Python easily).

  • google-chrome video application association

    Is there any way to tell google-chrome to launch video files of particular types in an external application (or even just to bring up the download box as if the type was un-handled), instead of showing the video inside the browser? Searching online, it seems that chrome is supposed to use xdg-mime for file associations, but apparently is ignoring this for video. For example, when I do: xdg-mime query default video/mpeg It returns dragonplayer.desktop. But when I click on a mpeg video link, chrome displays it internally instead of launching Dragon Player (if I double click on a mpeg file in my file manager, on the other hand, it does open Dragon Player). So is there a way to tell chrome to respect this setting, or another way to coax chrome into opening the file externally? If it matters, I'm running the latest version of google-chrome stable (not chromium) at the time of writing, v. 18.0.1025.151, on kubuntu 11.10.

    I deployed a project some days ago that allow to extract some medical articles using the results of a questionnaire completed by a user. For instance, if I reply on questionnaire I'm affected by Diabetes type 2 and I'm a smoker, my algorithm extracts all articles related to diabetes bubbling up all articles contains information about Diabetes type 2 and smoking. Basically we created a list of topic and, for every topic we define a kind of "guideline" that allows to extract and order informations for a user. I'm quite sure there are some better way to put on relationship two content but I was not able to find them on network. Could you suggest my a model, algorithm or paper to better understand this kind of problem and that helps me to find a faster, and more accurate way to extract information for an user?

  • model association or controller?

    I'm trying to create a rails app that allows users to submit information about their pets. I've come to a point where my knowledge is limited and I don't know enough about what/how this could be done so I'm hoping this will be relatively easy to answer. At the moment I have a model called Pet, this model currently stores basic information like name, picture etc but it also holds more specific data like type, breed, date of birth etc. What I would like to be able to do is create a page that can match various records without having to be manually categorized if that makes sense so a users pet could be matched to other pets with the same breed, age etc. I've read about nested models as I understand this information could be submitted to 2 models in one form but I am not sure whether this could be done directly in a separate controller which would only be visible to users with pets in these matched "groups" if that makes sense. So in essence is it best practice to use 1 table to store all the information and just use a controller to match pets based on rows having the same values or would it be far simpler to have a form with a nested model and link 2 tables together? The main feature needs to be matching without a user having to create a group or categorize pets so the second model would need to add id's to an array instead of just creating more and more rows.

Out of my depth, but I am a loyal foot soldier. A problem I encounter rather too often is a user double-clicks on a file in Explorer and then either gets no action, or the wrong program to run. It's a case of a missing or out-of-date file association. The current cure is to temporarily upgrade the user from Standard to Power, do the FA switch and then change back. As Winnie would whine, 'Oh, bother!' At any rate, I thought I'd ask here. Is there a method/program to run without the rigamarole FROM the Standard Users account on the workstation to edit/add a file association? I assume the program route would involve RunAs. I 'believe' most of the workstations run the RunAs service, but I could be wrong. I understand that's required, if there is to be a solution. Any help accepted with thanks.     It used to be in Windows XP that I could make Warcraft III files load automatically into the game by double clicking on them. This association was made by going to file associations ADVANCED area and using this line: "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\War3.exe" -loadfile "%1" Note that it takes an argument and an option. However, in Windows 7, the "Default Programs" "Set Associations" area doesn't seem to have this advanced area. Can I still get these files to open automatically?
