  • Typical collision detection

    - by marcg11
I would like to know how is the typical collision detection of most games. For example, you control a character which can move in 2 dimensional directions (except up and down). Now lets asume he walks into a wall, most of the games depending on character angle and the BB normal face will only stop the player in one axis, but will continue moving in

  • QPainter::drawText bounding boxes for each character

    - by satuon
I'm using QPainter to draw multiline text on QImage. However, I also need to display a colored rectangle around each character's bounding box. So I need to know the bounding box that each character had when being drawn. For example, for painter.drawText(QRect(100, 100, 200, 200), Qt::TextWordWrap, "line\nline2", &r); I would need to get 10

  • Triangular bounding volumes

    - by Cheery
I've come up with an alternative for beziers that might be easier to ray-trace, perhaps even though a plain vertex shader. Though there's missing a piece. I need to find the parametric surface equation from the surface normals I have for edge vertices. I also have to know it's peak and valley so I can constraint the depth of my bounding triangle.

  • Twitter API, Twitter4J, Bounding Boxes, stream by location

    - by Aidan
Hey guys, I've started a streamer via Twitter4J and I'm consuming tweets with certain keywords currently. I'd like to only get tweets within a certain location e.g within a certain country. I understand bounding boxes will do this? But I don't know how I'd implement them within twitter4J. Does anyone know? Thanks!

  • Bounding Boxes for Circle and Arcs in 3D

    - by David Rutten
Given curves of type Circle and Circular-Arc in 3D space, what is a good way to compute accurate bounding boxes (world axis aligned)? Edit: found solution for circles, still need help with Arcs. C# snippet for solving BoundingBoxes for Circles: public static BoundingBox CircleBBox(Circle circle) { Point3d O = circle.Center; Vector3d N =

  • Scale image to completely fill bounding box

    - by Larsenal
For instance, if I need to fill a bounding box that is 100px wide by 50px tall, the following input images would have the following behavior: 200w x 200h gets scaled down 50% and 25% gets chopped off the top and bottom. 200w x 100h gets scaled down 50% with no cropping. 100w x 200h gets is not scaled, but 75px get chopped off top and bottom.

  • [XNA] Forming bounding box only around visible sprites

    - by nadalian
Hi, this site has been really amazing for helping me with game development however I'm unable to find an answer for the following question (nor am I able to solve it on my own). I am trying to do rectangle collision in my game. My idea is to 1) get the original collision bounding rectangle 2) Transform the texture (pos/rot/scale) 3) Factor

  • Identify which CCSprite is touched in Cocos2d

    - by PeterK
I am trying to learn Cocos2d and is experimenting with Ray Wenderlich tutorial whack-a-mole: www.raywenderlich.com/2560/how-to-create-a-mole-whacking-game-with-cocos2d-part-1 In this tutorial three CCSprite's are popping up and you should click on them... However, i am trying to identify which mole, rat in my case, is popping up and place

  • BoundingBox Intersection Problems

    - by Deukalion
When I try to render two cubes, same sizes, one beside the other. With the same proportions (XYZ). My problem is, why do a Box1.BoundingBox.Contains(Box2.BoundingBox) == ContaintmentType.Intersects - when it clearly doesn't? I'm trying to place objects with BoundingBoxes as "intersection" checking, but this simple example clearly

  • Compute bounding quad of a sphere with vertex shader

    - by Ben Jones
I'm trying to implement an algorithm from a graphics paper and part of the algorithm is rendering spheres of known radius to a buffer. They say that they render the spheres by computing the location and size in a vertex shader and then doing appropriate shading in a fragment shader. Any guesses as to how they actually did this?

  • bounding java generics by 'super' keyword

    - by mohsenof
Why I can use 'super' just with wildcards and not with type parameters? for example why in Collection interface they've not written toArray method like this interface Collection"<"T{ public "< S super T S[] toArray(S[] a){ } } (sorry, I don't know how to deal with "<")

  • Finding text's bounding rect in Core Text

    - by Mo
I'm trying to find the boundaries of a line of text in Core Text. For simplicity, assume it has a single character. At the moment I'm using the following method: line = CTLineCreateWithAttributedString(attrString); rect = CTLineGetImageBounds(line, context); It works most of the times, but for some characters, like math italic

  • image appears larger than bounding rectangle?

    - by Kildareflare
Hello I'm implementing a custom print preview control. One of the objects it needs to display is an image which can be several pages high and wide. I've successfully divided the image into pages and displayed them in the correct order. Each "page" is drawn within the marginbounds. (That is, each page is sized to be the same

  • Naming Exception when bounding to the home interface

    - by Nila
Hi! I'm new to ejb. I'm trying to call the ejb from the servlet. But, I'm getting the NamingException. I'm directly running the servlet from the netbeans to check whether it is calling the ejb. But, it is not working. I'm getting the exception as home interface not bound. What is the solution for this?

  • html/css: set div bounding box to window height

    - by noamtm
It looks like I'm missing something basic. I want a certain DIV to have the height of the window. The effect should be that there's never any need to scroll down. Do I have to use JavaScript? I was told that it's possible with css, but I can't find the relevant property - or I'm doing something wrong.

  • Do I need a spatial index in my database?

    - by Sanoj
I am designing an application that needs to save geometric shapes in a database. I haven't choosen the database management system yet. In my application, all database queries will have an bounding box as input, and as output I want all shapes within that database. I know that databases with a spatial index is
