  • Putting (WordPress) tags in <footer> tag, good for SEO or not?

    I am using tags for my posts on my WordPress site. The content of my post is set in <article> tags, which is fine and now, I want to put the author link and tags in a <footer> tag, but I don't know if this is good for SEO reasons. I know that Googlebots are putting less weight if they see links in a footer, but will this effect my tag pages? Is there any harm? I would love to read a good explanation on this.

  • CSS Relative sized header/footer

    Hi I'm not a CSS expert so I might be missing something obvious. I'm trying to set a relative size header and footer (so that on larger monitors, the header and footer are larger than on smaller screens). To do this, I'm using a percentage height. However, this only works if I set the position to absolute. The problem is, setting it to absolute means that it overlaps the main part of the screen (inbetween the header and footer). Setting it to relative doesn't work since it relies on items being inside the header/footer. This is what my header looks like: .header { position:absolute; top:0px; background-color:white; width:100%; height:30%; } the ASPX page simply contains <div class="header"></div> Is there a way to get relatively proportioned header and footers?   • Footer height based on screen size

    Hi everyone, I would like to create a footer which is relative to the content (so not fixed), but fills the rest of the screen. So for example, on my larger monitor, the footer would start in the same place, but fill up 100px (for example). On a smaller monitor, it only needs to fill up 75px. I tried using 100%, but it causes the page to be really big and the user can scroll down and fill the entire screen with the footer. Is there a way to get it to be a bit more reasonable size, so that it just about fills the bottom of the screen? My current code is this: .footer { position:relative; //can't be fixed as content might overlap if extended height:100%; width:100%; //fill the entire screen horizontally bottom:0px; margin-top:345px; //used to make sure content doesn't overlap } Thanks for any ideas

    I've been using this snippet of jQuery to get a sticky footer: if($(document.body).height() < $(window).height()){ $("#footer").css({position: "absolute",top:($(window).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-$("#footer").height())+"px", width: "100%"}); } $(window).scroll(positionFooter).resize(positionFooter); However, that breaks when I've got expandable/collapsible divs lying around where the original content was less high than the window, since it is then stuck to the bottom of the window, rather than the bottom of the document. Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

This is my scenario: Internet Firewall+LB: pfsense_1(Active) + pfsense_2(Passive) in CARP Pool servers: 3 x nginx(PHP5+HTTP+HTTPS) Pfsense 1 and 2 CARP configured with Virtual IP (pubblic). Nginx servers's ips are all private. I want to load balance inbound HTTP and HTTPS connections between the 3 nginx web servers. An importat thing is that the HTTPS connections must be "sticky connections": in HTTPS connections, after login by username and password, I setup a php session and therefore when a client starts a HTTPS connection it will be always redirected to the same nginx server, until it disconnects itself, it closes the page/browser or after a timeout (30minutes?) without activity. Is this possible whit the last release(2.0.1) of pfsense? thank you very much...

    I have a table that is longer than one page. I have found the option to make the header of the table to be added to the second portion of the table after the page break. Is there a way to do the same thing but with a footer on the table? I want to add a footer so that if my table was 1000 entries long (12 pages), that the first and last row of each page would be consistant; a header and footer for the table. If I edit the rest of the document (above the table) the table will shift up/down and I want to header and footer of the table to remain at the pagge breaks. Any Ideas? In IE8 the scrollbar appears but doesn't work, and I don't have any other way to move down.     I'm using ListActivity, listview. listView = getListView(); just working perfectly. I added footer view as LayoutInflater inflater = getLayoutInflater(); listView.addFooterView( inflater.inflate( R.layout.footer, null ), null, false); and everything was shiny but ugly, so i wanted to add this footer view (which contains only 1 edittext and only 1 button ) to header of listView as LayoutInflater inflater = getLayoutInflater(); listView.addHeaderView( inflater.inflate( R.layout.footer, null ), null, false); and suddenly everything goes wrong, and i get RuntimeException immediately. Suspended(exception RuntimeException) ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread$ActivityRecord, Intent) ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread$ActivityRecord, Intent) ActivityThread.access$2200(ActivityThread, Activity$ActiviyRecord, Intent), so on.. Why is it throws exception ? What is different between addFooterView and addHeaderView, and how can i add Header to ListActivity ? UPDATE So as you can read in comments, my logcat still doesn't work, but i just tried next at this moment: } catch(Exception e){ Writer result = new StringWriter(); PrintWriter printWriter = new PrintWriter(result); e.printStackTrace(printWriter); String error = result.toString(); } and afterward i put breakpoint, and i can read error in expressions section. it said : java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot add header view to list -- setAdapter has already been called. it was instructive for all of us. After change sort of commands, it works perferctly.

    I've been reading the wordpress codex and it seems that if I want to add some text just before the footer shows up I should use code like this in my functions.php add_action('wp_footer', 'your_function'); function your_function() { $content = 'This is inserted at the bottom'; echo $content; } It is my understanding that the $content should show up just before the footer, but it does not show up at all. Is there another way to show up my code just before the footer ? I am with WP 2.8 but this should not matter

    In this case, I've developed a CSS code for this web application ..and sometimes the resulting data is too small and the footer of the site appears in the middle of the page and looks odd. I'd like to push that whitespace of the background to the browser's bottom and then followed by a footer. AND if the page is long, that text won't get overlapped by the footer. Can someone help me out with this code right here?   • Making footer image stick to bottom of web browser or page

    Hello, I know this has been asked alot of times in the past but for the life of me I can't seem to get any of the other solutions to work. What I'm trying to do is to get the footer (which is an image that repeats across the width of the page) to stick to the bottom of the browser when there isn't enough content to naturally push it to the bottom of the page and when there IS enough content to push it to the bottom it does just that. An example is the one at http://www.themaninblue.com/experiment/footerStickAlt/good_example_short.htm which does exactly what I want but I can't get to work either. The code that I've currently got implemented makes the footer stick to a certain section of the page with text going under it. You can see it at sourcectrl.co.uk but its not much to look at.
