  • usb ntfs pen drive and hard drive not working after connection to ubuntu

    as said in the title first of all i connected a usb key (ntfs formatted) with data in it, on ubuntu 12.04, after i disconnected it i was no more able to access the usb key neither from windows nor from ubuntu 12.04. The system asks me to format my usb key Just now i connected a hard drive ntfs formatted with data in it to ubuntu 12.04. I ejected correctly the hard drive and connected it to windows, and the system asks me to format my hard drive? same as the usb key Can someone help me please ? Would really appreciate!

    My pen will draw without the pen actually touching the tablet. I HAVE SEEN THE OTHER QUESTION about this, but it did NOT answer my question. I have uninstalled re-installed the driver 4 times, I have updated it every time, and my tablet/pen IS NEW. THEY ARE NOT/DO NOT HAVE BUTTONS THAT ARE BROKEN. If anyone can give me an answer besides "Get a new one", please tell me.

    All the items (both files and folders) inside my pen drive had been renamed to some characters like :]h.¡?.A++ and when I try to open any folder Windows gives this message. The filename,directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect I was told that it is a problem of the pen drive, not a virus. They say if I format the pendrive then I will be able to use it again normally. But I'm not sure. And I need those files. Does anybody knows a solution?

I can list at least several kinds of papers I use quite often: Paper notebook, on which I do most of the pre-coding design work and ideas Books Temporary printouts of source code, though not so often (in color, with a 6 point font at 600 DPI) Sticky note, to remind myself of things that should be taken care of within a few days On the other hand, I also use a wiki and an office text editor. Once a while I would use a diagramming software to make a few flowcharts. Deeper questions: Is there a relationship between paper use and productivity? How can programmers help save the trees?   • PEN daemon as load balancer, IIS web logs not showing true requester IPs

    I have a Hercules vmware appliance, which is a micro-linux vm that runs the PEN daemon and acts as a server load-balancer. It takes any incoming request on the appliance's IP and routes it out to a number of alternate IPs. The logs of the daemon show the true IP of the browsers hitting the website. The logs of the websites themselves (iis 6 and 7) only show the requester IP as being that of the load balancer. The IT manager tells me that when we had a hardware appliance (serveriron XL) doing the load balancing, the web logs reflected the requester IPs accurately. Is there any way to get this resolved with the daemon, or will I be digging that out of the closet and plugging it back in?

  • Tablet pen loses pressure sensitivity after screensaver

    Tablet: Genius MousePen 8x6 System: Windows 7 64-bit The question says it all. When I first boot up my machine, the tablet works fine, with pressure sensitivity functionality. However, if I leave the machine long enough for the screensaver to start up, when I return, the tablet works just like a mouse, and does not respond to changes in pen pressure. Unplugging and replugging the device does not fix the problem. Disabling and enabling the device in device manager does not fix the problem. When I try to use the tablet config tool -before- screensaver, the pressure config works fine. It gives you a little area where you can draw to test out the pressure. When I try to use the same tool -after- screensaver, the moment I click on that drawing area, the config tool freezes.

  • How can I create a pen drive that I can boot from, and then install Win98 from?

    I have a HP Compaq t5515 thin client computer with a flash disk and USB port. I want to put Win98 onto it, replacing whatever is on there now (I think it is some Linux-based thing). I can find stuff about putting Win98 onto a pen drive and running from that, but I can't find any info about installing Windows 98 from a pen drive onto a sep[arate system. Is it just a matter of making the pen drive bootable to DOS copying the contents of a Win98 installation CD onto the pen drive booting the HP machine from the pen drive running SETUP.EXE from the pen drive? Any pointers appreciated. TIA

  • Is it important to dispose SolidBrush and Pen?

    I recently came across this VerticalLabel control on CodeProject. I notice that the OnPaint method creates but doesn't dispose Pen and SolidBrush objects. Does this matter, and if so how can I demonstrate whatever problems it can cause? EDIT This isn't a question about the IDisposable pattern in general. I understand that callers should normally call Dispose on any class that implements IDisposable. What I want to know is what problems (if any) can be expected when GDI+ object are not disposed as in the above example. It's clear that, in the linked example, OnPaint may be called many times before the garbage collector kicks in, so there's the potential to run out of handles. However I suspect that GDI+ internally reuses handles in some circumstances (for example if you use a pen of a specific color from the Pens class, it is cached and reused). What I'm trying to understand is whether code like that in the linked example will be able to get away with neglecting to call Dispose. And if not, to see a sample that demonstrated what problems it can cause. I should add that I have very often (including the OnPaint documentation on MSDN) seen WinForms code samples that fail to dispose GDI+ objects.

Also, there are chances that I might have overwritten the memory where the deleted data might have existed. Is there any software to do something about that? I understand that logically whatever is overwritten in memory cannot to fetched back. But still I need to trust the advances in the technology. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • Apache2 server does not start cannot pen shared object file

    I am working with Apache and Passenger for a Rails project. And a during a restart I got the following error Cannot load /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so into server: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory However there is no change in the apache configuration file. I have attached the snippet from the conf file 287 LoadModule passenger_module /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so 288 PassengerRoot /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11 289 PassengerRuby /usr/bin/ruby1.8 I am also unable to locate the shared object file in the location pointed to by the server though I am not really sure how the .so file is works (created/destroyed) I would also appreciate it if someone could explain to me what exactly has happened. I understand the shared object file is mission, what could be the reason it got deleted.

  • I am not able to delete a corrupt NTFS partition on my pen drive. How can I force its deletion?

    I formatted my 16GB pen drive with the NTFS file system in windows vista. After that I started copying some files. However, only a few files were copied to the pen drive before the copy operation hung. So I cancelled the copy operation. Now I am unable to use the pen drive. I DON'T REALLY NEED ANY FILES THAT I COPIED TO THE PENDRIVE. I JUST WANT TO USE THE PENDRIVE AGAIN. I have tried using Ubuntu to format the pen drive. But when i use fdisk to delete the partition, it looks like it is working fine but in fact it does not delete the partition. Also I am unable to format it with any other file system. When I tried to use gparted, it throws the following error: Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 14: The disk contains an unclean file system(0,0). The file system wasn't safely closed on window. Fixing ntfs_attr_pread_i:ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Failed to read NTFS$Bitmap:Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a softRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important!. If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the dmraid documentation for more details When I searched the Internet I found help on how to recover. But I don’t want to recover, I want to format it again. When I pressed w after deleting the partition, it took more time than previously. After that i removed the pen drive and re-inserted, but the partition I had deleted was still present. If I simply type the command fdisk /dev/sdb without removing the pen drive after the partition is deleted, then it returns the error message Unable to open /dev/sdb. Here are the steps that I followed: root@yesuraj-ubuntu:~# fdisk /dev/sdb Command (m for help): d Selected partition 1 Command (m for help): w The partition table has been altered!   • How to use HFS formatted pen drive in Windows 7?

    I recently used disk utility in my mac book pro to format my 8 GB pen drive to install OS X. After that I formatted my pen drive from disk utility as FAT32 so that I would be able to use it in windows. But in windows the pen drive does not show up. When I right click on my computer and click manage and then disk management, the pen drive is listed there, but it doesn't show up in the explorer and I cant use it. I tried to do many things but I'm still not being able to use it in windows though I can use it in Mac OS X. Could anyone help? Thanks.

    Is there any tweaking involved in Ubuntu 10.10 to make the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch work? And is this hardware getting some love from the new multitouch framework? If there's no multitouch support for it, then I'd fall back on the simpler (and cheaper) Wacom Bamboo Pen (to draw, no multitouch)... ENAC's general list of Linux multitouch devices states the following regarding Wacom: "The 'wacom' kernel driver handles these, and is undergoing work to make it compliant with the kernel multitouch protocol." But is this also compatible with Ubuntu's multitouch protocol (which I understand is a different effort than the kernel's)
