  • Extracting a table row with a particular attribute, using HTMLAGILITY pack

    - by Soham
Consider this piece of code: <tr> <td valign=top class="tim_new"><a href="/stocks/company_info/pricechart.php?sc_did=MI42" class="tim_new">3M India</a></td> <td class="tim_new" valign=top><a href='/stocks/marketstats/indcomp.php?optex=NSE&indcode=Diversified' class=tim>Diversified</a></td> I want to write a piece of code using HTMLAgility pack which would extract the link in the first line.

  • Can somebody link me to some code where there is a fantastic or a nice use of Inheritance

    - by Soham
I strongly believe that, reading code and reading good code is key to great programming. If not one of the many. I had been facing some problems in visualizing and having a "feel" of using inheritance to better my code architecture. Can somebody give me some link to good code to emulate, where folks have used inheritance in an absolute "kung-fooey ruthless" manner [in a good way]

  • Enterprise Library--Validator.cs How Abstract Class having definition??

    - by Soham
Consider this piece of code: public abstract class Validator { protected Validator() { } protected abstract void ValidateCore(object instance, string value, IList<ValidationResult> results); public void Validate(object instance, string value, IList<ValidationResult> results) { if (null == instance) throw new ArgumentNullException("instance"); if (null == results) throw new ArgumentNullException("results"); ValidateCore(instance, value, results); } } TAKE a look at Validate() overload, how can an abstract class have definitions like this?

  • How does this XPATH query differentiate?

    - by Soham
I am kind of repeating this question because mostly due to my own ignorance, I could not fully understand the innards. Given this HTML snippet <td valign=top class="tim_new"><a href="/stocks/company_info/pricechart.php?sc_did=MI42" class="tim_new">3M India</a></td> <td class="tim_new" valign=top><a href='/stocks/marketstats/indcomp.php?optex=NSE&indcode=Diversified' class=tim>Diversified</a></td> How does this XPATH //a[@class='tim_new'] differentiate between line 1 and line 2.

  • A general declaration for all inherited classes

    - by Soham
Consider, there is a class called SuperClass from which, ClassA, ClassB, ClassC is derived. From each one of those derived Classes, there are further more two classes are derived each called ChildClassAA and ChildClassAB[AB stands for Bth Child class from the Ath Class.Lets not really pull our hair on this nomenclature]. Now, ideally, I want to declare a general type as a private member of another Class say IndependentClass which can be initialized during run time as either of the objects of type ClassAor ClassB or ClassC and even the derived classes like ClassAA or ClassAB. Is there a possible way to do it?

  • Serialization of Queue type not working

    - by Soham
Consider this piece of code: private Queue Date=new Queue(); //other declarations public DateTime _Date { get { return (DateTime)Date.Peek();} set { Date.Enqueue(value); } } //other properties and stuff.... public void UpdatePosition(...) { //other code IFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); Stream Datestream = new MemoryStream(); formatter.Serialize(Datestream, Date); byte[] Datebin = new byte[2048]; Datestream.Read(Datebin,0,2048); //Debug-Bug Console.WriteLine(Convert.ToString(this._Date)); Console.WriteLine(BitConverter.ToString(Datebin, 0, 3)); //other code } The output of the first WriteLine is perfect. I.e to check if really the Queue is initialised or not. It is. The right variables are stored etc. (I inserted a value in that Queue, that part of the code is not shown.) But the second WriteLine is not giving the right expected answer: It serializes the entire Queue to 00-00-00.

  • Overloading with same parameter signature

    - by Soham
In C#, is it possible to have same parameters yet override each other(they are different in the return types) public override Stocks[] Search(string Field, string Param){ //some code} public override Stocks Search(string Field, string Param){//some code} C# returns compilation error

  • Program using read() entering into an infinite loop

    - by Soham
    1oid ReadBinary(char *infile,HXmap* AssetMap) { int fd; size_t bytes_read, bytes_expected = 100000000*sizeof(char); char *data; if ((fd = open(infile,O_RDONLY)) < 0) err(EX_NOINPUT, "%s", infile); if ((data = malloc(bytes_expected)) == NULL) err(EX_OSERR, "data malloc"); bytes_read = read(fd, data, bytes_expected); if (bytes_read != bytes_expected) printf("Read only %d of %d bytes %d\n", \ bytes_read, bytes_expected,EX_DATAERR); /* ... operate on data ... */ printf("\n"); int i=0; int counter=0; char ch=data[0]; char message[512]; Message* newMessage; while(i!=bytes_read) { while(ch!='\n') { message[counter]=ch; i++; counter++; ch =data[i]; } message[counter]='\n'; message[counter+1]='\0'; //--------------------------------------------------- newMessage = (Message*)parser(message); MessageProcess(newMessage,AssetMap); //-------------------------------------------------- //printf("idNUM %e\n",newMessage->idNum); free(newMessage); i++; counter=0; ch =data[i]; } free(data); } Here, I have allocated 100MB of data with malloc, and passed a file big enough(not 500MB) size of 926KB about. When I pass small files, it reads and exits like a charm, but when I pass a big enough file, the program executes till some point after which it just hangs. I suspect it either entered an infinite loop, or there is memory leak. EDIT For better understanding I stripped away all unnecessary function calls, and checked what happens, when given a large file as input. I have attached the modified code void ReadBinary(char *infile,HXmap* AssetMap) { int fd; size_t bytes_read, bytes_expected = 500000000*sizeof(char); char *data; if ((fd = open(infile,O_RDONLY)) < 0) err(EX_NOINPUT, "%s", infile); if ((data = malloc(bytes_expected)) == NULL) err(EX_OSERR, "data malloc"); bytes_read = read(fd, data, bytes_expected); if (bytes_read != bytes_expected) printf("Read only %d of %d bytes %d\n", \ bytes_read, bytes_expected,EX_DATAERR); /* ... operate on data ... */ printf("\n"); int i=0; int counter=0; char ch=data[0]; char message[512]; while(i<=bytes_read) { while(ch!='\n') { message[counter]=ch; i++; counter++; ch =data[i]; } message[counter]='\n'; message[counter+1]='\0'; i++; printf("idNUM \n"); counter=0; ch =data[i]; } free(data); } What looks like is, it prints a whole lot of idNUM's and then poof segmentation fault I think this is an interesting behaviour, and to me it looks like there is some problem with memory FURTHER EDIT I changed back the i!=bytes_read it gives no segmentation fault. When I check for i<=bytes_read it blows past the limits in the innerloop.(courtesy gdb)
