  • PHP check if file exists on my server, based on a full URL

    - by stef
    I have an app that generates invoices in the form of PDF files stored in a directory on my server. Before mailing out this invoices I'd like to make sure that the URL (not server path) which I store in my DB does indeed point to a valid PDF file. Something could have gone wrong that wrote a value to that field in the db, but for example the filename is missing; meaning the file is not in the specified directory. AFAIK file_exists just checks server paths but not URL's. I could always store the server path too, or assemble it, but I'm wondering if i can do this check based on a full http url ending with a filename? EDIT: yeah CURL occurred to me too but doesn't that seem a bit heavy for such a simple task? Perhaps I should just store the server path too.

  • How to define a collection in a POCO in Entity Framework 4?

    - by Stef
    Lets say I've a Team class which contains 0 or more Players. The Player class is easy: public class Player { public long Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public Team Team { get; set; } } But whats the best to define the Team class? Option 1 public class Team { public long Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public ICollection<Player> Players { get; set; } } Option 2: public class Team { public Team() { Players = new Collection<Player>(); } public long Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public ICollection<Player> Players { get; set; } } Option 3: public class Team { public long Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public IQueryable<Player> Players { get; set; } } Option 4: public class Team { public long Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public ObjectSet<Player> Players { get; set; } }

  • altering jQuery UI datepicker format

    - by stef
    i cant for the life of me figure out how to change the date from default mm/dd/yyyy to the european dd/mm/yyyy the manual states to use: $.datepicker.formatDate('yy-mm-dd', new Date(2007, 1 - 1, 26)); so far i have: $('#next_date').datepicker(); which shows the calendar fine but im not sure where the first line of code goes. this for example disables the calendar, nothing shows up, no js errors reported $('#next_date').datepicker.formatDate('yy-mm-dd', new Date(2007, 1 - 1, 26));

  • Regex to get value of URL parameter?

    - by stef
    In a url like the one below, I'd like to get the value of ProdId. The URL format will always be consistent, as will the parameter name, but the length of the value may change. It will always be numeric. http://www.site.com/page.php?ProdId=2683322&xpage=2 Using PHP what's the fastest way to get it (I'll be processing 10,000's so speed is an issue) ?

  • How can I find out what the current charset is in C++?

    - by Stef
    How can I find out what the current charset is in C++? In a console application (WinXP) I am getting negative values for some characters (like äöüé) with (int)mystring[a] and this surprises me. I was expecting the values to be between 127 and 256. So is there something like GetCharset() or SetCharset() in c++?

  • How to call a Zend lucene search function?

    - by stef
    I inherited a Zend project devoid of comments and I didn't get to talk to the previous developer. Since I have no Zend experience I'm having some issues :) I'd like to print out some variables inside an function that indexes items from the site using Zend_Search_Lucene because I think something is going wrong here. From what I've read, ::create creates a new index and ::open updates it. So it's in this ::open function I'd like to print out some variables. The name and params of the function are below. Does anyone have any idea how this function can be called so I can run some tests? private function search($category,$string,$page = 1,$itemsByPage = 5) EDIT: OR, is there a way I can nuke the existing index and force it to be rebuilt completely, for example by deleting the index files on the FS and then performing some searches?

  • Communicating between an overlayed iFrame and the underlying page (LAMP)

    - by stef
    I have a small form is to be filled in. If the user is logged in, the form is submitted as normal. If the user is not logged in, I show an overlayer with an iframe'd page that contains a login box where he enters his credentials. If the credentials are correct I can "break out" of the frame to "return" to the main page, but how can I update this main page for example to show "you are now logged in" and to change the JS / PHP login that determines whether or not the form can be submitted normally and not be intercepted again by the overlayer prompt? Afaik, these two separate pages are not aware of each other so I'm struggling to find a solution to this problem. This is in a LAMP / jQuery / CodeIgniter environment. EDIT: Could CodeIgniter's XML RPC class be useful for this?

  • NSPredicate always gives back the same data

    - by Stef Geelen
    I am trying to work with NSPredicates. But it always give me back the same array. Here you can see my predicate. NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"whichAlbum.album_id == %d", AlbumId]; [request setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Picture" inManagedObjectContext:self.genkDatabase.managedObjectContext]]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; Also when I try it hardcoded. It gives back the same array. NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"whichAlbum.album_id == 5"]; Here you can see my database model. And here you can see how I put data in my database for entity Picture. + (Picture *)pictureWithGenkInfo:(NSDictionary *)genkInfo inManagedObjectContext:(NSManagedObjectContext *)context withAlbumId:(int)albumId withPictureId:(int)pictureId; { Picture *picture = nil; picture = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Picture" inManagedObjectContext:context]; picture.url = [genkInfo objectForKey:PICTURES_URL]; picture.pic_album_id = [NSNumber numberWithInt:albumId]; picture.picture_id = [NSNumber numberWithInt:pictureId]; return picture; } Anybody can help me ? Kind regards

  • Use jQuery on a variable instead on the DOM ? [solved]

    - by Stef
    In jQuery you can do : $("a[href$='.img']").each(function(index) { alert($(this).attr('href')); } I want to write a jQuery function which crawls x-levels from a website and collects all hrefs to gif images. So when I use the the get function to retrieve another page, $.get(href, function(data) { }); I want to be able to do something like data.$("a[href$='.img']").each(function(index) { }); Is this possible ? ...UPDATE... Thanks to the answers, I was able to fix this problem. function FetchPage(href) { $.ajax({ url: href, async: false, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#__tmp__").append("<page><name>" + href + "</name><content>" + html + "</content></page>"); } }); } See this zip file for an example how to use it.

  • Running CodeIgniter cron on localhost

    - by stef
    I'm trying to get a cron job to run every 5 min on my localhost. Using the Cronnix app I entered the following command 0,5 * * * * root curl http://localhost:8888/site/ > /dev/null The script runs fine when I visit http://localhost:8888/site/ in my browser. I've read some stuff about getting CI to run on Cron, using wget and various other options but none make a lot of sense. In another SO post I found the following command wget -O - -q -t 1 http://www.example.com/cron/run What is the "-O - -q -t 1" syntax exactly? Are there other options?

  • jquery .animate - image gets cropped during animation

    - by stef
    Hello all, I am currently programming a carousel with javascript using the jquery library. Basically, there are three images shown, the central image being bigger than the two others. Upon going left or right, the central images is resized from 115px*115px to 50px*50px and tossed left or right, depending on the user input. The problem is that when the resize happens, the central image gets gradually cropped until it reaches the 50px*50px and then return to a more normal state: http://www.filedropper.com/imggetscropped Javascript is as follow: $("div#carousel .item:eq(2)").animate({'width':'50px', 'height':'50px', 'opacity':'0.5'}, {queue:false, duration:900}); $("div#carousel .item:eq(2) img").animate({'width':'50px', 'height':'50px', 'marginTop': '30px'}, {queue:false, duration:900}); $("div#carousel .item:eq(1)").animate({'width':'115px', 'height':'115px', 'opacity':'1'}, {queue:false, duration:900}); $("div#carousel .item:eq(1) img").animate({'width':'115px', 'height':'115px', 'marginTop': '0px'}, {queue:false, duration:900}); $("div#carousel .item:not(eq(2))").animate({'left':'+=56px'}, {queue:false, duration:900}); $("div#carousel .item:eq(2)").animate({'left':'+=122px'}, {queue:false, duration:900, complete: carousel.toggleInput}); Images used are png with transparency.

  • Misunderstanding function pointer - passing it as an argument

    - by Stef
    I want to pass a member function of class A to class B via a function pointer as argument. Please advise whether this road is leading somewhere and help me fill the pothole. #include <iostream> using namespace std; class A{ public: int dosomeA(int x){ cout<< "doing some A to "<<x <<endl; return(0); } }; class B{ public: B(int (*ptr)(int)){ptr(0);}; }; int main() { A a; int (*APtr)(int)=&A::dosomeA; B b(APtr); return 0; } This brilliant piece of code leaves me with the compiler error: cannot convert int (A::*)(int)' toint (*)(int)' in initialization Firstly I want it to compile. Secondly I don't want dosomeA to be STATIC.

  • PHP sort multidimensional array by value

    - by stef
    How can I sort this array by the value of the "order" key? Even though the values are currently sequential, they will not always be. Array ( [0] => Array ( [hashtag] => a7e87329b5eab8578f4f1098a152d6f4 [title] => Flower [order] => 3 ) [1] => Array ( [hashtag] => b24ce0cd392a5b0b8dedc66c25213594 [title] => Free [order] => 2 ) [2] => Array ( [hashtag] => e7d31fc0602fb2ede144d18cdffd816b [title] => Ready [order] => 1 ) )

  • NSString inheritance

    - by Stef
    Hi, I'm doing an useless thing for my first step in Obj-C @interface String : NSString { int m_isnull; } - (id) init; - (int) isNull; @end @implementation String - (id) init { self = [super init]; m_isnull=1; return self; } - (int) isNull { return m_isnull; } @end test : String *a; a=@"ok"; Works fine, but just 2 little questions 1) When I'm compiling I have this warning warning: incompatible Objective-C types assigning 'struct NSString *', expected 'struct String *' I don't know how to avoid it !? 2) a=@"ok" is a fastest way to initialize a string, but when I'm debugging, I don't stop by at my init constructor why ?

  • Adding an element to a multidimensional array

    - by stef
    How can I loop through the array below and an element per array, with key "url_slug" and value "foo"? I tried with array_push but that gets rid of the key names (it seems?) Doing a foreach($array as $k = $v) doesn't do it either, I think. The new array should be exactly the same only having 4 elements per array instead of 3, with the key / values above. Array ( [0] => Array ( [name_en] => Test 5 [url_name_nl] => test-5 [cat_name] => mobile ) [1] => Array ( [name_en] => Test 10 [url_name_nl] => test-10 [cat_name] => mobile ) [2] => Array ( [name_en] => Test 25 [url_name_nl] => test-25 [cat_name] => mobile ) ) EDIT: full working solution. A little more complex than originally described foreach ($prods as $key => &$value) { if($key == "cat_name") $slug = $value['cat_name']; $url_slug = $this->lang->line($slug); $value['url_slug'] = $url_slug; }

  • Mod a Swing Arm Lamp into an Adjustable Camera Stand

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
    If you’re looking for a simple way to get a bird’s eye view to record your DIY projects or other table-based activities like gaming or tinkering, this simple modification to a swing-arm lamp offers a highly flexible camera mount on the cheap. IKEAHacker reader Stef needed an adjustable arm for his iPhone camera so he could record in a top-down-view for some drawing tutorials he was working on. Rather than shell out big bucks for a custom boom arm, he scrounged up a swing arm lamp with a broken shade in the as-is bin at his local IKEA. To mount the iPhone he simply attached a car mount for the iPhone to the swing arm and called it good. Hit up the link below for more pictures; even if you don’t have an IKEA nearby, swing arm lamps are cheap and easy to acquire.
