  • iPhone: how do i redraw subviews while pinch zooming a uiscrollview

    I am developing an iPhone app that places multiple custom UIViews as subviews in a UIScrollView. The subviews are placed on top of each other as transparent views as each view has its own drawing routines that traces parts of the base view. The base view is a UIImageView that is typically a large image that I want the user to be able to pan and zoom in and out of. The problem I am having is that when I zoom in and out of my UIScrollView, the subviews do not redraw themselves while the user is zooming. I can reposition and scale the subviews properly once the zoom is completed, but the user experience is less than desirable. I have not been able to find a way to either hide or redraw the subviews as the zoom is taking place to scale the subviews along with the ImageView. Any ideas? thanks!   • How to interpret trackpad pinch gestures to zoom IKImageBrowserView

    I have an IKImageBrowserView that I want to be able to pinch-zoom using a multi-touch trackpad on a recent Mac laptop. The Cocoa Event Handling Guide, in the section Handling Gesture Events says: The magnification accessor method returns a floating-point (CGFloat) value representing a factor of magnification ..and goes on to show code that adjusts the size of the view by multiplying height and width by magnification + 1.0. This doesn't seem to be the right approach for zooming IKImageBrowserView, whose zoomValue property is clamped between 0.0 and 1.0. So, does anyone know how to interpret the event in -[NSResponder magnifyWithEvent:] to zoom IKImageBrowserView?

    Hi there, I'd like to set up a layer tree containing images. the super layer will be bigger than the iPhone bounds and i'd like the user to drag it with the finger to let him discovering pictures that are out of the screen... is it feasible ? In the same way, I'd like to user to be able to zoom and turn the layer to see more details on images ... I plan to use core animation with layer tree having the super layer holding all images ... Am I on the right path ?

  • Transform/redraw view after pinch zoom on x-axis

    My setup. UIScrollView (scrollView) - UIView (contentView) - UIView (subView) I have managed to do so I can zoom contentView only on the x-axis. The problem is that subView is containing a graph. When contentView is zoomed and transformed the graph gets unsharp and distorded since the scaling only effect the x-axis. What I need help with is to somehow redraw the contentView after I'm done with the zooming without distorting the graph. Is it possible to transform the contentView so that the graph stays sharp even if you only zoom in the x-axis or redraw the content in the zoomed/stretched view somehow? I have tried the solution in this thread link but haven't succeeded to get it running.

    I have been hearing a lot about the website See[Mike]Code. Basically, the site creates an interview url and a job candidate url and lets you see the potential programmer’s code (specifically .NET developer). Below is the candidate’s URL   Below is the interviewer url   So you might think, ah, this is a good thing. We can screen candidates cheaper and more efficiently. In reality, this is only a good thing if you want your programmer to develop using notepad.  I use the most efficient tools that exist to do my job. I would simply fire up VS2010 and type “for” and hit the tab key twice and get the following template.   I have no problem keeping MSDN/Google in one of my monitors. I spend time learning VS macros and using Aurora XAML/Expression to produce my XAML for WPF. Sure, I can write a for loop without using the VS Macro, but the real question is, “Why should I?”. My point being, if you really want to test a .NET programmer knowledge then fire up his native working environment and let him use the features of the IDE to develop the simple 10-line program. For a more sophisticated program, then give him 20 minutes and allow access to msdn/google. If the programmer cannot find at the right path then give him the boot.

  • Is finding graph minors without single node pinch points possible?

    Is it possible to robustly find all the graph minors within an arbitrary node graph where the pinch points are generally not single nodes? I have read some other posts on here about how to break up your graph into a Hamiltonian cycle and then from that find the graph minors but it seems to be such an algorithm would require that each "room" had "doorways" consisting of single nodes. To explain a bit more a visual aid is necessary. Lets say the nodes below are an example of the typical node graph. What I am looking for is a way to automatically find the different colored regions of the graph (or graph minors)

  • Unable to install updates on 14.04 LTS

    I have been getting update notifications for a few weeks now but whenever I attempt to install them I get this message; The upgrade needs a total of 74.6 M free space on disk '/boot'. Please free at least an additional 29.8 M of disk space on '/boot'. Empty your trash and remove temporary packages of former installations using 'sudo apt-get clean'. First of all I don't have permission to access /boot (don't know why as its a standalone machine and i'm the only user). Secondly, I emptied the trash; Thirdly, I launched Terminal and entered sudo apt-get clean I was a asked for a sudo password. I entered my system password. Re-entered sudo apt-get clean. The cursor stopped blinking - I assumed it was doing it's "thing". I let it go for about 10 minutes then exited Terminal. Tried to install the updates but just got the same message. Is there something i'm ignorant of?   • How can I get Pinch to Zoom back in Desktop mode?

    Windows 7 had an old implimentation of Pinch to Zoom where bringing your fingers apart/together would act similar to ctrl + +/-, the standard zoom. It's not as nice as granular zoom (like iOS/Android use) but it worked. Most notably it doesn't work in Chrome (did before) but I haven't noticed it working in any other apps. In windows 8 desktop mode, pinch to zoom doesn't seem to work at all. It doesn't even work in One Note 2010, which, if I recall correctly, had granular zoom in Windows 7. I have an (older) 2 touch point multi-touch monitor, and I can see the visual feedback that the two touch points and coming closer/farther apart, but it doesn't zoom. Note I'm using the touchscreen, not a touchpad or the Arch mouse or other peripherals. Can I enable this somehow or is it gone from Desktop mode? It works fine in Metro apps. Additionally I get weird visual feedback when placing my second finger on the screen; a shrinking transparent square appears somewhere between the two fingers, visually similar to the Right Click visual queue when long-pressing. It's not a right click though, I can't tell what, if anything, it's doing.

  • In a pinch, is it worthwhile to run a bootable USB drive for my primary PC for an extended period?

    My hard drive has crashed, and I won't be able to buy a new one for a month or two. I've got a 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive that I'd like to have running a persistent ubuntu or ubuntu gnome distro. While it's not the best solution, is it a solution, or is it just a good way to wear out a flash drive? I plan on mostly storing things in Google Drive, so other than wearing out the flash drive, are there any risks involved?

  • Exchange Server 2007 Forwarding Circles

    Hello, I asked a question quite a while ago about two members of an organization who wanted to receive all of each other's emails, and yet maintain seperate mailboxes. (so all emails to mike@company get sent to mike and dave and all emails to dave@company get sent to mike and dave). At the time, I actually only needed to implement one side of this (only mikes emails got sent to both receipients) and (with the help of ServerFault) I set up forwarding on dave's inbox so that all of his emails would also be sent to mike. I'm now in a situation where I have to implement the other side of this relation (such that mike's emails will also forward to dave). I still remember how to set up the forwarding rule, but I'm worried that I might be creating a circular forwarding rule such that mike@compnay forwards to dave@company which forwards to mike@company and so on. Can anyone clear up my confusion (just want to make sure I don't make a stupid mistake). Thanks a ton

  • Why is gcc failing with "unrecognized command line option "-L/lusr/opt/mpfr-2.4.2/lib" "?

    My sysadmin recently installed a new version of GCC, in /lusr/opt/gcc-4.4.3. I tested it as follows: mike@canon:~$ cat test.c int main(){ return 0; } mike@canon:~$ gcc test.c /lusr/opt/gcc-4.4.3/libexec/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libmpfr.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory After informing my sysadmin about this, he said to add /lusr/opt/mpfr-2.4.2/lib:/lusr/opt/gmp-4.3.2/lib to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH. After doing this, I get the following error: mike@canon:~$ gcc test.c cc1: error: unrecognized command line option "-L/lusr/opt/mpfr-2.4.2/lib" First, my sysadmin wasn't entirely sure this was the best workaround(though he did say it worked for him...), so is there a better solution? Second, why am I getting a linker error from cc, and how can I fix it?   • Why does calling setScaleX during pinch zoom gesture cause flicker?

    I am trying to create a zoomable container and I am targeting API 14+ In my onScale (i am using the ScaleGestureDetector to detect pinch-zoom) I am doing something like this: public boolean onScale (ScaleGestureDetector detector) { float scaleFactor = detector.getScaleFactor(); setScaleX(getScaleX() * scaleFactor); setScaleY(getScaleY() * scaleFactor); return true; }; It works but the zoom is not smooth. In fact it noticeably flickers. I also tried it with hardware layer thinking that the scaling would happen on the GPU once the texture was uploaded and thus would be super fast. But it made no difference - the zoom is not smooth and flickers weirdly sometimes. What am I doing wrong?

  • How do you measure the value of your software?

    Hi, One of the principles of agile is that you should measure working software: Working software is the primary measure of progress - 12 principles of Agile The thing is, while I can measure my software in terms of stories done, bugs squashed or the volume of defect reports decreasing, I'm stuck on how to measure the value of my software. If I use Mike Cohn as an example and his helping SalesForce.com deliver 500% more value to it's customers compared to the previous year* - how do I measure that increase? How do I measure where I am right now? Other metrics he uses are the number of features and the number of features per developer. This is something I could work out if my backlog was in good order and the stories were cut up by 'feature', but we're just starting out with Agile, so I need some way of working out what the value is we deliver now, then use a similar metric in say, six months, to see if we've increased our output. I've heard about measuring value of software by an uptick in revenue, or an increase in customer satisfaction (how would you measure that though?) but those increases could be attributed to anything in the company (sales, accounting, support) and not directly to the work my department is doing.     I have a result set of data that I want to write to an array in php. Here is my sample data: **Name** **Abbrev** Mike M Tom T Jim J Using that data, I want to create an array in php that is of the following: 1|Mike|M 2|Tom|T 3|Jim|j I tried array_push($values, 'name', 'abbreviation') [pseudo code], which gave me the following: 1|Mike 2|M 3|Tom 4|T 5|Jim 6|J I need to do a look up against this array to get the same key value, if I look up "Mike" or "M". What is the best way to write my result set into an array as set above where name and abbreviation share the same key?
