  • CLLocation is not nil but trying to print it out throws EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by nefsu
    Sorry, this may be a noob question but I'm working with CoreLocation and this has be stumped. I'm looking up the currentLocation using a singleton that was recommended on this site and when I get the currentLocation object, it returns true to a not nil check. However, when I try to print out its description, it throws EXC_BAD_ACCESS. //WORKS Current location 8.6602e-290 NSLog(@"Current location %g",currLoc); //DOESN'T WORK NSLog(@"Current location %@",[currLoc description]); //DOESN'T WORK - Is this causing the description to fail as well? NSLog(@"Current location %g",currLoc.coordinate.latitude); Why am I able to see something on the first one but not the others? BTW, this is being run on a 3.1.2 simulator Thanks.

  • Memory over-release problem when I am animating UIView

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have enabled NSZombie's and I am getting the following message in my console when I am running my application: *** -[UIViewAnimationState release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0xf96d7e0 Here is the method that is performing the animation -(void)loadAvatar:(STObject*)st { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; avatar.alpha = 0; avatar.frame = avatarRectSmall; avatar.image = [ImageCache getMemoryCachedImageAtUrl:st.avatar_url]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.50]; avatar.frame = avatarRectNormal; [avatar setAlpha:1]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [pool release]; pool = nil; } I don't always get a crash, only sometimes. I'm wondering what is getting released?

  • exc_bad_access on insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext

    - by matthewc
    I have a garbage collected Cocoa application built on 10.5 frameworks. In an NSOperation In a loop I am quickly creating hundreds of NSManagedObjects. Frequently the creation of those NSManagedObejcts will crash with a exc_bad_access error. for (offsetCount; offsetCount < [parsedData count]; offsetCount++) { NSManagedObject *child = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Thread" inManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; Thumbnail *thumb = [Thumbnail insertInManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; Image *image = [Image insertInManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; ... } Thumbnail and Image are both subclasses of NSManagedObject generated with mogenerator. insertInManagedObjectContext: looks like NSParameterAssert(moc_); return [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Thumbnail" inManagedObjectContext:moc_]; NSParameterAssert(moc_); return [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Image" inManagedObjectContext:moc_]; The NSManagedObjectContext returned by [self moc] is created for the NSOperation with NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *coord = [(MyApp_AppDelegate *)[[NSApplication sharedApplication] delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]; self.moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [self.moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:coord]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:self.moc]; [self.moc setMergePolicy:NSMergeByPropertyObjectTrumpMergePolicy]; [self.moc setUndoManager:nil]; [self.moc setRetainsRegisteredObjects:YES]; moc is defined as (nonatomic, retain) and synthesized. As far as I can tell it, the persistent store and my appDelegate have no reason to be and are not being garbage collected. • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. I sincerely appreciate any help I can get: #import "WorkoutViewController.h" #import "MoveListViewController.h" #import "Profile.h" static sqlite3 *database = nil; @implementation WorkoutViewController @synthesize todaysWorkouts; @synthesize woNoteCell; @synthesize bi; //@synthesize woSwitchCell; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; bi = [[BIUtility alloc] init]; todaysWorkouts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *query; sqlite3_stmt *statement; //open the database if (sqlite3_open([[BIUtility getDBPath] UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to opendatabase"); } query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT IWORKOUT.WOINSTANCEID, IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID, CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTNAME FROM CWORKOUTS JOIN IWORKOUT ON IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID = CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTID AND DATE = '%@'", [BIUtility todayDateString]]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { Workout *wo = [[Workout alloc] init]; wo.woInstanceID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); wo.workoutID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 1); wo.workoutName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(statement, 2)]; [todaysWorkouts addObject:wo]; [wo release]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } if(database) sqlite3_close(database); [query release]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //todaysWorkouts = [BIUtility todaysScheduledWorkouts]; static NSString *noteCellIdentifier = @"NoteCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"OtherCell"]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier: @"OtherCell"] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } if (indexPath.row == 0) { Workout *wo = [todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; [cell.textLabel setText:wo.workoutName]; } else { [cell.textLabel setText:@"Completed?"]; [cell.textLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:15]]; [cell.textLabel setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } } else { cell = (NoteCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:noteCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"NoteCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } } return cell; //[cell release]; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 0)) { MoveListViewController *moveListController = [[MoveListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; moveListController.workoutID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutID]; moveListController.workoutName = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]; moveListController.woInstanceID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] woInstanceID]; NSLog(@"Workout Selected: %@", [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]); Bring_ItAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.workoutNavController pushViewController:moveListController animated:YES]; } else { UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 1)) { if (cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryNone) { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark; } else { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } } } [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSInteger h = 35; return h; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return ([todaysWorkouts count] + 1); //return ([todaysWorkouts count]); } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return 2; } else { return 1; } } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return @"Workout"; } else { return @"How Was Your Workout?"; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview.   • iPhone: Accessing Composite Name in AddressBook Causes EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Fyrian
    Hi everyone. I'm new to iPhone development and have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have a programmer working on an iPhone app for me and when I run the app in the simulator, it works great. But when I try to run it on my actual iPhone, I get a EXC_BAD_ACCESS error and the app locks up. Looking at the debugger, it's referencing the following code in my MainController as the problem: -(void)loadAddressBook{ NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; addressBookLoaded=1; [AddressbookRecord readAllContactTable:[self getDBPath]]; ABAddressBookRef addressBook = ABAddressBookCreate(); for(NSUInteger i=1;i<=ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(addressBook);i++) { ABRecordRef myPerson =ABAddressBookGetPersonWithRecordID (addressBook,(ABRecordID)(i)); NSString *name = (NSString*)ABRecordCopyCompositeName(myPerson); //save in database AddressbookRecord *addObj = [[AddressbookRecord alloc] initWithPrimaryKey:0]; addObj.ClientName=name; [addObj addNewContactEntry]; } addressBookLoaded=2; [pool release]; } More specifically, it points to this specific line as the problem: NSString *name =(NSString*)ABRecordCopyCompositeName(myPerson); My programmer can't seem to figure out what the problem is since he can't replicate it on his end. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this problem??? Thanks!

  • iPhone app throwing EXC_BAD_ACCESS with dictionary from contents of file

Thanks in advance!

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS when I change moviePlayer contentURL

    - by Bruno
    Hello, In few words, my application is doing that : 1) My main view (MovieListController) has some video thumbnails and when I tap on one, it displays the moviePlayer (MoviePlayerViewController) : MovieListController.h : @interface MoviePlayerViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate>{ UIView *viewForMovie; MPMoviePlayerController *player; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIView *viewForMovie; @property (nonatomic, retain) MPMoviePlayerController *player; - (NSURL *)movieURL; @end MovieListController.m : MoviePlayerViewController *controllerTV = [[MoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MoviePlayerViewController" bundle:nil]; controllerTV.delegate = self; controllerTV.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController: controllerTV animated: YES]; [controllerTV release]; 2) In my moviePlayer, I initialize the video I want to play MoviePlayerViewController.m : @implementation MoviePlayerViewController @synthesize player; @synthesize viewForMovie; - (void)viewDidLoad { NSLog(@"start"); [super viewDidLoad]; self.player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] init]; self.player.view.frame = self.viewForMovie.bounds; self.player.view.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; [self.viewForMovie addSubview:player.view]; self.player.contentURL = [self movieURL]; } - (void)dealloc { NSLog(@"dealloc TV"); [player release]; [viewForMovie release]; [super dealloc]; } -(NSURL *)movieURL { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *moviePath = [bundle pathForResource:@"FR_Tribord_Surf camp_100204" ofType:@"mp4"]; if (moviePath) { return [NSURL fileURLWithPath:moviePath]; } else { return nil; } } - It's working good, my movie is display My problem : When I go back to my main view : - (void) returnToMap: (MoviePlayerViewController *) controller { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: YES]; } And I tap in a thumbnail to display again the moviePlayer (MoviePlayerViewController), I get a *Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”.* In my debugger I saw that it's stopping on the thread "main" : // // main.m // MoviePlayer // // Created by Eric Freeman on 3/27/10. // Copyright Apple Inc 2010. All rights reserved. // #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; int retVal = UIApplicationMain(argc, argv, nil, nil); //EXC_BAD_ACCESS [pool release]; return retVal; } If I comment self.player.contentURL = [self movieURL]; it's working, but when I let it, iI have this problem. I read that it's due to null pointer or memory problem but I don't understand why it's working the first time and not the second time. I release my object in dealloc method. Thanks for your help ! Bruno.

  • Singleton array deallocated? EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by lclaud
    Ok, so I have this singleton object and in it is an array that needs to be shown in a tableview. The thing is that it deallocates and after the first show, i get EXC_BAD_ACCESS in cellForRowAtIndexPath - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell=[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"celula"]; int i; i=indexPath.row; if (cell==nil) { cell=[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue1 reuseIdentifier:@"celula"]; } count sent to dealocated instance of CFArray .. in cellForRowAtIndexPath.. WHAT is deallocating it? why? it's declarea as an NSMutableArray and has a (nonatomic,retain) property defined .. if ((i<[[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive count])&&(i>=0)) { NSDictionary *d=[[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive objectAtIndex:i]; cell.textLabel.text=[d objectForKey:@"detaliu"]; } return cell; }

  • CGContextDrawImage returning bad access

    - by Marcelo
    Hello guys, I've been trying to blend two UIImage for about 2 days now and I've been getting some BAD_ACCESS errors. First of all, I have two images that have the same orientation, basically I'm using the CoreGraphics to do the blending. One curious detail, everytime I modify the code, the first time I compile and run it on device, I get to do everything I want without any sort of trouble. Once I restart the application, I get error and the program shuts down. Can anyone give me a light? I tried accessing the baseImage sizes dynamically, but it gives me bad access too. Here's a snippet of how I'm doing the blending. UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(CGSizeMake(320, 480)); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0, 480); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [baseImage CGImage]); CGContextSetBlendMode(context, kCGBlendModeOverlay); CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [tmpImage CGImage]); [transformationView setImage:UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext()]; UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

  • CoreData : App crashes when deleting last instance created

    - by Leo
    Hello, I have a 2 tabs application. In the first one, I'm creating objects of the "Sample" and "SampleList" entities. Each sampleList contains an ID and a set of samples. Each sample contains a date and temperature property. In the second tab, I'm displaying my data in a tableView. I implemented the - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath method in order to delete SampleLists. In my xcdatamodel the delete rule for my relationship between SampleList and Sample is Cascade. My problem is that when I try to delete SampleList I just created, the app crashes and I receive a EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. If I restart it, then I'm able to delete "old" sampleList without any problems. Earlier, I had the following problem : I couldn't display the the sampleLists I created since I launched the app, because it crashed too. I received also the EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. Actually, it seemed that the date of the last sample created of the set was nil. If I am not releasing the NSDate I'm using to set the sample's date, I don't have this problem anymore... If anyone could help me to find out what could cause my troubles it would be great !! Here is the method I'm using to create new instances : SampleList *newSampleList = (SampleList *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"SampleList" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [newSampleList setPatchID:patchID]; NSMutableSet *newSampleSet = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; for (int i = 0; i < [byteArray count]; i=i+4, sampleCount++) { NSDateComponents *comps = [[NSDateComponents alloc] init]; [comps setYear:year]; [comps setMonth:month]; [comps setDay:day]; [comps setHour:hours]; [comps setMinute:minutes]; NSDate *sampleDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents:comps]; Sample *newSample = (Sample *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Sample" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [newSample setSampleDate:sampleDate]; [newSample setSampleTemperature:[NSNumber numberWithInt:temperature]]; [newSampleSet addObject:newSample]; [comps release]; //[sampleDate release]; } [newSampleList setSampleSet:newSampleSet]; // [newSampleSet release]; NSError *error; if (![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Could not Save the context !!"); } [gregorian release];

  • Tracking EXC_BAD_ACCESS on iPad

    - by Aleks
    I've been using this code to create my UIWindow UIMyWindow* win = [[UIMyWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; UIMyWindow isn't anything special it just has a pointer to a C++ class that does some wrapping of ObjectiveC. Recently my application start crashing after adding some line of code that doesn't have to do anything with the error. The line of code that I added is just allocating a C++ object but the program execution never reaches this line. Interesting enough my code works in Release. My only guess is that I made some memory corruption on a completely different place. My questions are: What type of memory corruption that can be? And is there some good practices to track them down?

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS on button press for button dynamically added to UIView within UIScrollView

    - by alan
    OK. It's an iPad app. Within the DetailViewController I have added a UIScrollView through IB and within that UIScrollView I have added a UIView (also added through IB) which holds various dynamically added UITableViews, UILabels and UIButtons. My problem is that I'm getting errors on the UIButton clicks. I have defined this method: - (void)translationSearch:(id)sender { NSLog(@"in transearch"); [self doSearch]; } This is how I'm adding the UIButton to the UIView: UIButton *translationButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; translationButton.frame = CGRectMake(6, 200, 200, 20); translationButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [translationButton setTitle:@"testing" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [translationButton addTarget:self action:@selector(translationSearch:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [verbView addSubview:translationButton]; Now the button is added to the form without any issue but, when I press it, I am getting an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. I'm sure it's staring me in the face but I've passed my usual time limit for getting a bug like this fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think is the fact that the UIButton is within a UIView which is within a UIScrollView which is within the view controller is somehow causing an issue. Cheers.

  • Simple calculator app crashes when a third number key is punched.

    Hi , I am a newbie to the iphone app world. So I thought I try my luck with a calculator app. Unfortunately I am running into an issue where if I press a third key in the calculator the app crashes. Sometimes I get this error EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Here is a code in my CalculatorViewController.m file. #import "CalculatorViewController.h" @implementation CalculatorViewController @synthesize screenText; - (IBAction)buttonPressed:(id)sender { NSString *title = [sender titleForState:UIControlStateNormal]; [self collect:title]; } - (void)collect:(NSString *)digitz { NSString * newText = nil; if ([digitz isEqualToString:@"+"]) { [self add:result]; big_digit = nil; } else if ([digitz isEqualToString:@"+"]) { [self sub:result]; } else if ([digitz isEqualToString:@"x"]) { [self multiply:result]; } else if ([digitz isEqualToString:@"="]) { [self equate:result]; } else { if (big_digit != nil && [big_digit isEqualToString:@"0"] == FALSE) big_digit = [big_digit stringByAppendingFormat:@"%@",digitz]; else big_digit = (NSMutableString *) digitz; result = (int) big_digit; newText = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"%@",big_digit]; } screenText.text = newText; [newText release]; } - (void)add:(int)res { NSString * newText = nil; ans = ans + res; newText = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"%@",ans]; screenText.text = newText; [newText release]; } Can anyone spot an obvious issue here.   • UI View Controller crashes after interruption

    - by nosuic
    Given the multitasking of iOS I thought it wouldn't be a pain to pause and resume my app, by pressing the home button or due to a phone call, but for a particular view controller it crashes. The navigation bar is working fine i.e. when I tap "Back" it's ok, but if I try to tap controls of the displayed UI View Controller then I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS.. =/ Please find the code of my problematic View Controller below. I'm not very sure about it myself, because I used loadView to build its View, but apart from this interruption problem it works fine. • Core Animation bad access on device

    - by user1595102
    I'm trying to do a frame by frame animation with CAlayers. I'm doing this with this tutorial http://mysterycoconut.com/blog/2011/01/cag1/ but everything works with disable ARC, when I'm try to rewrite code with ARC, it's works on simulator perfectly but on device I got a bad access memory. Layer Class interface #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> @interface MCSpriteLayer : CALayer { unsigned int sampleIndex; } // SampleIndex needs to be > 0 @property (readwrite, nonatomic) unsigned int sampleIndex; // For use with sample rects set by the delegate + (id)layerWithImage:(CGImageRef)img; - (id)initWithImage:(CGImageRef)img; // If all samples are the same size + (id)layerWithImage:(CGImageRef)img sampleSize:(CGSize)size; - (id)initWithImage:(CGImageRef)img sampleSize:(CGSize)size; // Use this method instead of sprite.sampleIndex to obtain the index currently displayed on screen - (unsigned int)currentSampleIndex; @end Layer Class implementation @implementation MCSpriteLayer @synthesize sampleIndex; - (id)initWithImage:(CGImageRef)img; { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { self.contents = (__bridge id)img; sampleIndex = 1; } return self; } + (id)layerWithImage:(CGImageRef)img; { MCSpriteLayer *layer = [(MCSpriteLayer*)[self alloc] initWithImage:img]; return layer ; } - (id)initWithImage:(CGImageRef)img sampleSize:(CGSize)size; { self = [self initWithImage:img]; if (self != nil) { CGSize sampleSizeNormalized = CGSizeMake(size.width/CGImageGetWidth(img), size.height/CGImageGetHeight(img)); self.bounds = CGRectMake( 0, 0, size.width, size.height ); self.contentsRect = CGRectMake( 0, 0, sampleSizeNormalized.width, sampleSizeNormalized.height ); } return self; } + (id)layerWithImage:(CGImageRef)img sampleSize:(CGSize)size; { MCSpriteLayer *layer = [[self alloc] initWithImage:img sampleSize:size]; return layer; } + (BOOL)needsDisplayForKey:(NSString *)key; { return [key isEqualToString:@"sampleIndex"]; } // contentsRect or bounds changes are not animated + (id < CAAction >)defaultActionForKey:(NSString *)aKey; { if ([aKey isEqualToString:@"contentsRect"] || [aKey isEqualToString:@"bounds"]) return (id < CAAction >)[NSNull null]; return [super defaultActionForKey:aKey]; } - (unsigned int)currentSampleIndex; { return ((MCSpriteLayer*)[self presentationLayer]).sampleIndex; } // Implement displayLayer: on the delegate to override how sample rectangles are calculated; remember to use currentSampleIndex, ignore sampleIndex == 0, and set the layer's bounds - (void)display; { if ([self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(displayLayer:)]) { [self.delegate displayLayer:self]; return; } unsigned int currentSampleIndex = [self currentSampleIndex]; if (!currentSampleIndex) return; CGSize sampleSize = self.contentsRect.size; self.contentsRect = CGRectMake( ((currentSampleIndex - 1) % (int)(1/sampleSize.width)) * sampleSize.width, ((currentSampleIndex - 1) / (int)(1/sampleSize.width)) * sampleSize.height, sampleSize.width, sampleSize.height ); } @end I create the layer on viewDidAppear and start animate by clicking on button, but after init I got a bad access error -(void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"mama_default.png" ofType:nil]; CGImageRef richterImg = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:path].CGImage; CGSize fixedSize = animacja.frame.size; NSLog(@"wid: %f, heigh: %f", animacja.frame.size.width, animacja.frame.size.height); NSLog(@"%f", animacja.frame.size.width); richter = [MCSpriteLayer layerWithImage:richterImg sampleSize:fixedSize]; animacja.hidden = 1; richter.position = animacja.center; [self.view.layer addSublayer:richter]; } -(IBAction)animacja:(id)sender { if ([richter animationForKey:@"sampleIndex"]) {NSLog(@"jest"); } if (! [richter animationForKey:@"sampleIndex"]) { CABasicAnimation *anim = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"sampleIndex"]; anim.fromValue = [NSNumber numberWithInt:0]; anim.toValue = [NSNumber numberWithInt:22]; anim.duration = 4; anim.repeatCount = 1; [richter addAnimation:anim forKey:@"sampleIndex"]; } } Have you got any idea how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

  • App crashes every second time a tableview row is selected in navigation controller setup

    - by Thaurin
    Disclaimer first: I'm pretty new to Objective-C and the retain model. I've been developing in a garbage collected .NET environment for the last five years, so I've been spoiled. I'm still learning. I'm having my iPhone app crash with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. It happens in a navigtation controller/tableview setup. When I select a row the first time, no problems. It switches in the child controller without problems. I go back and select the same row again. Program then proceeds to crash. Every other row works fine, but every second time a row is accessed, it's a crash. I've pinpointed the location where this happens. The child controller (which is a class that I reuse for every row of the same type) that's being switched into has an array of NSString's representing the rows that will be displayed. I set it before pushing the child viewcontroller. It's there where this apparently happens. I'm having a hard time debugging this problem, still wrestling with xcode and all. I fear there may be some vital information missing here, but maybe there is something you recognize here.

  • Trying to trigger php script, get EXC_BAD_ACCESS iPhone development

    - by Brennan Kastner
    This below is my code, when it gets to the end of the function, the debugger throws an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error and when I check the website's logs, the url was never visited. If anyone could help me fix this issue, it would be greatly appreciated: -(IBAction)submitEmail:(id)sender { NSString *urlStringRaw = [[NSString alloc] init]; urlStringRaw = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://vedev.org/AnonMail/sendEmail.php?from=%@&to=%@&subject=%@&body=%@", from.text, to.text, subject.text, bodyContent.text]; NSString *urlString = [urlStringRaw stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [urlStringRaw release]; NSURL * url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; [urlString release]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [url release]; NSURLConnection *connection = [NSURLConnection connectionWithRequest:requestObj delegate:nil]; [connection release]; [requestObj release]; }

  • Why am I getting a EXC_BAD_ACCESS in a NSTimer selector?

    - by AngeDeLaMort
    I've got quite a weird problem. To make it short, i'll write some pseudo-code: init: create a dictionary and insert n elements. create a "repeat timer" and add it to the currentRunLoop using the timerRefresh selector. timerRefresh: using a list of keys, find the items in the dictionary if the item exists -> call a function So, for an unknown reason, I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS when I do: [item function]; But I traced the address I got from the dictionary items and it's ok. The ref count of the items in the dictionary is still 1. The {release, dealloc} of the items in the dictionary aren't called. Everything seems fine. Also, to make it worst, it works for some items. So, I'm wondering if there is a threading problem? or something else obscure? The callstack is quite simple: #0 0x93e0604b in objc_msgSend_fpret #1 0x00f3e6b0 in ?? #2 0x0001cfca in -[myObject functionm:] at myObject.m:000 #3 0x305355cd in __NSFireTimer #4 0x302454a0 in CFRunLoopRunSpecific #5 0x30244628 in CFRunLoopRunInMode #6 0x32044c31 in GSEventRunModal #7 0x32044cf6 in GSEventRun #8 0x309021ee in UIApplicationMain #9 0x000027e0 in main at main.m:14 So, any suggestion where to look would be appreciated.

  • wordexp followed by strcpy = EXC_BAD_ACCESS + sharedlibrary apply-load-rules-all

    - by fyngyrz
    The implication is a memory problem. I have static allocations for these: char akdir[400]; char homedir[400]; This crashes on the first strcpy(): void setuplibfoo() { long ii; double x; wordexp_t result; // This obtains the user's home directory // -------------------------------------- homedir[0]=0; // in case wordexp fails switch (wordexp("~/",&result,0)) { case 0: // Successful. We'll fall into deallocate when done. { strcpy(homedir,result.we_wordv[0]); // <<--- CRASH! strcpy(akdir,homedir); strcat(akdir,"ak-plugins/"); vs_status(akdir); } case WRDE_NOSPACE: // If the error was WRDE_NOSPACE, then { // perhaps part of the result was allocated. wordfree (&result); } default: // all other errors do not require deallocation { break; } } ...additional code clipped.. doesn't get there on crash. This is in a shared library I've written that is linked to my application, also something I've written. In this case, it doesn't get very far, although if it starts, it's fine. ...I've read the wordexp docs several times; they say they allocate new objects, so you just set up that type and call them with the address. The switch error model is right from the wordexp docs: http://www.gnu.org/s/libc/manual/html_mono/libc.html#Wordexp-Example It doesn't always crash. Just sometimes, and just under 10.6. Never under 10.5 I'm building debug mode with XCode 3.1.1, under OSX 10.5.8 it seems to run ok, I've not seen a crash -- under 10.6, it crashes... sometimes. But always with that same exception, and always in the same place. The Google has it that this actually means, somehow, that it's too soon to allocate memory. But all the instances I could find were memory errors on the part of the programmer. Overruns, etc. And I can't find any docs on when it IS safe to allocate memory. Now, the path that expands there is nowhere near 400 characters. it's this (it it completes): /Users/flake/ak-plugins/ and this: /Users/flake/ ...if it doesn't. the strcpy... copies 2nd param to first. Theirs to mine. And it works! under 10.5. :/ So is wordexp broke? Is 10.6 broke? Am I cRaZy? Here's the debugger output: 0x00013446 <+0049> call 0xc98da <dyld_stub_wordexp> 0x0001344b <+0054> test %eax,%eax 0x0001344d <+0056> je 0x13454 <setuplibfoo+63> 0x0001344f <+0058> jmp 0x134da <setuplibfoo+197> 0x00013454 <+0063> mov -0x1c(%ebp),%eax 0x00013457 <+0066> mov (%eax),%eax 0x00013459 <+0068> mov %eax,0x4(%esp) 0x0001345d <+0072> lea 0xb6cc2(%ebx),%eax 0x00013463 <+0078> mov (%eax),%eax 0x00013465 <+0080> mov %eax,(%esp) 0x00013468 <+0083> call 0xc9898 <dyld_stub_strcpy> 0x0001346d <+0088> lea 0xb6cc2(%ebx),%eax <<--CRASH!

  • MapView EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) and KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS

    - by user768113
    I'm having some 'issues' with my application... well, it crashes in an UIViewController that is presented modally, there the user enters information through UITextFields and his location is tracked by a MapView. Lets call this view controller "MapViewController" When the user submits the form, I call a different ViewController - modally again - that processes this info and a third one answers accordingly, then go back to a MenuVC using unwinding segues, which then calls MapViewController and so on. This sequence is repeated many times, but it always crashes in MapViewController. Looking at the crash log, I think that the MapView can be the problem of this or some element in the UI (because of the UIKit framework). I tried to use NSZombie in order to track a memory issue but it doesn't give me a clue about whats happening. Here is the crash log Hardware Model: iPad3,4 Process: MyApp [2253] OS Version: iOS 6.1.3 (10B329) Report Version: 104 Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000044 Crashed Thread: 0 Thread 0 name: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Thread 0 Crashed: 0 IMGSGX554GLDriver 0x328b9be0 0x328ac000 + 56288 1 IMGSGX554GLDriver 0x328b9b8e 0x328ac000 + 56206deallocated instance 2 IMGSGX554GLDriver 0x328bc2f2 0x328ac000 + 66290 3 IMGSGX554GLDriver 0x328baf44 0x328ac000 + 61252 4 libGPUSupportMercury.dylib 0x370f86be 0x370f6000 + 9918 5 GLEngine 0x34ce8bd2 0x34c4f000 + 629714 6 GLEngine 0x34cea30e 0x34c4f000 + 635662 7 GLEngine 0x34c8498e 0x34c4f000 + 219534 8 GLEngine 0x34c81394 0x34c4f000 + 205716 9 VectorKit 0x3957f4de 0x394c7000 + 754910 10 VectorKit 0x3955552e 0x394c7000 + 582958 11 VectorKit 0x394d056e 0x394c7000 + 38254 12 VectorKit 0x394d0416 0x394c7000 + 37910 13 VectorKit 0x394cb7ca 0x394c7000 + 18378 14 VectorKit 0x394c9804 0x394c7000 + 10244 15 VectorKit 0x394c86a2 0x394c7000 + 5794 16 QuartzCore 0x354a07a4 0x35466000 + 239524 17 QuartzCore 0x354a06fc 0x35466000 + 239356 18 IOMobileFramebuffer 0x376f8fd4 0x376f4000 + 20436 19 IOKit 0x344935aa 0x34490000 + 13738 20 CoreFoundation 0x33875888 0x337e9000 + 575624 21 CoreFoundation 0x338803e4 0x337e9000 + 619492 22 CoreFoundation 0x33880386 0x337e9000 + 619398 23 CoreFoundation 0x3387f20a 0x337e9000 + 614922 24 CoreFoundation 0x337f2238 0x337e9000 + 37432 25 CoreFoundation 0x337f20c4 0x337e9000 + 37060 26 GraphicsServices 0x373ad336 0x373a8000 + 21302 27 UIKit 0x3570e2b4 0x356b7000 + 357044 28 MyApp 0x000ea12e 0xe9000 + 4398 29 MyApp 0x000ea0e4 0xe9000 + 4324 I think thats all, additionally, I would like to ask you: if you are using unwind segues then you are releasing view controllers from the memory heap, right? Meanwhile, performing segues let you instantiate those controllers. Technically, MenuVC should be the only VC alive in the heap during the app life cycle if you understand me.

  • C++ Initialize array in constructor EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by user890395
    I'm creating a simple constructor and initializing an array: // Construtor Cinema::Cinema(){ // Initalize reservations for(int i = 0; i < 18; i++){ for(int j = 0; j < 12; j++){ setReservation(i, j, 0); } } // Set default name setMovieName("N/A"); // Set default price setPrice(8); } The setReservation function: void Cinema::setReservation(int row, int column, int reservation){ this->reservations[row][column] = reservation; } The setMovieName function: void Cinema::setMovieName(std::string movieName){ this->movieName = movieName; } For some odd reason when I run the program, the setMovieName function gives the following error: "Program Received Signal: EXC_BAD_ACCESS" If I take out the for-loop that initializes the array of reservations, the problem goes away and the movie name is set without any problems. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? This is the Cinema.h file: #ifndef Cinema_h #define Cinema_h class Cinema{ private: int reservations[17][11]; std::string movieName; float price; public: // Construtor Cinema(); // getters/setters int getReservation(int row, int column); int getNumReservations(); std::string getMovieName(); float getPrice(); void setReservation(int row, int column, int reservation); void setMovieName(std::string movieName); void setPrice(float price); }; #endif
