  • ImageMagick vs. Cairo on Vector Graphics rasterization

    I am working on a project that needs rasterizing of drawings into image files. I have already got it work using GDI+. Wanting to create a portable solution, I am also looking into other solutions and found two - cairo and imagemagick. I am new to both, but it seems that ImageMagick can do almost all the stuff - drawing lines, arcs, circles, text etc.. plus many bitmap manipulation. However, Cairo is mentioned as competitor to GDI+ in web sites. ImageMagick is never mentioned for this purpose. I do not have time to invest on both libraries. I need to decide which one is worthy. I prefer to ImageMagick, as it seems much more powerful. What's your opinion on the two graphic libs?

    The only difference is that Winmain takes char* for lpCmdLine parameter, while wWinMain takes wchar_t*. On Windows XP, if an application entry is WinMain, does Windows convert the command line from Unicode to Ansi and pass to the application? If the command line parameter must be in Unicode (for example, Unicode file name, conversion will cause some characters missing), does that mean that I must use wWinMain as the entry function?

    My iPhone application connects to facebook . After i log in ,then appear one button named "Add feed to your wall". If i click it , pop a UIAlertView which ask "Yes" or "no". If "Yes", show the FBStreamDialog. But the BFStreamDialog just flash, then disappear. I don't know why. this is my code.     I want to set up an app which can get the information from a particular web page. Then i display the value which got from that page to the iPhone user. Detail:In the webpage on server ,there is the schedule for bus time. If the user input origin and terminus then show the user the time information(list on webpage) in a label. That's all. What i have finished is : Open the iphone app, input two value(origin and terminus) to UITextField. Send the URL to server. Get the page, and show in UIWebView. What my problem next is how should i get the information form that page into another two labels to give the user about the bus time. I have store data in my Array receiveData: self.receivedData = data; I am not clear the data i received is XML or what? And how should i pick-up the value i want. (should i save the value to property list and the read the value?) Thank you so much!

However, the above code worked. I am using VC2005. When I entered the debugger, I saw that after it entered DLL_THREAD_ATTACH case when ul_reason_for_call = 1! How can that happen? If I add `break' at the end of DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH block, the DLL failed to work. How can this happen?

    Hi, i used UITableView to show the info which was get for server. - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { //Create connection } Then i put the received data into array : NSSArray *dataFromServer: Then i want to show the data on each cell (some NSString object). As the connection was release, i call [self.tableView reloadData] , but cant work. So i'd like to know, how to make this? It means cellForRowAtIndexPath: has nothing at beginning, but after few seconds, shows something. Thank you so much!

    I have some problems using two dimensional array in the code and need some help. static const int PATTERNS[20][4]; static void init_PATTERN() { // problem #1 int (&patterns)[20][4] = const_cast<int[20][4]>(PATTERNS); ... } extern void UsePattern(int a, const int** patterns, int patterns_size); // problem #2 UsePattern(10, PATTERNS, sizeof(PATTERNS)/sizeof(PATTERNS[0])); in the first statement, I need to cast the const off the two dimensional array PATTERNS. The reason for this is that the init function is called only once, and in the remaining code, PATTERNS is strictly read-only. In the second statement, I need to pass PATTERNS array to the int** argument. Direct passing resulted a compile error. Thanks!

  • Removing malware of a particular kind

    I need to remove some malware from my computer. It is a trojan, and very annoying. It blocks access to Google and search sites. The trojan, with its name spelled out on each line cause it seems to block sites when i reference it in a url, is a r t (some text to mess it up) e m (more text i s First off, what is it, what does it do? Second, why can't I access google or yahoo or any other search sites at all? Third, can it be removed via McAffee? It says it quarantined it when I scanned I found a suspicious process "c"s"r"s"s".exe and it will not let me terminate it, and this is what Mcaffee says it is. Why on earth isn't Mcaffee getting rid of it? I even blocked internet access for this program. Thanks so much, I get kinda freaked out with things like this...     After installing the 2 files for Windows 7 Windows XP mode, the Start Menu now has Windows Virtual PC Windows XP Mode but clicking on the first merely brings out a folder, and clicking on the second brings out a dialog box that says: "Require Hardware Assisted Virtualization" Does that mean the machine cannot support Windows 7 Windows XP mode? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition. This is the dialog box: Update: the computer is an HP TouchSmart, with American Megatrends BIOS v02.61. I looked into the BIOS set up but it is quite simple and dosen't have something for "hardware assisted virtualization". The CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo T5750.

    I think back in the old days, some email programs let users Paste an image right inside the email content. (maybe WinMail or Outlook?) So for example, we can write some text, embed an image, and then write some more text, and embed another image. The recipient will get the email content in the above text-image-text-image order (instead of having all images attached at the end of email) Can any web-based email program do that? Note that the image is not just a link, but a complete file. For example, Gmail lets us paste an image, but it is actually just a link to some web location. Can the actual file content be embedded instead?

    On Windows 7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U So I would press Window Key + R to run something, and type in cmd /U so that the content might handle Unicode. And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show) Is there a way to handle it? To get Unicode characters to test your filenames, you can go to http://news.google.com/news?edchanged=1&ned=tw and you will be able to get many Unicode characters there (UTF-8)

    Some experiment I did with hard drive read/write speed was 10MB/s write and 40MB/s read, and with a USB Flash drive, it can be 5MB/s write and 10MB/s read. Also, if I put a virtual hard drive .vhd file in a hard drive or in a USB Flash drive and try a Virtual Machine using it, the one using the hard drive is quite fast, while the one using the USB Flash drive is close to not usable. So I wonder some early netbooks use 4GB or 8GB flash memory as the hard drive, and even the Apple Mac Air has an option of using flash memory instead of a hard drive. But in those situation, will the speed be slower than using a hard drive, like in the case of a USB Flash drive?

    How can a Virtual PC with Win XP on it install the East Asian Language? (or does any browser come with Chinese fonts?) After setting up a virtual PC with Win XP, if Chinese font is needed, then the usual way is to go to the Control Panel, select "Regional and Language" and go to the second tab and check the box "Install Files for East Asian Languages". After clicking OK, it asks for the file cplexe.exe on the XP SP3 CD 3... and is said to be about 230MB... In such case, how can the language pack or fonts be installed? (Update: I found that it is true for Window 7's Virtual PC with XP on it, as well as the XP SP3 with IE 8 that can be downloaded in the link below.) (I downloaded the virtual hard drive file .vhd from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21EABB90-958F-4B64-B5F1-73D0A413C8EF&displaylang=en so there is no "CD 3"... there) Or does any browser come with all the unicode fonts without needing the OS to support it?
