  Looks like MSDN has made a change to their search. If you navigate to http://msdn.microsoft.com You will see their search on the top of the page. If you put in a search term, Silverlight DataBinding You will see results that are pulled from the forums of msdn, stackover flow and a few other places. You will also be able to see the number of replies to the thread and the threads that have been answered. Great resource..

  Can I go ahead and install a Windows Home Server using an MSDN iso ( en_windows_home_server_installation_disc_x86_dvd_x14-24276.iso ), and activate it later when my OEM box arrives (OEM sku as bougth from Amazon, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-Home-Server-WIN32/dp/B001E5Q8CO/ ) , or will I have to wait and use the media that ships with the license? 1) I know that you can not do his with the trial, but the MSDN iso is listed as "retail". 2) I do not wish to use the MSDN activation key for this install.

• Code Contracts and Pex at MSDN Live 2010

  One of the 6 sessions I and Mikael Nitell is running on MSDN Live 2010 here in Norway is about Code Quality, and part of that session goes through the use of Code Contracts and Pex.  Both fantastic tools ! They can be used togethers, but are also completely independent from each other, and can be used as a single Code Contracts  has to downloaded separately from VS 2010 (works also on VS 2008).   Start looking at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/devlabs/dd491992.aspx . This download is a free download.   Code Contracts originates form the ideas of Bertrand Meyer – Design by Contract, take a look here. Pex is found on the MSDN Subscription download, so it requires an active MSDN Subscription. Start to get it from here http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/pex/downloads.aspx .  The current version as of 14.4.10 is 0.9, which works with the 2010 RC.  A new version is due this week.  Pex is a tool to generate unit tests, and does this very intelligently.  Perfect to make tests for legacy code, but also to make sure you get all paths tested.  See the Reference information and project startup information.

  Environment: VS 2008 Pro SP1 MSDN Library for VS2008SP1 Sample Code: Dim userDataset = New DataSet Dim myDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT UserName FROM tblwebUsers WHERE name = @person", connect) myDataAdapter.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("@person", SqlDbType.NVarChar) When I put my cursor on the "d" in "Add" and press F1, I get an "Information Not Found" error from the MSDN Library. Does anyone have any suggestions for addressing the issue?

  SQL Server 2012 (RC0 Available here) has introduced new analytic functions. These functions were long awaited and I am glad that they are here. Previously when any of this function was needed people use to write long T-SQL code to simulate that and now no need of the same. Having available native function also helps performance as well readability. In last few days I have written many articles on this subject on my blog.   So, I attended the Microsoft Community Evening. The attendance was better than I was expecting for December and we had our first Programming Languages Meeting where Gary did a great presentation on an intro to Ruby. The best surprize of the evening happened when I was about to leave, Robert MacLean asked me how we did our MS licensing – the fact being that we were about to reach the end of our empower license with Microsoft and that I had no idea how we were going to afford upgrading it early next year. Well, out comes a Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN 12 month subscription. An absolute awesome gift – thanks Robert! Best gift ever!

This was an developer focused event, starting out with an overview about structure and platform, followed by working code samples running on the platform, and all needed information to get developers started on development for cloud applications. Participants had Q&A opportunities after each session and made good use of it. I am sure that a lot of developers will jump on the Azure train. Azure is on top of my dev project list after that great event! This platform offers endless opportunities for development and businesses.
