  • Android Bottombar with two buttons having different backgrounds and a common background for two butt

    - by cppdev
Hi, I have a linear layout in my main.xml which has a listview. Now I want to create a bottom bar below listview. Bottombar has a background image and two buttons with their individual background images. I want to put these two buttons on common background image. I have read that this can be achieved using FrameLayout. But since I am using LinearLayout as base layout in my main.xml, is there any way to this design using linearlayout ?

  • Problem setting row backgrounds in Android Listview

    - by zchtodd
    I have an application in which I'd like one row at a time to have a certain color. This seems to work about 95% of the time, but sometimes instead of having just one row with this color, it will allow multiple rows to have the color. Specifically, a row is set to have the "special" color when it is tapped. In rare instances, the last row tapped will retain the color despite a call to setBackgroundColor attempting to make it otherwise. private OnItemClickListener mDirectoryListener = new OnItemClickListener(){ public void onItemClick(AdapterView parent, View view, int pos, long id){ if (stdir.getStationCount() == pos) { stdir.moreStations(); return; } if (playingView != null) playingView.setBackgroundColor(Color.DKGRAY); view.setBackgroundColor(Color.MAGENTA); playingView = view; playStation(pos); } }; I have confirmed with print statements that the code setting the row to gray is always called. Can anyone imagine a reason why this code might intermittently fail? If there is a pattern or condition that causes it, I can't tell. I thought it might have something to do with the activity lifecycle setting the "playingView" variable back to null, but I can't reliably reproduce the problem by switching activities or locking the phone. private class DirectoryAdapter extends ArrayAdapter { private ArrayList<Station> items; public DirectoryAdapter(Context c, int resLayoutId, ArrayList<Station> stations){ super(c, resLayoutId, stations); this.items = stations; } public int getCount(){ return items.size() + 1; } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent){ View v = convertView; LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater)getContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); if (position == this.items.size()) { v = vi.inflate(R.layout.morerow, null); return v; } Station station = this.items.get(position); v = vi.inflate(R.layout.songrow, null); if (station.playing) v.setBackgroundColor(Color.MAGENTA); else if (station.visited) v.setBackgroundColor(Color.DKGRAY); else v.setBackgroundColor(Color.BLACK); TextView title = (TextView)v.findViewById(R.id.title); title.setText(station.name); return v; } };

  • Android - Memory leak when dynamically building UI with image resource backgrounds

    - by Rich
    I have an Activity that I swear is leaking memory. The app I'm working on does a lot with images, so I've had to be pretty stingy with memory when working directly with Bitmaps. I added an Activity, and now if you use this new Activity it basically puts me over the edge with mem usage and I end up throwing the "Bitmap exceeds VM budget" exception. If you never launch this Activity, everything is smooth as it was previously. I started reading about memory leaks, and I think that I have a similar situation to what is described in the article in the Android docs. I'm dynamically creating a bunch of image views and adding a BackgroundDrawable from the resources and adding an OnClickListener as well. I imagine I have to do some cleanup when the Activity hits onPause in its life cycle, but I'd like to know specifically what is the correct way. Here is the code that should demonstrate the objects I'm working with... LinearLayout templateContainer; . . . ImageView imgTemplatePreview = (ImageView) item.findViewById(R.id.imgTemplatePreview); . . . imgTemplatePreview.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(previewId)); imgTemplatePreview.setOnClickListener(imgClick); templateContainer.addView(item);

  • jQuery validation plugin - no error messages instead custom backgrounds

    - by Skoota
I am using the jQuery validation plugin. The form which is being validated has custom background images for the text input fields, so instead of showing an error message for invalid fields I would like to change the background image. Making things a bit trickier is that the background image for the fields is on a different div absolutely positioned behind the text field (which has a transparent background and no border). I will spare going into the reasons for this design decision here (it's related to margins within the text field) but I thought it should be mentioned since it is critical to this question. Therefore, I have two questions: How can I stop the display of the error messages all-together? How can I instead tell the validation plugin if, for example, the name field (e.g. <input id=name ... />) is invalid then it should change the background for the relevant div (e.g. <div id=name-bg... ></div>)? Thanks for any assistance!

  • Having two backgrounds for an active menu item?

    - by HollerTrain
Hi I have a dynamic menu where the ul li items change in width depending on the text set in the CMS (Joomla). They want the menu item, on mouse over, to both have 1. a repeated background image and 2. an image placed at the top (http://screencast.com/t/Zjk4YTJmNGQ). Now, I'm great with doing the repeated background image on a mouse over and that would be great, but I am not sure how to get both of these images in one css declaration. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I haven't learned this technique yet :(

  • Width of Repeating Backgrounds

    - by tdskate
Hello. What's best, a repeating background of 100px wide so that the actual file doesn't need to be redrawn 1000X times in width, or a 1px file that probably has smaller file size, but the browser will need to redraw it a lot more. Thanks.

  • How to get differents backgrounds for each desktop working properly?

    - by MaikoID
I've followed all the instructions for getting differents wallpapers for each desktop. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10. I've installed compiz-fusion-plugins-extra to add Wallpaper plugin on my Compiz Settings Manager (ccsm). But unfortunaly I cannot get my wallpapers working properly. I follow these instructions http://ubuntuguide.net/different-wallpapers-on-each-workspace-in-ubuntu and I just get a black background. Everything works fine after I press Win+P (I don't know what is this shortcut, refresh output I guess) or switch between ttf1 and ttf8 (ctrl+alt+f1 and ctrl+alt+f8). I tried reboot but the problem persist. What can I do to resolve this issue ?

  • set installer background / not able to run early_command in custom preseed file (precise)

    - by user73093
I have a custom preseed file for a Precise Live CD (which is well loaded on boot, I checked syslog for that). My initial problem is that when booting in install mode (default behavior for a Live CD), ubiquity runs X with a default wallpaper which is hardcoded to /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png in Ubiquity code. So my idea was to run early_command (https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/installation-guide/i386/preseed-advanced.html) to copy my custom wallpaper over /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png. Assuming my custom wallpaper allready resides on the rootfs in /usr/share/backgrounds. But... It seems the early_command never runs (and I'm sure the preseed file is taken into account) Here is what I have added to my preseed file: d-i preseed/early_command string cp /usr/share/backgrounds/mywallpaper-defaults.jpg /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png Even this one is never run: d-i preseed/early_command string /usr/bin/touch /tmp/testearly Thanks for helping !!

  • How can I modify the BAT file in this post so it will randomly select 1 background contained in a folder containing multiple backgrounds?

    - by Radical924
Is there a way to modify the bat file from this post here: How do I set the desktop background on Windows from a script? so that it will randomly select 1 background image from a folder containing multiple images??? AND I would also like the background to randomly change to one of the backgrounds randomly contained in the same folder. If this is possible how would I modify the bat file below??? @echo off reg add "hkcu\control panel\desktop" /v wallpaper /t REG_SZ /d "" /f reg add "hkcu\control panel\desktop" /v wallpaper /t REG_SZ /d "C:\[LOCATION OF WALLPAPER HERE]" /f reg delete "hkcu\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\General" /v WallpaperStyle /f reg add "hkcu\control panel\desktop" /v WallpaperStyle /t REG_SZ /d 2 /f RUNDLL32.EXE user32.dll,UpdatePerUserSystemParameters exit Also I noticed that this bat file won't work usually (9 times out of 10)... I receive an "ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value." I have Windows 7 64-BIT Home Premium Service Pack 1

  • How did the Lunar Lander example make the image backgrounds transparent?

    - by user279112
Hello. I'm trying to make a GUI program with the Android SDK, using their Lunar Lander example as a significant self-teaching tool in the process. I've noticed their sprites' images' backgrounds, which were at least usually pure white, did not show up in their program. I want to ask how they did that, since their site doesn't explain simple things very well. I've managed to pull that off before on another GUI SDK, wherein all I had to do was to call a function and pass it a few floats to define a certain color, and until my code told it to do otherwise, that function would make sure that that particular color in my sprites' images was totally transparent. However I've wrestled with the Lunar Lander example and getting my own program to show some custom graphics for a week or two now, and I haven't noticed any such function call in the Lunar Lander example. I tried to look for it, but I did not find anything. I've tried to Google some tutorial or other reference material, but what I've found so far is just straying off into unrelated areas and totally dodging this EXTREMELY important lesson on the SDK's basics. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • getView only shows Flagged Backgrounds for drawn Views, It does not show Flagged Background when scroll to view more items on list

    - by Leoa
I am trying to create a listview that receives a flagged list of items to indicate a status to the user. I have been able to create the flag display by using a yellow background (see image at bottom). In Theory, the flagged list can have many flagged items in it. However in my app, only the first three flagged backgrounds are shown. I believe this is because they are initially drawn to the screen. The Flagged background that are not drawn initially to the screen do not show. I'd like to know how to get the remaining flags to show in the list. ListView Recycling: The backgrounds in the listView are being recycled in getView(). This recycling goes from position 0 to position 9. I have flags that need to match at positions 13, 14 and so on. Those positions are not being displayed. listView.getCheckedItemPositions() for multiple selections: This method will not work in my case because the user will not selected the flags. The flags are coming from the server. setNotifyOnChange() and/or public virtual void SetNotifyOnChange (bool notifyOnChange): I'm not adding new data to the list, so I don't see how this method would work for my program. Does this method communicate to getview when it is recycling data? I was unable to find an answer to this in my research. public void registerDataSetObserver: This may be overkill for my problem, but is it possible to have an observer object that keeps track of the all the positions in my items list and in my flag list no matter if the view is recycled and match them on the screen? Code: package com.convention.notification.app; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.graphics.Color; import android.os.Bundle; import android.text.Html; import android.util.Log; import android.view.LayoutInflater; import android.view.View; import android.view.ViewGroup; import android.view.ViewParent; import android.widget.AdapterView; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.TextView; public class NewsRowAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<Item> { private Activity activity; private List<Item> items; private Item objBean; private int row; private List<Integer> disable; View view ; int disableView; public NewsRowAdapter(Activity act, int resource, List<Item> arrayList, List<Integer> disableList) { super(act, resource, arrayList); this.activity = act; this.row = resource; this.items = arrayList; this.disable=disableList; System.out.println("results of delete list a:"+disable.toString()); } public int getCount() { return items.size(); } public Item getItem(int position) { return items.get(position); } public long getItemId(int position) { return position; } @Override public int getItemViewType(int position) { for(int k =0;k < disable.size();k++){ if(position==disable.get(k)){ //System.out.println( "is "+position+" value of disable "+disable.get(k)); disableView=disable.get(k); //AdapterView.getItemAtPosition(position); } } return position; } @Override public View getView(final int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View view = convertView; ViewHolder holder; if (view == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) activity.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); view = inflater.inflate(row, null); getItemViewType(position); long id=getItemId(position); if(position==disableView){ view.setBackgroundColor(Color.YELLOW); System.out.println(" background set to yellow at position "+position +" disableView is at "+disableView); }else{ view.setBackgroundColor(Color.WHITE); System.out.println(" background set to white at position "+position +" disableView is at "+disableView); } //ViewHolder is a custom class that gets TextViews by name: tvName, tvCity, tvBDate, tvGender, tvAge; holder = new ViewHolder(); /* setTag Sets the tag associated with this view. • How do I customize desktop wallpaper slideshow?

    - by Pithikos
I spent some time and tried varioues things but nothing works. Here's what I have tried so far(changing the slideshow manually): Making a new folder /usr/share/backgrounds/mywallpapers and add my own background-1.xml in there. Copying a bunch of my own wallpaper files into /usr/share/backgrounds/ Copy /usr/share/backgrounds/Contest/background-1.xml to /usr/share/backgrounds/ I logged out and in and still no changes in Appearance app. I have heard about Wallch but I don't want some app running in the background all the time. I'm not even sure Wallch will work with Gnome 3. I also tryied gnome-3-wp (Gnome 3 Wallpaper Slideshow app) but it just seems broken for Oneiric Ubuntu 11.10. Anyone has a solution?

  • Why do .png backgrounds appear black on iPhone device but not simulator?

    - by David Rea
I started with a .tiff file and used GraphicConverter to change it to a .png and set a transparency color. Worked fine in the simulator but when I pushed to the device the transparency color became black. Tested with a .png I downloaded from the net and that worked fine, so it seems to only happen with some files. Thus I suspect it has something to do with the way GraphicConverter writes the .pngs, but I don't know enough about file formats to debug it. Any ideas/suggestions? Ideally I'd like to programatically treat all .pngs because my app allowed dynamic loading of arbitrary files, so I can't verify the transparency beforehand.

  • HTML/CSS: Keep the same height between the backgrounds of a term-description pair in a table-like de

    - by peroyomas
I want to format a definition list in HTML as if it were a table with th in a column and td in another, with a background that alternates per row (although a background for the dt and another for the dd also fits for the problem), so I have this CSS: dl { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 0.6em; overflow: hidden; width: 200px;; } dl dt { font-weight: bold; float: left; clear: left; padding-right: 1%; width: 48%; } dl dt:nth-of-type(odd), dl dd:nth-of-type(odd) { background-color: #EEE; } dl dt:nth-of-type(even), dl dd:nth-of-type(even) { background-color: #DDD; } dl dd { float: left; width: 50%; padding-left: 1%; margin-left: 0; } Example HTML: <dl> <dt>Key 1</dt> <dd>Value 1</dd> <dt>Very very very long key 2 </dt> <dd>Value 2</dd> <dt>Key 3</dt> <dd>Value 3 with<br /> line breaks</dd> <dt>Key 4</dt> <dd>Value 4</dd> </dl> The problem is that, due to the eventual height dissimilarity, "holes" with no background appears in the list: Is there a way to fix that?

  • CSS: How the backgrounds can extend the border and overlap?

    - by AlexStack
I'm designing a navigation bar as shown in image below (a) with the following code: <ul> <li class="unselected">Step 1</li> <li class="selected">Step 2</li> <li class="unselected">Step 3</li> <li class="unselected">Step 4</li> <li class="unselected">Step 5</li> </ul> I want to have one background image for unselected steps (d) and one for the selected step (c). For simplicity let's assume Step 1 and Step 5 use the same background as well. I want to adjust the button background in HTML only with a class name. The question is how can I achieve the result with CSS? I just want to know how background of two neighbor elements can overlap each other?

    - by PP
I have written following gtkrc file from some other theme gtkrc file. This theme is normal theme with buttons using pixmap theme engine. I have also given background image to GtkEntry. • Add Background Images and Themes to Windows 7 Media Center

    - by DigitalGeekery
Are you tired of the same Windows Media Center look and feel? Today we’ll show you how change the background and apply themes to WMC. Changing the Basic Color Scheme in WMC There are a couple of very basic color scheme options built in to Windows 7 Media Center. From the WMC Start Menu, select Settings on the Tasks strip and then select General. On the General settings screen select Visual and Sound Effects.   Under Color scheme you’ll find options for Windows Media Center standard, High contrast white, and High contrast black. Simply select a color scheme and click Save before exiting.   If you have used Media Center before you are familiar with the standard blue default theme. There is also the high contrast white. And, the high contrast black. Changing the Background Image with Media Center Studio Themes and custom backgrounds need to be added with the third-party software, Media Center Studio. You can find the download link at the end of this article. You can use your own high resolution photo, or download one from the Internet. For best results, you’ll want to find an image that meets or exceeds the resolution of your monitor. Also, using a darker colored background image is ideal as it should contrast better with the lighter colored text of the start menu. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Media Center Studio (link below), open the application select the Home tab on the ribbon and make sure you are on the Themes tab below. Click New. Select Biography from the left pane and type in a name for your new theme.   Next, click on the triangle next to Images to expand the list below. You’ll want to browse to Images > Common > Background. You should see a list of PNG image files located below Background. We will want to swap out the COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG images. Select COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and click on the Browse button on the right.   Browse for your photo and click Open. Your selected image will appear on the left pane. Now, do the same for the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG. When finished, select the Home tab on the ribbon at the top and click Save.   Now switch to the Themes tab on the ribbon and the Themes tab below. (There are two Themes tabs which can be a bit confusing). Select your theme on the right pane and click Apply. Note: You won’t see the image backgrounds displayed. Your theme will be applied to Media Center. Close out of Media Center Studio and open Windows Media Center to check out your new background.   You can load multiple backgrounds images and switch them periodically as your mood changes. You might like to find a nice background featuring your favorite movie or TV show.   Perhaps you can even find a background of your favorite sports team.   Installing Themes with Media Center Studio Theme7MC has made available a small group of Media Center Studio Theme packs that are simple to download and install. You can find the download link below. Note: Before installing a theme, turn off any extenders and close Windows Media Center. Download any (or all) of the Theme7MC theme packages to your Media Center PC. Open Media Center Studio, select the Themes tab (the one at the top) and click Import Theme.   Browse for the theme you wish to import and click Open. Select your theme from the themes pane and click Apply. Media Center Studio will proceed to apply your theme. You should then see your new theme appear under Current theme on the left theme pane. Close out of Media Center Studio. Open Media Center and enjoy your new theme. Conclusion Media Center Studio runs on Windows 7 or Vista and gives users a solution for personalizing their Media Center backgrounds. It is a Beta application, however, so it still has a few bugs. Currently, there are only a handful of themes available at Themes7MC, but what they have is pretty slick. If you’d like to further customize the look of Media Center, check out our previous article on how to customize the Media Center start menu with Media Center Studio. • How can i add more wallpapers in 11.10?

    - by bjnobrega
How do I increase the amount of wallpapers that appear on the menu for customizing the desktop with my backgrounds in 11.10? I added more images to the respective folder in /usr/share/background as root, but the list does not remain persistent. The images in 11:10 changes alone. So I want to add funds to enhance the environment. When I copy the images to the folder /usr/share/backgrounds the list is updated and increased. But only for the first time. Thereafter, the system ignores the other images, and the list of funds has become original as first. Any help?

I want to change my login screen background (and keep the dots). But I upgraded to cinnamon 2.0 a day ago and then to 13.10 earlier today. I recently became aware of the issue with cinnamon 2.0 and unity on 13.10. This normally would not matter to me since I use cinnamon instead but the only way I know of to change the login screen background is to change unity background. Also all of my backgrounds are jpgs not pngs (in case anyone was gonna say the replace /usr/share/backgrounds/ubuntu-warty.png) and for some reason gimp has issues so converting them is not currently possible for me.

  • How would I create this background effect?

    - by William
What would you call the effect applied to the backgrounds in the Giygas fight of Earthbound, and the battle backgrounds in Mother 3? This is what I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcaErqaoWek http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubVnmeTRqhg Now anyone know how I could go about this without using animated images, or using openGL?
