• Excel Interop: Range.FormatConditions.Add throws MissingMethodException

  I am writing an application which uses the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel assembly to export/import data from Excel spreadsheets. Everything was going fine (except for 1 based indexing and all those optional parameters!), until I tried to use conditional formatting. When I call Range.FormatConditions.Add I get a MissingMethodException telling me that no such method exists. This happens in both Vista and XP. • Strong name a 3rd party Interop DLL

  Hello! I have a 3rd party library I need to use. this library however, is not signed, so I used Signer to strong name it. One of its dependencies is an Interop library (also provided by the 3rd party) which I cannot sign since it seems to have unmanaged code. At runtime, when the 3rd party code needs to load the Interop library it fails to do so for not being signed. In short, Is there a way for me to sign a 3rd party Interop DLL? I've done a lot of searching but still couldn't find a solution.

• Subsonic and the VB.net 2005 interop toolkit

  I have an application I am converting over from vb6 to vb.net 2.0/3.5. Using Subsonic 2.2 and the vb.net Interop Toolkit 2005. Cannot seem to get the .net form using subsonic to work inside the interop environment. It keeps saying it cannot find the subsonic service provider in the app.config. But I know it is there. Has anyone used these two toolkits together successfully? Will subsonic even work inside the interop environment in that way? Thanks in advance!

• Capturing Drupal7 DOM content before page load for comparison

  We have an MU (Multisite) installation of Drupal7 here at work, and are trying to temporarily hold back the swarm of bots we receive until we get a chance to load our content. I wrote a quick and and dirty script to send 503 headers if we find a certain criteria in Xpath (This can ALSO be done as a strpos/preg_match if DOM is not formed). In order to get the ball rolling though I need to figure out how to either A) Hijack the Drupal7 bootstrap and pull all content through this filter below B) ob_flush content through the filter before content is loaded The issue that I am having is figuring out exactly where I can catch the content at? I thought that index.php in Drupal7 would be the suspect, but I'm a little confused as to where or how I should capture the contents. • COM Interop between 32 bit and 64 bit applications

  I have a .NET windows forms application compiled as x84 – it needs to be compiled as x84 because it references 3rd party DLLs which are 32 bit. The application uses COM interop to automate Office applications and also AutoCAD. My question is: will my COM interop code work okay on a 64 bit operating system against the 64 bit versions of Office and AutoCAD? I’m going to try this out but I wondered whether someone knew of any problems?

  I have a .net 4 application that uses a Com Dll to send SMS messages. I used TlbImp to create the interop assembly and that is what is referenced in the application. When I try to create an instance of this class, it takes a really long time (2-5 seconds). I ran performance profile in VS 2010 and the call that takes the longest by far is System.Activator.CreateInstance(). I am looking for tips on how to debug or gotchas with using Com Interop.

  In case you didn’t notice, VS2010 adds a new property to assembly references in the properties window: Embed Interop Types: This property was introduced as a way to overcome the pain of deploying Primary Interop Assemblies. Read that blog post, it will help understand why you DON’T need it when doing VS extensibility (VSX) work. It's generally advisable when doing VSX development NOT to use Embed Interop Types, which is a feature intended mostly for office PIA scenarios where the PIA assemblies are HUGE and had to be shipped with your app. This is NEVER the case with VSX authoring. All interop assemblies you reference (EnvDTE, VS.Shell, etc.) are ALWAYS already there in the users' machine, and you NEVER need to distribute them. • Visual Studio 2010 64-bit COM Interop Issue

  I am trying to add a VC6 COM DLL to our VS2010RC C# solution. The DLL was compiled with the VC6 tools to create an x86 version and was compiled with the VC7 Cross-platform tools to generate a VC7 DLL. The x86 version of the assembly works fine as long as the consuming C# project's platform is set to x86. It doesn't matter whether the x64 or the x86 version of the DLL is actually registered. It works with both. If the platform is set to 'Any CPU' I receive a BadImageFormatException on the load of the Interop.<name>.dll. As for the x64 version, I cannot even get the project to build. I receive the tlbimp error: TlbImp : error TI0000: A single valid machine type compatible with the input type library must be specified. Has anyone seen this issue? EDIT: I've done a lot more digging into this issue and think this may be a Visual Studio bug. I have a clean solution. I bring in my COM assembly with language agnostic 'Any CPU' selected. The process architecture of the resulting Interop DLL is x86 rather than MSIL. May have to make the Interop by hand for now to get this to work. If anyone has another suggestion let me know.

• Office 2003 interop problems, interface, method not found.

  This problem is making me crazy. Actually I have multiple problems. First one: Why on earth are is there a _Worksheet and a Worksheetinterface in the Excel interop. They both look the same, except for some attributes on the methods. It's confusing! Second of all: my job today is making a VB.NET file more strict, by settings Option Strict On and Option Explicit On While it works for most files, I'm bumping into a problem. Here's a little code piece: Private _pivotTable As Excel.PivotTable With _pivotTable pvf = .AddDataField(pvc) End With PivotTable.AddDataField is defined on the MSDN page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.office.interop.excel.pivottable.adddatafield(office.11).aspx When I check my local Interop dll w/ Reflector that method is NOT there. When I run the application, and step through it, the method just works. When I try to step INTO the method, I get an LateBound Exception. WTF?   On BBC articles, such as this one, there is a DOM element with class story-body, deep in the DOM chain. I want to hide all DOM element "outside" of this (unique) DOM element. The problem is that I can't just do $('*').hide(); $('.story-body'); because I need to make sure to keep the parents, grand-parents, etc. of story-body. I also can't do $('*').hide(); var current = $('.story-body').show(); while(current = current.parent()) { current.show(); } because that would simply show everything. Any suggestions?

  I need to query an xml document and then display specific tag values, e.g. forename, surname, group(dept), job_title. I'm using XMLReader as i may need to work with large XML files. I using DomXPath to filter the data, but i don't know how to retrieve the nodeName and value for each element. The code below only returns 'member' as the node name?   I am currently trying to write an addin for PowerPoint that whenever any PowerPoint document is opened and then run in show mode that the feature to record narration audio and slide timings is automatically activated. However I cannot seem to find that option in the PowerPoint interop object The manual in application way to use this feature in Powerpoint 2007 is under the "Slide Show" tab of the ribbon called "Record Narration". I have found under that I can set under Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.SlideShowSettings.AdvancedSettings to RehearseNewTimings but this does not record narration audio. Does anyone know if this is even possible? Or if I am completely on the wrong track here. Thanks in advance for any repsonse

  Hello, I need to InterOp Win32 code (unmanaged Win32 DLL's and Exe) completely with .NET. I need to call Win32 unmanaged code(DLL exported functions) at runtime i.e (knowing the types of data types in Win32 signatures and need to pass data according to that type at runtime). This is 100% possible in case of COM. You can convert COM unmanaged code to managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe and use now reflection API to work with those managed types(actual were unmanaged types now converted managed using tlbimp). But same functionality I need to get in terms of Win32(i.e) in .NET framework. How?? I know MS provided Export table reading API ..but I couldn't find exact API for InterOp of Win32 unmanaged code Regards

  I need to start utilizing the interop in my programs to automate several functions in Word and Outlook and I was checking if anyone knew a good place to start. My ultimate goal is for my program to kick off a mail merge, create several different files and save them accordingly, then e-mail the different files to different people based upon who needs what. So any help on learning how to use the interop properly would be greatly appreciated. I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 and Office 2007 and use vb.net to write my programs. • .Net - interop assemblies taking 15 seconds to load when being referenced in a function

  This is a C# console application. I have a function that does something like this: static void foo() { Application powerpointApp; Presentation presentation = null; powerpointApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.ApplicationClass(); } That's all it does. When it is called there is a fifteen second delay before the function gets hit. I added something like this: static void MyAssemblyLoadEventHandler(object sender, AssemblyLoadEventArgs args) { Console.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToString() + " ASSEMBLY LOADED: " + args.LoadedAssembly.FullName); Console.WriteLine(); } This gets fired telling me that my interop assemblies have been loaded about 10 milliseconds before my foo function gets hit. What can I do about this? The program needs to call this function (and eventually do something else) once and then exit so I need for these assemblies to be cached or something. Ideas?

But this fixed DOM is inconsistent with what is in the webpage. Thus, my plugin doesn't behave as expected. I'm really puzzled with that issue. The problem exists in both firefox 3.6 and firefox 4 (didn't tested firefox 5 yet). For example, reducing the meta, will fix the issue. Where does this discrepancy come from ? How can I handle it ? EDIT: With the answer I get, I think I should be a little more precise. I do know what firefow is doing when modifying the webpage in the second code snippet. The problem is the following one : « In the fixed DOM that I get into my plugin, the gorgeous link doesn't appear anywhere, but this link is actually visible on the webpage, and works. So the DOM I'm manipulating, and the DOM in the webpage are different - they are fixed in a different manner. » . So where does the difference come in the fixing behaviour, and how can I handle that, or, in other terms, how can I be aware, in my plugin, of the existance of the gorgeous link ?

  I am trying to use Aspose.Words library through COM Interop. There is one critical problem: I cannot set color. It is supposed to work by assigning to DocumentBuilder.Font.Color, but when I try to do it I get OLE error 0x80131509. • Unexpected Event Behavior When Using VB6 with COM Interop (C#)

  We are using a COM Interop (C#) to allow for a VB6 application to send data to a server. Once the server receives the data, the managed code will raise a DataSent event. This event is only fired after a correlation ID is returned to the original caller. About 1% of the time, we've encountered VB6 executing the raised event before finishing the function that originally sent the data. Using the following code: ' InteropTester.COMEvents is the C# object ' Dim WithEvents m_ManagedData as InteropTester.COMEvents Private Sub send_data() Set m_ManagedData = new COMEvents Dim id as Integer ' send 5 to using the managed interop object ' id = m_ManagedData.SendData(5) LogData "ID " & id & " was returned" m_correlationIds.Add id End Sub Private Sub m_ManagedData_DataSent(ByVal sender as Variant, ByVal id as Integer) LogData "Data was successfully sent to C#" ' check if the returned ID is in the m_correlationIds collection goes here' End Sub We can verify that the id is returned with a value when we call m_ManagedData.SendData(5), but the logs then show that the m_ManagedData_DataSent is occasionally called before send_data ends. How is possible for VB6 to access the Message Loop to know that the DataSent event was raised before exiting send_data()? We are not calling DoEvents and everything within VB6 is synchronous.
