  • Ant trouble with environment variables on Ubuntu

    - by Inaimathi
Having some trouble with with ant reading environment variables in Ubuntu 9.1. Specifically, the build tasks my company uses has a token like ${env.CATALINA_HOME] in the main build.xml. I set CATALINA_HOME to the correct value in /etc/environment, ~/.pam_environment and (just to be safe) my .bashrc. I can see the correct value when I run printenv from bash, or when I eval (getenv "CATALINA_HOME") in emacs. Ant refuses to build to the correct directory though; instead I get a folder named ${env.CATALINA_HOME} in the same directory as my build.xml. Any idea what's happening there, and/or how to fix it?

  • setting up rhel 5.x RPM build server for mortal users

    - by Chen Levy
My task is to setup a RHEL 5.x build host, that can build RPMs for mortal users. On RHEL 6.x with rpm version 4.8, I have in /usr/lib/macros: # Path to top of build area. %_topdir %{getenv:HOME}/rpmbuild On RHEL 5.x with rpm version 4.4, the %{getevn:HOME} is not available. I know that I can use /home/someuser/.rpmmacros: %_topdir /home/someuser/rpmbuild and this will work for that user, however I don't want to do this for every user separately. Moreover, since .rpmmacro will not expand ${HOME} or ~ I suspect it is unsafe to use those. This in turn make /etc/skel unstable for this task (or so I suspect). So in short, my question is: How to setup RHEL 5.x host that allow all users to build RPM packages in their home directory?

  • dmenu doesn't set environment variable as per my .bash_profile when running Emacs

    - by proofit404
I have following ~/.bash_profile [[ -f ~/.bashrc ]] && . ~/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc ### Check for shell interactivity. if [[ $- != *i* ]] ; then return fi ### Nyan-cat prompt. PS1="\`if [ \$? = 0 ]; then echo \[\e[35m\]^_^\[\e[0m\]; else echo \[\e[31m\]O_O\[\e[0m\]; fi\` \$ " ### PATH export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin So when I run emacs from terminal all OK. When I start it with dmenu (getenv "PATH") and exec-path variable doesn't contain ~/bin directory. When I do it in xfce with xfrun4 command with same bash configuration all seams to work too. What is the problem with dmenu?

  • PATH env variable on Mac OS X and/or Eclipse

    - by Jason S
When I print out the path in bash, it prints this: /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin When I run System.out.println(System.getenv("PATH")); in Java running under Eclipse, it prints /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin How can I figure out why there is this discrepancy? I need to add /usr/local/bin to the PATH and make it available to Java apps under Eclipse. (note: I have made no modifications system paths, so these are the defaults set by the OS or perhaps by one or more of the applications i've installed.)

  • xts error - order.by requires an appropriate time-based object

  • Need help with PHP web app bootstrapping error potentially related to Zend [migrated]

    - by Matt Shepherd
I am trying to get a program called OpenFISMA running on an Ubuntu AMI in AWS. The app is not really coded on the Ubuntu platform, but I am in my comfort zone there, and have tried both CentOS and OpenSUSE (both are sort of "native" for the app) for getting it working with the same or worse results. So, why not just get it working on Ubuntu? Anyway, the app is found here: www.openfisma.org and an install guide is found here: https://openfisma.atlassian.net/wiki/display/030100/Installation+Guide The install guide kind of sucks. It doesn't list dependencies in any coherent way or provide much of any detail (does not even mention Zend once on the entire page) so I've done a lot of work to divine the information I do have. This page provided some dependency inf (though again, Zend is not mentioned once): https://openfisma.atlassian.net/wiki/display/PUBLIC/RPM+Management#RPMManagement-BasicOverviewofRPMPackages Anyway, I got all the way through the install (so far as I could reconstruct it). I am going to the login page for the first time, and there should be some sort of bootstrapping occurring when I load the page. (I am not a programmer so I have no idea what it is doing there.) Anyway, I get a message on the web page that says: "An exception occurred while bootstrapping the application." So, then I go look in /var/www/data/logs/php.log and find this message: [22-Oct-2013 17:29:18 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Exception' with message 'No entry is registered for key 'Zend_Log'' in /var/www/library/Zend/Registry.php:147 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/public/index.php(188): Zend_Registry::get('Zend_Log') #1 {main} thrown in /var/www/library/Zend/Registry.php on line 147 This occurs every time I load the page. I gather there is an issue related to registering the Zend_Log variable in the Zend registry, but other than that I really have no idea what to do about it. Am I missing a package that it needs, or is this app not coded to register the variables properly? I have no clue. Any help is greatly appreciated. The application file referenced in the log message (index.php) is included below. <?php /** * Copyright (c) 2008 Endeavor Systems, Inc. * * This file is part of OpenFISMA. * * OpenFISMA is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public * License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later * version. * * OpenFISMA is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied * warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. • CodeIgniter - Disallowed Key Characters via $_GET

    - by rkj
I am getting echoed "Disallowed Key Characters." in my CodeIgniter when I have a http_cookie sent via GET from a SSL relay site (a payment gateway) to my application. My question is if there's any way that I can get this http_cookie through this "_clean_input_keys" method that cause this Disallowed-message and exits? The parameter contains a getenv("HTTP_COOKIE") set into a hidden input and needs to be used to keep the session alive even though it will be sent to the relay site and back again. The HTTP_COOKIE string looks like: &HTTP_COOKIE=PHPSESSID=775572c8c3b161bc957281aa901eb09c;%20ci_session=a%3A4%3A{s%3A10%3A%22session_id%22%3Bs%3A32%3A%229666689e0c8e4f26fb38889351765304%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22ip_address%22%3Bs%3A14%3A%2127.0.0.1%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22user_agent%22%3Bs%3A50%3A%22Mozilla%2F5.0+%28Macintosh%3B+U%3B+Intel+Mac+OS+X+10.6%3B+da%22%3Bs%3A13%3A%22last_activity%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%221271145332%22%3B}d9b9df5d8a0b51f303cbe6bb4bbe497e

  • Accessing py2exe program over network in Windows 98 throws ImportErrors

    - by darvids0n
I'm running a py2exe-compiled python program from one server machine on a number of client machines (mapped to a network drive on every machine, say W:). For Windows XP and later machines, have so far had zero problems with Python picking up W:\python23.dll (yes, I'm using Python 2.3.5 for W98 compatibility and all that). It will then use W:\zlib.pyd to decompress W:\library.zip containing all the .pyc files like os and such, which are then imported and the program runs no problems. The issue I'm getting is on some Windows 98 SE machines (note: SOME Windows 98 SE machines, others seem to work with no apparent issues). What happens is, the program runs from W:, the W:\python23.dll is, I assume, found (since I'm getting Python ImportErrors, we'd need to be able to execute a Python import statement), but a couple of things don't work: 1) If W:\library.zip contains the only copy of the .pyc files, I get ZipImportError: can't decompress data; zlib not available (nonsense, considering W:\zlib.pyd IS available and works fine with the XP and higher machines on the same network). 2) If the .pyc files are actually bundled INSIDE the python exe by py2exe, OR put in the same directory as the .exe, OR put into a named subdirectory which is then set as part of the PYTHONPATH variable (e.g W:\pylib), I get ImportError: no module named os (os is the first module imported, before sys and anything else). Come to think of it, sys.path wouldn't be available to search if os was imported before it maybe? I'll try switching the order of those imports but my question still stands: Why is this a sporadic issue, working on some networks but not on others? And how would I force Python to find the files that are bundled inside the very executable I run? I have immediate access to the working Windows 98 SE machine, but I only get access to the non-working one (a customer of mine) every morning before their store opens. Thanks in advance! EDIT: Okay, big step forward. After debugging with PY2EXE_VERBOSE, the problem occurring on the specific W98SE machine is that it's not using the right path syntax when looking for imports. Firstly, it doesn't seem to read the PYTHONPATH environment variable (there may be a py2exe-specific one I'm not aware of, like PY2EXE_VERBOSE). Secondly, it only looks in one place before giving up (if the files are bundled inside the EXE, it looks there. If not, it looks in library.zip). EDIT 2: In fact, according to this, there is a difference between the sys.path in the Python interpreter and that of Py2exe executables. Specifically, sys.path contains only a single entry: the full pathname of the shared code archive. Blah. No fallbacks? Not even the current working directory? I'd try adding W:\ to PATH, but py2exe doesn't conform to any sort of standards for locating system libraries, so it won't work. Now for the interesting bit. The path it tries to load atexit, os, etc. from is: W:\\library.zip\<module>.<ext> Note the single slash after library.zip, but the double slash after the drive letter (someone correct me if this is intended and should work). It looks like if this is a string literal, then since the slash isn't doubled, it's read as an (invalid) escape sequence and the raw character is printed (giving W:\library.zipos.pyd, W:\library.zipos.dll, ... instead of with a slash); if it is NOT a string literal, the double slash might not be normpath'd automatically (as it should be) and so the double slash confuses the module loader. Like I said, I can't just set PYTHONPATH=W:\\library.zip\\ because it ignores that variable. It may be worth using sys.path.append at the start of my program but hard-coding module paths is an absolute LAST resort, especially since the problem occurs in ONE configuration of an outdated OS. Any ideas? I have one, which is to normpath the sys.path.. pity I need os for that. Another is to just append os.getenv('PATH') or os.getenv('PYTHONPATH') to sys.path... again, needing the os module. The site module also fails to initialise, so I can't use a .pth file. I also recently tried the following code at the start of the program: for pth in sys.path: fErr.write(pth) fErr.write(' to ') pth.replace('\\\\','\\') # Fix Windows 98 pathing issues fErr.write(pth) fErr.write('\n') But it can't load linecache.pyc, or anything else for that matter; it can't actually execute those commands from the looks of things. Is there any way to use built-in functionality which doesn't need linecache to modify the sys.path dynamically? Or am I reduced to hard-coding the correct sys.path?

  • putenv/setenv using substitutions

    - by vinaym
I need user to define all the environment variables needed for my program in a text file as shown below. MyDLLPath = C:\MyDLLPath MyOption = Option1 PATH = %MyDLLPath%;%PATH%; In my program I read each line and call putenv with the string. Problem is that the environment substitutions (%MyDLLPath%) are not being expanded. I am guessing the following fix for that 1. Check each line for % characters. 2. Get the text between 2 consecutive % characters. 3. Call getenv using the text from step 2. 4. Replace value obtained above into the line and then call putenv. Is there a better way to do it?

Is there an existing R function that can provide a path to a temporary directory on all major OS's? Or a way to reference a user's home directory? Otherwise, I was thinking of trying this: Sys.getenv("temp") I presume that I can't expect people to have write access to their R locations, otherwise I could reference a path within the package directory: .find.package("package.name").

  • Why would I get a bus error or segmentation fault when calling free() normally?

    - by chucknelson
I have a very simple test program, running on Solaris 5.8: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main(void) { char *paths; paths = getenv("PATH"); printf("Paths: %s\n", paths); free(paths); // this causes a bus error return 0; } If I don't call free() at the end, it displays the message fine and exits. If I include the free() call, it crashes with a bus error. I've had other calls to free(), in other programs, cause segmentation faults as well. Even if I allocate the memory for *paths myself, free() will cause a bus error. Is there some reason trying to free up the memory is causing a crash?

  • How do you use multiple versions of the same R package?

    - by Richie Cotton
In order to be able to compare two versions of a package, I need to able to choose which version of the package that I load. R's package system is set to by default to overwrite existing packages, so that you always have the latest version. How do I override this behaviour? My thoughts so far are: I could get the package sources, edit the descriptions to give different names and build, in effect, two different packages. I'd rather be able to work directly with the binaries though, as it is much less hassle. I don't necessarily need to have both versions of the packages loaded at the same time (just installed somewhere at the same time). I could perhaps mess about with Sys.getenv('R_HOME') to change the place where R installs the packages, and then .libpaths() to change the place where R looks for them. This seems hacky though, so does anyone have any better ideas?

  • Calling software modules (Java, Perl, etc.) from R

    - by harshsinghal
I've recently started using R for Natural Language Processing tasks and find that a lot of applications are available in Java and Perl (for my purposes). For example: A few perl modules are available to find distance measures between words by querying Wordnet. I am aware of the R Wordnet package, but it does not perform the tasks that these CPAN modules do. Many Java packages for NLP are out there, which I'd like to use from within R. I know of rJava, RSPerl, the simple system command amongst others, but I'd like more examples of how I could make calls to Java and Perl applications from R. Recently I tried capturing console output from a perl script. cat( 'print "Hello World\n";',file="hello.pl" ) system(command="c:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl") system(command=paste(Sys.getenv("COMSPEC"),"/c","C:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl")) None of the above system commands showed 'Hello World' on the R console. I've used "system" before to run perl scripts to perform tasks without wanting to capture console output. Any hints and redirection to other more extensive sources of information would be highly appreciated. Thank you

  • different ways of getting the IP Address

    - by Sachindra
I was actually going through the question 1636644 .. and got confused with this " The getenv() function access to any environment variable to get the related value! " Also .. " It would probably be better to use $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; to prevent incompatibilities between servers. " what kind of compatibility issue can this be ?? Lastly, it says $_SERVER is an array with many elements but I find only the IP Address there .. does this array store anything else too??? apologies for all these questions packed in one .. this is bcoz these are all related ..

  • Is there a limit setting a php_admin_value in php-fpm?

    - by PeeHaa
I am trying to set a large value in the configuration of a pool in php-fpm, but at some point it just doesn't start anymore. php_admin_value[disable_functions] = dl,exec,passthru,shell_exec,system,proc_open,popen,curl_exec,curl_multi_exec,parse_ini_file,show_source,pcntl_exec,include,include_once,require,require_once,posix_mkfifo,posix_getlogin,posix_ttyname,getenv,get_current_use,proc_get_status,get_cfg_va,disk_free_space,disk_total_space,diskfreespace,getcwd,getlastmo,getmygid,getmyinode,getmypid,getmyuid,ini_set,mail,proc_nice,proc_terminate,proc_close,pfsockopen,fsockopen,apache_child_terminate,posix_kill,posix_mkfifo,posix_setpgid,posix_setsid,posix_setuid,fopen,tmpfile,bzopen,gzopen,chgrp,chmod,chown,copy,file_put_contents,lchgrp,lchown,link,mkdi,move_uploaded_file,rename,rmdi,symlink,tempnam,touch,unlink,iptcembed,ftp_get,ftp_nb_get,file_exists,file_get_contents,file,fileatime,filectime,filegroup,fileinode,filemtime,fileowne,fileperms,filesize,filetype,glob,is_di,is_executable,is_file,is_link,is_readable,is_uploaded_file,is_writable,is_writeable,linkinfo,lstat,parse_ini_file,pathinfo,readfile,readlink,realpath,stat,gzfile,create_function When trying to restart php-fpm it fails with the following message: Stopping php-fpm: [ OK ] Starting php-fpm: [20-Oct-2013 22:31:52] ERROR: [/etc/php-fpm.d/codepad.conf:235] value is NULL for a ZEND_INI_PARSER_ENTRY [20-Oct-2013 22:31:52] ERROR: Unable to include /etc/php-fpm.d/codepad.conf from /etc/php-fpm.conf at line 235 [20-Oct-2013 22:31:52] ERROR: failed to load configuration file '/etc/php-fpm.conf' [20-Oct-2013 22:31:52] ERROR: FPM initialization failed [FAILED] When I remove the last disabled function (create_function) it start again. I also tried with other functions, but this gives the same error so it's not related to the create_function function. The string currently is just over 1KB in size so it looks like I have hit a limit here? Is my assumption correct? Is there a way to overcome this limit? I also tried to add another php_admin_value[disable_functions] underneath it (hoping it would be appended), but that didn't work (it just used the first one).

  • Upstart Script on Centos 6

  • Can mod-rewrite be used to set environmental variables?

    - by VLostBoy
Hi, I've got an existing simple rewrite rule like so: <Directory /path> RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / # if the requested resource does not exist RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # route the uri to a front controller RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L] </Directory> This works fine, but I want to do one of either two things. On the basis of detecting the clients accept-language header, I want to either (i) Set the detected language as an environmental variable that the script can use or (ii)Rewrite the request so that the url begins with the language code (e.g. www.example.com/en/some/resource) In terms of implementing (i), I defined this rule: <Directory /path> RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / # if the requested resource does not exist RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # if the users preferred language is supported... RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-Language} ^.*(de|es|fr|it|ja|ru|en).*$ [NC] # define an environmental variable PREFER_LANG RewriteRule ^(.*)$ - [env=PREFER_LANG:%1] # route the uri to a front controller RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L] </Directory> I've tried a few variations, but PREFER_LANG is not defined in $_SERVER nor retrievable by getenv. In terms of implementing (ii)... lets just say its messy. I'll post it if I can't get an answer to one. Can anyone advise me? Thanks!

  • PassEnv does not find ENV variables

    - by quodlibetor
I've got this /etc/profile.d/myfile.sh: export MYVAR=myval I also have a PassEnv MYVAR line in a <virtualhost> section of an apache conf dir. That lets me do things like: $ echo $MYVAR myval $ python >>> import os; os.getenv('MYVAR') 'myval' $ sudo echo $MYVAR myval $ sudo -i root# echo $MYVAR myval But then, despite that being the case I get: root# /sbin/service httpd restart /sbin/service httpd restart Stopping httpd: [ OK ] Starting httpd: [Mon Oct 22 14:44:02 2012] [warn] PassEnv variable MYVAR was undefined [ OK ] And all of my attempts to access MYVAR from within my wsgi scripts just don't work. Thoughts? Am I doing something obviously wrong? EDIT for more detail I've got a swarm of computers/VMs and a swarm of developers working on a swarm of projects. I need a simple central place to keep environment information, the most common is the "environment" (dev/stage/prod). The scheme that we've got (modifying *.wsgi programmatically) is turning out to be more fragile than we'd like. The main options that I see are: put things in the shell environment put things in other config files Getting things into the shell environment is the best, because we won't need to write yet more duplicated "what is my environment" code.

  • Finding JNP port in JBoss from Servlet

    - by Steve Jackson
I have a servlet running in JBoss (4.2.2.GA and 4.3-eap) that needs to connect to an EJB to do work. In general this code works fine to get the Context to connect and make RMI calls (all in the same server). public class ContextFactory { public static final int DEFAULT_JNDI_PORT = 1099; public static final String DEFAULT_CONTEXT_FACTORY_CLASS = "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory"; public static final String DEFAULT_URL_PREFIXES = "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces"; public Context createContext(String serverAddress) { //combine provider name and port String providerUrl = serverAddress + ":" + DEFAULT_JNDI_PORT; //Set properties needed for Context: factory, provider, and package prefixes. Hashtable<String, String> env = new Hashtable<String, String>(3); env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, DEFAULT_CONTEXT_FACTORY_CLASS); env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, providerUrl); env.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, DEFAULT_URL_PREFIXES); return new InitialContext(env); } Now, when I change the JNDI bind port from 1099 in server/conf/jboss-service.xml I can't figure out how to programatically find the correct port for the providerUrl above. I've dumped System.getProperties() and System.getEnv() and it doesn't appear there. I'm pretty sure I can set it in server/conf/jndi.properties as well, but I was hoping to avoid another magic config file. I've tried the HttpNamingContextFactory but that fails "java.net.ProtocolException: Server redirected too many times (20)" env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.jboss.naming.HttpNamingContextFactory"); env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "http://" + serverAddress + ":8080/invoker/JNDIFactory"); Any ideas?
