  • Windows does not detect any modems anymore[HSPA]

    By an accident i uninstalled my Connect manager (ZTE). but when i re-install it the virtual CD drive is detected but it does not detect the drivers. When i direct to the folder containing the relevant drivers(.sys files) still it doesnt detect. Then i tried a modem of a different brand Huawei the same problem presists As i understand it is not a device(brand) driver specific issue as it does not detect modem(dongles) of any brand. when i plugged in a different USB device(a pen drive) the driver is detected and it works perfectly. Please help me with the issue i have tried system restore but it doesnt work. I want a repair that works without re-installing windows [Edit] I tried Karan's suggested method with usboblivion it didnt work. now im sure that the issue does not deal with the registry

  • How to make Windows 7 use a different name for the Program Files folder?

    How can I properly rename the Program Files folder in Windows 7? That is, not simply rename the directory and create symlinks, but make Windows itself see the location of installed programs as something else. I have already renamed the directory to Programs (using desktop.ini for a localized name in explorer), and made Program Files into a symlink to that, but I wonder if it's ever possible to erase the symlink by configuring Windows to, under all circumstances, assume Programs as the actual name for the programs directory. I heard that it should be possible to choose the name from Windows installation, but I'm not sure. Besides, I don't want to reinstall Windows from scratch. Before you mention %ProgramFiles%, no, it doesn't work. I'm not sure if Windows has that location hard-coded, or if replacing all occurrences in the registry would be enough.

The problem is that the servers are in California and my business is in Chile, soo I only have ssh access to that servers. However when the speed is (1-3kBps) I stop the torrent and Start it again then the speed level climbs to the usual high level (100-200kBps) and gradually drops to (1-3kBps) speeds again . What should be the optimum settings for Number of connections per torrent maximum number of connected peers Maximum number of upload slots per torrent and what ever settings that i need to change to improve the speed

  • How do I get Windows 7 wallpaper to display the company logo properly?

    Windows 7 is not displaying our company background properly. Curves show pixelation and straight lines are jagged. I'm working with a scalable vector graphics (SVG) image that I've exported to the same resolution (pixel dimensions, to be technical) as the desktop, which is 1440x900. I have tried exporting the image as a .png, .jpg, and .bmp. All of these look correct in an image viewing program, such as Windows Photo Viewer and Paint, but when I set the Windows background to these images, curves show pixelation and straight lines are jagged. Reading online, it seems that behind the scenes, Windows is converting the image to a .jpg with low quality compression, which is causing the issue. I've tried setting the image as a background through Internet Explorer, saving it as a .jpg, and putting the file in the Windows photo directory as suggested in some online forums, but none of those solutions have fixed my issue.

  • How create partitions with custom layout in VM on Xen Server?

    We use XenServer with RAID 0, as one disk only (I wonder if this is a good approach, if not what would be ?), then we install Xen. After that we put the centOS 6.4 x64 DVD in the server and try to install it. But when it should came the option to create a custom layout of the partitions, it don't. So when we choose the 'use entire disk', the OS start to be installed, and then create the default layout. With /home bigger than / which we don't want to do that. I wonder if this is a problem with : raid or xenserver or xenclient or centos ?

  • Remote connection to Mysql not working

    We have an application running with CodeIgniter and MySQL in cestacerta.com. Ther are two versions: One that is in production and it works perfectly, and one that is our Development version. This runs locally on my machine and the other developers. The development version needs to remotely connect to the database, and it rather suddenly stopped working. I've given permission to access any IP settings on the server. I can access the database through the MySQL Gui Tools. I have tested access to several different codes, including a newly downloaded version of CodeIgniter and always got the same error: "A Database Error Occurred Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings. Filename: C: \ xampp \ htdocs \ cestacerta \ system \ database \ DB_driver.php Line Number: 119 " What troubleshooting steps can I take determine if the error is on our workstations (which all have the same error) or on our server.

  • IASA South East Florida Chapter Meeting Recap - June 2011

    Erik Russell and Giles Marino were our speakers for the June 2011 IASA South East Florida Chapter meeting.    Attendees filled all available seats at the Microsoft office conference room where the event was held. This highlights the high interest in Enterprise Architecture as a career track and chartered project role. Also in attendance were our Board of Directors and Alex Funkhouser, President, Sherlock Technology.   Rainer Habermann, Chapter President, kicked off the meeting by introducing our speakers and Board of Directors.   Alex Funkhouser, President of South Florida’s staffing firm Sherlock Technology spoke briefly about available Software Architect positions in the area. Alex also congratulated and presented this week’s Sherlock Raffle winner with $500 in cash.   Our speakers Giles and Erik then proceeded with their talk. Erik presented a business case in the government sector where Enterprise Architecture helped a government entity cut costs and streamline its various business operations.   • Supplementary Developer Laptop

    I'm looking to buy a laptop with the following specs for a developer. The goal will be to have a development machine supplementing the devs desktop. During work hours the dev will be on a beefy desktop. For working while on the go: trains, client sites, code camps, it would be nice to have a machine which can run Visual Studio 2008 without needing to remote desktop into their primary machine. What do you think is the lowest cost laptop meeting this need? Here are the specs I have in mind: SSD drive 64GB-doesn't need to be huge, most data is stored on servers. Will need to fit Windows 7, IIS, SQL Server, and Visual Studio 2010. RAM-3GB processor =Pentium Core 2 duo Screen size = 14 inches. OS doesn't matter. It will be paved with Windows 7 Ultimate optical drive omitted would be a plus. weight and battery life aren't so important because the machine will be plugged in almost all the time.

    Hi! I have an application in WPF C# where other than the purpose of what it's done, I customized the close and minimize buttons. The problem is that when I minimize, all is good, I cycle around all other apps, but, when I want to go back to the application, I click in the window in the taskbar, and the window pops up... But when it pops up, the window pursues the mouse pointer throughout the screen... I'd like to update totalOrganization on each row to the total number of employees under them.   • Stringtemplate: is it ok to Apply Templates, in which HashMap uses, To Multi-Valued Attributes

    There is two template in my .stg file, and both of them apply on multi-value a HashMap. The HashMap is employed as an injected object. And I need those instance of HashMap can be injected for many times. My trouble is, when I switch to another template, ANTLR seems to consider the second HashMap as a List -- multipul objects and null value.   • how to create wizard forms in ruby on rails

    I'm trying to understand the best options for pulling off a wizard form in ruby on rails. Ideally I'd like to have it so the application signup has a back and next button that allows the user to submit data in steps. So in step 1 they could fill out contact info. Once they are done they could click next and be on step 2 to fill out payment info, etc. If they make a mistake, they can click back and correct it. Some steps will be required, while others will not, but you do have to make it to the last step to submit the data to the database to sign up. They then need the ability to go back and fill out the past steps in the same fashion after completion. (example: perhaps if they clicked on a profile link they could recomplete the steps in the same fashion because they didn't want to complete all the steps right away. Maybe by being given a skip button before they completed the steps to sign up?). I also need validation to happen on what steps have been completed preventing them from moving onto the next step until corrected or completed. Option 1) I've noticed that ajax has been recommended as an option in other questions on stackoverflow. The only problem I have with it is that the user would not be able to sign up if javascript was disabled. Ideally I'd like to have it be native to ruby on rails but I'm willing to work with whatever is necessary to get it to work.

    Google guice has a built-in logger binding (http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/wiki/BuiltInBindings). But what if I want to use a commons-logging or log4j logger? Can I get guice to inject a Log created by LogFactory.getLog(CLASS.class) But having the same behavior as in built-in binding: The binding automatically sets the logger's name to the name of the class into which the Logger is being injected.. Does it even makes sense? Or shout I simply use the built-in java Logger? Or just use commons-logging without injections?

  • refactor LINQ TO SQL custom properties that instantiate datacontext

    I am working on an existing ASP.NET MVC app that started small and has grown with time to require a good re-architecture and refactoring. One thing that I am struggling with is that we've got partial classes of the L2S entities so we could add some extra properties, but these props create a new data context and query the DB for a subset of data. This would be the equivalent to doing the following in SQL, which is not a very good way to write this query as oppsed to joins: SELECT tbl1.stuff, (SELECT nestedValue FROM tbl2 WHERE tbl2.Foo = tbl1.Bar), tbl1.moreStuff FROM tbl1 so in short here's what we've got in some of our partial entity classes: public partial class Ticket { public StatusUpdate LastStatusUpdate { get { //this static method call returns a new DataContext but needs to be refactored var ctx = OurDataContext.GetContext(); var su = Compiled_Query_GetLastUpdate(ctx, this.TicketId); return su; } } } We've got some functions that create a compiled query, but the issue is that we also have some DataLoadOptions defined in the DataContext, and because we instantiate a new datacontext for getting these nested property, we get an exception "Compiled Queries across DataContexts with different LoadOptions not supported" . The first DataContext is coming from a DataContextFactory that we implemented with the refactorings, but this second one is just hanging off the entity property getter. We're implementing the Repository pattern in the refactoring process, so we must stop doing stuff like the above. Does anyone know of a good way to address this issue?

When running in IIS I can get to the metadata by navigating to the service or by adding service reference in Visual Studio. But when I call a method from my client app it crashes with a internal server error. So I went to the Event Log and found this: WebHost failed to process a request.   • How to "know" of iisreset on a webservice.

    I have a webservice where I want to do something when a the application pool ends, so I thought I'd do: Application_End() { // Some logic here } What happens is if I stop the application pool, this logic is executed. On the other hand, if I just call iisreset, it is NOT. So my question is: where should I put my code so that it is executed in both cases?
