  Hi all, I want to run & control a process remotely, I found the best way is the WMI APIs, The WMI gives me information about the remote process but I need more control like waiting it and getting the standard output and errors, how can I do that, and can I get an instance of System.Diagnostics.Process class by instance ID remotely? note: I tried to get an instance of the Process by Process.GetProcessByPID and passign machineName parameter, but and Exception has thrown. • Single machine domain with Windows 7 OS

  Is it possible to setup one single machine with Windows 7 x64 OS and somehow make it work as if it's part of a certain domain? So domain controller would be simulated in some way? I would like to avoid VMs and make it actually work on one machine with non server OS. Is there even a simpler way of doing it? Why: I have to setup development environment for Sharepoint 2010 and it will make my life much easier if my machine would be part of a domain.

• Comma comes up instead of single quote with single quote key in MS-Word 2007

  I have a peculiar problem in Microsoft Office 2007 (Word). When I am using single quotes, the first time I type a ' it appears as a , instead. For example, typing ''' translates to ,'' in Word, necessitating me to go back and delete the comma so that I can correctly single-quote words. Is there a solution to this? Also, the dictionary was set to German when I first started using the application, but I set it to US English after that.

  Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services 2.0 has been recently released, and it has passed interoperability tests for SAML 2.0. Does this mean that is can be used to authenticate users of Google Apps which also uses SAML? Has anyone successfully setup Google apps with ADFS 2.0 for single sign on? If you have gotten it to work please tell us what is required to get this working? To put it another way, does someone have a good HOWTO for using ADFS 2.0 and Google Apps together? I was not able to find anything through a search of the web.

We are looking to provide integration with our portal which is currently Luminis 3 (we are upgrading to Luminis 4 within a year). There is documentation available for Luminis specific integration, but apparently it is by request only. I have put the request in to SungardHE (where we license Luminis) and am waiting for a response. My questions are as follows... Is anyone here running Luminis? If so, can you elaborate on implementation details above and beyond your Luminis installation and Google Apps setup?   Greetings, I am looking for a way to do a single sign on to an intranet in the following manner: A Linux user logs on via a graphical frontend (for example, GNOME). He automatically requests a TGT for his username from the MIT Kerberos KDC. Via some way or another, the Apache server (which we'll assume is on the same server as the KDC), is informed that this user has logged in. When the user accesses the intranet, he is automatically granted access to his web applications. I don't think I've seen this kind of functionality while searching the net. I know the following possibilities exist: Using an authentication module such as mod_auth_kerb, a user is presented with a login prompt to enter his username and password, which are then authenticated against the MIT Kerberos server. (I would like this to be automatic.) IIS supports integrated Windows logon via ASP.Net when the user is part of an Active Directory. (I'm looking for the Linux / Apache equivalent.) Any suggestions, criticism and ideas are highly appreciated. This is for a school project to show a proof-of-concept, so every handy piece of information is more than welcome. :)

• SQL 2005 Express Edition - Install new instance

  Looking for a way to programatically, or otherwise, add a new instance of SQL 2005 Express Edition to a system that already has an instance installed. Traditionally, you run Micrsoft's installer like I am in the command line below and it does the trick. Executing the command in my installer is not the issue, it's more a matter of dragging around the 40 MBs of MS-SQL installer that I don't need if they have SQL Express already installed. This is what my installer currently executes: SQLEXPR32.EXE /qb ADDLOCAL=ALL INSTANCENAME=<instancename> SECURITYMODE=SQL SAPWD=<password> SQLAUTOSTART=1 DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 I don't need assistance with launching this command, rather the appropriate way to add a new instance of SQL 2005 Express without actually running the full installer again. I'd go into great detail about why I want to do this but I'd simply bore everyone. Suffice to say, having this ability to create a new instance without the time it takes to reinstall SQL Express etc. would greatly assist me for the deployment of my application and it's installer. If makes any difference to anyone, I'm using a combination of NSIS and Advanced Installer for this installation project.

• Add single sign-on into existing web app

  Apologies if this isn't the best site, I've search for an answer but can't find anything quite right. I don't actually now the correct terminology I should be using here, so any pointers will be appreciated. I have a web application that accessed by many different users across different organisations. Access is provided by each user having a unique username/password which is stored in SQL (database fields are customerID, userID, username). Some organisations are now asking if we can change this to allow "Active Directory single sign-on" so that users don't need to remember yet another set of login details. From research I can see how this is achieved using OpenAuth and Google (etc), but I know hardly anything about AD and can't find much information on this (again I'm sure it helps when you know the terminology). Is this request even possible to achieve, given that most users will be from different (and unrelated) organisations? I saw on a Microsoft Build video not long ago that there is some kind of replication service for AD to allow Cloud authentication. Is this what I should be aiming for?

• Best practice for copying private instance vars with NSCopying

  I might be missing something obvious here, but I'm implementing NSCopying on one of my objects. That object has private instance variables that are not exposed via getters, as they shouldn't be used outside the object. In my implementation of copyWithZone:, I need alloc/init the new instance, but also set up its state to match the current instance. I can obviously access current private state from inside copyWithZone:, but I can't set it into the new object, because there are no accessors for that state. Is there a standard way around this while still keeping data privacy intact? Thanks.

• Deployment of SQL Server: installing a second instance?

  Simple problem. I'm working on a Delphi 2007/WIN32 application which now uses MS Access as simple data store. I have to modify it to support SQL Server Express, which is easy. These modifications are working so the application can be deployed using either SQL Server or MS Access. (Whatever the user prefers.) I did consider deploying the whole application together with the SQL Compact but this is not practicak. Using SQL Server Express 2008 instead of 2005 is an option, but also has a few nasty side-effects which we don't want to resolve for now. The problem is deploying the whole project. The installation with SQL Server would need a quiet installation so the user won't notice it. SQL Server is mentioned in the documentation so they know it's there. We just don't want to bother them with technical issues. In most cases, such an installation will go just fine. But what if the user already has an SQL Server (2005) installation which is used for something else? Personally, I would prefer to just install a second instance of SQL Server on their system so it won't conflict with the other installation. (Thus, if they uninstall the other app, the SQL instance will just stay installed.) While SQL Server 2005 and 2008 can be installed on the same system simply by using two different names for the instance, I wonder if it's also possible to install SQL Server 2005 twice on a single system to get two instances. And if possible, how?
