  • Is WordPress MVC compliant?

    Some people consider WordPress a blogging platform, some think of it as a CMS, some refer to WordPress as a development framework. Whichever it is, the question still remains. Is WordPress MVC compliant? I've read the forums and somebody asked about MVC about three years ago. There were some positive answers, and some negative ones. While nobody knows exactly what MVC is and everybody thinks of it in their own way, there's still a general concept that's present in all the discussions. I have little experience with MVC frameworks and there doesn't seem to be anything about the framework itself. Most of the MVC is done by the programmer, am I right? Now, going back to WordPress, could we consider the core rewrite engine (WP_Rewrite) the controller? Queries & plugin logic as the model? And themes as the view? Or am I getting it all wrong? There are several servers (less than 20) and they are mostly CentOS5, but there are some RHEL4 and Solaris9 Sparc. I believe Tripwire, Inc. is the leader in this area, but I am looking for additional options, both commercial and FOSS. Please include your experience reasons for using the software you recommend.

    I have been working through projects involving packages that do all the web design stuff for me for the past few years. I will admit that I have not been able to focus any on actual web design. I was wondering what the standard is these days for website layouts. Are layout-tables looked down upon now? Or are all layouts done with div tags and controlled through CSS? Are frames even used anymore? Note I am not talking about chart-table tables when I say layout tables.

  • How to setup an hibernate project using annotations compliant with JPA2.0

    I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans.     Hi all, I'm trying to pass some files from one app to another. I communicate the path (via a custom URL). The target application cannot read the file, citing errno 13 (permission denied). I've checked the permissions on file - they're 0644 (O+R), the permissions on directories all the way up to the root are 755 (O+RX). From a POSIX perspective, the file should be readable to any process and any user. Yet it's not. Any ideas, please? I can think of some workarounds. I could use a Web service (upload, get a cookie, communicate the cookie to the other app, other app downloads). I could also pass the actual file data in the URL - unelegant, and probably subject to length limitations. Clipboard is not supported on iPhone OS 2 IIRC.

  • Are your redirects HTTP compliant (absolute URI)?

    In the Hypertext Transfer Protocol 1.1 spec, it states for the Location header: The field value consists of a single absolute URI. Location = "Location" ":" absoluteURI An example is: Location: http://www.w3.org/pub/WWW/People.html I have coded many an app that doesn't include the scheme and domain (i.e., /thankyou/) and every browser I've ever tested with redirects correctly. I'm wondering if it's imperative to go back and change all my redirect code or just ignore this part of the spec. Have many of you produced code that doesn't comply and will you go back and change it? Or will you just trust that clients will continue to resolve them well into the future? (going forward I will certainly adhere to this)

  • How do I set up live audio streams to a DLNA compliant device?

    Is there a way to stream the live output of the soundcard from our 12.04.1 LTS amd64 desktop to a DLNA-compliant external device in our network? Selecting media content in shared directories using Rygel, miniDLNA, and uShare is always fine - but so far we completely failed to get a live audio stream to a client via DLNA. Pulseaudio claims to have a DLNA/UPnP media server that together with Rygel is supposed to do just this. But we were unable to get it running. We followed the steps outlined in live.gnome.org, this answer here, and also in another similar guide. As soon as we select the local audio device, or our GST-Launch stream in the DLNA client Rygel displays the following message and the client states it reached the end of the playlist: (rygel:7380): Rygel-WARNING **: rygel-http-request.vala:97: Invalid seek request This is how we configured GST-Launch in rygel.conf: [GstLaunch] enabled=true launch-items=mypulseaudiosink mypulseaudiosink-title=Audio on @HOSTNAME@ mypulseaudiosink-mime=audio/x-wav mypulseaudiosink-launch=pulsesrc device=<device> ! wavpackenc For <device> we tried with the default sink name, this name appended with .monitor, and in addition with upnp-sink and upnp.monitor that was created when we selected DLNA media server from paprefs. We also tried to encode using lamemp3enc with no luck.   • Possibility of language data type not mapped to shipped .NET Framework?

    Does anybody know of a managed programming language implemented on .NET that contains a specialized data type that is not mapped through to the Common Type System/FCL/BCL or one that does not have a shipped .NET equivalent (e.g. shipped standard types like System.String, System.Int32)? This question would likely come from the perspective of someone porting a compiler (although I'm not doing that). Is it as simple as the language creating a new data type outside the BCL/FCL for its specialized type? If so does this hinder interoperability between programming languages that are otherwise accustomed to mapping all their built-in data types to what's in the BCL/FCL, like Visual Basic and C#? I can imagine this situation might come about if an obscure language compiler of some kind is ported to .NET for which there is no direct mapping of one of its implicit data types to the shipped Framework. How is this situation supported or allowed in general? What would be the expectation of the compiler and the Common Language Runtime?

  • Do ASP.Net Web Forms actually produce ADA compliant HTML? Does the ASP/AJAX toolkit undermine the goal of ADA compliance?

    I'm trying to convince my employer to let us use the Microsoft ASP/AJAX toolkit since it simplifies the implementation of many controls. However they have rejected the idea on the grounds that it produces "AJAX code" which is not ADA compliant. However the same employer requires webpages to be written in ASP.NET Web Forms which, as far as I can tell from the source, is very very far from ADA compliance. I am new to both web programming and ADA compliance. My questions are: Do ASP.Net Web Forms actually produce ADA compliant HTML? Will the ASP/AJAX toolkit undermine the goal of ADA compliance?

  • Is quoted-printable enough to make a mail compliant with the line-length-restriction posed in RFC 2822?

    In RFC 2822 (defining E-Mail) is defined, that no line SHOULD be longer than 78 chars (excluding CRLF) and MUST not longer than 998 characters. With quoted-printable longer lines will be broken into more lines, ending each with a '=' until the real linebreak is reached. Conforms a mail to the standard, if it contains lines longer than 78 (or 998) characters but is encoded with quoted-printable? There are arguments, that this isn't compliant, because the receiving mail-client has longer lines after decoding the quoted-printable message.

    I noticed that some stylesheets have something like this: body { font-size: 62.5%/1.2em; } I got a warning "unexpected token /" when I wrote this in NetBeans. And if I changed the EM value, say, body { font-size: 62.5%/1em; } the computed font-size remained 16px. My question is, Is it standard compliant to write something like that? And how to computed the actual font-size?

    I get this error when I try to run my app: 2010-04-29 13:49:01.355 MyApp[56123:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[<MyViewController 0x5112b10> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key toolbar.' MyViewController used to have an IBOutlet called 'toolbar' that connected to a UIToolbar object in a nib. I decided I no longer needed the toolbar or the nib so I removed them from the project. But Xcode seems to still want to refer to 'toolbar'. Where might the reference to toolbar be if I no longer use a nib? I can synthesize a dummy 'toolbar' property to appease Xcode, but I want to avoid this kind of ugly hack.

  • Can you create a HIPAA compliant Amazon S3 Web Application?

    I am facing some questions when trying to design an S3 application using ASP.NET MVC and trying to stay HIPAA compliant. My initial plan was to require an SSL connection to my web server, encrypt the images on my server, then send them to s3 using my private keys. Here's my obvious concerns: You cannot store unencrypted images in any temporary file cache when client views images within the browser. Even if I setup an ashx to generically handle the image in memory, couldn't this get stored in cache? Saying the images will be encrpyted because you will be connecting to my server via https still does not guarantee all browsers will not cache data. It's not possible to even consider the "Query String" with expiration option since data will be encrypted before being stored on disk at s3, and will again be decrypted at my server in memory. I think my only option would be to write/purchase some sort of ActiveX component that will not expose the image as a simple html image source or write my app as a client side WinForm application.

  • Does an HTTPS SharePoint Site Need to Use HTTPS-Compliant Web Parts?

    I am new to SharePoint, so this question may be a little naive. However, I sincerely appreciate any help with this. We are planning to create a new sub-site within our company's intranet site, which is built on SharePoint 2007. We want to add a 3rd-party weather web part (which is just a widget to display the local weather forecast) to the home page of the new intranet site. Since the intranet site uses HTTPS, do we need to find an HTTPS-compliant web part? Or, is it possible to use any web part and then configure it to use HTTPS? I'm assuming that if we use a non-HTTPS web part, then users will get some sort of "This page contains both secure and non-secure items" error message when they load the page.

    Say I'd like a mutable, unordered to-many relationship. For internal optimization reasons, it'd be best to store this in an NSMutableDictionary rather than an NSMutableSet. But I'd like to keep that implementation detail private. I'd also like to provide some KVO-compliant accessors, so: - (NSSet*)things; - (NSUInteger)countOfThings; - (void)addThings:(NSSet*)someThings; - (void)removeThings:(NSSet*)someThings; Now, it'd be convenient and less evil to provide accessors (private ones, of course, in my implementation file) for the dictionary as well, so: @interface MYClassWithThings () @property (retain) NSMutableDictionary* keyedThings; @end This seems good to me! I can use accessors to mess with my keyedThings within the class, but other objects think they're dealing with a mutable, unordered (, unkeyed!) to-many relationship. I'm concerned that several things I'm doing may be "evil" though, according to good style and Apple approval and whatnot. Have I done anything evil here? (For example, is it wrong not to provide setThings, since the things property is supposedly mutable?)
