  • Adding some delay in an recursive loop and breaking out of it on mouseover

    - by Moak
    I have created a loop function loopThem(){ $$('#main-nav a').each(function(i, n) { i.up("#main-nav").down("li.active").removeClassName("active"); i.up("li").addClassName("active"); var target = i.readAttribute("href"); i.up(".home-top").down("li.visible").removeClassName("visible"); i.up(".home-top").down(target).addClassName("visible"); }); loopThem(); } This function is called when the dom is loaded document.observe("dom:loaded", function() { loopThem(); }); It does what I want as far as rotating through a set of banners, however it does so at light speed How Can I A add a delay between the changing? B stop the loop from continuing once I mouse over?

  • How do you get the language from a session in Joomla?

    - by Moak
    I have some code that sets the lang var to the site default language. $lg = &JFactory::getLanguage(); $lg = explode('-',$lg->_default); $dlg = $lg[0]; if(!JRequest::getWord('lang', false )) JRequest::setVar('lang', $dlg ); however before setting it to $dlg I would like to find out if the language is stored in the user information or session. Can someone tell me how to check the session for language information?

  • How to create a hover effect in a newsletter?

    - by Moak
    I'm creating a newsletter, and i want to have panels that change background-color on mouse over. Seeing as the newsletter wont have a head, I am defining all styles inline. I'm pretty sure most popular mail clients will block JS. So I was wondering if I can define a hover effect in the style attribute. Or is there any other solution to achieve this effect? Peace

  • Function to even out multiple arrays

    - by Moak
    Assume I have a function evenOut($array, $limit){ //returns exactly $limit items } and this data $animals = array(); $animals['barn'] = array_fill(0,20, 'b'); $animals['forest'] = array_fill(0,20, 'f'); $animals['house'] = array_fill(0,20, 'h'); $animals['mountain'] = array_fill(0,20, 'm'); I want to return a maximum of 10 animals, however they should be spread out evenly among the locations they come from. so if i did evenOut($animals,8); i'd get 2 of each('b','b','f','f','h','h','m','m',) evenOut($animals,2); should return ('b','f') if I have this data $animals = array(); $animals['barn'] = array_fill(0,1, 'b'); $animals['forest'] = array_fill(0,3, 'f'); $animals['house'] = array_fill(0,8, 'h'); $animals['mountain'] = array_fill(0,1, 'm'); evenOut($animals,8); expected result would be ('b','f','f','f','h','h','h','m',) evenOut($animals,10); expected result would be ('b','f','f','f','h','h','h','h','h','m',) $animals = array(); $animals['barn'] = array_fill(0,0, 'b'); $animals['forest'] = array_fill(0,3, 'f'); evenOut($animals,10); expected result would be ('f','f','f') I'm not sure how I should approach this, I am hoping there is a simple way

  • How do you get the width of an element without a defined width?

    - by Moak
    How would you find out the width of a element that is wrapped by 20 odd other elements, but the only fixed width I know is the main wrapper's which is 800px. All child elements are generally blocks, floating or not, with different paddings and margins. I don't really need the answer to a specific case, I'm just wondering if there are tools or tricks to quickly calculate such things. Thanks
