  • WebLogic JDBC Use of Oracle Wallet for SSL

    Introduction Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) can be used to secure the connection between the middle tier “client”, WebLogic Server (WLS) in this case, and the Oracle database server.  Data between WLS and database can be encrypted.  The server can be authenticated so you have proof that the database can be trusted by validating a certificate from the server.  The client can be authenticated so that the database only accepts connections from clients that it trusts. Similar to the discussion in an earlier article about using the Oracle wallet for database credentials, the Oracle wallet can also be used with SSL to store the keys and certificates.  By using it correctly, clear text passwords can be eliminated from the JDBC configuration and client/server configuration can be simplified by sharing the wallet across multiple datasources. There is a very good Oracle Technical White Paper on using SSL with the Oracle thin driver at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/wp-oracle-jdbc-thin-ssl-130128.pdf [LINK1].  The link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/index-087556.html [LINK2] describes how to use WebLogic Server with Oracle JDBC Driver SSL. The information in this article is a guide on what steps need to be taken in the variety of available options; use the links above for details. SSL from the driver to the database server is basically turned on by specifying a protocol of “tcps” in the URL.  However, there is a fair amount of setup needed.  Also remember that there is an overhead in performance. Creating the wallets The common use cases are 1. “data encryption and server-only authentication”, requiring just a trust store, or 2. “data encryption and authentication of both tiers” (client and server), requiring a trust store and a key store. It is recommended to use the auto-login wallet type so that clear text passwords are not needed in the datasource configuration to open the wallet.  The store type for an auto-login wallet is “SSO” (Single Sign On), not “JKS” or “PKCS12” as in [LINK2].  The file name is “cwallet.sso”. Wallets are created using the orapki tool.  They need to be created based on the usage (encryption and/or authentication).  This is discussed in detail in [LINK1] in Appendix B or in the Advanced Security Administrator’s Guide of the Database documentation. Database Server Configuration It is necessary to update the sqlnet.ora and listener.ora files with the directory location of the wallet using WALLET_LOCATION.  These files also indicate whether or not SSL_CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION is being used (true or false). The Oracle Listener must also be configured to use the TCPS protocol.  The recommended port is 2484. LISTENER = (ADDRESS_LIST= (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcps)(HOST=servername)(PORT=2484))) WebLogic Server Classpath The WebLogic Server CLASSPATH must have three additional security files. The files that need to be added to the WLS CLASSPATH are $MW_HOME/modules/com.oracle.osdt_cert_1.0.0.0.jar $MW_HOME/modules/com.oracle.osdt_core_1.0.0.0.jar $MW_HOME/modules/com.oracle.oraclepki_1.0.0.0.jar One way to do this is to add them to PRE_CLASSPATH environment variable for use with the standard WebLogic scripts. Setting the Oracle Security Provider It’s necessary to enable the Oracle PKI provider on the client side.  This can either be done statically by updating the java.security file under the JRE or dynamically by setting it in a WLS startup class using java.security.Security.insertProviderAt(new oracle.security.pki.OraclePKIProvider (), 3); See the full example of the startup class in [LINK2]. Datasource Configuration When creating a WLS datasource, set the PROTOCOL in the URL to tcps as in the following. jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcps)(HOST=host)(PORT=port))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=myservice))) For encryption and server authentication, use the datasource connection properties: - javax.net.ssl.trustStore=location of wallet file on the client - javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType=”SSO” For client authentication, use the datasource connection properties: - javax.net.ssl.keyStore=location of wallet file on the client - javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType=”SSO” Note that the driver connection properties for the wallet require a file name, not a directory name. Active GridLink ONS over SSL For completeness, there is another SSL usage for WLS datasources.  The communication with the Oracle Notification Service (ONS) for load balancing information and node up/down events can use SSL also. Create an auto-login wallet and use the wallet on the client and server.  The following is a sample sequence to create a test wallet for use with ONS. orapki wallet create -wallet ons -auto_login -pwd ONS_Wallet orapki wallet add -wallet ons -dn "CN=ons_test,C=US" -keysize 1024 -self_signed -validity 9999 -pwd ONS_Wallet orapki wallet export -wallet ons -dn "CN=ons_test,C=US" -cert ons/cert.txt -pwd ONS_Wallet On the database server side, it’s necessary to define the walletfile directory in the file $CRS_HOME/opmn/conf/ons.config and run onsctl stop/start. When configuring an Active GridLink datasource, the connection to the ONS must be defined.  In addition to the host and port, the wallet file directory must be specified.  By not giving a password, a SSO wallet is assumed. Summary To use SSL with the Oracle thin driver without any clear text passwords, use an SSO Oracle Wallet.  SSL support in the Oracle thin driver is available starting in 10g Release 2.

  • CFGRID - replace data store or filter on more than one column

    ColdFusion 8 I have a cfgrid that that is based on a query. It is not bound to a cfc function because I want a scrolling grid, not a paged grid (you must supply the page number and page size if you use BIND).. I can figure out how to make it filter on one column by using the following code, but I really need to filter on three columns... grid.getDataSource().filter("OT_MILESTONE",t1); Adding more to the filter string does not do the trick...it ignores anything more than the first pair of values.. so..I thought if I called a function that passes the three values and returned the query results to me, I could replace the Data Store for the grid..but I cannot figure out the syntax to get it to replace. The returned variable for the query has the following format: {"COLUMNS":["SEQ_KEY","ID","OT_MILESTONE"],"DATA":[[63677,"x","y"]]} Any ideas?

    I'm using eclipse 3.5.2 and cannot seem to use "filter resources" to filter out .git folders in any of my projects for any of my perspectives: javascript, ruby, and php. I've tried adding the filter to plugin.xml as suggested on this blog but it is for eclipse 3.4 and doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

    If I have a simple low-pass filter, e.g. filt = fir1(20, 0.2); and a matrix with a list of numbers (a signal), e.g. [0.1, -0.2, 0.3, -0.4] etc, how do I actually apply the filter I've created to this signal? Seems like a simple question but I've been stuck for hours. Do I need to manually calculate it from the filter coefficients?

    If you read through the first four parts of this series on data source security, you should be an expert on this focus area.  There is one more small topic to cover related to WebLogic Resource permissions.  After that comes the test, I mean example, to see with a real set of configuration parameters what the results are with some concrete values. WebLogic Resource Permissions All of the discussion so far has been about database credentials that are (eventually) used on the database side.  WLS has resource credentials to control what WLS users are allowed to access JDBC resources.  These can be defined on the Policies tab on the Security tab associated with the data source.  There are four permissions: “reserve” (get a new connection), “admin”, “shrink”, and reset (plus the all-inclusive “ALL”); we will focus on “reserve” here because we are talking about getting connections.  By default, JDBC resource permissions are completely open – anyone can do anything.  As soon as you add one policy for a permission, then all other users are restricted.  For example, if I add a policy so that “weblogic” can reserve a connection, then all other users will fail to reserve connections unless they are also explicitly added.  The validation is done for WLS user credentials only, not database user credentials.  Configuration of resources in general is described at “Create policies for resource instances” http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/apirefs.1211/e24401/taskhelp/security/CreatePoliciesForResourceInstances.html.  This feature can be very useful to restrict what code and users can get to your database. There are the three use cases: API Use database credentials User for permission checking getConnection() True or false Current WLS user getConnection(user,password) False User/password from API getConnection(user,password) True Current WLS user If a simple getConnection() is used or database credentials are enabled, the current user that is authenticated to the WLS system is checked. If database credentials are not enabled, then the user and password on the API are used. Example The following is an actual example of the interactions between identity-based-connection-pooling-enabled, oracle-proxy-session, and use-database-credentials. On the database side, the following objects are configured.- Database users scott; jdbcqa; jdbcqa3- Permission for proxy: alter user jdbcqa3 grant connect through jdbcqa;- Permission for proxy: alter user jdbcqa grant connect through jdbcqa; The following WebLogic Data Source objects are configured.- Users weblogic, wluser- Credential mapping “weblogic” to “scott”- Credential mapping "wluser" to "jdbcqa3"- Data source descriptor configured with user “jdbcqa”- All tests are run with Set Client ID set to true (more about that below).- All tests are run with oracle-proxy-session set to false (more about that below). The test program:- Runs in servlet- Authenticates to WLS as user “weblogic” Use DB Credentials Identity based getConnection(scott,***) getConnection(weblogic,***) getConnection(jdbcqa3,***) getConnection()  true  true Identity scottClient weblogicProxy null weblogic fails - not a db user User jdbcqa3Client weblogicProxy null Default user jdbcqaClient weblogicProxy null  false  true scott fails - not a WLS user User scottClient scottProxy null jdbcqa3 fails - not a WLS user User scottClient scottProxy null  true  false Proxy for scott fails weblogic fails - not a db user User jdbcqa3Client weblogicProxy jdbcqa Default user jdbcqaClient weblogicProxy null  false  false scott fails - not a WLS user Default user jdbcqaClient scottProxy null jdbcqa3 fails - not a WLS user Default user jdbcqaClient scottProxy null If Set Client ID is set to false, all cases would have Client set to null. If this was not an Oracle thin driver, the one case with the non-null Proxy in the above table would throw an exception because proxy session is only supported, implicitly or explicitly, with the Oracle thin driver. When oracle-proxy-session is set to true, the only cases that will pass (with a proxy of "jdbcqa") are the following.1. Setting use-database-credentials to true and doing getConnection(jdbcqa3,…) or getConnection().2. Setting use-database-credentials to false and doing getConnection(wluser, …) or getConnection(). Summary There are many options to choose from for data source security.  Considerations include the number and volatility of WLS and Database users, the granularity of data access, the depth of the security identity (property on the connection or a real user), performance, coordination of various components in the software stack, and driver capabilities.  Now that you have the big picture (remember that table in part 1), you can make a more informed choice.

    My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController.     I want to apply a filter on an image, for example, blurring filter [[1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0]]. Also, I'd like to use the approach that convolution in Spatial domain is equivalent to multiplication in Frequency domain. So, my algorithm will be like. Load Image. Create Filter. convert both Filter & Image to Frequency domains. multiply both. reconvert the output to Spatial Domain and that should be the required output. The following is the basic code I use, the image is loaded and displayed as cv.cvmat object. Image is a class of my creation, it has a member image which is an object of scipy.matrix and toFrequencyDomain(size = None) uses spf.fftshift(spf.fft2(self.image, size)) where spf is scipy.fftpack and dotMultiply(img) uses scipy.multiply(self.image, image) f = Image.fromMatrix([[1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0]]) lena = Image.fromFile("Test/images/lena.jpg") print lena.image.shape lenaf = lena.toFrequencyDomain(lena.image.shape) ff = f.toFrequencyDomain(lena.image.shape) lenafm = lenaf.dotMultiplyImage(ff) lenaff = lenafm.toTimeDomain() lena.display() lenaff.display() So, the previous code works pretty well, if I told OpenCV to load the image via GRAY_SCALE. However, if I let the image to be loaded in color ... lena.image.shape will be (512, 512, 3) .. so, it gives me an error when using scipy.fttpack.ftt2 saying "When given, Shape and Axes should be of same length". What I tried next was converted my filter to 3-D .. as [[[1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0]], [[1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0]], [[1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0], [1/9.0, 1/9.0, 1/9.0]]] And, not knowing what the axes argument do, I added it with random numbers as (-2, -1, -1), (-1, -1, -2), .. etc. until it gave me the correct filter output shape for the dotMultiply to work. But, of course it wasn't the correct value. Things were totally worse. My final trial, was using fft2 function on each of the components 2-D matrices, and then re-making the 3-D one, using the following code. # Spiltting the 3-D matrix to three 2-D matrices. for i, row in enumerate(self.image): r.append(list()) g.append(list()) b.append(list()) for pixel in row: r[i].append(pixel[0]) g[i].append(pixel[1]) b[i].append(pixel[2]) rfft = spf.fftshift(spf.fft2(r, size)) gfft = spf.fftshift(spf.fft2(g, size)) bfft = spf.fftshift(spf.fft2(b, size)) newImage.image = sp.asarray([[[rfft[i][j], gfft[i][j], bfft[i][j]] for j in xrange(len(rfft[i]))] for i in xrange(len(rfft))] ) return newImage Any help on what I made wrong, or how can I achieve that for both GreyScale and Coloured pictures.

  • Alternative to Firefox's Tab Groups feature for Chromium/Chrome

    Firefox keeps crashing the whole time on my Lubuntu 12.04 since version 12, I don't know why, I am running it on a Pentium IV desktop so might be CPU shortage, however I use the same set of extensions and configurations that I have on Windows' Firefox and it rarely crashes, runs smoothly and besides on Windows it can handle much more tabs opened before some freeze actually happens. Chromium is working better so far on Lubuntu, but I really do miss the Tab Groups Firefox feature, which is great to group tabs and organize them, it really is a boost on my productivity. Are you aware of any add-on which is similar for Chrome/Chromium? I've searched around on Chrome's Web Store but no luck at the moment.

    I have the following two 8-tap filters: h0 ['-0.010597', '0.032883', '0.030841', '-0.187035', '-0.027984', '0.630881', '0.714847', '0.230378'] h1 ['-0.230378', '0.714847', '-0.630881', '-0.027984', '0.187035', '0.030841', '-0.032883', '-0.010597'] Here they are on a graph: I'm using it to obtain the approximation (lower subband of an image). This is a(m,n) in the following diagram: I got the coefficients and diagram from the book Digital Image Processing, 3rd Edition, so I trust that they are correct. The star symbol denotes one dimensional convolution (either over rows or over columns). The down arrow denotes downsampling in one dimension (either over rows, or columns). My problem is that the filter coefficients for h0 and h1 sum to greater than 1 (approximately 1.4 or sqrt(2) to be exact). Naturally, if I convolve any image with the filter, the image will get brighter. Indeed, here's what I get (expected result on right): Can somebody suggest what the problem is here? Why should it work if the convolution filter coefficients sum to greater than 1? I have the source code, but it's quite long so I'm hoping to avoid posting it here. If it's absolutely necessary, I'll put it up later. EDIT What I'm doing is: Decompose into subbands Filter one of the subbands Recompose subbands into original image Note that the point isn't just to have a displayable subband-decomposed image -- I have to be able to perfectly reconstruct the original image from the subbands as well. So if I scale the filtered image in order to compensate for my decomposition filter making the image brighter, this is what I will have to do: Decompose into subbands Apply intensity scaling Filter one of the subbands Apply inverse intensity scaling Recompose subbands into original image Step 2 performs the scaling. This is what @Benjamin is suggesting. The problem is that then step 4 becomes necessary, or the original image will not be properly reconstructed. This longer method will work. However, the textbook explicitly says that no scaling is performed on the approximation subband. Of course, it's possible that the textbook is wrong. However, what's more possible is I'm misunderstanding something about the way this all works -- this is why I'm asking this question.

    Hi, Just wondering what the best way to build a NSPredicate is if some filters are optional? This is basically for a filter, so if some options aren't selected I don't to filter by them eg. If I have option1 and option2 set for the filter. NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@ AND option2 = %@] .... otherwise if just option1 NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@] .... The key being there are 10 different options to filter, so I don't want to have to code for the 10x10 possible combinations. Thanks

    I think I'm overlooking something simple here, I can't imagine this is impossible to do. I want to filter by a datetime attribute and then order the result by a ranking integer attribute. When I try to do this: query.filter("submitted >=" thisweek).order("ranking") I get the following: BadArgumentError: First ordering property must be the same as inequality filter property, if specified for this query; received ranking, expected submitted Huh? What am I missing? Thanks.

  • Symfony 1.4 filter on index page

    I'm trying to apply a filter to the index page of my module, the code works as I've tested it on another page called filter within the same module. The problem I'm having is that on submitting the filter on the index page (form action points to index) Symfony instead decides to route to the create action for some reason. Although the create method isn't visible in the URL a new form is instantiated on the index page which leads me to suspect it is routing to the create action: http://locahost.com/frontend_dev.php/mymodule Any ideas how I can get a filter to work on the index page?

    WN servers have an alternative to cgi programs called filters. I have been trying to get one to work, but I have had no luck. I am writing in python. It looks like the server is not receiving any output from the program but is parsing nothing and wrapping this nothing in my standard header and footer. I have chmod 755 the program and my index.wn file reads: Default-Attributes=parse Default-Wrappers=templates/template1.inc File=includeTests.html File=index.html File=archives.html File=contact.html File=style.css File=testProgram.py #here is the stuff about the filter File=testFilter.html Content-type=text/html Filter=testProgram.py Attributes=parse, cgi here is what is in the filter called testProgram.py: #!/usr/bin/python print "Content-Type: text/html\n\n" print "hi" testProgram.py works perfectly if it is shoved into a cgi-bin folder and chmoded. I suppose my problem may lay with the fact that I have never ever seen a filter program in python. I'm not sure I have even seen a filter program at all. Does anyone out there have any experience with wn servers and filters? Any ideas?

I currently already have the current intent filter: <activity android:name=".activities.EpisodesListActivity" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar"> <intent-filter> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"></category> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"></category> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"></action> <data android:scheme="http"></data> </intent-filter> </activity> Now as you can guess, this is an evil intent, as it wants to open whenever a page is requested via http. However, when I ad the line: <data android:mimeType="application/rss+xml"></data> to make it: <activity android:name=".activities.EpisodesListActivity" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar"> <intent-filter> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"></category> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"></category> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"></action> <data android:scheme="http"></data> <data android:mimeType="application/rss+xml"></data> </intent-filter> </activity> The application no longer claims to be able to run rss files. Also, if I change the line to: <data android:mimeType="application/xml"></data> It also won't work (for generic xml file even). So what intent filter do I need to make in order to claim that the activity supports rss. (Also, bonus points if you can tell me how I know what URL it was the user opened. So far, I've always sent that information from one activity to the other using extras). Thank you for your help

I'm using the MUNQ IoC provider for it's speed and have decided to use constructor injection on all my classes as opposed to post instatiation property binding (because I prefer it). I'm trying to write a custom IFilterProvider that will use my IoC container to return requests for filters (so that I can map concrete classes using the container). I've come up with the following. public class FilterProvider : IFilterProvider { private readonly IocContainer _container; public FilterProvider(IocContainer container) { _container = container; } public IEnumerable<Filter> GetFilters(ControllerContext controllerContext, ActionDescriptor actionDescriptor) { var x = Enumerable.Union<Object>(_container.ResolveAll<IActionFilter>(), _container.ResolveAll<IAuthorizationFilter>()); foreach (Filter actionFilter in x) yield return new Filter(actionFilter, FilterScope.First, null); } } The above code will fail during the foreach because my objects that implement IAuthorizationFilter are based on FilterAttribute and not Filter My question is, what is the difference between Filter and FilterAttribute? I would have thought that there would have been a common link between them, unless I'm missing something. Another deeper question is, how come there is no IFilterAttributeProvider that would support IEnumerable GetFilters(...) Is there some other way that I should be using to resolve IAuthorizationFilter via my IoC container? Thank you very much for your help. Z

    I have a persistent map which I want to filter. Something like this: (filter #(-> % val (= 1)) {:a 1 :b 1 :c 2}) The above comes out as ([:a 1] [:b 1]) (a lazy sequence of map entries). However I want to be get {:a 1 :b 1}. How can I filter a map so it remains a map without having to rebuild it from a sequence of map entries?

    ECMAScript 5 has the filter() prototype for Array types, but not Object types, if I understand correctly. How would I implement a filter() for Objects in JavaScript? Let's say I have this object: var foo = { bar: "Yes" }; And I want to write a filter() that works on Objects: Object.prototype.filter = function(predicate) { var result = {}; for (key in this) { if (this.hasOwnProperty(key) && !predicate(this[key])) { result[key] = this[key]; } } return result; }; This works when I use it in jsfiddle (http://jsfiddle.net/MPUnL/4/), but when I add it to my site that uses jQuery 1.5 and jQuery UI 1.8.9, I get JavaScript errors in FireBug.

  • Filtering out specific objects from a search query in Alfresco using Java

    I have a HashSet containing all groups I've retrieved from my database. I've been asked to filter this result by removing two specific groups. It seems trivial but I can't seem to come up with a solid solution for storing the specific groups I want to filter out. My idea is to just create an array containing references to the two groups I need to filter out. I can then filter out my search query with whatever is in the array.
