  • Is there any reason to allow Yahoo! Slurp to crawl my site?

    I thought a year or more ago Yahoo! would be using another search engine for results, and no longer using their own Slurp bot. However, a couple of the sites I manage Yahoo! Slurp continues to crawl pages, and seems to ignore the Gone status code when returned (as it keeps coming back). Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to block Yahoo! Slurp via robots.txt or by IP (since it tends to ignore robots.txt in some cases anyways)? I've confirmed that when the bot does hit it is from Yahoo! IPs, so I believe this is a legit instance of the bot. Is Yahoo Search the same as Bing Search now? is a related question, but I don't think it completely answers whether one should add a new block of the bot.

  • How Flask loads blueprint internaly?

    I'm just interested how Flask's blueprints gets imported. It still imports the python module at the end of all the stuff done by Flask and if I'm right python does two things when importing: registers the module name in the namespace and then initialize it if needed. So if Flask blueprint is initialized when it gets registered, so all the module then is in memory and if there are lots of blueprints to register, the memory just gets wasted, because in one request basically you use one blueprint. Not a big loss but still... But if it is only registered in the namespace and initialized only when needed (when the real request reaches it), then it make sense to register them all at once (as is the recommended way I understood). This is I guess the case here :) But just wanted to ask and understand a bit deeper.

    Is it possible to use Blueprint CSS and maintain a a respectable level of separation between presentation and content? I like how easy the framework is to use when designing forms, but am worried that the manner in which I use the css classes for columnizing elements is a bad practice.   • Creating yahoo pipe from google cal feed results in german language headings [closed]

    I'm trying to create a Yahoo pipe which combines 4 google calendar RSS feeds into a single feed sorted by date. I've created a yahoo pipe to do this (Which can be found here) The problem is, the headings all appear in German!   • What is the correct usage of blueprint-typography-body([$font-size])?

    Recent convert to RoR and I've been using Compass w/ Blueprint to dip into the proverbial pool. Compass has been fantastic, but I've come across something strange within the Typography library. The blueprint-typography-body mixin contains the following: =blueprint-typography-body($font-size: $blueprint-font-size) line-height: 1.5 +normal-text font-size: 100% * $font-size / 16px My question revolves around "font-size." I'm a bit lost, as I would expect to pass in a font size and have that size reflected upon page load. However, in this scenario the formula seems to dictate a percentage against the default font. ie: +blueprint-typography-body(10px) //produces 7.5px off of the default font size of 12px from what I can tell. In essence, I'm curious if there is a standard to setting font size within Compass other than explicitly declaring "font-size: 10px". Note: The reason I'm leaning towards Blueprint/Compass font stylings is due to the standardization of line-heights, fonts and colors.

  • Flash Yahoo Maps has stopped working?

    In the past week it appears that Yahoo has changed their crossdomain file to only accept Yahoo domains (http://maps.yahooapis.com/crossdomain.xml): This is causing my applications that use Yahoo Maps to stop working (i.e. security exception). I cannot proxy the calls to Yahoo because the URL is embedded in the MXP file that Yahoo distributes. Does anyone know if there's a workaround or update to this?

  • Blueprint CSS & Boks: strange behavior with prepend and append in FF and Chrome

    Hi, I am working a bit with Blueprint CSS framework and I stumbled upon Boks. I am pretty unfamiliar with the BPCSS framework, but it seems that when using prepend and append, Firefox and Chrome (both) are not liking the input. I generated the code from Boks and for my newbe eye-sight, I can't directly see what went wrong in the export.     i am writing a sendmail module to email some things to my site users. for testing it i use my own email at yahoo to receive this email. but some thing woeful happend. about 1200 sent to my email address at yahoo at a moment and yahoo sent all of them to spam box. now i can't send any email to yahoo addresses and my server gives me this message in mailq: "delivery temporarily suspended: host g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238] refused to talk to me..." how can i solve this problem?? many users of my site have yahoo email address. my server uses postfix. thanks for helping .

    Hi, I'm using dkim-milter, Postfix on Ubuntu (I think I used these instructions for setting up). Anyway, using the reflectors such as Port25, BlackOps and Altn.com I get passes for DKIM: X-DKIM: OpenDKIM Filter v2.0.1 medusa.blackops.org o2SGTMSg005616 Authentication-Results: medusa.blackops.org; dkim=pass (1024-bit key) [email protected]; dkim-adsp=pass dkim=pass header.d=example.com (b=miSIxi7TMX; 1:0:good); Authentication-Results: verifier.port25.com header.d=example.com; dkim=pass (matches From: [email protected]); Yahoo gives this: Authentication-Results: mta1031.mail.ukl.yahoo.com from=; domainkeys=neutral (no sig); from=example.com; dkim=permerror (key failed) Where, obviously, example.com is my site address. Is anyone aware of anything different with Yahoo! that would stop these from signing? TIA

I have no problems sending mail to gmail or hotmail, both work fine, but yahoo mail sends my messages to the spam folder and shows the attachment icon for the message even though the message doesn't contain any attachments, it's just plain text. It only includes a reply to a previous message, like this: message text ----- Original Message ----- original message text I copied the message content and sent it from gmail to yahoo and the attachment icon didn't show which makes me believe it's something with mailenable. What could possibly be wrong? Also, is there a white list for yahoo mail that I can join? And also for other popular webmail? I'm going to use this on a production website (site visitors use the contact us form to send messages to the site - the mail enable server running on the same machine as the web server - then I check the messages using the mailenable webmail and reply them). This is really important to me, your help would be really appreciated ...

I have Eset Nod32(Up to date) Anti Virus, but it couldn't find any thing. I've installed Microsoft Security Essential and it could find a virus. I remove it and I change my mail password. What happened to my Yahoo Mail Account and what should I do ? Edit : My email password was 12 characters and I couldn't remember it , so I'm using RoboForm. Is it possible that my Roboform password divulge. !!! Edit 2 : I've changed my yahoo mail password, but this morning I received Failure Notice for sending mail to some invalid mail addresses again, but there is a different this time, the sent mails didn't exist in my Sent Box. Is it a good thing or I have to do something else ?

  • Yahoo flagging mail as spam when using relay server

    I'm using Postfix to relay mail from my site to my mail server. Mail is received properly at my Gmail and Hotmail accounts - only Yahoo is the problem. The Yahoo mail headers state: Received-SPF: none (mta1133.mail.mud.yahoo.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate permitted sender hosts) In contrast, the Gmail headers state: Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates 74.50.xxx.xxx as permitted sender) client-ip=74.50.xxx.xxx; Reverse DNS is set up correctly, as is my SPF record. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve the Yahoo problem (short of contacting Yahoo, as this is a brand new mail server)? FYI - I just set up domainkeys, but I'm not sure whether they should be on the origin or relay server. Thanks

  • Work around for yahoo mail slowness (using 100% cpu)

    My yahoo mail is very slow sometimes. When it is, I notice that IE8 is using 100% cpu. Using sysinternals process explorer I discovered the thread using all the cpu in IE8 has Flash in the stackwalk. I upgraded flash from 9 to 10, but the problem persists. I'm about to edit hosts to block the flash content by redirecting the yahoo and ad click dns entries. Is there some easier way to get flash to behave? The fix for the long run will be switching to gmail.
