  • Disabling Minimize & Maximize On WinForm?

    Hello SO and happy Friday, WinForms have those three boxes in the upper right hand corner that minimize, maximize, and close the form. What I want to be able to do is to remove the minimize and maximize, while keeping the close. I also what to make the close minimize the form instead of closing it. How can this be done?

  • How do I design this link table?

    Ok SO, I have a user table and want to define groups of users together. The best solution I have for this is to create three database tables as follows: UserTable user_id user_name UserGroupLink group_id member_id GroupInfo group_id group_name This method keeps the member and group information separate. This is just my way of thinking. Is there a better way to do this? Also, what is a good naming convention for tables that link two other tables?

  • Inserting Strings Without Trailing Spaces SQL

    I have a database with a field named Field1 that has 100 nchars per entry. Each time I add a value, it is stored as: "value (100-ValueLength Spaces) " So Basically each stored value has a string of spaces after it. This is getting to be an issue when I try doing: if (value == "Example") because of all of the empty spaces after the string. How can I get it so the stored values don't have all of these trailing spaces?

I'm a fair ways into my project now and I have a lot of general use methods I want to put into an utilities class. Is there a best way to create an utilities class? public class Utilities { int test; public Utilites() { } public int sum(int number1, int number2) { test = number1+number2; } return test; } After creating this Utilities class, do I just create an Utilities object, and run the methods of my choosing?     I have a C# application that I'm trying to get to update automatically via ClickOnce. After publishing newer versions of software, I see the new versions in my publish folder, but when I open the application, it checks for updates, and does nothing (even though there are new files in the publish folder). What do I need in place for updates to be made automatically? Edit What version of Visual Studio are you using? Visual Studio 2008 Are you deploying the upgrades to the same location as the old version? They are being published to the same location (not sure about deployed) Is the installation URL the same?     I am trying to write a query that grabs information from one database and joins it to information in a different database. TableA idA valueA idB TableB idB valueB The tricky part is that in TableA, idB isn't always defined, so when I do a normal join, I only get results where TableA has a idB value. What I want is to be able to grab all of the information from TableA even if it doesn't have a corresponding idB value.

    Hello SO, I have a slight issue with some code I'm writing if(parameter == 1) { var linq = from a in db.table select a; } else { var linq = from a in db.table where a.id = 1 select a; } foreach(var b in linq) { ... } So basically what's going on is that the variable "linq" is different depending on the value of "parameter". When I try to loop through "linq" with my foreach loop, I get an error about how linq doesn't exist in the current context. What is the best way to work around this type of issue?

  • When Something Occurs in a BackgroundWorker, Trigger Code on a Different Thread?

    I have a background worker that runs and looks for stuff, and when it finds stuff, I want to update my main WinForm. The issue that I'm having is that when I try to update my WinForm from my background worker, I get errors that tell me I can't modify things that were made outside of my background worker (in other words, everything in my form).     I have a schedule checker that needs to run until a user presses a key to make it stop. My thoughts on doing this are as follows: The user starts the process Process runs every 10 seconds When the process is not running, Console.ReadLine(); gives the user the option to press "q" to stop the process My approach would work fine except the user would have to wait however long the process takes to complete before being able to stop it. Is there any way to simultaneously run the process while being able to take a user input?

I want to select a row in TableB based on AValue using a join. The following query is what I have and only grabs a value from TableB based on AId, I just don't know how to grab a row from TableB using AValue.     How can I use randomize and rnd to get a repeating list of random variables? By repeating list, I mean if you run a loop to get 10 random numbers, each random number in the list will be unique. In addition, if you were to run this sequence again, you would get the same 10 random numbers as before.
