• External Monitors shut off when Laptop Lid closes

  I have researched the solution... gconftool-2 --type string --set /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/lid_ac "nothing" does not fix it. I have two external monitors and when I close my lid the settings are reset and the laptop's monitor is set to the default. I am getting stressed in the amount of files that needs to be deployed to another server, i just wished a simple xcopy tool to another server could work.

  Problem Got java.io.IOException: Too many open files in solr indexing through jenkins. Did some googling and found we have to set the ulimit for the box in where we are running the job. So set the ulimit in a linux box with spec Linux x86_64 GNU/Linux in both of the following fashions ulimit -n 1000000 /etc/security/limits.conf userx soft nofile 1000000 userx hard nofile 1000000 Given userx is the user through which the jenkins job is being executed. when doing ssh to the box as userx manually through terminal and check ulimit -n am getting 10000000 Question But when executing the same ulimit -n through a jenkins job, only getting 1024 which is the default. Any advice would be much helpful?

  Now that the dust has settled and Rhythmbox has become (again) the default music-media player in 12.04, I'm interested in extending its functionality. For example, the default lyric plugin does not work for me and there doesn't appear to be an sound-equalizer by default. Having done a search, I came across the Gnome-website that lists a number of third-party plugins, some-of which I wish to install which can resolve the above. However, there doesn't appear to be .deb packages or a repository containing these plugins. Instead there are links to source-code websites such as GitHub and others. So, I'm confused - I don't know which plugins works in 12.04 Rhythmbox and I'm not sure how to install these. Help please?

• hudson/jenkins: help needed to get started with customization work

  I'm would to customize jenkins by adding links to the left hand side panel and use the pages associated with these links to serve some custom content in place of the jobs/views table displayed by default. I managed to add links to the side-bar using the sidebar-links plugin. Now I'm trying to see how to replace the content of the <td id="main-panel"> element with some custom content. The custom content is generated by some PHP scripts which ideally should be called by hudson every time the custom pages are requested, though if too complicated I can either create static content to be served by jenkins by calling my PHP scripts in a crontab or see if calls to the PHP scripts can be done by apache itself before the page requests are sent to jenkins. I'm not sure writing a plugin is the best way to proceed and I would like to have your thoughts as to how you think I should implement this.

  I have a brand new installation of Jenkins 1.417 on Ubuntu 11.6, trying to talk to an active directory. I have the Active Directory plugin installed. If I leave off the base DN and password, the 'test' button claims success, while actual authentication fails. If I put in a user name and password on the domain, the test button fails (just as above). Is there some tweak required to the AD configuration to allow something like Jenkins to talk to it?

  Pushing new Sparkle releases of our internal apps is a pain. I have to make the build, make the release notes file, sign the .zip with the private key, and add a new entry to the appcast file tying everything together. I'd love it if Jenkins could help: use the commit messages for the release notes, and automatically do the rest of it. Should I be looking at writing a new Jenkins plugin, or using shell scripting, or is there something already that will do what I want? (A quick Google didn't find anything.) I'm new to Jenkins, and am still trying to get a feel for what it can do. Do any other maintainers of Cocoa apps have any tips?

I also want to install the VLC Media player and its dependencies I assume this is related to the restricted codecs and I have tried donwnload/install them with no success.   On 11.10, which Compiz plugins are enabled by default? I.e. I should leave them enabled for some particular reason. I've imported my Compiz settings from my previous install and so I can't tell. I'd like to disable all unnecessary plugins because I've noticed the potential for interference or performance issues. I don't think I can trust the CCSM feature "Reset to defaults" because when I use it I need to run unity --reset afterwards in order for my desktop to work again (implying that the default values it resets to are not the values that Ubuntu/Unity requires).

• Jenkins swarm-plugin jar file, won't run in background

  We're working on an automation script for our Jenkins slaves on a local Unix server. To connect the slaves to the Jenkins master, we use the swarm plugin. Setting up the master was easy, and connecting clients is also easy with a single command. However, I am trying to get the slave command (a java application) to run in the background without stalling the current process, this doesn't seem to work. I've created an init.d file and added it to update-rc.d but that doesn't work. #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/java -jar /root/swarm-client-1.7-jar-with-dependencies.jar -executors 4 I've also tried to run it with an ampersand & to start the process in the background, but that doesn't work either because - from looking at the source - the jar file actually boots another process that is then started in the foreground. Any ideas on how to make this jar file start without stopping the bootstrap script?

  I have been working on a small project where need to copy files from one windows machine to another through jenkins in a secure way. I have heard about publish over ssh plugin in Jenkins. I tried to set that up but no luck. Did anybody do that and help me in that? Even to resolve it, i had installed openssh with cygwin on both the windows server and tried to copy the files (through SCP) or just connect both hosts (through ssh) in linux way through cygwin but always gets error of - ssh 3612 tty_list::allocate_tty: No tty allocated or scp 2680 tty_list::allocate_tty: No tty allocated Please help!

  I want to write a Jenkins Plugin which requires some knowledge on Apache Jelly. I looked at the Apache Site. It says "Low activity of developers" at the top. They have this tutorial page http://commons.apache.org/jelly/tutorial.html If I click any link to sample code, it gives me a 404 Not Found error. I couldn't find any other tutorial.
