  • Creating new Entities from Stored Procedure

    I have a stored procedure that retrieves existing rows from a table and also creates includes new rows that match the table definition and mapped entity (.net 3.5 entity framework). These new rows are not written to the database in the stored procedure. The stored procedure executes, but the new rows that were created will not load the navigation properties sucessfully i.e. the rows that do not actually exist in the database. e.g. database rows: key, data, FK 1, xxx, a 2, xxx, b returned rows from stored procedure: key, data, FK 1, xxx, a 2, xxx, b 3, yyy, a 4, yyy, b The entity will load FK entities a and b for rows 1 and 2, but for rows 3 and 4 the FK entity is null. Do I somehow need to add the new rows to the data context? or turn off tracking?

Its method signature indicates that it can be thrown, but from the source code there doesn't seem to be any place where this could happen, unless it's in native code. What corrective action, if any, could be taken at the point where that exception is caught?

    I'm building a 4 layered ASP.Net web application. The layers are: Data Layer Entity Layer Business Layer UI Layer The entity layer has my data model classes and is built from my entity data model (edmx file) in the datalayer using T4 templates (POCO). The entity layer is referenced in all other layers. My data layer has a class called SourceKeyRepository which has a function like so: public IEnumerable<SourceKey> Get(SourceKey sk) { using (dmc = new DataModelContainer()) { var query = from SourceKey in dmc.SourceKeys select SourceKey; if (sk.sourceKey1 != null) { query = from SourceKey in query where SourceKey.sourceKey1 == sk.sourceKey1 select SourceKey; } return query; } } Lazy loading is disabled since I do not want my queries to run in other layers of this application. I'm receiving the following error when attempting to access the information in the UI layer: The ObjectContext instance has been disposed and can no longer be used for operations that require a connection. I'm sure this is because my DataModelContainer "dmc" was disposed. How can I return this IEnumerable object from my data layer so that it does not rely on the ObjectContext, but solely on the DataModel? Is there a way to limit lazy loading to only occur in the data layer?

The correct format should be "Hello \" dog \" " . I would like remove apostrophes from this property. Something Like this. "Hello "dog" ". - "Hello dog ".   • Properly configuring Linux keyboard on my laptop

    Hey! I have a ps/2 keyboard connected to an Acer Aspire 1694 WLMI via a ps/2 to usb converter. The laptop is running Ubuntu 9.04. The keyboard is a HP model number: SK-250C. I have configured in the 'Keyboard Preferences' the layout to HP SK-250x Multimedia Keyboard. The big problem is when I press certain keys (like for example the arrow keys) I get the 'Save Screenshot' dialog. This is really getting annoying, sometimes I am tying to write an address in browser and just want to go back a few letters and can't. There are other keys that trigger the dialog also (windows key, insert key, home key, page up and page down key, delete key, end key) All works fine If I use the laptop keyboard, but I really want to use the HP keyboard. EDIT: I was testing this and it seems that if I have the 'Num Lock' key turned off the keys work properly. Strange but true!!

    I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?

    In this article i'm gonna show you how i do when i have to update some content with AJAX and i have to change the URL. First, let's see an example to understand it better. If the user is reading a News with Id 1 and he clicked on another News with Id 2, if we update the content with AJAX the user is now reading the News Id 2 but the URL remains the same, for example: http://localhost/News/Read/1 Now let's see another example from Facebook. If i'm reading my profile and i click on Photos, Facebook updates it with AJAX and the URL switch to: http://www.facebook.com/guilhermegeek#!/guilhermegeek?sk=photos If we enter on that URL, it's mapped to: http://www.facebook.com/guilhermegeek?sk=photos The trick here is the parameters that we use after the #!. Those parameters are never sent to the server side, so we handle them on the client side (javascript).In the example of Facebook, he receives my profile name (guilhermegeek) and the action is to read photos. A few time ago i've written an article in my Portuguese blog explaining how to use an alternative to clients with javascript disabled. Like this: <a onclick="javascript:ReadNews(id);" href="#!News/Read/@id/">Title</a> When the user enter the link of that news, my function Read(); fills the News in the page. Then, i add the #!News/Read/@id/ to my URL. As this script (phpmyedit) is dinamically generated, when I press the 'Add' button, I get the form to fill but the URL has no changes. How can I create some custom URL for the ADD button, that allows me to access externally and also pass parameters through the URL?
