This nice interactive Bing Maps mash up lets you easily visualize all the FIFA World Cup Stadiums by flying across them. Cricket world Cup 2011 is about to start and its going to be full of action.   • Can't connect to public WiFi with MacBookPro at coffee shops and libraries

    The Problem: I can't connect to public, unencrypted WiFi at my local public library or Peets Coffee. My Setup: Late 2006 MacBookPro running 10.5.8. I have Parallels installed. It's supposed to work like this: 1) Connect to their unencrypted WiFi network 2) Open a browser which redirects you to their "enter password/agree to terms" page. 3) Browse normally. I can connect to the WiFi network, but when I try to authenticate I always get stuck in a redirect loop. It's been like this for a while. Even before I upgraded to 10.5.8. I never have trouble with encrypted networks or regular open WiFi. What I've tried: Disabling Parallels connections in Network Prefs. Superstition: somehow Parallels installed something in the network stack that's messing me up. Pinging the IP address of the WiFi node I'm connected to. I can ping it, it's there, but I still get stuck in this authentication redirect loop. Tried different browsers, tried different cookie and security settings. Even tried IE under Parallels. No dice. Tried flushing DNS cache. Asked library and coffee employees for help. It didn't go well. My Question: Anybody else have this problem? What should I be looking for?

  • Coffee spilled inside computer, damaged hard drive

    Today coffee spilled over my table, and some of it (very less) reached the PC case placed under the table. I think little bit of it got inside the PC case through the front. As that happened the fan started running very fast and made noise. I tried to restart to see if it becomes fine, but the computer didn't start again. First it gave an error of "Alert! Air temperature sensor not detected" and didn't start. Next I tried again multiple times of starting the computer but then it gave some memory error. I was not able to start the computer. Incase there's a problem in hard disk or something related to memory, is there any way we can extract our work or data? I am scared if I am not able to extract my work in case some problem occurs like that. What options would I have? Help!! EDIT: I have attached the photo here and you can see the area spilt in red circle. The hard drive electronics have been affected and internal speaker may also have been affected. Any advise on cleaning and if hard drive can work? EDIT 2: Are there any professional services offered to extract data from blemished hard disk, like this one, in case I am not able to run it personally?

    I am setting up a World Cup Challenge between some friends, and decided to practice my Ruby and write a small script to automate the process. The Problem: 32 World Cup qualifiers split into 4 tiers by their Fifa ranking 8 entries Each entry is assigned 1 random team per tier Winner takes all :-) I wrote something that suffices yet is admittedly brute force. But, in my attempt to improve my Ruby, I acknowlege that this code isn't the most elegant solution around - So I turn to you, the experts, to show me the way.   • Chemical alternatives to caffeine / coffee for mental clarity and alertness? [on hold]

    Currently I drink about 2 cups of coffee or tea a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon usually). However I'm very sensitive to stimulants and drinking caffeine regularly keeps my resting heart rate really high, causes occasional heart palpitations, and sometimes trouble sleeping. I've tried going without coffee, and while I can do it, I have trouble concentrating at work and even just enjoying my work. I'm borderline ADD (or possibly full on ADD, but haven't been checked). And I tend to lose focus easily if I don't have some coffee or tea in me. For health reasons, I'd like to cut it out completely, but when I do my work performance seriously suffers. I already work out (cardio and/or weight lifting) 5 - 6 days a week, and get an average of about 8 hours of sleep, but I still can't focus throughout the day without caffeine. Are there any over the counter chemical or supplement alternatives for mental clarity that you've used with success don't cause the additional unwanted physical side effects that come with regular stimulants like caffeine?

  • Where can I get a metal mug to fit my USB mug warmer?

    I got one of these for Christmas (this exact model): But it doesn't work very well with normal ceramic mugs as they're too thick and insulated. What I really want is a mug like this that fits well and transmits the heat from the warmer to my drink (so no air gaps or thick bases): Where can I get a mug like the one pictured above from? I like in the UK but don't mind ordering from overseas. Update: I've tried camping mugs but they all seem to be too wide. I will measure the base later and post exact dimensions. I am really after the exact mug shown in the picture, it must exist somewhere?

    I am trying to use blender to simulate the Lycurgus Cup. The cup is an example of dichroic (two-color) glass, and appears green when a light source is on the outside of the cup, and appears red when a light source is inside the cup. Here is an image of when light is outside and it appears green: Here is an image of when light is inside and it appears red: I have created a glass cup in blender. I have made the glass a red color, and then used the colorbands under the Object-Material/Shading-Ramps tab to add green specular and diffuse color. However, this makes the glass appear the same mix of red and green whether I put the light source on the inside or outside the cup. An example can be seen here: According to the second post here, someone was able to to fake the effect of a dichroic glass in blender rather easily through the use of a magic procedural texture but they provide no clues on how to do this (in blender). Does anyone know how to achieve this effect in blender?

    Hi, I have the input file contains large amount of transactions like Transaction ID Items T1 Bread, milk, coffee, juice T2 Juice, milk, coffee T3 Bread, juice T4 Coffee, milk T5 Bread, Milk T6 Coffee, Bread T7 Coffee, Bread, Juice T8 Bread, Milk, Juice T9 Milk, Bread, Coffee, T10 Bread T11 Milk T12 Milk, Coffee, Bread, Juice i want the occurrence of every unique item like Item Name Count Bread 9 Milk 8 Coffee 7 Juice 6 and from that i want an a fp-tree now by traversing this tree i want the maximal frequent itemsets as follows The basic idea of method is to dispose nodes in each “layer” from bottom to up. The concept of “layer” is different to the common concept of layer in a tree. Nodes in a “layer” mean the nodes correspond to the same item and be in a linked list from the “Head Table”. For nodes in a “layer” NBN method will be used to dispose the nodes from left to right along the linked list. To use NBN method, two extra fields will be added to each node in the ordered FP-Tree. The field tag of node N stores the information of whether N is maximal frequent itemset, and the field count’ stores the support count information in the nodes at left. In Figure, the first node to be disposed is “juice: 2”. If the min_sup is equal to or less than 2 then “bread, milk, coffee, juice” is a maximal frequent itemset. Firstly output juice:2 and set the field tag of “coffee:3” as “false” (the field tag of each node is “true” initially ). Next check whether the right four itemsets juice:1 be the subset of juice:2. If the itemset one node “juice:1” corresponding to is the subset of juice:2 set the field tag of the node “false”. In the following process when the field tag of the disposed node is FALSE we can omit the node after the same tagging. If the min_sup is more than 2 then check whether the right four juice:1 is the subset of juice:2. If the itemset one node “juice:1” corresponding to is the subset of juice:2 then set the field count’ of the node with the sum of the former count’ and 2 After all the nodes “juice” disposed ,begin to dispose the node “coffee:3”.   • Has RFC2324 been implemented?

    I know RFC2324 was an April Fools joke. However, it seems pretty well thought out, and after reading it I figured it wouldn't be out of the question to design an automated coffee machine that used this extension to HTTP. We programmers love to reference this RFC when arguing web standards ("418 I'm a Teapot lolz!") but the joke's kind of on us. Ubiquitous computing research assumes that network-connected coffee machines are probably going to be quite common in the future, along with Internet-connected fruit and just about everything else. Has anyone actually implemented a coffee machine that is controlled via HTCPCP? Not necessarily commercial, but hacked together in a garage, maybe? I'm not talking about just a web server that responds to HTCPCP requests; I mean a real coffee machine that actually makes coffee. I haven't seen an example of that.
