    Ok I need to display total talk time of an agent that is coming into SRSS 2005 from SQL 2005 as an INT. For the life of me I cannot figure out what combination of expression editing or format editing I need to use. For the detail portion I can use: =DATEADD("s", SUM(Fields!Talk_Time.Value), CDate("00:00")) And it will return: 1/1/0001 12:00:14 AM Now I can use =LEFT(DATEADD("s", SUM(Fields!Talk_Time.Value), CDate("00:00")),8) Which will return: 12:00:14 But really what I need is: 00:00:14 Please help!

  • Microsoft Reporting 2005 and Report Viewer Report ASP.Net Session Has Expired on Load

    At my job, I have been tasked with fixing an error with our reporting server. That error is ASP.Net Session Has Expired. This error occurs when the Visual Studio ReportViewer 2005 Control attempts to load a report. We are trying to host this report to users hitting our Internet exposed Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6.0. The reportviewer control is attempting to load this report from a second server running Microsoft SQL 2005 w/Reporting Services. The SQL server is not exposed to the Internet. Here is the weird thing. This error never occurs on the development box. When it is transferred to the production IIS server, the error starts to occur. It only happens every time the report is first loaded. If the browser's refresh button is clicked 5-10 times, the report will finally load correctly. I have reproduced this same error on the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, IE 7, and IE 8. The report only takes 10-20 seconds to load. I have tried timeouts in the 300+ second range on the reporting server/iis production server. I have tried a few options like Async (which causes images not to load properly) and setting the session mode to iproc with a high timeout value in the Reporting Server's web.config. I have also tried using the reporting server's IP address in the report viewer's code instead of the server name. I plan on verifying a picture loading issue which I also read about tomorrow when I get into work. I am unsure what service packs Visual Studio 2005 and the MSSQL server are running. Was an update released to fix this problem that I could not find? Does anyone have a fix for this?

    Hi , It's 3 days I'm trying to install SqlServer 2005 under Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. First let me tell you what I've done and what I've got till now . 1-I Installed Windows 7 64 Bit on my computer 2-I tried to install SQl Server 2005 "Developer Edition" 2.1 But in "System Configuration Check" Page i recieved 2 warning , One for "IIS Feature Requirement" and another for "ASP.NET Version Registration Rquired" . 2.1.1 . I installed "Internet Information Services" from "Turn Windows features on or off" section in control panel 2.1.2 I Enabled reporting service 32 bit from "Inetpub= AdminScripts = adsutil.vbs" 2.2 At this stage There was no waring in System Configuration Check 3- So I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition By all default settings 4- I installed Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 64 bit Now when when i run "Management Studio" There is no name in "Server name" section . I typed my Computer name Or "." and i got this Error : A network -related instance-specific error occurred while establishinga connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider , error :40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ) ( Microsoft SQL Server , Error :2) . I googled some for this Error and some people said follow this instruction: Startsql server 2005Configuration toolsSql Server Surface Configuration AreaSurface Area Configuration for services and Connections But i got this Error : No SQl SErver 2005 Components were found on the specified computer . Either no components are installed , or you are not a administrator on this computer (SQLSAC) I'm really tired because of that , and i don't know what's wrong with this . Some more information : I have no additonal software on my computer , like Antivirus or Proxy I tried all step with "Standard Edition" either , but no difference My user is Administrator I tried more than 5 times all those steps including re-installing Windows 7 .   • Count rows against to SQL server (2005) table?

    I have a simple question with two options to get count of rows in a SQL server (2005). I am using VS 2005. There are two options to get the count: SELECT id FROM Table1 WHERE dt >= startDt AND dt < endDt;; I get a list of ids from above call in cache and then I get count by List.Count. Another option is SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Table1 WHERE dt >= startDt AND dt < endDt; The above call will get the count directly. The issue is that I had several cases of exceptions with the second method: timeout. What I found is that the table1 is too big with millions of data. When I used the first option, it seems OK. I am confused by the fact that Count() takes more time than getting all the rows(is that true?). Not sure if the aggregation call with Count() would cause SQL server to create temporary table or cache on server side and it would result in slow performance when table is too big? I am not sure what is the best way to get the count?

    Where is the configuration manager for SQL Express 2005? I need to configure SQL Server for TCP/IP but there is no configuration manager with the package. I see SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard, I see SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access, but no Configuration Manager. According to the MSDN, there should be one. I've even looked online for a download of the Configuration Manager for SQL Server 2005, but could not find one. Did I miss something in the download or should I just scrap SQL Server Express and download the full-blown SQL Server for Developers?

    Hi All, I installed Visual Studio 2008 Professional in my machine and It had installed SQL Server Express 2005 database in machine, and I use it very fine! I installed SQL Managment Studio and works great. So, in this week I Installed Visual Studio 2010 Pro in machine and the setup installed the SQL Server express 2008 and it overwrite the instance of my SQL Server Express 2005. All right, Now, I'd like to know how can I have two instances of the SQL Server Express in my Machine, Express 2005 and Express 2008. I can not access the 2005 , only 2008 :( and my projects uses 2005.. Somebody Help me! thanks Bye

    I am trying to render images from SSRS 2005 via the SOAP call. When the reports service is installed on the same server as my website, the images generated do not render in the page. However, when I connect to the reporting service URL from the same web code on a separate machine the images render just fine. Is there a dependency that I am missing to allow me to run the web and SSRS on the same box?

    I have a reporting setup with SSRS on our sql server 2005 database. Because sql server 2008 is not supported by the main program which populates our database we are stuck with 2005 on our prod database. Unfortunately when I run our weekly check reports the web interface constantly times out because the server cant do the conversion to PDF. I've read that sql server 2008's SSRS is ALOT better with memory management. I was wondering if I can do some kind transact log shipping subscription publication from 2005 to 2008? Am I chasing a dream here. Currently I have to open up the ssrs project in visual studio and run the reports inside because it doesn't ever time out when doing the pdf conversion, only times out if I try to run it through the ssis web interface.

This approach is not ideal as we don't want to have SSMS on an public-facing production server.   • Generating VS 2005 .vcproj's by hand

    I'm working on a script that generates Visual Studio 2005 C++ project files (.vcproj). The script reads a makefile, then spits out a c++ project. INPUT: makefile --- OUTPUT: VS 2005 c++ project (.vcproj) However, when I try to build the auto-generated project in VS 2005, error outputs: "Unspecified Error." Evidently, I am not generating the VS 2005 .vcproj file correctly. Assuming that my c++ project file was malformed, I opened up VS 2005 and made a new C++ project. I actually copied the good, VS 2005-created project file to my non-working, malformed project file. I replaced the Name, Reference Includes (.libs), Compile Includes (.cc, .c), etc. in the good VS 2005 project with my malformed project file's information. However, I still cannot get VS 2005 to compile my .vcproj. Perhaps VS 2005 is very particular about the content of its .vcproj's? Please give me advice on how to manually generate a VS 2005 .vcproj.   • Change the logical name of sql server express 2005 database file?

    In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express for Sql Server Express 2005, I needed to copy a database for testing and keep it on the same server as the old database. I did the following: Right Click on Databases Created new database Detached the database I wanted to copy "Restored" my new database from the backup file of my old database. I did this by clicking the 'Overwrite the existing database' box on the Options pane, and I changed the paths in the 'restore as' options so that they pointed to my new .mdf and .ldf files. Everything is working like I want. Problem is, when I right-click - Properties - Files on my new database, the logical name of the .mdf file is the same as the logical name of the old .mdf file. They are actually different files - they just share the same logical name? I guess maybe this isn't a short-term problem, but I can see it confusing somebody down the road. Any way to change the logical name of the .mdf file? UPDATE EDIT - Apparently you can just change the logical name through the GUI by, get this, clicking on it and typing a new name. I could swear that was not possible when I posted this, but maybe it was and I somehow missed it! Either way - the solution below should still work but doing it through the GUI is also an option.

    Here's the Scenario: We have an existing SQL 2000 Server that has a linked server to a share directory (on another server) containing Visual FoxPro tables; all connections work correctly. Porting the SQL 2000 server to a new SQL 2005 server results in questionable behavior: If you connect to the server, remotely, using Windows Authentication, you receive this error when running a query against the linked server: OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "[linked server name]" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]File 'MyTable.dbf' does not exist.". Msg 7350, Level 16, State 2, Line 2 Cannot get the column information from OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "[linked server name]". However, logged in locally, the query works fine. The query also works correctly when logged in remotely, but using a SQL login. The only scenario I receive the error is when connected remotely, using windows authentication. As I mentioned before, this works on the SQL 2000 server, and both the old and new servers are running under the same network account (which has access to the folder the FoxPro files are in). Doing a little searching on the internet it looks like others have run into this situation, but I haven't found a resolution. Has anyone run into this before?

    Hello. We have two SQL 2005 machines. One is used for production data, and the other is used for running queries/reports. Every night, the production machine dumps (backups) it's database to disk, and the other one restores it. This is called the D-1 process. I think there must be a more efficient way of doing this, since SQL 2005 has many forms of replication. Some requirements: 1) No need for instant replication, there can be (some) delay 2) All changes (including schemas, data, constraints, indexes) need to be replicated without manual intervention 3) It is used for a single database only 4) There is a third server available if needed 5) There is high bandwidth (gigabit ethernet) available between the servers 6) There isn't a shared storage (SAN) available What would be a good alternative to this daily backup/restore routine?     I have to migrate existing data which is in SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. The schema of two databases is different. For Example Locations table in SS2000 is split into two tables and has different columns. This is one time activity. After successful migration I don't need old db anymore. What is the best way to transfer data from one SQL Server to another having different schemas? I can write stored procedures to fetch data from SQL Server 2000 and insert/update tables in SQL Server 2005. What about SSIS? I don't have any experience with this and is this better to create package of SSIS because I don't need this again and need to learn it first. Thanks.

    On my Vista machine at work, applications and the SQL Server Management Console work fine connecting to SQL Server 2005. Sometimes they are ok for weeks at a time, sometime for hours and then they stop connecting. I've tried everything to get it to work including the installation of SPII and running the user provisioning tool without any luck. The only way to fix it was to restart. The Error: Connections are refused with the standard error message: Cannot connect to SERVER_NAME\INSTANCE_NAME ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
