• Laptop Charger Not Recognised Properly on Samsung NP900X3F

  Firstly thanks for your time. Secondly, having an issue with my power charger on my Samsung Series 9 NP900X3F. When I boot into Ubuntu with the charger plugged in it recognises it as charging. When I unplug the charger after this it is still says it is charging. If I suspend in Ubuntu then plug/unplug during this suspended state it recognises it, but not during normal running. If I knew a little more I'm sure I could grab logs and find out what the difference between wake on suspend and normal running is, but alas I need help! I also am having issues with my keyboard backlight via the fn keys, but that I care about far less. Thank you very much. • Win8 x64 Laptop (Samsung) unable to boot after installing Ubuntu

  I posted here a while back and no one was able to help me so I am going to try to explain my problem better. I have a Samsung series 7 Ultrabook and I connected a USB optical drive with an Ubuntu 14.04 installation disc. I did not set or change any of my partitions, however, as I mainly wanted to just be able to boot from the disc and fool around with Ubuntu. Upon restarting my computer I get a blue-screen message saying: Recovery Your PC needs to be repiared The Boot configuration date file is missing some required information. File: \BCD Error Code: 0xc000000d You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installing media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. However I am never given the option to even try to boot to anything. When I turn my computer on the optical drive spins and then after a moment or two comes to a halt. I turned off safeboot and switched it to CSM (I believe that is what it is called) mode, and that makes it so when I turn my computer on it takes me to a Windows Recovery screen. I am able to change the date I want to recover and view all the applications installed, however upon recovering Windows says "All boot options are tried. Press key to recover with factory image using Recovery or any other keys for next boot loop iteration." It seems to be stuck in a loop. Can someone please help me?! I'm so confused and nothing is working!

• Data recovery on a Samsung SV1203N HDD

  Let me start by saying that I am a beginner in Ubuntu, but pretty knowledgeable with Windows. I am having a strange problem trying to recover data from a Samsung SV1203N HDD (120 GiB). I have tried numerous things in both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (on a flash drive, an external HDD and a Live CD). This drive has some very important data on it and I am praying some of you Ubuntu geeks can help me get it back. Here's my problem. The HDD is clicking while I am booting, but it stops when I get into Ubuntu or Windows. It refuses to be detected in the bios, so I cant perform any tests on it. I have tried numerous things in both Windows (repair CD, Jumpers, etc.) and Ubuntu (Boot-Fix, GParted, Testdisk, Photorec, forcing a mount, etc.). But it all seems to lead me back to the fact that the drive is not being recognized in the BIOS. I've even tried chilling the drive in the fridge, which worked well for another drive I work on, and I recovered all of the data in Ubuntu flawlessly. I am assuming that since the drive stops clicking when I get into the OS' that there is hope for recovery. I am going to try an IDE/SATA to USB cable, and replacing the Logic Board, but I want to exhaust all other possibilities before I do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated Bye

  I've implemented a masstransit saga that works as should, a lot of times. However, there are times when the messages go to the error queue or just seem to disappear. I'd like to know: 1. How do I get the reason/exception message that causes a message to go to the error queue? (NOTE: My handler logic is within a try-catch block so apparently these errors happen even before the handler logic is called) 2. What could be responsible for the lost messages? Thanks in advance.

• samsung netbook OS for clean install

  Hello - I recently had a problem with a corrupted registry on a samsung N120. When all else failed i reformatted the drive. However having bought the machine with windows home ed pre-installed, I didn't have original windows disck for the clean install. So I managed to install another edition of windows XP (PRO this time). Now windows opens, but several key functions are missing. e.g.: screen resolution - will not allow me any but 800x600 resolution native buttons - such as the fn + screen brightness is not working at all. Any suggestions please? ? Is there a way to get the samsung OS online (since I do have the manufacturer's/installed product key)? thanks PS: It has been my intention to install ubuntu, but i need to know i will not lose functions like screen brightness, volume, and the trackpad's scrolling function. I'd be happy to bypass the windows option if i was sure to have full keyboard/samsung functionality

• Enable real fixed positioning on Samsung Android browsers

  The Android browser, since 2.2, supports fixed positioning, at least under certain circumstances such as when scaling is turned off. I have a simple HTML file with no JS, but the fixed positioning on three Samsung phones I've tried is simply wrong. Instead of true fixed positioning, the header scrolls out of view then pops back into place after the scrolling is done. This doesn't happen on the Android SDK emulator for any configuration I've tested (2.2, 2.3, 2.3 x86, 4.0.4). It also doesn't happen when using the WebView in an app on the Samsung phones: in those cases the positioning works as expected. Is there a way to make the Samsung Android "stock" browser use real fixed positioning? I've tested: 1. Samsung Galaxy 551, Android 2.2 2. Samsung Galaxy S, Android 2.3 3. Edit Judging by the comments and "answers" it seems that maybe I wasn't clear on what I need. I am looking for a meta tag or css rule/hack or javascript toggle which turns off Samsung's broken fixed-positioning and turns on the Android browser's working fixed-positioning. I am not looking for a Javascript solution that adds broken fixed-positioning to a browser that has no support whatsoever; the Samsung fixed-positioning does that already, it just looks stupid.

  I just got a new laser printer, Samsung ML-1640, and it has once again confirmed my experience that Samsung printers suck badly. The printer prints fine, except that the top margin is set at random, usually very small, cutting text on the top of page off. I tried updating firmware, getting new drivers, but nothing helped. I tried changing paper types, and it seemed that with the paper set as "plain" it was OK, but I just tried printing again after letting the printer rest for the night, and wasted 6 pages until I managed to print 2 boarding passes... Is there anything else I could try to resolve the issue?

  Need to clone and restore existing 64GB HDD onto a 256GB HDD, can't manage to gain access to the internals of this laptop. I checked with Samsung, they do not make manuals available nor will they help over the phone as to how to remove the bottom cover of this Samsung NP900X1A Laptop. They did offer to sell me a manual BUT they are out of stock for another 10-15 days. I saw the screws under the 4 rubber feet and 4 rubber grommets, all removed but the cover is still on.   After installing the Samsung Color Laser Printer CLP-365W in 12.04, the printout is condensed into the left half of the A4 page (regardless whether 'fit to page' on or off). This happens both with the automatically recognised Ubuntu driver and the 'Unified Linux driver' from the Samsung website.   I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6 and another MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5. Neither see my Samsung printer when I click on Bonjour. Needless to say neither will print. I have a Time Capsule connected wirelessly to my MacBook Pros. I have tried reinstalling drivers for the printer but nothing seems to work. I tried this approach because when Apple replaced my Time Capsule and I went to print the way I had initially been running printing requests would get hung up. Any suggestions would be helpful?

  I have bought Samsung 530U3C notebook with i5-3317/12GB RAM/500GB HDD/24GB ExpressCache/Windows 8 preinstalled. I would like to install my own clean version of Win8. But I would like to preserve recovery partition. I will sell this laptop in probably 1-1.5 year and I would like to be able to restore settings to factory ones. What is more, in the future I would like to install Ubuntu as well, but Windows goes first.   I have a 42" Samsung LCD TV connected to a Dell computer with a PCI Radion 9000 via a 35' VGA cable. It's purpose is to run power point presentations over the TV for our retail store. I have tried every combination of button clicking on the video card options, and everything on the TV, and I still get black bars on the top and bottom of the image. It looks like I am watching a old wide screen movie on a full screen TV. The TV's suggested resolution is 1024x768, and that is what the output is set to. I have tried this with a nVida PCI card as well with the same results.

• Dimming the backlight is irreversible on a Samsung Q210 notebook, what do I do?

  I'm new to the community, although I have been using Ubuntu since 2010. I have a Samsung Q210 notebook; Specs: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz × 2 4 Gigs RAM Nvidia 9200m GS (although system information in Ubuntu doesn't know) 194 GB HD OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Kernel is 3.0.0-12-generic-pae Although Samsung seems to be infamous for problems with Ubuntu, after upgrading to Oneiric, finally the FN Brightness Buttons are recognized. The only problem is, after dimming the backlight for a fixed amount of steps (3 or 4, I dare not count now because that would mean rebooting because I can't see anything), the display goes completely dark and using the FN buttons to brighten the backlight does not work anymore (before reaching that threshold, going brighter after dimming works). Now what do I do? File a bug report? If not, what then? If yes, how? Not sure... guess I should ask here first.. thanks for answering in advance.

• ExpressCache not working after Windows 8 reinstall on Samsung Series 7 Gamer

  I have a Samsung Series 7 Gamer laptop which came with Windows 8. After doing a reinstall of Windows, the ExpressCache software is no longer caching. Running "eccmd -info" shows me that the software is present and it has the MSATA drive partition configured. However, it's not actually caching anything. • Shrinking windows and recovery partitions on the samsung new series 9

  I just bought a samsung NP900X3C, and as I was going to install linux, I noticed the windows partitions and recovery partitions occupied a major portion of the disk. The disk is a 128 GB SSD, and I want to keep the windows partition in order to play some games once in a while, but the windows disk is already 45GB full (with no installed programs) and the recovery partition is 20GB. That leaves under 60 GB for linux, which is not optimal, since that is what I'm going to be using most of the time, and there would be no room for games on the windows partition. There are also two small partitions that I don't know what are doing, one 100mb at the start of the disk that I'm guessing is some kind of boot partition, and one 5GB, that is described as an OS/2 hidden C: drive What I'm wondering is: can i delete the recovery partition? What about the mystical 5gb partition?
