• Launching python within python and timezone issue

  I had to make a launcher script for my django app, and it seems it somehow switches the timezone to GMT (default being +2), and every datetime is two hours behind when using the script. What could be causing that?   Hi All, Very new to this, and I have no idea where to start. I want to schedule a python script using Task Scheduler in Windows 7. When I add a "New Action", I place the following command as the script/program : c:\python25\python.exe As the argument, I add the full path to the location of my python script path\script.py Here is my script: import datetime import csv import os now = datetime.datetime.now() print str(now) os.chdir('C:/Users/Brock/Desktop/') print os.getcwd() writer = csv.writer(open("test task.csv", "wb")) row = ('This is a test', str(now)) writer.writerow(row) I got an error saying the script could not run. • accessing files after setup.py install

  I'm developing a python application and have a question regarding coding it so that it still works after an user has installed it on his or her machine via setup.py install or similar. In one of my files, I use the following: file = "TestParser/View/MainWindow.ui" cwd = os.getcwd() argv_path = os.path.dirname(sys.argv[0]) file_path = os.path.join(cwd, argv_path, file) in order to get the path to MainWindow.ui, when I only know the path relative to the main script's location. This works regardless of from where I call the main script. The issue is that after an user installs the application on his or her machine, the relative path is different, so this doesn't work. I could use __file__, but according to this, py2exe doesn't have __file__. Is there a standard way of achieving this? Or a better way?

• cURL PHP Proper SSL between private servers with self-signed certificate

  I originally had a connection between my 2 servers running with CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER set to "false" with no Common Name in the SSL cert to avoid errors. The following is the client code that connected to the server with the certificate: curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER,FALSE); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST,2); However, I recently changed this code (set it to true) and specified the computers certificate in PEM format. curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER,TRUE); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST,2); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_CAINFO,getcwd().'/includes/hostcert/Hostname.crt'); This worked great on the local network from a test machine, as the certificate is signed with it's hostname for a CN. How can I setup the PHP code so it only trusts the hostname computer and maintains a secure connection. I'm well aware you can just set CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST to "0" or "1" and CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER to "false", but these are not valid solutions as they break the SSL security.

• Python Threading, loading one thread after another

  Hi, I'm working on a media player and am able to load in a single .wav and play it. As seen in the code below. foo = wx.FileDialog(self, message="Open a .wav file...", defaultDir=os.getcwd(), defaultFile="", style=wx.FD_MULTIPLE) foo.ShowModal() queue = foo.GetPaths() self.playing_thread = threading.Thread(target=self.playFile, args=(queue[0], 'msg')) self.playing_thread.start() But the problem is, when I try to make the above code into a loop for multiple .wav files. Such that while playing_thread.isActive == True, create and .start() the thread. Then if .isActive == False, pop queue[0] and load the next .wav file. Problem is, my UI will lock up and I'll have to terminate the program. Any ideas would be appreciated.

• Celery daemon as a Ubuntu service does not consume tasks while running from terminal does

  On Ubuntu 11.10, I have to issue python tasks from django using celery. I also tried to add another php_admin_value[disable_functions] underneath it (hoping it would be appended), but that didn't work (it just used the first one).

• Using the groupby method in Python, example included

  Trying to work with groupby so that I can group together files that were created on the same day. When I say same day in this case, I mean the dd part in mm/dd/yyyy. So if a file was created on March 1 and April 1, they should be grouped together because the "1" matches. But then I'll see multiple groups with the same day. Meaning I might have 4 files grouped that were created on the 17th. Later on I'll see another unique set of 2 files that are also created on the 17th. Where am I going wrong?

• Python: How can I use Twisted as the transport for SUDS?

  I have a project that is based on Twisted used to communicate with network devices and I am adding support for a new vendor (Citrix NetScaler) whose API is SOAP. Unfortunately the support for SOAP in Twisted still relies on SOAPpy, which is badly out of date. In fact as of this question (I just checked), twisted.web.soap itself hasn't even been updated in 21 months! I would like to ask if anyone has any experience they would be willing to share with utilizing Twisted's superb asynchronous transport functionality with SUDS. It seems like plugging in a custom Twisted transport would be a natural fit in SUDS' Client.options.transport, I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around it. I did come up with a way to call the SOAP method with SUDS asynchronously by utilizing twisted.internet.threads.deferToThread(), but this feels like a hack to me. Here is an example of what I've done, to give you an idea: # netscaler is a module I wrote using suds to interface with NetScaler SOAP # Source: http://bitbucket.org/jathanism/netscaler-api/src import netscaler import os import sys from twisted.internet import reactor, defer, threads # netscaler.API is the class that sets up the suds.client.Client object host = 'netscaler.local' username = password = 'nsroot' wsdl_url = 'file://' + os.path.join(os.getcwd(), 'NSUserAdmin.wsdl') api = netscaler.API(host, username=username, password=password, wsdl_url=wsdl_url) results = [] errors = [] def handleResult(result): print '\tgot result: %s' % (result,) results.append(result) def handleError(err): sys.stderr.write('\tgot failure: %s' % (err,)) errors.append(err) # this converts the api.login() call to a Twisted thread. # api.login() should return True and is is equivalent to: # api.service.login(username=self.username, password=self.password) deferred = threads.deferToThread(api.login) deferred.addCallbacks(handleResult, handleError) reactor.run() This works as expected and defers return of the api.login() call until it is complete, instead of blocking.   'SOUP.IO' is not providing any api. So Iam trying to use 'PHP Curl' to login and submit data through PHP. Iam able to login the website successfully(through cUrl), but when I try to submit data through cUrl, it gives me error of 'invalid user'. When I tried to analysed the code and website, I came to know that cUrl is getting values of only 1-2 cookies. Where as when I open the same page in FireFox, it shows me 6-7 cookies related to 'SOUP.IO'. Can some one guide me how to get all these 7 cookies values. • Ignore folders with certain filetypes

  I'm trying in vain to rewrite my old Powershell script found here - "$_.extension -eq" not working as intended? - for Python.I have no Python experience or knowledge and my 'script' is a mess but it mostly works. The only thing missing is that I would like to be able to ignore folders which don't contain 'mp3s', or whichever filetype I specify. Here is what I have so far - import os, os.path, fnmatch path = raw_input("Path : ") for filename in os.listdir(path): if os.path.isdir(filename): os.chdir(filename) j = os.path.abspath(os.getcwd()) mp3s = fnmatch.filter(os.listdir(j), '*.txt') if mp3s: target = open("pls.m3u", 'w') for filename in mp3s: target.write(filename) target.write("\n") os.chdir(path) All I would like to be able to do (if possible) is that when the script is looping through the folders that it ignores those which do NOT contain 'mp3s', and removes the 'pls.m3u'. I could only get the script to work properly if I created the 'pls.m3u' by default. The problem is that that creates a lot of empty 'pls.m3u' files in folders which contain only '.jpg' files for example. You get the idea. I'm sure this script is blasphemous to Python users but any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Piping EOF problems with stdio and C++/Python

  I got some problems with EOF and stdio. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. When I see an EOF in my program I clear the stdin and next round I try to read in a new line. The problem is: for some reason the getline function immediatly (from the second run always, the first works just as intended) returns an EOF instead of waiting for a new input from py python process... The "Compiling Vim" page linked from there was for Linux, so the commands doesn't even work on Solars. But it did hint at logging the output of ./configure to a file, so I did that. Here it is: ./configure output removed. New version further down. Does anyone spot anything critical missing? EDIT 2: So I downloaded the vim package from sunfreeware. I couldn't just install it, since I don't have root privileges, but I was able to extract the package file. • How can I pass extra parameters to the routeMatch object?

  I'm trying to unit test a controller, but can't figure out how to pass some extra parameters to the routeMatch object. I followed the posts from tomoram at http://devblog.x2k.co.uk/unit-testing-a-zend-framework-2-controller/ and http://devblog.x2k.co.uk/getting-the-servicemanager-into-the-test-environment-and-dependency-injection/, but when I try to dispatch a request to /album/edit/1, for instance, it throws the following exception: Zend\Mvc\Exception\DomainException: Url plugin requires that controller event compose a router; none found Here is my PHPUnit Bootstrap: class Bootstrap { static $serviceManager; static $di; static public function go() { include 'init_autoloader.php'; $config = include 'config/application.config.php'; // append some testing configuration $config['module_listener_options']['config_static_paths'] = array(getcwd() . • Multiple data series in real time plot

  Hi, I'm kind of new to Python and trying to create a plotting app for values read via RS232 from a sensor. I've managed (after some reading and copying examples online) to get a plot working that updates on a timer which is great. My only trouble is that I can't manage to get multiple data series into the same plot. Does anyone have a solution to this?
