  • Select box is not working properly after including google custom search box in web page

    - by Vinay
    I have got a select box and google custom search box in a page, when i choose a option from select box and navigate away from the page and again if i come back to the same page the option will not be selected (violates the default functionality of select box), The code is below <script src="https://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('search', '1', {language : 'en'}); google.setOnLoadCallback(function() { var customSearchControl = new google.search.CustomSearchControl('004920913350056953771:kpkclvhujzk'); customSearchControl.setResultSetSize(google.search.Search.FILTERED_CSE_RESULTSET); var options = new google.search.DrawOptions(); options.setAutoComplete(true); options.enableSearchboxOnly("<?=$homeurl?>my_results.php", "query"); customSearchControl.draw('cse-search-form', options); }, true); </script> <select multiple="yes"> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> </select> If i remove the custom search script, the select box selected option will be retained even after navigating away from the page. (default functionality) Its working fine in chrome, IE but not in Firefox. Is there any solution for this, so that select box must work fine even in the presence of search box, but the order must be same 1) Search box 2)Select Box

  • How to provide js-ctypes in a spidermonkey embedding?

    - by Triston J. Taylor
    Summary I have looked over the code the SpiderMonkey 'shell' application uses to create the ctypes JavaScript object, but I'm a less-than novice C programmer. Due to the varying levels of insanity emitted by modern build systems, I can't seem to track down the code or command that actually links a program with the desired functionality. method.madness This js-ctypes implementation by The Mozilla Devs is an awesome addition. Since its conception, scripting has been primarily used to exert control over more rigorous and robust applications. The advent of js-ctypes to the SpiderMonkey project, enables JavaScript to stand up and be counted as a full fledged object oriented rapid application development language flying high above 'the bar' set by various venerable application development languages such as Microsoft's VB6. Shall we begin? I built SpiderMonkey with this config: ./configure --enable-ctypes --with-system-nspr followed by successful execution of: make && make install The js shell works fine and a global ctypes javascript object was verified operational in that shell. Working with code taken from the first source listing at How to embed the JavaScript Engine -MDN, I made an attempt to instantiate the JavaScript ctypes object by inserting the following code at line 66: /* Populate the global object with the ctypes object. */ if (!JS_InitCTypesClass(cx, global)) return NULL; /* I compiled with: g++ $(./js-config --cflags --libs) hello.cpp -o hello It compiles with a few warnings: hello.cpp: In function ‘int main(int, const char**)’: hello.cpp:69:16: warning: converting to non-pointer type ‘int’ from NULL [-Wconversion-null] hello.cpp:80:20: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’ [-Wwrite-strings] hello.cpp:89:17: warning: NULL used in arithmetic [-Wpointer-arith] But when you run the application: ./hello: symbol lookup error: ./hello: undefined symbol: JS_InitCTypesClass Moreover JS_InitCTypesClass is declared extern in 'dist/include/jsapi.h', but the function resides in 'ctypes/CTypes.cpp' which includes its own header 'CTypes.h' and is compiled at some point by some command during 'make' to yeild './CTypes.o'. As I stated earlier, I am less than a novice with the C code, and I really have no idea what to do here. Please give or give direction to a generic example of making the js-ctypes object functional in an embedding.

  • Google local search API - callback never called

    - by Laurent Luce
    Hello, I am trying to retrieve some local restaurants using the LocalSearch Google API. The problem is that my function attached to setSearchCompleteCallback never get called. Please let me know what I am doing wrong here. <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('maps' , '2'); google.load('search' , '1'); var searcher, searchControl; function OnLoad() { searchControl = new google.search.SearchControl(); searcher = new google.search.LocalSearch(); // create the object // Add the searcher to the SearchControl searchControl.addSearcher(searcher); searchControl.setSearchCompleteCallback(searcher , function() { var results = searcher.results; // Grab the results array // We loop through to get the points for (var i = 0; i < results.length; i++) { var result = results[i]; } }); $('#user_search_address').live('click', function() { g_searchControl.execute('pizza san francisco'); }); } google.setOnLoadCallback(OnLoad); </script>

  • Google Bar Chart Time Label Interval

    - by Alex Angelini
    Hi I am using Google Bar Chart through the visualization API on my site: http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/imagebarchart.html And my x-axis is time, and every time interval is a time of day in the format (HH:MM) Here is my code for the graph: <script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> %s google.load("visualization", "1", {packages:["imagebarchart"]}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart); function drawChart() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addColumn('string', 'Date'); data.addColumn('number', 'Amount'); data.addRows({{Rows}}); %s var chart = new google.visualization.ImageBarChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, {width: 900, height: 340, min: 0, isVertical:true, legend:'none'}); } </script> The rows of data are added later using a templating engine, but that is the jist of my chart. Because I have added my time variable as 'string' I cannot use the valueLabelsInterval option to only show every 4 labels. Because I can't do that the labels overlap and look ugly. Is there any other way to only show every other time label or every 4th one, I read through the docs but could not see how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

  • Font for tabs looks a little too big

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    I'm using the default for jQueryUI, but it looks like the font is a little big. I know that one solution would be "WELL! JUST MAKE IT SMALLER!", but I'm just wondering if I've messed something up or I don't have a value set correctly before I charge in and start changing things. <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jquery", "1"); </script> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1/themes/smoothness/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" media="all" /> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jqueryui", "1"); function OnLoadCallbackUI(){ $('#tabs').tabs(); } google.setOnLoadCallback(OnLoadCallbackUI); </script> </head> <body> <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="#tabs-1">tab1</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-2">tab2</a></li> </ul> <div id="tabs-1"> tabs-1 </div> <div id="tabs-2"> tabs-2 </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Mystery: How does Google do cross-domain iframe communication?

    - by Shraga
    Hi everyone, When you host Googles web search element on a page, a div is created which incorporates an iframe which points to a Google adsense ads page. However, if there are no ads for the specific query, Google somehow changes the class on YOUR domain to render the div (and iframe) invisible. They are NOT using postMessage, as it also works in IE7. They are also not using the fragment identifier method, as no hash appears in the url. So how do they do it? To check what I'm saying just put the following into a regular html page: <!-- Google Custom Search Element --> <div id="cse" style="width:100%;">Loading</div> <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('search', '1'); google.setOnLoadCallback(function(){ new google.search.CustomSearchControl().draw('cse'); }, true); </script> and then do a search for "cars" (or anything else that will definitely have ads) and then for "wzxv", which has no ads...

  • Event Listener in Google Charts API

    - by DeanGrobler
    I'm busy using Google Charts in one of my projects to display data in a table. Everything is working great. Except that I need to see what line a user selected once they click a button. This would obviously be done with Javascript, but I've been struggling for days now to no avail. Below I've pasted code for a simple example of the table, and the Javascript function that I want to use (that doesn't work). <html> <head> <script type='text/javascript' src='https://www.google.com/jsapi'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google.load('visualization', '1', {packages:['table']}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawTable); var table = ""; function drawTable() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addColumn('string', 'Name'); data.addColumn('number', 'Salary'); data.addColumn('boolean', 'Full Time Employee'); data.addRows(4); data.setCell(0, 0, 'Mike'); data.setCell(0, 1, 10000, '$10,000'); data.setCell(0, 2, true); data.setCell(1, 0, 'Jim'); data.setCell(1, 1, 8000, '$8,000'); data.setCell(1, 2, false); data.setCell(2, 0, 'Alice'); data.setCell(2, 1, 12500, '$12,500'); data.setCell(2, 2, true); data.setCell(3, 0, 'Bob'); data.setCell(3, 1, 7000, '$7,000'); data.setCell(3, 2, true); table = new google.visualization.Table(document.getElementById('table_div')); table.draw(data, {showRowNumber: true}); } function selectionHandler() { selectedData = table.getSelection(); row = selectedData[0].row; item = table.getValue(row,0); alert("You selected :" + item); } </script> </head> <body> <div id='table_div'></div> <input type="button" value="Select" onClick="selectionHandler()"> </body> </html> Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to look at this. I've honestly tried my best with this, hope someone out there can help me out a bit.

  • $.ajax ColdFusion cfc JSON Hello World

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    I've simplified this example as much as I can. I have a remote function: <cfcomponent output="false"> <cffunction name="Read" access="remote" output="false"> <cfset var local = {}> <cfquery name="local.qry" datasource="myDatasource"> SELECT PersonID,FirstName,LastName FROM Person </cfquery> <cfreturn local.qry> </cffunction> </cfcomponent> And using the jQuery $.ajax method, I would like to make an unordered list of everyone. <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jquery", "1"); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(function($){ $.ajax({ url: "Remote/Person.cfc?method=Read&ReturnFormat=json", success: function(data){ var str = '<ul>'; // This is where I need help: for (var I=0; I<data.length; I++) { str += '<li>' + I + data[I][1]+ '</li>' } str += '</ul>'; $('body').html(str); }, error: function(ErrorMsg){ console.log("Error"); } }); }); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> The part where I'm lost is where I'm looping over the data. I prefer to the use jQuery $.ajax method because I understand that $.get and $.post don't have error trapping. I don't know how to handle JSON returned from the cfc.

  • Using JSON Data to Populate a Google Map with Database Objects

    - by MikeH
    I'm revising this question after reading the resources mentioned in the original answers and working through implementing it. I'm using the google maps api to integrate a map into my Rails site. I have a markets model with the following columns: ID, name, address, lat, lng. On my markets/index view, I want to populate a map with all the markets in my markets table. I'm trying to output @markets as json data, and that's where I'm running into problems. I have the basic map displaying, but right now it's just a blank map. I'm following the tutorials very closely, but I can't get the markers to generate dynamically from the json. Any help is much appreciated! Here's my setup: Markets Controller: def index @markets = Market.filter_city(params[:filter]) respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.json { render :json => @market} format.xml { render :xml => @market } end end Markets/index view: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi?key=GOOGLE KEY REDACTED, BUT IT'S THERE" > </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var markets = <%= @markets.to_json %>; </script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> google.load("maps", "2.x"); google.load("jquery", "1.3.2"); </script> </head> <body> <div id="map" style="width:400px; height:300px;"></div> </body> Public/javascripts/application.js: function initialize() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible() && typeof markets != 'undefined') { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(40.7371, -73.9903), 13); map.addControl(new GLargeMapControl()); function createMarker(latlng, market) { var marker = new GMarker(latlng); var html="<strong>"+market.name+"</strong><br />"+market.address; GEvent.addListener(marker,"click", function() { map.openInfoWindowHtml(latlng, html); }); return marker; } var bounds = new GLatLngBounds; for (var i = 0; i < markets.length; i++) { var latlng=new GLatLng(markets[i].lat,markets[i].lng) bounds.extend(latlng); map.addOverlay(createMarker(latlng, markets[i])); } } } window.onload=initialize; window.onunload=GUnload;

  • Why does jquery leak memory so badly?

    - by Thomas Lane
    This is kind of a follow-up to a question I posted last week: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2429056/simple-jquery-ajax-call-leaks-memory-in-ie I love the jquery syntax and all of its nice features, but I've been having trouble with a page that automatically updates table cells via ajax calls leaking memory. So I created two simple test pages for experimenting. Both pages do an ajax call every .1 seconds. After each successful ajax call, a counter is incremented and the DOM is updated. The script stops after 1000 cycles. One uses jquery for both the ajax call and to update the DOM. The other uses the Yahoo API for the ajax and does a document.getElementById(...).innerHTML to update the DOM. The jquery version leaks memory badly. Running in drip (on XP Home with IE7), it starts at 9MB and finishes at about 48MB, with memory growing linearly the whole time. If I comment out the line that updates the DOM, it still finishes at 32MB, suggesting that even simple DOM updates leak a significant amount of memory. The non-jquery version starts and finishes at about 9MB, regardless of whether it updates the DOM. Does anyone have a good explanation of what is causing jquery to leak so badly? Am I missing something obvious? Is there a circular reference that I'm not aware of? Or does jquery just have some serious memory issues? Here is the source for the leaky (jquery) version: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('jquery', '1.4.2'); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var counter = 0; leakTest(); function leakTest() { $.ajax({ url: '/html/delme.x', type: 'GET', success: incrementCounter }); } function incrementCounter(data) { if (counter<1000) { counter++; $('#counter').text(counter); setTimeout(leakTest,100); } else $('#counter').text('finished.'); } </script> </head> <body> <div>Why is memory usage going up?</div> <div id="counter"></div> </body> </html> And here is the non-leaky version: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://yui.yahooapis.com/2.8.0r4/build/yahoo/yahoo-min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://yui.yahooapis.com/2.8.0r4/build/event/event-min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://yui.yahooapis.com/2.8.0r4/build/connection/connection_core-min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var counter = 0; leakTest(); function leakTest() { YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest('GET', '/html/delme.x', {success:incrementCounter}); } function incrementCounter(o) { if (counter<1000) { counter++; document.getElementById('counter').innerHTML = counter; setTimeout(leakTest,100); } else document.getElementById('counter').innerHTML = 'finished.' } </script> </head> <body> <div>Memory usage is stable, right?</div> <div id="counter"></div> </body> </html>

  • Internet explorer and floats: please explain

    - by cletus
    Yesterday someone asked Width absorbing HTML elements. I presented two solutions: one table-based and one pure CSS. Now the pure CSS one works well in Firefox and Chrome but not in IE. Basically the floats are being bumped down to the next line. It is my understanding (and the behaviour of FF and Chrome) that this should not be the case because the left divs are block level elements that floats should basically ignore. Complete code example is below. Adding a DOCTYPE to force IE into standards compliant mode helps slightly but the problem remains. So my question is: am I mistaken about my understanding of floats or is this IE's problem? More importantly, how do I get this to work in IE? It's been bugging the hell out of me. <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> div div { height: 1.3em; } #wrapper { width: 300px; overflow: hidden; } div.text { float: right; white-space: nowrap; clear: both; background: white; padding-left: 12px; text-align: left; } #row1, #row2, #row3, #row4, #row5, #row6 { width: 270px; margin-bottom: 4px; } #row1 { background: red; } #row2 { background: blue; } #row3 { background: green; } #row4 { background: yellow; } #row5 { background: pink; } #row6 { background: gray; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jquery", "1.3.2"); google.setOnLoadCallback(function() { $(function() { $("div.text").animate({ width: "90%" }, 2000); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div class="text">FOO</div><div id="row1"></div> <div class="text">BAR</div><div id="row2"></div> <div class="text">THESE PRETZELS ARE</div><div id="row3"></div> <div class="text">MAKING ME THIRSTY</div><div id="row4"></div> <div class="text">BLAH</div><div id="row5"></div> <div class="text">BLAH</div><div id="row6"></div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Asp.net Google Charts SSL handler for GeoMap

    - by Ian
    Hi All, I am trying to view Google charts in a site using SSL. Google Charts do not support SSL so if we use the standard charts, we get warning messages. My plan is to create a ASHX handler that is co9ntained in the secure site that will retrieve the content from Google and serve this to the page the user is viewing. Using VS 2008 SP1 and the included web server, my idea works perfectly for both Firefox and IE 8 & 9(Preview) and I am able to see my geomap displayed on my page as it should be. But my problem is when I publish to IIS7 the page using my handler to generate the geomap works in Firefox but not IE(every version). There are no errors anywhere or in any log files, but when i right click in IE in the area where the map should be displayed, I see the message in the context menu saying "movie not loaded" Below is the code from my handler and the aspx page. I have disabled compression in my web.config. Even in IE I am hitting all my break points and when I use the IE9 Developer tools, the web page is correctly generated with all the correct code, url's and references. If you have any better ways to accomplish this or how i can fix my problem, I will appreciate it. Thanks Ian Handler(ASHX) public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { String url = "http://charts.apis.google.com/jsapi"; string query = context.Request.QueryString.ToString(); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(query)) { url = query; } HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(new Uri(HttpUtility.UrlDecode(url))); request.UserAgent = context.Request.UserAgent; WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); string PageContent = string.Empty; StreamReader Reader; Stream webStream = response.GetResponseStream(); string contentType = response.ContentType; context.Response.BufferOutput = true; context.Response.ContentType = contentType; context.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); context.Response.Cache.SetNoServerCaching(); context.Response.Cache.SetMaxAge(System.TimeSpan.Zero); string newUrl = IanLearning.Properties.Settings.Default.HandlerURL; //"https://localhost:444/googlesecurecharts.ashx?"; if (response.ContentType.Contains("javascript")) { Reader = new StreamReader(webStream); PageContent = Reader.ReadToEnd(); PageContent = PageContent.Replace("http://", newUrl + "http://"); PageContent = PageContent.Replace("charts.apis.google.com", newUrl + "charts.apis.google.com"); PageContent = PageContent.Replace(newUrl + "http://maps.google.com/maps/api/", "http://maps.google.com/maps/api/"); context.Response.Write(PageContent); } else { { byte[] bytes = ReadFully(webStream); context.Response.BinaryWrite(bytes); } } context.Response.Flush(); response.Close(); webStream.Close(); context.Response.End(); context.ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest(); } ASPX Page <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site2.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="googlechart.aspx.cs" Inherits="IanLearning.googlechart" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server"> <script type='text/javascript' src='~/googlesecurecharts.ashx?'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google.load('visualization', '1', { 'packages': ['geomap'] }); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap); var geomap; function drawMap() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addRows(6); data.addColumn('string', 'City'); data.addColumn('number', 'Sales'); data.setValue(0, 0, 'ZA'); data.setValue(0, 1, 200); data.setValue(1, 0, 'US'); data.setValue(1, 1, 300); data.setValue(2, 0, 'BR'); data.setValue(2, 1, 400); data.setValue(3, 0, 'CN'); data.setValue(3, 1, 500); data.setValue(4, 0, 'IN'); data.setValue(4, 1, 600); data.setValue(5, 0, 'ZW'); data.setValue(5, 1, 700); var options = {}; options['region'] = 'world'; options['dataMode'] = 'regions'; options['showZoomOut'] = false; var container = document.getElementById('map_canvas'); geomap = new google.visualization.GeoMap(container); google.visualization.events.addListener( geomap, 'regionClick', function(e) { drillDown(e['region']); }); geomap.draw(data, options); }; function drillDown(regionData) { alert(regionData); } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"> <div id='map_canvas'> </div> </asp:Content>

  • Referencing ASP.net textbox data in JavaScripts

    - by GoldenEarring
    I'm interested in making an interactive 3D pie chart using JavaScript and ASP.net controls for a webpage. Essentially, I want to make an interactive version of the chart here: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/piechart#3D I want to have 5 ASP.net textboxes where the user enters data and then submits it, and the chart adjusts according to what the user enters. I understand using ASP.net controls with JS is probably not the most effective way to go about it, but I would really appreciate if someone could share how doing this would be possible. I really don't know where to begin. Thanks for any help! <%@ Page Language="C#" %> <!DOCTYPE html> <script runat="server"> void btn1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { double s = 0.0; double b = 0; double g = 0.0f; double c = 0.0f; double h = 0.0f; s = double.Parse(txtWork.Text); b = double.Parse(txtEat.Text); g = double.Parse(txtCommute.Text); c = double.Parse(txtWatchTV.Text); h = double.Parse(txtSleep.Text); double total = s + b + g + c + h; if (total != 24) { lblError.Text = "Warning! • Alert visualization recipe: Get out your blender, drop in some sp_send_dbmail, Google Charts API, add your favorite colors and sprinkle with html. Blend till it’s smooth and looks pretty enough to taste.

    - by Maria Zakourdaev
      I really like database monitoring. My email inbox have a constant flow of different types of alerts coming from our production servers with all kinds of information, sometimes more useful and sometimes less useful. Usually database alerts look really simple, it’s usually a plain text email saying “Prod1 Database data file on Server X is 80% used. You’d better grow it manually before some query triggers the AutoGrowth process”. Imagine you could have received email like the one below.  In addition to the alert description it could have also included the the database file growth chart over the past 6 months. Wouldn’t it give you much more information whether the data growth is natural or extreme? That’s truly what data visualization is for. Believe it or not, I have sent the graph below from SQL Server stored procedure without buying any additional data monitoring/visualization tool.   Would you like to visualize your database alerts like I do? Then like myself, you’d love the Google Charts. All you need to know is a little HTML and have a mail profile configured on your SQL Server instance regardless of the SQL Server version. First of all, I hope you know that the sp_send_dbmail procedure has a great parameter @body_format = ‘HTML’, which allows us to send rich and colorful messages instead of boring black and white ones. All that we need is to dynamically create HTML code. This is how, for instance, you can create a table and populate it with some data: DECLARE @html varchar(max) SET @html = '<html>' + '<H3><font id="Text" style='color: Green;'>Top Databases: </H3>' + '<table border="1" bordercolor="#3300FF" style='background-color:#DDF8CC' width='70%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='3'>' + '<tr><font color="Green"><th>Database Name</th><th>Size</th><th>Physical Name</th></tr>' + CAST( (SELECT TOP 10                             td = name,'',                             td = size * 8/1024 ,'',                             td = physical_name              FROM sys.master_files               ORDER BY size DESC             FOR XML PATH ('tr'),TYPE ) AS VARCHAR(MAX)) + '</table>' EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail @recipients = '[email protected]', @subject ='Top databases', @body = @html, @body_format = 'HTML' This is the result:   If you want to add more visualization effects, you can use Google Charts Tools https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/index which is a free and rich library of data visualization charts, they’re also easy to populate and embed. There are two versions of the Google Charts Image based charts: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/gallery/chart_gall This is an old version, it’s officially deprecated although it will be up for a next few years or so. I really enjoy using this one because it can be viewed within the email body. For mobile devices you need to change the “Load remote images” property in your email application configuration.           Charts based on JavaScript classes: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery This API is newer, with rich and highly interactive charts, and it’s much more easier to understand and configure. The only downside of it is that they cannot be viewed within the email body. Outlook, Gmail and many other email clients, as part of their security policy, do not run any JavaScript that’s placed within the email body. However, you can still enjoy this API by sending the report as an email attachment. Here is an example of the old version of Google Charts API, sending the same top databases report as in the previous example but instead of a simple table, this script is using a pie chart right from  the T-SQL code DECLARE @html  varchar(8000) DECLARE @Series  varchar(800),@Labels  varchar(8000),@Legend  varchar(8000);     SET @Series = ''; SET @Labels = ''; SET @Legend = ''; SELECT TOP 5 @Series = @Series + CAST(size * 8/1024 as varchar) + ',',                         @Labels = @Labels +CAST(size * 8/1024 as varchar) + 'MB'+'|',                         @Legend = @Legend + name + '|' FROM sys.master_files ORDER BY size DESC SELECT @Series = SUBSTRING(@Series,1,LEN(@Series)-1),         @Labels = SUBSTRING(@Labels,1,LEN(@Labels)-1),         @Legend = SUBSTRING(@Legend,1,LEN(@Legend)-1) SET @html =   '<H3><font color="Green"> '+@@ServerName+' top 5 databases : </H3>'+    '<br>'+    '<img src="http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?'+    'chf=bg,s,DDF8CC&'+    'cht=p&'+    'chs=400x200&'+    'chco=3072F3|7777CC|FF9900|FF0000|4A8C26&'+    'chd=t:'+@Series+'&'+    'chl='+@Labels+'&'+    'chma=0,0,0,0&'+    'chdl='+@Legend+'&'+    'chdlp=b"'+    'alt="'+@@ServerName+' top 5 databases" />'              EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail @recipients = '[email protected]',                             @subject = 'Top databases',                             @body = @html,                             @body_format = 'HTML' This is what you get. It can be used for applicative reports if you need high levels of customization that you cannot achieve using standard methods like SSRS. If you need more information on how to customize the charts, you can try the following: Image Based Charts wizard https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_wizard  Live Image Charts Playground https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_playground Image Based Charts Parameters List https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_params Java Script Charts Playground https://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?type=visualization Use the above examples as a starting point for your procedures and I’d be more than happy to hear of your implementations of the above techniques.
