A solution to the game is defined by the team as "determining the final result in a game with no mistakes made by either player". The search for a solution started back in 1989 and it was finally found in 2007. Of what importance is this to the field of AI?

  • Any significance to Google's "expires" date being Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT?

    I was looking at the response headers for my GMail account and noticed that the date Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT shows up as the value for "Expires" over and over again. I suppose this is just an easy constant to make sure the browser understands this is past its freshness date. But is there any significance to that particular date? One might as easily have used the same date in 2000, or 1970, or whatever. It's not quirky enough to be someone's birthday or date of college graduation or anything personal like that. Maybe it's just arbitrary, but I was wondering if someone has a good explanation why that particular date was chosen.

  • What's the significance of this Google Apps error code '0x8004010B' ?

    There seems to be a lack of good information around this particular Google Apps error code. Has anyone found common environmental information that causes this error? Any kind of solution? Uninstalling/re-installing Google Sync doesn't seem to do anything, I've run Outlook's executable that scans/fixes the PST file etc. Task 'Google Apps - ::user email address:: - Sending' reported error (0x8004010B) : 'Unknown Error 0x8004010B' I found a listing of error codes for the Gdata API but nothing for these types of 'unknown' error codes. Does Google have available a list of common 'unknown' error codes/messages? Thanks in advance.

    An image with a pixel resolution of 640 x 480 has additional dimension and resolution parameters according to exiftool. I'm unsure what they mean. Why are the X / Y Resolution parameters the same?Should they not reflect the pixel dimensions of the image? What does Exif Image Size mean and how is it different from the pixel dimensions? What is the focal plane?     What could be a problem that could arise if i do not have the correct hostname as my device name for the cloud server in a control panel of my hosting company basically the device name is supposedly the hostname when i created the cloud server they ensured this was my hostname for my new cloud server. but it looks like they will not allow me to use a domain name that is all digits. currently my host name in the cloud server itself is a domain name that is all digits.

    How awful is it - or is it perfectly acceptable - to index a loop on an enumeration? I have an enumeration defined. The values of the literals are default values. The assigned values do not have any significance, will not have any significance, and the values of any literals added in the future will also not have any significance. It's just defined to limit the allowed values and to make things easier to follow. Therefore the values will always start at 0 and increase by 1. Can I set up a loop like so: enum MyEnum { value1, value2, value3, maxValue } for(MyEnum i = value1; i < maxValue; i = static_cast<MyEnum>(i+1)){}

  • suggest a 'headless' linux dist that i can use to play with firefox, Xvfb and selenium RC?

    i'd like to build a similar replica of the virtual server i hire from my hosting company in order to test a windowless application of firefox using Xvfb. i'd like to do so using a parallels virtual machine on OSX. i'm happy to run some commands to get info but i'm pretty much a linux noob so be gentle! at the moment this is all i really know: [GCC 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-46)] on linux2 thanks :)

    hi, i need to run a really long php script (four and half, five hours). the script sometimes runs successfully, but sometimes gets killed inexplicably (poss something to do with the shared hosting??). i think that the solution maybe to run the script is smaller chunks. in order to do this i have written a script that stores it's status & position in an xml file, and executes one chunk of the script, before moving the position on. i am having problems hooking up the last bit of the script, which should end the current process & re-execute the script. or maybe i am barking up the wrong tree completely! i have read through what i can find on SO and elsewhere but i'm still none the wiser :( please help!!! dan

    whenever i start using sql i tend to throw a couple of exploratory statements at the database in order to understand what is avaliable, and what form the data takes. eg. show tables describe table select * from table could anyone help me understand the way to complete a similar exploration of an rdf datastore using a SPARQL endpoint?
